~Aoi's POV~
After a few minutes of chatting, I said good-bye to Hinata. Then began to consider how this incident will affect the plan.
'Honestly, I'm not too sure how to go about the plan. At first I wanted to strangle Misaki because she caught us off guard. But now, I'm not so sure. Maybe, maybe she's actually helped the situation.' As I reached my room, I sat pensively on one of the expensive couches and contemplated our situation. 'The plan was to have everything occur in the kitchen, but seeing Hinata in the hallways seems more normal. Plus she seemed to have a reaction when I mentioned Yuzu and Usui being friends…Heh, the plan can go forward like expected.'
After coming to a pleasant conclusion, I got up to arrange my next outfit. I pulled out a silver and midnight blue princess ball gown. 'I chose this dress because it is one of my more modern designs and if Misa sees it, then maybe she'd see how cute I am and that cute is the only way to go.' The second I put the dress on a hanger my phone started to ring.
''Hello?"
A relieved and urgent voice answers back, "Oh Aoi! Thank goodness you answered right away! Misaki just left to go to your room."
Shocked I responded with a strained voice. "W-what do you mean she's coming here!"
"Calm down, Aoi. Just listen to me." I didn't respond. 'How could she do this to me! I need her to be here for me!' Taking my silence as agreement she began to explain. "As you know, one of the dresses has a tear. I could normally fix it quickly, but I think this would be a good time to get Misa to come to her senses. I want you to stick with her. This is also our defense against Hinata." I could hear her voice ring with determination.
Even though I still feel a bit of betrayal, I could see the logic in my aunt's thinking. But I still had a question. "What do I do if she finds out?"
"Finds out what? About the plan or other things?"
I could feel my annoyance rising. "I honestly don't care whether she finds out about the plan. But she's probably too dense to figure it out." I heard a sniff on the other side of the phone, 'she's probably trying to bite down a laugh…or she's upset with me for being mean to Misa.'"Fine! I'll take care of everything."
With that I hung up the phone.
'Oh. My. Gosh. I've been sitting here waiting for Misa to get here for the past ten minutes. I could've been brushing my golden mane in this time. Seriously what's taking so lo-'
At that moment there was a knock on the door. 'It's probably that she-man.' Getting up, I was prepared to scold Misa for being so late, but the second I opened the door, the words got stuck in my throat. Before me stood a flustered looking Misa. Her hair was slightly wild, her face was pink with exertion or embarrassment; I couldn't tell which one exactly. I could feel my heart palpitations increase. My skin started getting warmer and I could feel my cheeks turning pink. I wasn't sure what was going on with me but one thing was clear. 'She…she is absolutely bea-'
My thoughts were cut off as she forced her way inside, knocking me to the side a bit. 'Yup. Just as I thought. She is absolutely beastly.' "Seriously, Misa? Can't you go for five minutes with some class? What the heck were you doing that got you so disheveled? Honestly, how am I supposed to make my appearance when my chaperone looks awful?"
She just shrugged nonchalantly. "Hey, Aoi, I'm sorry. I got a bit lost and then I heard a commotion in the kitchen…" Her thoughts cut off and I thought I saw a glimpse of a hurt expression. 'I'm not quite sure what happened in the kitchen, but I do know that Usui and Yuzu are stationed there…Crud! Usui better not have screwed up! I swear if he hurt Misa, then he'll have hell to pay!'
'Wait. What? Ugh, never mind we're on a busy schedule here.'
"Hey, Misa can you put on this dress?" She turned to see me holding a long dark purple, almost black, gown with matching elbow length gloves.
Seemingly puzzled, she grabs the dress. As she opens her mouth, probably to question why, I cut her off. "Satsuki was supposed to wear it as my chaperone, but seeing as she is busy, you'll have to wear it in her stead."
~Misaki's POV~
Somewhat startled at Aoi's curt tone, I tried to defend myself. "You know, it isn't my fault that Honoka's dress ripped." Rolling her eyes, Aoi just nodded and pointed to the dress.
