Summary: In the Steins;gate world-line, anything is possible…even that.

Okabe sighs contentedly. He's sprawled out on the couch, feet propped up on the coffee table, a Dk. Pepper in his hand. Idle chatter fills the air as he acts as a casual observer, soaking in the peace and rightness of the moment. Classes had just started back up and Mayuri was missing all her new friends, so Okabe, being the pushov—omnipotent mad-scientist that he was, agreed to gather all the Lab-members for a get-together.

There was food, not made by Kurisu or Mayuri, drinks, of the non-alcoholic variety, and games, which most everyone was ignoring in favor of conversation. He couldn't have done a better job if he had tried.

"Oh no, I just wound you." Time slows down for Okabe, as those fateful words leave Mayuri's lips. His heart's pounding harder than ever as his head whips around to look at his childhood friend in disbelief. He stares in horror as her lips begin forming the next phrase.

"…don't tell me you're broken…" Those words break the spell cast over him. Okabe jumps up immediately, rushing across the room to lock the door, knocking food and drink off the table in his haste.

"What's going on?" Kurisu asks surprised at his sudden action. Okabe slams the blinds shut and in the next second he's sliding across the floor and unplugging Daru's computer.

"Aw man! What the hell dude! Give a guy a chance to save before you kill it like that!"

"The Organization's attack has started! Take cover!" Okabe's cowered under the window, peeking between the blinds, gazing across the street, eyes peeled for snipers.

"Meow no!" Feyris says, dropping to the floor like a solider about to crawl through the enemy line, she scuttles over into the kitchen area, and plasters herself against the wall, imaginary gun poised and ready. No one else moves a muscle.

"What insanity are you spouting now, Okabe?" Kurisu asks with a growl, thinking he's goofing off again.

"Please!" He can feel himself shaking, "it doesn't make any sense!" Why would they attack now? We haven't made the time machine! We didn't use the IBM! They can't do this to me!

"I thought we foiled the Organization last month…Ragnarok was a success wasn't it?" Mayuri asks, distracted from her timepiece.

"All trains have been delayed because of a bomb threat on the Touto-line." A reporter on the TV says in the ensuing silence.

"No! Nonononono!" Okabe moans, grabbing the TV on either side, staring it down, and begging that it is wrong, that they're lying.

"K-kyouma-kun…" Moeka mutters hesitantly. "W-what's the matter?"

"The Organization! They're going to attack! YOU!" He growls turning from the TV to the SPY IN THEIR MIDST! "Did you tell FB we were doing anything?! DID YOU TELL FB!"

"H-how do you know FB?" She asks in shock.

"H-he's not joking…" Kurisu mutters to herself.

"DID YOU TELL FB WE WERE MAKING A TIME MACHINE!" He demands advancing on her. His eyes scan her form, looking for that damnable gun that'll kill his precious Mayuri.

"Okabe! Calm down!" Kurisu says, moving in front of him.

"N-no! I didn't! Time-travel is impossible," Moeka gasps as he shoves Kurisu out of the way.

Daru catches her before she can fall to the floor. As she steadies herself Daru stares at Okabe like he doesn't even know him anymore.

"Okarin! You're scaring me!" Mayuri shouts, putting herself between Okabe and Moeka.

"Mayuri…Mayuri…you don't understand…they'll kill you…"

"Dude!" Daru says stunned, "Are you having a psychotic break right now or something?"

"It's SERN, they're going to kill Mayuri…FB's going to kill Mayuri…Moeka's going to kill Mayuri…I can't let them kill Mayuri…I can't…"

"Okabe, we're in the Steins;gate world-line." Kurisu tries to reason, "We're in the Steins;gate world-line. We're safe, it's okay."

"Then explain that!" He yells, blindly pointing at his blue-sand hourglass.

"…It's an hourglass." She says carefully.

"Flip it over." He demands impatiently. They've already wasted so much time! She's in danger! She'll die! He has no way to fix this!

The sound of the sands falling softly to the bottom can be heard in the absolute silence that follows.
