I will try to Fix you
Authors Note(I don't own any of the Glee characters) It's been awhile since I last updated this, and I'm sorry about that. I don't like to force myself to write, and I kind of had writers block, hopefully that has ended, and I can give you regular updates. Enjoy.
Fabray-Lopez: I'm glad you like it, sorry for the late update. Thanks for the review.
Rainbowbright108: No, but being a doctor it wasn't a complete shock. I agree, so cute, lol. You'll have to keep reading to find out, haha. Thanks for the review.
KDMM: Thank you so much, I'm glad you're enjoying the story. Wow, you have high expectations, no pressure, lol. Thanks for the review.
Guest: I'm going to try to be as nice as I can be for how rude your review is. I said I ended it because it got too long, because I have this OCD thing with my stories that I don't want one chapter to be way longer than the rest of them. I don't want my readers to enjoy a long chapter, then have to settle for a shorter one, so I try to keep them all around the same length. I wouldn't consider that "poor storytelling." Undeveloped characters, bad grammar, and stupid mistakes like misspelled words, is what I consider poor storytelling.
Jammy: You're welcome! Ikr? I couldn't even fully enjoy the stories I've read on this subject. Idk how some authors can forget stuff like a job, and money, it's in our own lives daily, why forget it in a story? Keep reading and you'll see, lol. Yes, I agree Nicholas is crazy, and in time you'll see just how crazy he is. Idk why you thought that either. I don't like to spoil things, but Santana's mother is alive. What Nicholas said will eventually make sense, I promise. Maybe she is, lol(; I'm glad you still like it, lol, thanks for the review and enjoy the update.
Guest 2: I think I might have told another guest this in the last update, so I hope you read this so I don't have to repeat myself again. Please don't ask me to update. I promise I will, it's more helpful to me if you tell me what you did or didn't like in the story, thank you. Enjoy.
: I understand no one wants their favorite characters to be hurt or in pain, but I can't make any promises since Idk myself rn what's going to happen if/when Nicholas sees Santana again. I think she should too(; Thanks for the review, enjoy the update.
Guest 3: You reviewed this the 11th of July, and if I'm not mistaken that story has been updated since then. If not, it should be soon(:
Santana looks down at her lap, with a hint of a smile. She doesn't feel like the same Santana, cause she doesn't know who that person is, but it's still nice to hear, to know she hasn't changed completely. She sighs, then looks back up at Tina.
"So, tell me what the hell you were thinking."
Chapter Seven
Tina sighs and shifts in her seat. "Like I told you before, I was being selfish, and I'm sorry. It's just, I suspected the abuse for awhile." Santana cringes at the word abuse.
"And before I left for college, I wanted to tell my father. He's the chief of police in our hometown. But I knew I needed proof, and whenever I would bring it up, you changed the subject, so I couldn't. Before I left, I asked my mom to watch you. Then weeks later I get a call that you ran away."
Santana narrows her eyes. "So, you wanted to find proof in my diary?" She asks, confirming if she's understanding the other brunette correctly. She nods, guilty. "What do you plan on doing with this new information you found? We're not in Lima anymore."
"I know, but I still needed to know for myself. I'm glad we're not in Lima anymore, but I'm afraid your father is still looking for you, and he won't stop until he does." She confesses.
Santana looks at her confused. "How can you know that?"
"You don't remember much about him, but I know him well, and before I came here, I went to your house." She admits. "He's very possessive of you, San, and I don't why." A chill runs up the Latina's back. "He said something under his breath, something about you weren't supposed to leave."
Santana sighs. "What are you saying, that I should expect my father to knock on our door?"
"No, I don't know if he'll find you. There's a 50/50 chance he will. I just know he's looking, and when I got back from work I called my parents to keep an eye on him. Your father isn't very liked in our town, it wouldn't be a surprise to anyone if the truth got out. It's the proof we needed to send him to jail, but you ran away."
Santana nods, taking it all in. "I may not have all my memories back, but I'm grateful I left from what I do remember."
Tina nods. "I understand, I do, but do you understand why I did what I did?" She asks, hopeful.
Santana sighs. She did have somewhat good intentions reading her diary. Her best friend just wanted to know if she was safe or not, and she can't really blame her for that after being told she never spoken to her about it.
"Yea, I do. Just please don't do it again." She pleads. "I'd like to find out on my own what happened to me, so I have a better chance of getting my memory back."
Tina breaths a sigh of relief. "I won't, I promise." There's a short awkward silence. "Do you want to know what I read?"
Santana shakes her head. "No. I'm going to call Quinn to let her know we're done here, so she can take me to the hospital to visit Elizabeth." Before Tina could say anymore, Santana gets up and goes to the kitchentte to retrieve the phone.
Tina sighs, then follows her. "You should know what happened, San." Santana ignores her, as she dials Quinn's number. "If he finds you, you should know."
Santana shakes her head. "I don't want to. You said there's a 50/50 chance he'll find me, and I'd like to believe the other 50 that he won't."
"But-" Tina tries to reason with her, but Santana cuts her off.
"It's not something I want to remember, ok? I don't even like the memories I have of him now, so will you please, just, stop." She pleads.
