Chapter 7: Reunion of Mammals
While in the woods, Sid was continuing fleeing from the pirates until he climbs up the tree and hid in the leaves. The sloth looked down to see the saber, rabbit and badger ran underneath him and the sloth breathes a sigh of relief.
"Looks like I gave them the slip again." Sid said as he rests on the tree branch.
The sloth looks around and decides to relax for a bit in the tree.
In the other part of the woods, Diego and the others are searching for the sloth.
"Sid!" Diego called out.
"Sid! Answer us if you can!" Manny also called out.
"Sid! Where are you?" Shira also called out.
"He's in this area somewhere…" Buck said.
"Honestly, Diego. Did you really have to say that to the sloth?" The tigress asked the saber.
"Shira, please… Just drop it." The saber bitterly replied.
"No! It's high time you started being nicer to him!" The tigress suggested.
"You're one to talk! You never even liked him!" The saber retorts to the female.
"You were the one who usually bully him! You and that fat mammoth!" The tigress retorts back.
"I'm not fat and you two need to calm down!" Manny retorts to the sabers.
"Like you're calm, Manny? You were mostly grumpy towards the sloth." The saber stated to the bull.
"Well, at least I'm not like you and Ms. Coldhearted over there!" The bull replied sharply at the saber.
"Hey, take that back! I'm not all cold-hearted like you two are!" The tigress retorts back at the bull.
"You're the cold one!" The saber retorts to the tigress.
"Well, sabers are known as coldblooded killers." The bull stated.
"Does the same apply for mammoths too?" The saber asked casually as the tigress stifles a laugh after the saber's question.
"Hey! What's that supposed to-" The bull cut off from an outburst.
"Enough!" The weasel shouted silencing the 3 mammals ahead of him.
Manny, Diego and Shira turned to Buck with a surprised look on their faces.
"Fer the love of all that's sacred! Ya three are cold-hearted an' should be friendly ta one anotha'! But yer argument is impedin' us from findin' our sloth, so quit it with yer meanin'less quarrel, mammals!" Buck told off the trio.
The three looked at each other sadly after hearing the mustelid's words.
"He's right… Maybe we got off at the wrong start. I'm sorry, you guys." Diego apologized.
"Same here…" Shira replied apologetically.
"Yeah… Let's put this behind us, OK?" Manny said to the sabers and their nodded to the bull in agreement.
"That's more like it, mammals! Now, let's go find our sloth!" The weasel urged the mammals.
"Right!" The bull, saber and tigress replied in agreement.
The 4 mammals continue walking into the woods find to their friend.
In the other part of the woods, the guanlong, weasel, sloth and wolf came into the fork forest paths. The animals split up and took the paths individually. In the separate path, the crimson/jet black wolf treks through the woods until he spot a familiar creature climbing down the tree and crept up to the creature which happens to be a sloth.
"You gotta love climbing trees." Sid said to himself.
"Hey!" The wolf greeted as he places his paw on the sloth's shoulder.
"Ha!" The sloth exclaimed as he punched the wolf in self-defense.
"Ow! I see you have some good reflexes." The wolf said as he held his bleeding nose.
"Ooh, I'm sorry… You! You're alive!" The sloth exclaimed as he tackles the wolf in joy.
"OK, OK… Let me up, please." The wolf replied as he wipes his bloody nose.
"Sorry, Mr. Fang." The sloth casually apologized as he helped the wolf.
"How did you my name?" Fang asked the sloth in surprise.
"Well, you got it because of your fangs that are pointing up from your mouth. Am I right?" The sloth explained and asked the canine.
"Correctamundo, Sidney!" The wolf answered.
"What are doing here? Wait… You lost your home because of the shifting continents, Fang?" The sloth asked once more.
"Again, correct. But I'm not alone on this island. My family's also safe and I was hoping to show you to them but…" The wolf cut himself short.
"You're afraid that they might make a meal out of me?" The sloth nervously asked.
"Yeah, that pretty much sums it up." The wolf casually replied.
"Great… I reunited with a wolf that has a murderous family…" The sloth solemnly said in his thoughts and thought how scary Fang's family is.
