Harry woke up feeling well rested and quite content, that is until he remembered where he was. Groaning in self-pity he eased himself up off his current bed and made his way down the stairs, he got lost twice on the way to the sitting room but finally arrived feeling more disgruntled than ever.
"Afternoon Sir." He ground out quickly, the man never seemed to change out of his usual attire,Harry thought to himself. I wonder what he's going to feed me, probably some form of poison if he could get away with it.
Snape watched Harry while he waited further instruction and was trying to decide how to best bring about the new level of conversation. "Sit down, Potter, I doubt it will be too hard for even you to find your seat." Nodding toward the only vacant seat available, he watched Harry take his seat before ploughing on. "Now Potter, it seems we have a... a hiccup in the road," Snape paused as he pointed at the steaming plate of food in front of Harry as if to give the boy permission to eat as he continued talking. "As it is I cannot just pack you off along your way as planned, the headmaster has deemed it best that you stay here for the rest of your summer." He paused with a grimace as though he had a foul taste in his mouth. "I suggest we try to make the best of it we can if we are to survive through this unpleasant and unwelcome intrusion on both of our lives. Also I would imagine that you will be pleased to know that Professor Dumbledore has prevented any action being taken against you by the Ministry of Magic."
Harry was up and out of his seat in an instant; his face held a look of absolute horror mingled with confusion. "You cannot be serious!" He almost yelled at the potions master. "He was here?! When did you speak with Dumbledore? I want to talk to him!" he demanded furiously. He was getting sick of everyone deciding his fate without his own in-put.
"Potter sit back down, there is nothing you can do trust me I have tried my best to try and prevent this happening however it is not to be. The headmaster refuses to let up therefore we have a few more rules to establish it would seem..." Snape finished off smoothly, eyeing the upturned chair on the floor in which Harry had just nearly flung in his desperation to make himself heard.
Taking the hint, Harry picked up the chair swiftly and took his seat once more, feeling extremely embarrassed at his actions, and yet he couldn't help but feel outdone by. Stupid Dumbledore always giving me the raw end of the deal,he thought savagely. And damn Snape for always appearing so perfectly calm and collected!
"That's better Potter, only five year olds have tantrums and as such, your own childish outburst shall land you a punishment which we shall decide later. However, it seems Professor Dumbledore would like you to learn some things while you are here. Occlumency for one, your potions could use a scratch-up as well, and we shall be looking at both defence and offence spells among other things. Also any rule breaking will earn you punishment whilst any good behaviour if you happen to be capable of any of course, shall earn you rewards." Snape finished quickly; I doubt the idiot even knows what "good behaviour" is!He thought whilst flashing a very unkind smile in Harry's direction. "Furthermore Potter you shall not treat my property as your own, I will only ask you once to Never throw my stuff around again, it's very valuable you see... maybe a lot more valuable than you are to anyone," he finished smoothly.
Damn Snape and his stupid house!Harry thought angrily, I bet he wouldn't have anything to say if I ever saved his life like he supposedly always saves mine! Like that would ever happen, Harry thought grimly to himself. He was not sure if he'd ever try to save his potions master's life if it came to it anyway. "Yes Sir, it won't happen again." Harry replied after he saw Snape's increasing frown who was obviously awaiting an answer.
"Good Potter, see that it doesn't! Now as for your inappropriate and yes, very childish outburst earlier, you shall not receive your wand back until this coming Saturday, I'm sure that you can go until then without it as you so keenly walked away from the blasted house you called a "home" without a backwards glance for it" Snape stated nastily. "Lucky for you, I grabbed it from your Aunt while you were still upstairs."
Harry just gaped at his professor, how could he have forgotten about his wand? It was all that stood between himself and Voldemort killing him instantly. Stupid boy, Stupid, stupid, stupid!Harry felt angry with himself. Surely he should have noticed he didn't have his wand before now? But at the same time he knew he hadn't even given two thoughts about it since leaving Privet Drive. He sure wouldn't make that mistake again! Glancing up at Snape, he muttered a quick "Thank you Sir" before staring at the ground again; this was going to be one hell of a summer!Harry thought bitterly.
Quietly both wizards sat in silence eating, finally finished although neither ate very much anyway, they both retired to their own quarters, each dreading the following day. Harry did feel slightly better however due to Dumbledore preventing any punishment from the Ministry; at least he wouldn't be expelled!