Tina sighs, feeling guilty for pushing her best friend. "I'm sorry, you're right. I just worry about you. I don't want him to find you, but if he does, I just want you to be prepared. Anything can trigger your memories, I don't want that to happen when he's standing right in front of you, it'll be so much harder to take." She admits.
Quinn answers her phone, and Santana tells her to hold on so she can speak to Tina first. "I appreciate that, but let me decide what I want to remember."
Tina reluctantly nods, then thinks if she should tell the brunette about Elliot's band playing at The Twist and decides against it, knowing there's a chance she won't want to go. "I'm going to buy more food. Have fun with Quinn." She gives Santana a quick hug before leaving.
Santana sighs, then returns to the blonde on the other end of the phone. "Sorry about that. Me and Tina are done talking, can you pick me up?"
"Sure. Is everything ok?"
"Yea, I'm not mad anymore. She explained why she did it, and now I just want to be with you, and visit Elizabeth." She can't see it, but Quinn blushes at her confession, liking that the brunette wants to spend the rest of the afternoon with her.
"I'll be there in a few minutes."
"Ok, see you soon, bye."
Santana hangs up the phone and sits at the table with a sigh. She's starting to understand why she left Lima, and why she never discussed her father with Tina. It's beginning to make her re-think even wanting to get her memories back.
How much of them will actually be good? Was she ever happy, or did she always suffer under her father's hand? She's not so sure she wants to find out. A knock on the door disrupts her from her thoughts. Santana takes a deep breath before getting up and opening it. Quinn of course is on the other side with a friendly smile she's grown to love already.
"Ready?"
She nods then grabs her keycard before closing the door behind them. "How did your shopping go?" Santana asks, not wanting any silence between them, and Quinn smiles knowingly.
"Good, I just had to get a few things." Santana nods in silence, not knowing what else to say as they make their way out of the building. "Did you get a call from Cathy yet?"
She shakes her head. "No, not yet. I know you really want me to get that job, but if she hasn't called, I think that means she couldn't get me an interview."
Quinn shrugs. "Or maybe it just means she hasn't been able to get in contact with you. The phone in your hotel doesn't have an answering machine, it's not like she could leave a message." She points out.
Santana nods. "True. We'll see then."
Reaching the car, without thinking about it, Quinn opens the door for Santana, making them both blush. Then she hurries around the car to get in herself and avoids looking at the brunette next to her as she turns the car on.
The dirve is spent in comfortable silence, but neither girl minds. Quinn escorts Santana through the hospital, and to Elizabeth's room. The little girl is alone, and has Spongebob on while she colors. Quinn lightly knocks on the door, getting her attention. She looks up and smiles brightly, seeing Santana behind Quinn.
"Tana!"
Santana smiles in response, walking past Quinn to get to the little girl. She scoops her up in her arms and hugs her tightly. "Lizzie bear, how are you? Did you miss me?"
Elizabeth hugs her back just as tightly, then leans back to answer her questions. "I'm doing better. The medicine is shrinking the bug in my brain, and Dr. Quinn said if I don't have another seizure, I can go home." She happily announces.
"That's good to hear, I beat you can't wait to be home with your parents, huh?"
She nods. "I missed you." She confesses, making Santana smile. Quinn continues to stay by the door, content watching them with a smile of her own.
"I missed you, too."
"Come color with me."
Almost forgetting about Quinn, Santana looks over at the blonde. "Can Quinn color with us?"
Elizabeth nods then Santana puts her down on her bed before siting next to her. Quinn grabs a chair to sit next to the bed. Elizabeth pulls the small table normally used for when she eats closer to herself, Santana and Quinn so they can color. But instead of siting on the bed, she sits on Santana's lap. Then gives Quinn and Santana a page to color from her book.
"How was your therapy today, sweetie?" Quinn asks going into doctor mode.
"Good, but I still don't like it." Quinn and Santana both smile sympathtically.
"No one likes therapy, but it helps." She says looking at Santana. The brunette just sighs in response, getting the double meaning. Suddenly the door opens as Mercedes walks in.
"Why didn't you tell me you were coming?" She asks, crossing her arms offended her friend didn't say anything.
"I didn't realize you wanted me to."
Mercedes shrugs. "Touche. How you doing, girl?" She asks turning her attention to Santana.
"Ok, I guess."
Mercedes arches a brow. "Still in the dark, huh?" She nods. "Man that's gotta be hard, I can't imgaine forgetting my life. I'd go crazy if I were you."
Quinn glares at her friend. "Shouldn't you be working?"
Mercedes winces, feeling guilty. "Crap, I'm sorry. I have a disease called foot-in-mouth, and I tend to swallow it whole sometimes." She apologizes.
"It's ok."
Elizabeth looks up at Mercedes confused. "Why would you put your foot in you mouth?"
Santana chuckles. "It's just an expression."
"Oh." Elizabeth returns to her coloring, not wanting anymore part of their adult discussion.
"So what are your plans for tonight?" Mercedes asks Quinn.
"I don't have any other than visiting Elizabeth. Why do you ask?"