"I know you're thinking how scary my family is but I think you should know that they are not brutal. Well, except for my dad, grandpa and most my dad's pack members but they're gentle once you get to know them." The wolf explains to Sid.
"What about your mom, Fang?" The sloth asked.
"My mom? Oh, she's always sweet and caring but she's slightly indignant towards dad and the others a bit." The wolf said as he stifles his laugh.
"OK. And your siblings?" The sloth asked once more.
"I have a younger sister." The wolf explained.
"OK. So, what brings you here in these woods?" The sloth asked again.
"To find you and save you from the pirates." The wolf replied.
"I'm fine…" The sloth said shortly.
"Hmm? You don't look fine to me. What's wrong?" The wolf said as he sat down.
"Well… Me and Diego had a falling out." The sloth sadly replied.
"What happened between you two?" The wolf asked again.
"He told me that carnivores can't be my friends when I heard him mention about you." The sloth explained on the brink of tears.
"Jeez… I'm sure he feels remorseful about what he said." The wolf replied as nuzzles the sloth.
"You think so?" The sloth asked.
"Of course. For now, let's go before the pirates find us." The wolf said as he stands up.
"Right." The sloth said as he and the wolf fled from the area.
In the other part of the woods, Gutt and Soto trekked through the woods to find the herd but they're not any closer to their goal.
"Grrr… I feel like a molehog who can't find a way out of its hole. These woods are like an endless maze!" Soto ranted.
"Calm yourself, matey. I feel the same way. But we'll be fine until we deal with our adversaries." Gutt reassured the saber.
"I guess you're ri- eh?" The saber was cut off from a loud snore in vicinity.
The mammals went to the source of the snoring and found a sleeping albino baryonyx.
"Wh-What in the world is that thing?" The saber asked in shock.
"It looks to me a dinosaur there. But I thought those lizards were long gone." The ape replied.
"I thought so too but shouldn't we get a move on before this overgrown giant tries to kill us?" The saber asked the captain.
"Aye, we should." The ape replied as both mammals snuck past the albino and little did they know, the dino slowly opens his left eye and watches the mammals walk deeper into the woods.
In the other part of the woods, Sid and Fang are dashing through the woods until they came to a stop.
"I think we're very far from the herd." Sid said.
"Hmm… Maybe we should-" Fang was cut off from a yell nearby.
The two mammals peeked through the tree and saw the rabbit, badger and saber in a bind. The wolf walks out and laughs at the misfortunate animals.
"A little tangled up are we?" The wolf taunted.
"Why don't you- Eeep!" Squint said in a scared tone as he hid behind the saber.
"You're that wolf!" Zeke started.
"You know him?" Gupta asked and the saber nodded.
"Wow! I've never seen a bunny scared of a wolf before." The sloth teased.
"You're the thugs that are after Sid and his herd, right?" The wolf asked in a stern tone.
"Yes ve are and ve'll add you as a bonus!" The badger replied as he urged his companions to fight the wolf and sloth.
"I handle this…" The wolf whispers to the sloth as he single-handedly pounds the villains much to the sloth's shock.
"Whoa…" The sloth said speechless as he sees the saber, badger and rabbit lying on the ground in pain.
"Pretty good, huh? Now, let's jet!" The wolf said to the sloth as they both fled the scene.
"I…am gonna…tear dem…limb from limb…next time…" The badger retorts about the wolf and sloth in pain as he loses consciousness.
As they're getting away, Sid and Fang bumped into a kangaroo while running away.
"Oy! Watchit ya- Well, well, well… I found me a sloth an' his mutty pal." Raz said evilly as she brandishes her puffer mace.
"My name is Fang, ya banshee!" The wolf retorts at the kangaroo.
"Uh, Fang? It's best not to get on that harpy's bad side." The sloth nervously warns the wolf but unknowingly insults the kangaroo.
"Ya some couple of funny land lubbers, are ya?" The kangaroo sarcastically asked with a grimace.
"Um… Not really." The sloth replied nervously.
"Whateva. I'll start with that bloomin' mutt." The kangaroo said as she tries to hit Fang with the mace but she was quickly tackled by the wolf and the canine snatched the weapon out of the marsupial's paws and into his mouth.