Gripping the bottom of my shirt I began to pull it up over my head when Aoi let out a shrill yelp.
"S-stop! Wh-what do you think you're doing!" She covered her eyes and turned around blushing.
"I'm changing, duh. You told me to put the dress on, so that's what I'm doing." 'Seriously, she's so picky. First she tells me to change, then she tells me not to.' I sigh and throw up my hands. 'Girls.'
"Do you always change in front of others? Can't you have some decency and change in the bathroom? Jeez, you get more manly each passing minute." 'Uh, ouch. I have feelings too princess.'
In order to appease her majesty, I retrieved the dress and took it to the bathroom with me.
After a few minutes, I got the dress on. Unfortunately, I suffered the same problem of many women who put on dresses…the zipper. I yanked, pulled and squeezed, but that zipper would not go all the way up. Reluctantly, I opened the bathroom door to ask Aoi for help.
"Hey, Aoi, can you hel-" 'Um, what?' Quickly closing then opening the door I checked to see if my eyes had deceived me. Nope. In front of me was a 13 year old boy with blue black hair wearing Aoi's dress and holding a golden wig.
"M-Misa!" Turning red, the boy tried putting the wig on his head.
Suddenly, it clicked. Aoi was not Idol Aoi, but rather Aoi-kun. Instantly, many things went into place. Like when Satsuki would call Aoi a him or why she would get annoyed with him wearing dresses all the time.
~Aoi-kun's POV~
'Great. Just great. The she-man just found out I'm a boy. She's probably going to start laughing at me.'
"A-Aoi, you're a boy?" 'Wow she's a bit slower than I thought.'
Rolling my eyes, I gave her an are-you-serious look. "Duh, I'm a boy. I'm actually surprised you just found out. We've known each other for months."
Her face was absolutely priceless. She looked so confused and was gaping. I snickered at her response. She snapped out of her stupor and grinned. 'What?' Striding over to me, she fixed my wig and leaned in to whisper to me. I shivered at the contact. "Aoi. If you can wear a dress, can I wear slacks?"
'Seriously.' I deadpanned. 'Leave it to her to find a way of of cute-ness. "No, Misa, you have to wear the dress. And you can't tell anyone about me being a boy. Though I'm pretty sure everyone has guessed already. I mean, how do you explain walking in the men's restroom a boy and walking out a girl. Also, I'm not gay. I just like cute things like lace, and satin, and bows, oh and there's this new line of-"
I stopped my rambling when I heard cute giggling. I gave her an evil glare which made her smile. "Relax, Aoi. I'm not going to tell anybody. Though you're probably right, our coworkers probably already know you're a boy."
With relief flooding through me, I grinned at my new ally. 'Maybe helping her and Usui won't be such a bad thing, especially if I get to see her smile more. "You still can't wear slacks."
"Dang it!"
~Banquet Hall~ Filler~
We were all sitting in our assigned table for the award ceremony, which is held before the banquet. Chatting amiable, we quelled our conversations as the lights began to dim and a spotlight went to a young woman with long curly brown hair, a fashionable black dress and heels.
"Hello, ladies and gentlemen in the audience, as well as you viewers at home. Welcome to the awards ceremony for Royale Talent Enterprises. I'm Misaki Sarutobi* and I'll be your host for tonight's award ceremony. "
There was enthusiastic clapping all around.
"Misaki is one of my favorite artists! She is charitable and a great performer!" I vaguely remember that Aoi had mentioned her before. Something about us having the same name, but she was elegant and graceful whereas…I wasn't.
"Is she famous?" This time it was Honoka who answered. "Duh she's famous. She's the lead rapper and dancer to the group 'As You Wish.'" 'Yeah, like I know who that is.'
In an annoyed voice, Aoi shut us up. "People be quiet! The first category is coming up."
"For the category of Sweetest Chords, we have an award for an up and coming performer who has really out done herself. "Around me, people were humming with excitement, I could hear some people betting on who would win. "She has the record of being in the HOT 100 Chart, as well as most requested song for the year 20XX. Give it up for Chiaki!"