She shrugs. "Thought it would be a good night to go out again. We can go to The Twist." She suggests.
Quinn bites her lip. "I don't know, Cedes. I wasn't planning on going anywhere."
Mercedes crosses her arms, glaring at her friend. "We haven't gone out since-well you know when." Quinn sighs.
"If the invitation is extended, I'll go." Santana says, surprising them both.
"Really?" Mercedes asks.
Santana nods. "I could use a fun night out, and I would love it if Quinn came with us." She says looking to the blonde, and batting her eye lashes. Mercedes snorts, knowing she'll give in to her crush.
Quinn sighs, shaking her head, abliet with a smile. "Ok, I'll go."
Mercedes holds up her hand and Santana chuckles as she gives her a high five. "I'll see you two later." Mercedes says over her shoulder as she leaves the room.
"I finished my picture." Elizabeth announces, then holds up for Santana and Quinn to see.
"Very pretty." Santana praises.
"Good job, sweetie." Quinn says.
Elizabeth turns to Santana and gives it to her. "I colored it for you, Tana."
She smiles taking the picture from her, then kisses the top of her head. "Thank you. I'll have to frame this so I can put it on my nightstand." Elizabeth smiles in return, proud of herself.
Quinn looks at the time then gets up to grab a small ball siting on another chair in the room. "I was told you need some extra time with your therapy, which is why I asked you about it earlier. Do you want me and Santana to do it with you?" She nods enthusticastically, making her chuckle. "Ok, you have to let her get up though so we can throw it to her."
Elizabeth slides off Santana's lap and the brunette stands next to Quinn at the foot of the bed with enough space between them. Quinn throws it to Elizabeth, she throws it to Santana, and she throws it to Quinn. Since the last time Santana played catch with the little girl, she can see how much better she's gotten.
"You're doing so good." She praises her again, and the little girl smiles.
"I used to not like it, but the more I did it, the better I got. That's why if I don't have another seizure, I can go home." She happily says.
They continue to catch with the little girl and she continues to impress Santana until visiting hours are over. Sad about the news, Elizabeth pouts, not liking the idea of being alone again. She wraps her little arms around Santana's neck and hugs her as tight as she can.
"You promise you'll visit before I go home?"
Santana hugs her back, rubbing her back for comfort. "I promise, and I promise it won't be the last time we see each other. Maybe your parents will let me visit."
Elizabeth leans back from the embrace, still pouting. "But we don't live in New York. That's why Mommy and Daddy can't always be here, it's too far away." Santana frowns and looks to Quinn.
She nods, confirming Elizabeth is telling the truth. "They live in Connecticut. The hospital here was better for her." She further explains.
Santana turns to Elizabeth and continues to rub her back. "Well, I think I can make the drive every now and then."
The little girl smiles, loving the idea. "Promise?"
She nods and gives her a kiss on her cheek. "Of course. There are plenty of cabs here that could take me, we'll just have to ask your parents first."
"I don't think they'll mind." Santana chuckles and gives her another kiss.
"San, we better go now, visiting hours are over. Even though you're with me, they still enforce the rules." Santana hugs Elizabeth one last time before putting her back down on her bed and leaving with Quinn. "Feel better?" Quinn asks bumping her shoulder with the brunette's.
"Yea, I'm glad to see she's doing better. Thanks for taking me."
"Of course. Do you want me to take you back to the hotel to change into something more bar appropriate?" Santana stops in the hall, confusing the blonde and stopping along with her.
"When I took you shopping, I don't think we picked anything for a night out at a bar." She explains.
Santana tilts her head, thinking back on that day and realizes she's right. "Huh, we didn't." She notes.
"We can either go to the store now, and get something, or I might have something in my closet. Your pick." Quinn suggests.
"I don't want you to spend anymore money on me, let me see what you have."
Quinn nods. "Sure."
She doesn't show it, but Quinn's heart is beating miles a minute in her chest with just the idea of Santana being in her apartment. Oh god, calm down, Quinn. She's just going to your apartment. She thinks to herself as they walk out to her car. Little does she know Santana is thinking the same thing.
Arriving at the apartment, Quinn just grows more nervous as they get closer to her floor. Her palms are even getting clamy and sweaty. She fishes out her key from her purse, then with a deep breath, steps aside for Santana to go in first. The brunette however, is not surprised to see how nice Quinn's apartment is, since she is a doctor, but none the less, she's still impressed.
"Wow, you're really doing well for yourself."
Quinn blushes, closing the door behind them. "Thank you, my room is down the hall to your right."
Santana nods. "Ok, but I kind of want a tour first."
Quinn chuckles nervously as she sets her purse on the table next to the door. "Sure. As you can see we're in the living room."
She guides Santana further into the room, and spotting the piles of papers on her coffee table, her eyes widen at the sight, then she cleans up the mess, not wanting Santana to think she's always messy. But she doesn't see that the brunette actually finds it amusing, and cute.
"Sorry about the mess. I completely forgot about this, it'll just take me a minute to clean this up."
Curious, Santana picks up one of the papers and is surprised to see an article about how much an employee, specifically an advice columnist makes at The New York Times. She turns the paper so Quinn to see.