"Nice one, Fang!" The sloth cheered.
The wolf nods as he jumps off the kangaroo and tosses the weapon aside.
"Argh! Ya mangy mutt! Fine, I'll deal with this sloth mahself!" Raz retorted as she starts to attack Sid but he narrowly dodges her blows and grabs her leg and pulls to make her topple onto the ground.
"If you give, then me and Fang won't have to harm you." The sloth warned the kangaroo.
"Like hell…" The kangaroo retorts as she kicks the sloth away and gets up.
"OK… I warned ya. Fang!" The sloth called to the wolf.
"Right!" The wolf said as he grabs the marsupial by the tail with his teeth and chucks her to a nearby tree which severely injures the kangaroo.
"Good one! Now, let's go!" The sloth said as he and the wolf dashes away from the villains.
"Great… Just great… I got mah tail handed ta me by a mutt an' a sloth." The kangaroo said as she struggles to stand.
In the other part of the woods, the other group of pirates searches for the herd but no avail.
"This is tiring… How long until we find that mammoth and his pals?" Lenny asked.
"I'd say never… Unless we running around in circles…" Silas bitterly replied.
"I agree with and- huh? Whoa!" Oscar said as he comes to a halt when he got to the clearing.
"Ooh! What is it? Oh…" Flynn said as he and the others find their comrades lying on the ground next to the injured kangaroo.
"Miss Raz, what happened here?!" The petrel asked in shock.
"I said: drop the formalities, mate… An' ta yer question, a sloth an' his mutty pal happened." Raz bitterly replied to her crewmate.
"What mutty pal?" The saber asked the marsupial.
"Hey, Oscar… Do you think it's that wolf we've met back at Half-Peak?" The Scimitar cat asked.
"I think you be may be onto something, Lenny." The saber replied.
"What?! Ya know that mutt?!" The kangaroo asked in shock and anger.
"Well, it's a long story… You see…" The serious saber replied as he explains the pirate.
In the other part of the woods, Sid and Fang are dashing through the woods and soon came to a stop. Both mammals decided to rest on the tree's base before moving again.
"I'm tired… Stupid pirates... Why can't they leave me alone?" Sid asked himself in frustration.
"Maybe, they think you're special to them and they want you to join them." Fang suggested with a smirk.
"Not funny…" The sloth replied in a slight angry tone as he gave the wolf a nasty glare.
"Lighten up, man. I'm just glad to see you again." The wolf reassured the sloth.
"Same here…" The sloth said as he hugs the canine.
Suddenly, the mammals heard a few rustling from the bushes nearby and the wolf get out of the sloth's grasp and got into defensive position.
"Who's there?!" The sloth demanded as he got into defensive position as well.
Out of the bushes was a tiny baby boar and the sloth walked up to it. The young swine backed away from the sloth in fear.
"It's OK little guy. I'm not gonna hurt ya." Sid reassures the swine.
"Sid, wait. I don't think this little guy likes us." Fang replied as he walks up to the boar.
"I'm sure it's harmless. Come on, little fella… We're a harmless sloth and wolf." The sloth said quietly towards the young swine.
The young boar slowly walks up to the sloth and sniffs him. The sloth then pets the swine on its head and the boar sat down and enjoys his treatment.
"See? It's harmless. Let's take him with us." The sloth said to the wolf as he continues rubbing the baby swine.
"OK… But I don't feel comfortable about taking someone's child." The wolf said to the sloth and the boar lowers its head in sadness.
"What's wrong little guy? Did you lose your folks?" The sloth asked the young boar.
The swine snorts sadly and nuzzles the sloth affectionately like he's its new dad and the wolf smirks at the sloth at this.
"I guess we can keep it… I would feel horrible if leave the orphan behind." The wolf suggested.
"Same here. Welcome to the group little buddy." The sloth said as he accepted the boar.
The wolf and sloth walks deeper into the woods with their new boar companion. But the mammals are unaware that they are being watched by a large albino who quietly stalks them.
Sid is reunited with the wolf named Fang and they found a young boar companion. Diego and the other are searching desperately for Sid hoping he's OK. Rudy is quietly following the sloth and the wolf hoping to kill them.
