Well, I have to apologize for the painfully long wait... again. School started back up and with work I've been tired. Plus this past week has been super stressful for multiple reasons. But... I haven't forgotten y'all! :) So thanks to the reviewers - nangelgirl923, AFlawlessBeauty, Thecowgoesmoo29, and Ace5492!
14/15 years old - The Apology
"I'm sorry."
They were at their old elementary school. He was on the playground by the pirate ship steering wheel and she was on one of the swings. The kids that had been there before were already gone, probably getting ready for dinner with their families. They were alone.
Zora laughed. "What are you talking about?"
"For everything." Shayne shrugged. "Everything bad I've done to you. Pushing you in the lake, breaking your wrist, pushing you in the lake... again. Uh, tripping you during a soccer game, pulling your hair..."
"Okay, stop. I think I've got it." She started moving the swing back and forth, keeping her feet to the ground. "And, I'm sorry too."
"For what? All you've ever done is fight back. I was the bully." He chuckled. "Besides, it's not like you meant for me to break me leg when you dared me to climb up to the top of the tree."
"Actually..."
"You did mean for it to happen?"
"No, no," Zora said. "When I dared you to climb all the way to the top, I was hoping you'd be too scared to come down, and you'd be stuck up there for the better part of the day."
"That probably would've happened," Shayne said, making Zora laugh. "Hey, shut up!"
"What? It's funny that you admit that," Zora said. She smiled. "Come on, you can't stay mad at me."
Shayne smirked. "I can't, can I?"
"Nope. Not even you can resist my adorable, innocent puppy face."
"I sure can. If I remember correctly, I once wiped it right off your face when I pushed you into the mud at the bus stop." He grinned when Zora's smile faltered. "Yeah, I can resist it babe."
"Okay, first of all, don't call me 'babe.' It's kinda creepy..."
"How so?" Shayne asked. "Girls find it attractive when they're called 'babe.'"
"Not when said girl is your best friend," Zora said.
"Well, Stella doesn't care when me, Jordan, or Levi call her babe," Shayne said. "And she's one of our best friends."
"Well, I care," Zora said.
"Why?"
"I just do!"
"Give me a reason, and I'll never call you 'babe' again," Shayne said.
"Ugh, whatever. It's stupid," Zora said standing up from the swing.
"So?"
"Fine." Zora placed her hands in her pockets, not making eye contact with him. "It makes me feel weird when you call me that."
He leaned on the railing of the playground. "How so?"
"I don't know, like... like we should be dating or something," Zora said kicking some wood-chips. "It's just really weird for me, okay?"
Shayne's smile fell as he looked at his best friend. She still avoided his eyes for a reason he couldn't point out. He nodded, not that she saw, and climbed down off of the playground. He walked over to her, and lifted her head so she made eye contact with him.
"I'm sorry," he said. "I won't call you that anymore if it really makes you that uncomfortable. I don't wanna ruin our friendship over a stupid nickname. And if it ever slips up, just punch me or something, okay?" He held his arms out for a hug.
Zora smiled and hugged him. "Oh, I will."
Isn't that just cute?
Yeah... I got a cavity writing that, lol :P
So, if you have read "Facebook Official" you know what's coming next... I hope.
Anyway, until next time!