"Doing some research?"
Quinn blushes, and avoids Santana's gaze as she takes the paper from her. "A little. You were so worried about how much money you would be making, and I wanted to see for myself. I also looked up how much you would be making if you got a promotion, or branched off to a magazine."
Santana arches her brow, shocked, and feels her stomach flutter knowing Quinn cared enough to research it for her. "Thank you, that was really sweet of you."
Quinn's blush deepens. She shrugs then puts the pile of papers in the corner of the table, in a more neat pile. "You can look at those later if you want."
Quinn continues with the tour before ending it in her room. She opens her closet for Santana then steps aside for her to pick something out. "I don't know what will fit, or what you'll even like, but I hope you find something."
Santana nods. "Aren't you going to pick something to wear?"
"Yea, I can do that when you're done, though." Quinn sits on her bed while Santana takes her time to find something. While she does that, Quinn's cell phone rings from inside her purse in the other room. "I'll get that, you keep looking." She says before fetching her phone.
Santana is having a little trouble deciding an outfit. Not only are there a lot to choose from, she still doesn't know what would fit. So, instead of guessing, she decides to just pick something and try it on. She spots a sleeveless blue top and black and white patterned skirt to try on first. She takes them off the rack and on the bed, then starts to undress.
At the sametime Santana has taken off her shirt, Quinn walks into the room with her phone in hand, not realizing the brunette is getting dressed. Her mouth drops, shocked, and even aroused. Her eyes can't help but wonder over her chest and perfectly sculpted abs. Santana also blushes seeing the blonde openly leering at her, but then smirks, finding it amusing.
"See something you like?"
If its even possible, Quinn's blush deepens further, and she stutters, embarrassed she was caught. "I-I'm so sorry. I-I d-didn't know you were changing. T-Tina is on the phone for you." She avoids looking at Santana since her shirt is still off as she walks across the room to give the brunette her cell phone. "I'll give you some privacy."
Santana chuckles as Quinn rushes out of the room, then turns her attention to Tina, still waiting on the other end. "Hey, what's up?"
"Sorry, I know you're with Quinn, but I thought you should know Cathy called. The phone was ringing right when I walked in, she asked I tell you to call her back."
"Oh, that's awesome. Thanks for calling to tell me, but I don't have her number with me. I think the card she gave me is in my room on the nightstand."
"Yea, I'll get it. Hold on." Santana waits a minute for Tina to retrieve the card. While waiting, she puts on the shirt she wanted to try on, and is satisfied to see it fits. "Ok, the number is-"
"Wait, let me get a pen and paper." Santana looks around Quinn's room and spots post-it notes on a desk with some pens. "Ok."
"646-2740."
Santana quickly writes it down, then writes Cathy above it. "Thanks, Tina. I'll see you later tonight, I'm gonna go out with Quinn and her friend Mercedes."
"Oh, ok. That works out then, I'm going out too with Dani and her friend Elliot. I'll see you then."
"Ok, bye."
Santana hangs up the phone, then before giving it back to Quinn, she takes off her pants to put on the skirt. Walking out to the living room, she finds Quinn pacing the room and talking to herself. She chuckles in amusement, and again, she can't help to think how cute she can be.
"Thanks for letting me use your phone."
Quinn jumps, not expecting for Santana to walk in. She turns around and is speechless. Santana looks gorgeous, even more in the dress. Santana smiles knowingly.
"Tina called to tell me Cathy called." Quinn still says nothing, making her laugh more. Then she tries something else and steps forward and waves her hand in front of her face. "Q, my eyes are up here."
For the third time that day, Quinn blushes. "S-Sorry, what did you say?"
Santana continues to laugh, amused. "Tina, she said Cathy called. I got an interview."
Quinn gasps. "That's great news, San, congrats." She gives the brunette a tight hug and lets it linger before letting go. "This is perfect timing, now we're not just going out, we have something to celebrate. I'm going to call Mercedes to tell her, and get dressed so we can go."
Santana nods. "Do you mind if I borrow some of your makeup? I may not remember much, but that I can do."
"Of course. I have my makeup bag on the counter in the bathroom. It's right across from my room, incase you forgot."
Santana chuckles at her sudden shyness. "Thank you."
While Quinn goes to her room, Santana goes to the bathroom. Since they'll be going to a bar, she decides to go a shade or two darker than she normally wears, but still keeps it simple. She finishes before Quinn so she waits for her in the living room and uses the time to do a little more snooping. Out of curiosity of course.
There are pictures of who she assumes are her parents, Mercedes, Brittany and a few of her other friends from the hospital she hasn't met yet. She also notices Quinn's diploma's and degrees she earned from college, all very impressive.
While browsing through her movies, Santana is startled by Quinn clearing her throat from behind her. She jumps, and turning around her breath hitches in her throat, leaving her speechless much like Quinn earlier.
Quinn is just wearing a simple dress, and she notices her makeup is already done, which also simple but done so well. It makes her hazel eyes stand out, and her lips look more kissable than before. Quinn smirks, liking the fact that the tables have turned.
"Like what you see?" She teases back.
