Dick's POV

"Okay, here we are." Jack said opening a door leading to a bedroom. I glanced around and sat down on the bed. "Alright lets see what I have on tap. Black beauties,Angel Dust,B's,Barbs,Base,Darks. Oh here we are Freefall." Jack said. He grabbed a small tin like the one he gave me. "This will fix you up real quick."he said. I watched him as he filled the vial. "You just shoot this into your system whenever your having a hard time. And BAM! Instant peace. You should probably stay here for tonight until the drug wears off tho." he said. I nodded. "Alright." I agreed. Jack hesitated. "What?" I asked. "Look man, there's no shame in just walking away. You don't have to get involved with this stuff man."he said. I raised an eyebrow. "Okay you so did not just pull the anti-drugs talk."I teased. He rolled his eyes. "Whatever. Just give me your arm." he said. I did as asked and gave him my left arm.

Jack expertly injected the clear liquid into my system, and I winced as the needle penetrated my skin. "Now you might feel a slight burn, but after that you should feel a cool rush run through you." Jack said as he withdrew the needle. "Thank you,Jack." I said. I felt a little dizzy at first but then the feeling settled and I felt a rush. And for once,in my life my brain switched off. "How ya feel, man?" Jack asked. I looked over to him. "I feel..." I started. I searched for a word to describe this feeling. Good? Fine? "I feel fucking amazing man." I smiled. Jack smiled back. "Just chill up here for a bit. Then you can come downstairs and party if you want." he said. I nodded and laid flat on his bed.

I studied the ceiling suddenly interested in the curves and holes carved into it. I felt my body slowly begin to drift of into unconsciousness. Before my eyes finally closed I made a silent hope. Please. Please let this feeling never go away. Let me wander in the fields of Asphodel. let me never have to remember again. Please let me have suffered enough in these past 25 years to last the rest of my life. Please let me be at peace...

Forever...
