Who knew that one day can change your life?
Kikyo walked thru the dense forest, while her *Shinidamachū followed faithfully behind her. She snickered under her breathe thinking about her reincarnation faces when she saw her and InuYasha kiss. It was priceless did that fool not know that no matter how hard she tried, she would never be able to take InuYasha away from her. InuYasha's heart was hers and only hers. A cruel smirk bloomed on her pale lips and a soft chuckle escaped. She knew that no matter what she asked InuYasha would do it. And that was why this plan was so brilliant. InuYasha was unknowingly causing Kagome pain and that made Kikyo very, very happy.
They refused to look at their puppy eared friend… knowing that they might say something to him about his most recent behavior. Sango knew that she would pound the bastards head in with her *Hiraikotsu and bask in his screams of pain and the crack of bone. However she would not simply because her little sister Kagome would not want that.
Miroku kept his eyes firmly on Sango, because he knew that if he looked at InuYasha he would let loose his anger. He maybe a flirt and he maybe a *hentai but he never played with someone's heart like InuYasha. And that did not sit well with him considering the girl that InuYasha was playing with was not only to pure hearted but also no woman…no matter what they had done deserved what had happened to Kagome.
Shippo continued to stare into the flames of the camp fire. He knew that he would just love to sink his teeth into the prick known as InuYasha. If not for him none of this would be happening. Shippo blamed him for everything. From the breaking of the Shikon no Tama, the death of his father and the pain is Mama was going through. It could all be placed on that selfish *Hanbun akuma. Just the thought of him made Shippo growl. He knew that if his Mama decided that she could no longer be around InuYasha, Shippo would not hesitate to follow her. NO MATTER WHERE SHE WENT. Picking sides would be so easy.
InuYasha stared at his pack trying to figure out what was going on. The silence was unnerving and almost painful. It felt like a cloud of anger had settled over the camp and it was all aimed at him. What the hell did he do? He did not do a damn thing. And he was not going to take shit from anyone, including his pack. He was the alpha male and until someone challenged him for that spot he would stay alpha.
Once Sakura got her daughter into the house she forced her to sit at the kitchen table while she began to make some tea… if only to soothe her nerves. And while the tea was brewing she grabbed the first aid kit from the hallway closet. Once everything was in place and the tea placed in front of them, Sakura began to work on the poorly bandaged hands of her daughter. No one word passed between the two as the bandages were removed and replaced. Putting Kagome's hands down, Sakura picked up her tea cup and took a sip. Once again the tea was placed in front of her and she began to speak.
"Kagome, can you not tell me what is wrong?" Sakura asked as she leaned forward placing her elbows onto the table and planting her chin in her hands.
"Oh, Mama…I just don't know what to do anymore. InuYasha has made his choice and I am afraid that if it comes down to it…he will choose to protect Kikyo rather than myself. I could end up seriously hurt, or in the worst case I could end up dead. I do not want to make InuYasha protect me. I am just not sure what to do at this point." Kagome said never taking her eyes from the tea cup in front of her.
Silence rained over the table as Sakura tried to absorb what Kagome had told her. She knew that it was more than just needed to be protected but rather the emotional pain that Kagome was feeling that was the true problem in this whole mess. However, broken hearts can and will heal but death wasn't something that could be fix in the same way.
"Kagome, I want you to know that no matter what you choose to do…I will support you and I will help you heal from the wounds on your heart. But I cannot tell you what to do. I can only offer advice and a few words of wisdom. Kagome, I will tell you this…first loves are hard to get over, but first loves are not usually true loves. In order to find and keep true love you have to know what it feels like. You have to go through this pain in order to understand yourself better. Sweetie, you father was not my first love but he was my true love…do you understand?" Sakura said putting the tea cup to her lips and taking a sip of the now warm brew.
Kagome took a deep staggering breath and lifted her eyes to her mother's face. Looking into her mother's eyes and only seeing acceptance and true in those eyes.
"Mama, I want… no I need to become stronger. I need to, or I know that I will die. I can feel it." Kagome said never removing her eyes from her mother's.
"Then that is what we will do. Although I have no idea how you can do that. Is there anyone in the past that can teach you how to wield your powers?" Sakura asked
"I am pretty sure that grandpa will have an idea. After all he knows more about this stuff then I do." Kagome replied.
"Hmm, you are right. I believe before we do anything else we will discuss this with him and see what he has to say." Sakura agreed and once again silence filled the kitchen. The clock above the stove chimed, making the two look to the clock. Reading that it was seven am they both knew it was a matter of time before the man in question would hobble down the stairs putting in a request for tea. It was not even ten minutes later that he walked into the kitchen and rubbed his eyes.
"Oh Kagome, I see that you are home. We were not expecting for at least another week or more." Grandpa Higurashi said taking in his granddaughter's bandaged hands and blood shot eyes.
"Father, when you have a moment Kagome and I wish to speak with you. It is over grave importance." Sakura said standing up and heading to the stove to make some more tea for him.
"Well, allow me to get into my monk's robe and then we will talk." With that Grandpa Higurashi turned around and once again headed up the stairs. Moments later he returned, covered in his robes with a walk of pride and silent integrity.
"Now child tell this old man, what he can do to help you." He said taking a seat next to Kagome. Sakura set his tea in front of him and took her seat once again.
"Oh grandpa, I need to learn how to use my abilities. And you are the only person I know that knows the old way. Can you help me?" Kagome asked silently waiting for his reply.
Grandpa Higurashi rubbed his chin thoughtfully and choose his words carefully. "While I do not have the abilities that you do, I have scrolls that can teach you many things. I also know a little about how you can control you power easier. Will this be enough to get you at least stated?"
"Grandpa, that's more than I could hope for. Thank you! I want to change and you have given me the way to start." Kagome said feeling better than she had only moments ago.