Santana blushes and nervously clears her throat. "S-Sorry, you just-you look beautiful. I mean, not that you're not always beautiful-I'm gonna stop talking."
Quinn chuckles, amused, and her stomach flutters, hearing the brunette compliment her. "Thank you. We should get going, I promised Mercedes I would pick her up."
Again, the drive is quiet, but this time added with a little tension between them. It's more apparent while they sit and wait for Mercedes in front of her apartment. Both woman can't help but sneak glances at each other. When Mercedes does come out, they both blush, afraid of getting caught staring.
"Alright, lets get our celebration on." Mercedes says getting into the back seat of the car. Not getting a response, she arches her brow. "Why are you two so quiet? We're about to have a good time, turn up the radio to get it started."
Quinn snorts, shaking her head then turns the radio up before driving off the the bar. Since picking Mercedes up, the rest of te drive is spent with the other brunette singing to the radio and trying to get Quinn and Santana to sing with her.
"You two are party poopers. You better be more fun when we get inside." She says as they all get out of the car. Quinn just rolls her eyes in response as they walk inside.
"Does this look familiar to you?" Quinn asks Santana remembering the last time the brunette stepped foot in the place was the night of her accident.
Santana shakes her head. "No, not even a little."
Quinn rubs her back sympathetically. "Me and Cedes know the owner, she always saves us a seat close to the stage."
She guides Santana through the crowd with Mercedes following behind them. As she said, there's a table in the corner by the stage waiting for them. Quinn pulls out a chair for Santana, earning a chuckle from Mercedes, before taking her own seat next to her.
"How does she know when you'll be here?"
Mercedes holds up her small clutch bag. "We call her, or I call her, anyway. Quinn doesn't do shit." She jokes. Again, Quinn just rolls her eyes. Santana looks over to the stage and notices it's set up for a band to play.
"Do you know who's playing tonight?" She asks no one in particular.
"One three hill." Mercedes answers for them. Santana looks at her as if she asking if she's serious or not, and she rolls her eyes. "Yes, I'm serious. It's a horrible name for an awesome band." Santana looks to Quinn to see of she's lying, and the blonde nods confirming she isn't.
"We've been trying to get them to change the name, but Elliot said that's what they're known for now, and he doesn't want to confuse their fans."
Santana tilts her head hearing the name. "Did you just say Elliot?"
She nods. "Why, do you know him?"
Santana shakes her head. "Well, kind of. He's Dani's friend, she told me I met him the night of the accident, but obviously I don't remember. I wonder if that means Dani will be here, too." She says looking around the bar for her. Quinn sighs, feeling a sting of jealousy in the pit of her stomach, and it doesn't go unnoticed by Mercedes.
"Hey, we came to have a good time, and we can't do that without some alcohol. The first round of shots are on me, and the rest are on Quinn."
Quinn once again rolls her eyes, while Santana laughs, no longer interested in finding Dani anymore. Mercedes gets up and pulls on Quinn's hand, getting her to also stand up.
"What are you doing? You can get the shots yourself, you know."
"If I were just getting three, yes, I could. But we need more than that, trust me, girl."
As Mercedes drags Quinn to the bar, Quinn takes Santana with them so she's not by herself and so she can help incase Mercedes is buying more than she thinks. Reaching the bar, Mercedes bangs on it to get the bar tenders attention, then gets out her money when that doesn't work.
"Can I get nine shots of chocolate cake over here?!" She yells over the music so he can hear.
Quinn's eyes widen. "Really, we really need nine of them?"
She just shrugs. "I plan on getting drunk and I'm not doing it alone."
Quinn sighs then turns to Santana. "If you don't want that much to drink, don't let her pressure you into having more."
Santana smiles at how considerate she is. "It's ok, Q. I'll have the shots but I think that's all I'll be drinking tonight."
Quinn nods. "Ok, I'm with you. She can drunk on her own. Plus, I'm driving."
Santana and Quinn help Mercedes take their drinks back to their table, and Quinn can't help but shake her head at how much her best friend bought for them.
"I can't believe you got so much. We really don't need all of this. Santana doesn't want to get drunk, and I'm driving, remember?"
Mercedes rolls her eyes, then grabs three glasses Quinn failed to notice. She pours the shot glasses into all three of them. "Relax, it just looks like a lot, but it's just three, here, drink up." She gives Quinn and Santana their glasses, and the three of them chug it down in a few gulps. "Oh my god, I needed that bad, and don't act like you didn't either." She says, pointing to Quinn.
"Ok, fine, I did. But that's all I'm drinking for the night. I'm gonna order us some pizza, so we can absorb all this alcohol." She says taking money out of her purse.
Mercedes huffs. "Fine, but I'm stealing your girl, she's dancing with me."
Before Quinn can correct her, Mercedes drags Santana out on the dance floor. She shakes her head and weaves through the crowd to the bar again to order their pizza. Since a lot of the crowd have gotten their drinks, Quinn doesn't need to bang on the bar to get the bartender's attention.
While waiting for the pizza, she turns around to look for Mercedes and Santana in the crowd. Because of the lights and all the people, it makes it a little harder, but she soon spots them in the middle, dancing away.
