Saryn was slowly losing it. The immense pain was corrupting her mind, she couldn't think, couldn't move, nothing. The only thought she could concentrate on was her team and Excalibur. Her vision was too blurred, the only object she could make out was the Ancient that constantly slammed her into the floor. She knew this was stage two, it was like her poison, except hers didn't have a stage three. She knew what was coming, and this made her sad, she never thought she would be turned, but she would be the first ever infested Tenno. I wonder what I would be like, she thought. She didn't care if she was left alive when stage three came, pain didn't scare her, what did, was wondering what would happen to her friends and to Excalibur. She could still faintly hear her warframe blaring out warnings to her to move, to run, but there's no running, Tenno don't run, they fight or die. She coughed up blood and some other green liquid and her body spasmed violently, even more pain. She didn't even yell, stage three. She was surprised, stage two usually lasts much longer, much much longer. The victims are usually decomposed, at least even a little, Saryn didn't feel decomposed at all. Oh well, she couldn't care less. She tried to relax as much as she could and wait for it to come. But it never did.

The ancient jerked as two arrows pierced its shoulders, it paused confused, then found its source. Banshee was standing in front of it, tall and confident, another arrow notched and drawn back. This one had an explosive tip on it, the Ancient roared a challenge and Banshee released. Upon impact the arrow exploded, killing the Toxic instantly, blood and guts painted the surrounding walls. The arm attached to Saryn disintegrated and drifted away. She fell to the floor limp, her mind and body exhausted. Gunfire had ceased, as they were all dead and Excalibur just stood there in shock the whole situation was too much to bare. He dropped his blade and his pistol, and fell to his knees. It was all too much.

Rhino ran to his side, and then it hit her. Saryns peaceful body erupted, she yelled and screamed and her body convulsed and shuddered. Her team looked up suddenly, and ran to her. Excalibur getting past his breakdown was first to her. No one was sure what was happening, the infested was dead, there's no more poison, right? In fact there was, the Ancient succeeded in injected some stage three serum into her body. It can still grow and duplicate inside her body if something isn't done quickly. "What do we do!?" asked Rhino confused and worried. "I… I don't know!" yelled Excalibur angry at himself for not being there and for getting knocked by a Disruptor.

Saryn, aware of the presence of her team, was desperately trying to speak, but she couldn't so she focused on trying to save herself, in that brief respite she had regained some control of her spores, and was now trying to utilise them. She had a special type stored in her for occasions like this, an anti-serum. Specifically for cases where someone is infected, at stage three only can this be used, it basically destroys the virus. The bad thing is that it's in her spores, not in a syringe and right now she was having bad time controlling them. Her body continued to spasm, and Excalibur grabbed her hand and squeezed it, "C'mon S, pull through please!" he begged. Saryn responded by grabbing his hand as well, feeling the pressure Excalibur's hopes were restored. Saryn concentrated the most she has ever done in her life, mustered all her remaining strength and poured all of her serum spores into herself.

They left from her palm into the air and circled back around and entered the wound in her chest. The spores were a beautiful yellow colour and seemed to make everyone happier. Saryns hold on Excalibur's hand tightened to the point where she would have crushed a human's hand, but he held on. After an agonising 20 seconds of waiting, Saryn took a deep controlled breath, the air tasted so much sweeter than before and she smiled. The squad relaxed and a weight was lifted off their shoulders. Saryn loosened her grip on Excalibur but didn't let go. "Saryn are you ok?" Rhino asked quite stupidly. She punched him in the chest without much force, "what was that, girl punch?" Rhino remarked playfully, and was rewarded with a much harder punch that winded him slightly. They all laughed and helped her to her feet. When she was balanced Excalibur grabbed both her hands, looked at her then hugged her. "Oh! Ok." She said and hugged him back. "Group hug!" Rhino roared and brought Banshee and the pair into a really tight embrace. He picked them all up, turned from side to side then dropped them back down. "Uh Rhino, can't breathe" Banshee said. He quickly let them go, and made sure Saryn didn't fall over. Saryn turned to Excalibur who was looking at her, and he embraced her once more, this time she knew what he felt and hugged him back the same way. After their moment they let each other go, although they both knew they didn't want to, and Excalibur said "Ok, we're leaving".
"No we're not" Saryn protested sternly
"Yes we are, I'm not risking it any further"
"This could have happened anywhere else on another infested ship, and we would have continued on" Saryn argued
"That's not true!" Excalibur countered
"I don't know what your issue is with this place, but you didn't want to tell us, so I'm not leaving because Tenno don't run, we fight or die!"
"I won't let you!" Excalibur blurted out in anger.

Saryn was taken aback at what she heard. Banshees' eyebrows rose and Rhino became much more interested. Saryn took a moment to recover and Excalibur seized the opportunity.
"I won't let you die. Any of you, not on my watch"
"Neither will I, but we have a mission and I don't think it's fulfilled yet, so I'm staying" Saryn said sternly. Excalibur stared at her and although he couldn't see her face, he knew there was no way her mind would change. "Fine, but one more incident and we leave. Understood?"
"Fine" She agreed.
"You're staying next to me" Excalibur said, softly grabbing Saryns arm, "Rhino, Banshee take the lead".
