Just a little hello... Hi.
Shawn wrapped his arm around Juliet's shoulder and kissed her cheek. Juliet happily smiled and patted his chest. The two were in their own little cocoon of happiness while chaos reigned around them. That chaos was the Spencer's and the O'Hara's. Henry and Lloyd were yelling at each other, while Maryanne and Maddie defended their men. Shawn sighed and let his forehead touch Juliet's; "Should we try and stop them?" he whispered lightly bumping his nose to hers.
"Didn't work five minutes ago, I don't think it'll work this time baby." Juliet joined in with a sigh and looked at her parents. By now, Henry and Lloyd's faces were both red. Maddie was clenching her fists and gritting her teeth.
"They don't need an enormous wedding." Henry shouted for the hundredth time.
"This will hopefully be their only wedding, it should be grand." Lloyd argued.
"Their love is what will make it grand." Maddie spoke up from behind Henry.
"Cliché point goes to mom." Shawn whispered into Juliet's ear. She chuckled and smacked his chest playfully.
"Of course but…" Maryanne began to say but was cut off by Henry.
"No buts. They have an amazing relationship. What more do they need?" Henry made a gesture with his hands as if he was going to pull his hair.
"A grand way to show that." Lloyd pointed a finger at Henry.
"Stop saying grand. Use some other adjective." Henry hissed returning the movement. Shawn closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He knew his family would never give up, and it seemed like neither would Juliet's. Shawn watched as his mother tried to calm his father with a hand on his shoulder. Henry shrugged it off and continued his staring match with Lloyd.
"Okay guys enough." Juliet announced bouncing up from the seat and walking in-between the two families. "Thank you all for your opinions. They will be taken into account. But ultimately…" Juliet clapped her hands once and looked at Shawn. "It's Shawn and I who are getting married. What we want is what will be happening for the wedding. Music choices, food, guest's lists and anything else, will be made by us."
"That means theme, color and patterns. They will also be in those categories." Shawn added from the couch. Juliet nodded and motioned a hand to him.
"Thank you baby. He's right. Those count too. Now can we all get along? Please? The wedding is just under two weeks; we need to get this done." Juliet finished looking at the two fathers.
"Yes of course Juliet, we're sorry." Maddie apologized and Henry nodded. Lloyd gave a grunt and a shaky smile appeared on Maryanne's face.
"Do you have anything planned? Bride's maids? Grooms men?" Her mother asked nervously.
"Actually, yes. I'm going to ask Chief Vick and Marlowe to be in the wedding. And I was going to ask for you to be my maid of honor mom." Juliet looked at her mom.
"Oh of course Julie." Her mom nodded.
"I've got Gus as my best man." Shawn stood.
"Of course." Henry mumbled earning a smack from Maddie.
Shawn chuckled and continued walking until he was standing next to Juliet. "Then I'm going to have my dad be in it." Shawn gave Henry a pleading look. "And that's it." Juliet smacked Shawn's chest with the back of her hand and with his teeth together Shawn mumbled, "And Lassie."
"Who?" Henry asked.
"Lassie." Shawn said louder crossing his arms.
"That's what I thought you said." Henry smiled. Shawn shook his head and turned to his father. "Keep acting that way and I won't let you within forty feet of this wedding."
"Who said I was going to be there?" Henry shot back. Maddie sighed at the boy's verbal spar. The O'Hara's –not knowing the normal relationship between the two- they took it seriously.
"You don't want to go to your only son's wedding?" Maryanne put a hand over her heart and gasped.
"It was joke." Maddie smiled. "The boys joke. May not be very funny, but they joke." Maddie explained. Maryanne nodded and let her hand drop.
"Can we go home now?" Shawn asked Juliet. She sighed and tucked her hair behind her ear. "I think that's a very good idea. I have a headache." Everyone nodded. And they left the Spencer house.
"Are you okay sweetie?" Shawn asked looking at Juliet. She'd been silent ever since they left the house. As soon as they had gotten into the car Juliet had turned on the AC and rested her head against the window. Shawn gripped her hand with his.