Quinn can't help but smile seeing Santana having such a good time. While Mercedes dances, and Santana tries to, the other brunette is making her laugh, and in return making Quinn laugh. Just when she thinks Santana has forgotten about Dani, she sees said girl walking toward her with Tina on her heels.
She watches as Dani taps Santana's shoulder. Santana smiles brightly seeing her, and gives the blonde a hug, again she feel a sting of jealousy in her stomach she just can't shake off, and she doesn't know why. Santana also hugs Tina, but it doesn't have the same effect on her.
And her jealousy only gets worse when Dani starts dancing with Santana, but she can't look away, either. She is so focused on their dancing and how it's making her feel, she doesn't even see Mercedes walk toward her with a scowl on her face.
"I'm not sure I like that girl. I mean, yea, I guess she's nice, but I was getting my groove on and she jumped in between us like a jealous boyfriend."
Quinn is paying no attention to Mercedes, she can't take her eyes away from Dani dancing very close to Santana. Mercedes follows her line of vision, then waves her hand in front of the blonde's face.
"Hey, earth to Quinn. I'm talking to you, girl, you know I don't like being ignored."
She sighs deeply and finally looks away from the pair on the dance floor. "Sorry, Cedes."
"It's cool, I understand. Did you get our pizza? I'm hungry."
Quinn doesn't answer, she just looks at her confused. "What do you understand?"
Mercedes narrows her eyes, also confused. "What?"
Quinn huffs. "You said it's cool, I understand. Understand what?"
Mercedes shakes her head. "Girl, I love you, but you're clueless."
Quinn crosses her arms, annoyed and a little offended. "Clueless about what?"
Mercedes chuckles. "You have a crush on Santana." She says like it's the most obvious thing in the world.
Quinn narrows her eyes. "No I don't."
Mercedes continues to laugh as she rolls her eyes. "Ok then, if you don't have a crush on her, then you wouldn't mind Dani grinding on her then."
Confused, Quinn looks out to the pair and sees the blonde doing just that, and Santana doesn't seem to mind. Quinn frowns, feeling that familiar sting in her stomach. Even though she doesn't want to prove Mercedes right, she doesn't want to be around to see if they start making out.
"I'm gonna go get some air." Quinn turns around to leave but Mercedes stops her. "What? Do you want me to say I have a crush on her?"
She shakes her head. "No, I'm going to tell you to dance with her. Just cut in and start dancing, you're decent enough for a white girl." She encourages.
Quinn sighs in defeat. "It looks like she's having a good time, and I don't want to be around if they start making out." She gives Mercedes her money. "Get the pizza, I'll be outside." She nods, not wanting to push her friend, then glares at Dani.
Santana was having fun dancing with Mercedes. The other brunette is loud, and she may roll her eyes a lot, but she's fun to be around. She wasn't expecting Dani to be there, despite looking for her earlier, she'd forgotten about the blonde after the shots and dancing with Mercedes. But she went to have a good time, so she agreed to dance with Dani.
"You look beautiful." Dani says in her ear so she can be heard over the music.
Santana smiles politely. "Thank you, it's actually Quinn's dress. I didn't have anything to wear, so she let me borrow it."
Dani finds Quinn at the bar and looks at her up and down, then does the same to Santana and winks. "I think it looks better on you." She continues to flirt.
Santana just smiles, then feels bad seeing Tina left out of their little circle she pulls her in to dance with them, and it's obvious Dani isn't happy about it.
"What made you decide to come here?" Tina asks. "I was going to tell you about it earlier, but I thought you wouldn't be up for it." She confesses.
Santana shrugs. "I felt like I needed to have a good time."
Tina nods in understanding. As they continue to dance, Dani gets closer and closer to Santana, and at one point, wraps her arm around her waist. Since Tina once again gets excluded out of their little dancing group, she dances with Mercedes instead. Santana looks to the bar to see Quinn still waiting for their pizza.
"Quinn looks alone over there waiting for our pizza, I'm gonna keep her company." She goes to pull away but Dani pulls her back.
"I thought you wanted to have some fun?"
She nods. "Y-Yea, I do but-" Dani cuts her off, chuckling.
"Relax, we're just dancing. I know you're not interested in me, and it's cool, but I wanna dance with you to a few more songs before we leave."
Santana sighs and Dani wiggles her chest making her laugh. "Ok, ok. I'll dance with you to a few more songs, but then I want to dance with Quinn."
Dani nods, and they continue to dance. When the next couple of songs are over, Dani and Santana split ways. Dani with Tina, and Santana goes over to the bar to look for Quinn, but is disappointed when she doesn't see her. She spots Mercedes though, eating a piece of their pizza already with another mixed drink she bought herself.
"Where's Quinn?"
Mercedes points to the door. "Outside, said she wanted to get some air."
Without a word Santana weaves through the crowd to get to the exit. However, when she gets outside she runs into two women smoking together, and Quinn isn't anywhere in sight.
"Who you looking for, gorgeous?" One of them ask.
"My friend. She has blonde hair, wearing a maroon dress."
She nods, and points behind her. "She went that way, said something about fresh air."