Thunderous applause and catcalls went out as a teenager with dirty blond hair went up and gave the MC a hug. As Chiaki* was giving her 'Thank You' speech, our girls went at it again.
"She totally deserved that spot!" Manager defended with a gusto I haven't seen in a while.
"I'm not saying she didn't, I'm a big fan of hers, I just don't think that song should've been praised so much." Honoka tried to defend herself.
"Are. You. Kidding! That song examines the passion of the heart and psyche in a way that no other person could do! And she's only 18!" Manager's Flowers of Moe began to flow around her as she described the passionate singer.
Deadpanning, Honoka gave a skeptical glance towards Manager. "You're joking right? What part of 'Let's Get Down' is heart-filled?"
Gazing at Honoka, Manager got a weird gleam in her eye. "What did you say?"
Somewhat nervous, Honoka repeated her accusations.
Suddenly the whole table was filled with amiable laughter. "Oh gosh! Honoka! 'Let's Get Down' was a parody! She was making fun of a different song. It was a request from a fan."
Embarrassed Honoka just gave us all a look that screamed, "Shut up."
"For our fourth category, we have Inspiring Performances. This actress is an old friend of mine. We debuted around the same time, of course, in our respective fields. She is receiving this award for her stellar performance that'll just captivate you, my dear friend Amaya Hatake*, for her number one, box office hit, "Falling in a Trance."
There was enthusiastic applause as the silver haired actress went up to receive her award. She gave a quick hug to her friend and gave her 'Thank You' speech, cutting short every few seconds as she'd giggle or choke back a sob.
Sighing, Zen spoke up and said, "Wow I didn't even recognize her. In the movie she had black hair that slowly turned silver, but now her hair is all one color.'
This time Aoi spoke up, "Yeah, her hair is naturally silver, but she thought it would be more symbolic is her hair color changed during the movie."
"Wow, she must have a lot of dedication to her work." Everyone agreed with me.
Stretching her arms, Satsuki smiled and said, "You know, Amaya and Misaki, the MC, both went to Konoha Academy. They met in the middle school division."
Nodding her head, Erika agreed and said, "I heard they were both on the competitive team, though Amaya decided that acting was her forte."
Smiling, Manager said, "You know who else went there?"
Receiving a unanimous "no," Satsuki grinned and replied, "Yuzuyu Takeshi and Hinata Shintani, though they are a few years younger."
A collective gasp was heard around the table. 'If Yuzu went to such a prestigious school, does that mean that she's at an even higher level than previously thought? Does that mean that even though I don't, because I refuse to un-melt my heart, that Usui would, no, should go with her?'
After that thought the ceremony continued on until the intermission. That was the cue for all of Maid Latte to head off to go and prepare to serve. Since I was Aoi's chaperone, I stayed with him at the table.
During the banquet portion, all of the debut artists were introduced, including Hinata, who I must say, looked absolutely dashing in his black tux with navy blue tie. Once dinner was completed and plates were taken away, the awards ceremony began again.
"This award is for a pretty little thing, who always dresses for the occasion. Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like you to give a warm welcome to the Internet Star of the Year, Aoi-chan!"
All around, people smiled and cheered. Aoi went on stage and gave a cute smile. Basically, he did the Aoi thing and pulled off cute like nobody's business.
When he came back to our table, we all gave him a warm hug. When we were done, he was blushing profusely, but tried to play it off.
After we stopped gushing over Aoi, Satsuki told us we had the permission to go and wander off or stay in the banquet hall for the performances.
I took that as my cue to get out of my dress. Honestly, the dress was beautiful, but the air conditioner was cold and I really wanted to be in the comfort of my pants again. Plus, I wanted to grab a snack from the kitchen. I know dinner was just served, but I couldn't settle my thoughts. The thought of Yuzu and Usui was un-nerving.
So there I was again, in front of the kitchen doors, not expecting what was inside.