"Yeah I'm fine. Just don't like all the arguing that's happening." She looked at Shawn. Her face was red and her eyes were heavy and watery.
"Let me get you home and settled into your abode. I'll leave you some soup and then I'll go back to my place and call you later." He gave her a sweet smile and kissed the palm of her hand.
"Don't go home." She whispered.
"Hm?" he looked at her. She shifted in her seat so she was facing him.
"Shawn. Do you know what marriage means?" she pressed her hands together, staring at him intently.
He looked at her, "Uh… It means I'm going to be stuck with you for the rest of my life? In a good way of course…" he added at Juliet's look.
"What else." She motioned with her hands.
"Bills? Fluffy bunnies? Maybe a goldfish or two." He guessed. Juliet sighed and shook her head. "What Jules? Goldfish die early." He shrugged.
"Not the fish Shawn. My point is, when you're married you kind of have to live with each other." Juliet's tone sounded as mother who was giving clear instructions to her child.
"No duh Jules." Shawn said as he began to focus on his driving more than the current conversation.
"We don't live together yet Shawn." Juliet reminded him.
"Oh yeah. We don't do we?"
"Thank you Captain Obvious…" Juliet returned to her previous position in the seat.
"I guess we should move in together." Shawn mumbled parking the car in front of her place.
"You think?" he smiled and kissed her cheek.
"You're adorable." He got out of the car and shut his door softly. He rushed to the other side and opened Juliet's door. He even held out his hand for her.
"Thanks." She accepted his hand and let him help her out of the car. He shut the door softly and they walked to the door in silence. Juliet opened the entry and they walked into the house. The heat was still surrounding the city and Shawn wasn't sure how much more he could take.
"You think it'll still be hot in two weeks?" Shawn asked collapsing onto the couch. Juliet walked into the kitchen and removed a beer and a cold water bottle from the refrigerator. She turned and walked into the living room. She fell into Shawn's arms and kicked her feet onto the couch. Shawn took the can from her popped it open.
"I hope not. Why?" she looked up at him, her head resting on his lap. He took a long gulp and sighed happily. "I was thinking of going somewhere cold for our honeymoon. Like Alaska cold." Shawn placed the can onto the coffee table as Juliet laughed.
"But then we'd be cold." She said.
"And we could cuddle." Shawn took the water bottle from her and opened it. Juliet nodded her thanks and took a sip. Shawn stroked her head and sighed happily. "How's your head?"
"It's better." Juliet smiled. "Thank you. You take oh so good care of me." Shawn chuckled and cupped her cheek.
"I'll always take care of you." Juliet kissed Shawn's fingers as they skimmed over her lips.
Juliet sighed, "I just wish our parents would get along. This is a big day for us." Juliet ran her finger through her hair."
"I know right? Like, we're only gonna be married for like ever." Shawn said in a high school girl voice. Juliet broke out into a fit of giggles and slapped his leg.
"Dammit Shawn…" Juliet got out through her giggles. She rolled onto her side and pressed her head into his stomach. Shawn laughed and rubbed her waist; he bent his head down and kissed below her ear. "God. I really found the perfect guy." Juliet glanced up at him and kissed his belly. Shawn nodded and began to stroke her hair again.
"What can I say? You landed a sexy beast Jules…" Juliet was about to open her mouth when Shawn's phone let out a loud beep. "Who is it?" Shawn reached over and grabbed his phone.
"Hello?" Shawn answered the call.
"Get down here." His father commanded. Before Shawn could ask questions Henry had hung up.
"It was my dad." Shawn mumbled getting up. Juliet let him stand and she watched him carefully.
"What's wrong?" she asked.
"Not sure. He just wants me down there." Shawn headed towards the door.
"Wait for me." She got up and moved to follow him. Shawn turned and placed his hands on her hips. "You stay here." He kissed her head and backed her up until she fell back onto the couch.
"But Shawn…." She protested.
"No Jules. You're not feeling well. I'll call you if something is that wrong." And with that Shawn kissed her one more time and was out the door before she could argue.