Looking down the street, Santana spots Quinn sitting on the curb. She rushes over to the blonde as fast as her heels will allow then sits next to her. Quinn either doesn't notice, or just doesn't want to talk.
"What are you doing out here?"
She shrugs. "I-It-uh- started to get a little crowded, so I came out here for some air." Santana nods, and there's a short silence between them. "I thought you were dancing with Dani?" She asks with a little bitterness.
"I was, but I wanna dance with you now."
Quinn turns her head, surprised with a hint of a smile. "You do?"
She nods, then holds out her hand. "I came with you, and I consider you as a friend. Of course I want to dance with you."
Quinn's heart sinks a little at the word friend, but quickly pushes the feeling aside. Being a friend is better than nothing. Santana pulls Quinn up with her, and they walk back to the bar, still holding hands, and continue to do so until they're on the dance floor. When they do, the previous song ends, and a slow one comes on.
"Alright, I'm gonna slow it down a bit for all the couples in the crowd."
Quinn bites her lip, her heart pounds against her chest as the couples get together to dance. "Do you still want to dance?" She asks uncertain.
Santana shrugs. "Yea, why not?"
She holds on to Quinn's waist pulling her closer. Quinn nervously puts her hands on Santana's shoulders as they start to dance. Dancing to a slow song meant for couples confuses Quinn, leaving her with a lot of questions.
Does it mean Santana really does have a crush on her, or is she just being nice? If she does have a crush on her, why was she dancing with Dani? If they both confess to having a crush on each other, could they have a proper relationship without Santana's memories? Can that affect their relationship? Should Quinn wait to tell her she has a crush on her, and wait for her memory to come back?
"It look like you're doing a lot of thinking." Santana notes, disrupting her thoughts.
"I'm sorry, I just have a lot on my mind, I guess."
"Are you not having fun, do you want to dance with someone else or something?" She asks, feeling a little insecure.
Quinn shakes her head. "No, sorry, I am having fun. I don't want to dance with anyone else."
Santana smiles in response, and they continue to dance. The DJ plays a couple more slow songs, but neither girl mind, secretly enjoying being so close together. They continue to dance for a few more faster songs, but dance nothing like Santana had with Dani. During one of the songs, Quinn leans closer to Santana so she can be heard over the louder music.
"Are you hungry? I think Mercedes left us some pizza." She says pointing over to said girl now sitting at their table, drinking yet another mixed drink. Santana nods and follows Quinn to their table.
Meanwhile in Lima...
Nicholas is wandering around town in the middle of the night. He had just finished looking everywhere in his daughter's room for something to tell him where she ran off to, destroying it in the process of his anger when he didn't find anything.
Now he's sulking and hoping to run into someone who knows his daughter better than he does, to tell him where they think she could be. Being a small town, it's unlikely a lot of people to be out in the middle of the night unless they have to run out for an errand. Of course they have bars, but they're on the other side of town.
As Nicholas aimlessly wanders down the street, a woman across the road just returning from work spots the man and shakes her head with a sigh. Her daughter asked she look out for the man, and right now she can't help but feel bad for him.
There are many rumors going around about his bad decisions, but she can't bring herself to believe it also makes him a bad parent, too. Even though Tina has told her and her husband of the bruises she saw, and odd behavior between the both of them, she still needs to see it for herself. So, while being cautious, she'll help the man. Before crossing the road, she looks both ways and rushes towards him.
"Nicholas, how are you?" He narrows his eyes as if he doesn't remember ever meeting her. "I'm Tina's mother, Linda."
"Oh, right. I've done better. I miss my Maribel, though, do you know where she ran off to? She ran away about a week ago."
Linda frowns, confused. Everyone knows Maribel left them a lot longer than a week ago. She wonders if he's drunk, but he seems to have no problems walking, and his eyes aren't glazed over. "No, I don't know where she is, I'm sorry. Why don't you come inside, and have some coffee?" She suggests.
He sighs deeply. "It's better than being in a quiet house." He agrees.
Linda guides him across the street, and inside her home. Her husband is still at work, but notes to herself to tell him the next morning. She takes him into the kitchen and has him sit at the table while she makes their coffee.
"So, what made you decide to walk around this late at night?" It's only ten thirty, but in a small town it's late for someone to walk the streets alone.
"I'm looking for my Maribel. I think people in this town knows where she is, and they're keeping me from finding her."
While the coffee brews, Linda sits across from Nicholas and puts her hand over his. "I bet it's lonely with just you in that big house."
He frowns, and looks at her confused. "I'm not alone, Santana is sleeping in her room. She would be so happy if I found her mother."
Now Linda is confused. "I thought Santana ran away, too? My daughter Tina found her in New York."
Nicholas shakes his head. "Santana is too young to go to New York by herself. But do you think Maribel could have gone?"
Linda leans back in her seat, speechless. Nicholas seriously needs to see a psychologist. How has anyone not noticed? How could she of not noticed herself? Yea, she's been busy, but a man walking around still believing the daughter that ran away is still home had to of brought some attention to himself. But then it hits her, he's the town drunk, if he had, people would blame the alcohol.
"You miss her, don't you? Maribel, I mean."
He nods. "Santana misses her, too. I'm not always around, because I couldn't stand to be around her. I felt too guilty. But when I am home, I can see how much she misses her."
Linda notes he's talking as if Santana is still home, and Maribel just left them. "I don't think she blames you, though."
Nicholas scoffs. "Of course she does, and she should. It is my fault. Maribel had enough of my drinking, but what do I keep doing anyway?" He asks bitterly. "But I miss her so much, and I want things to go back to how they used to be."
Linda defiantly feels bad for the man. Obviously he was affected more by his wife leaving more than anyone thought. They all just see a town drunk, but right now she's sees a hurt and lonely man.
After their pizza, the girls continued to dance the night away, with each other and Mercedes. They don't leave until the bar closes. Quinn drops off Mercedes first before driving to the hotel Santana has been staying at with Tina. None of them bumped into Dani and Tina again and Quinn is thankful.
Santana is happy she agreed to go. She had a lot of fun with Mercedes and especially Quinn. They danced a lot together, and just thinking about it makes her smile. Since they meet Quinn has been so sweet to her, and tonight wasn't any different.
She made sure she ate, had enough to drink, and even yelled at a drunk woman who bumped into her while they were dancing. As Quinn parks in front of the hotel, Santana can't help but feel like they're coming back from a date, and the thought of it excites her.
She definitely wouldn't mind going on a date with the blonde, and she guesses Quinn wouldn't either by the by the looks she's been giving her all night. She looks over to said girl and notes how flustered she is, and that confirms she is thinking the same.
"I had fun, thanks for taking me."
Quinn turns her head, smiling with a blush. "Me too. Call me after the interview, so we can celebrate again."
Santana snorts. "I might not even get the job."
Quinn shrugs. "You never know, but it's better to think positive, and I think you'll get it."
Santana smiles. "Thanks, I'll see you later. But next time, I decide where we go to celebrate."
Quinn chuckles, and feels her heart flutter of the idea of going out with the brunette again. "Deal. Have a good night."
Santana leans over to give the blonde a tight hug. "You too, and I promise I'll give your dress back."
Quinn chuckles. "You can have it, it looks better on you, anyway."
Santana tries to hide her blush as she pulls away from the embrace and gets out of the car. "Thank you. See you soon."
She stays on the sidewalk as she watches Quinn drive away before going inside. Walking into the room, Santana is surprised to see Tina still isn't back yet. Then she looks at the time and groans at the numbers starring back at her. It's two in the morning, and she's starting to feel it. Santana closes the door behind her then drags her feet to her room. She puts on her pj's, then goes into the bathroom to wash her face, and brush her teeth.
Back in her room she looks at the time again, ten minutes after two. For some reason she feels a sense of deja vu looking at the neon numbers.
It's late, and Santana has fallen asleep on the couch downstairs wit the TV still on. Nicholas is passed out drunk up stairs in the master bedroom. But hearing someone come into the house, and failing to be quiet, it wakes Santana up. She looks at the time to see it's ten minutes after two in the morning, then gets up to go in the foyer where she sees Maribel has knocked over a plant.
"Mom?"
Maribel stands up and sighs seeing the teen. "Why are you still up? You have school tomorrow." She scolds.
"You've been coming home late for days, and I wanna know why."
Maribel sighs deeply. "It's too late for this, and even if it weren't I don't have to explain myself to you. Now, go to bed."
Santana follows Maribel into the kitchen. Her mother opens the refrigerator for a bottle of soda, then goes into the cabinet for a glass.
"Is it because you don't want to come home?" Maribel pauses for just a second as she pours her drink. "It is, isn't it? Why don't you want to be here? Is it because of me, or Papi?"
Maribel slams her hands on the counter with a groan. "I told you, it's too late for all these questions. You don't need to know why I'm out late, just go upstairs to bed." She orders.
Santana frowns. She knows it's because of her alcoholic father, but sometimes she feels like her mother doesn't want to be around her either.
"I don't want to be here either." She confesses. "Not with Papi, he's always drunk. It would be better to deal with if you were here with me."
Maribel looks at the counter guilty. "Go to bed, Santana." She tiredly demands again, changing the subject.
Santana scoffs then goes to her room and cries herself to sleep. Taken back by the new memory, Santana sits down on her bed, feeling like she wants to cry.
Now she remembers that night very clearly, but she didn't expect for the feelings to come with remembers feeling like her mother didn't want to be around her anymore. Even if she didn't deny it, to her it felt that way. Feeling overwhelmed, Santana lays down and cries herself to sleep.
Authors Note
Kind of a sad ending, sorry about that. I tried to make it more fun with their night out, but the end kind of ruins it. How cute are Quinn and Santana in this chapter? Lol, I love it. Is anyone kind of understanding why Nicholas is the way he is yet? If not, hopefully as time goes on, it'll become more clear. But even then, he's not meant to be a character you'll want to root for, obviously, maybe you'll be more sympathetic though...? We'll see, anyway, I hope you liked the update, and despite my OCD this might be longer than the last chapter to make up for how long it's been since I updated this story, and I was on a roll, lol.
