7. First Mission

CHAPTER 7: First Mission

The next morning after Noelle's accident, both Asta and Akira started doing the chores of the morning. Cleaning the halls, dusting the library, laundry. Asta found an undergarments of Vanessa and got a nosebleed, twice. Feeding the beast which Asta almost got eaten by one of the monsters and Akira had to help him. And lastly but important, by Magma, waking Captain Yami which was the most difficult among the chores. Once they finished, they went to the cafeteria for breakfast.

Their morning started having breakfast with dishes that weren't normal dishes for the mornings. They were more like meat, chicken and other food with a lot of calories for such morning. Even Akira, knowing before, was surprised at the amount of meat in front of him.

NOELLE: "Nothing but meat in the morning..."

ASTA: "Noelle, why don't you help us with the cleaning and stuff?"

AKIRA: "Hey, it is not wrong asking but she is from the royalty which means their manors get cleaned by workers." He explained.

NOELLE: "You know well. Yes, as a royalty I don't have to clean." She stated cockily.

ASTA: "But you're a newbie just like me and him!"

NOELLE: "I've never cleaned or done laundry in my life."

ASTA & AKIRA: "That's not something to brag about, is it?"

ASTA: "We're in the same squad, aren't we? I'm pretty sure you should be helping with that stuff."

NOELLE: "But I'm royalty."

ASTA: "Why are you talking to me like that?"

NOELLE: "Shut up, you insect."

ASTA: "Damn it!" He then got something on his mind and asked to Magna. "So, uh... What do Magic Knights do anyway?"

MAGNA: "What? Are you seriously asking that? We protect the kingdom and handle security! It's the most manly job in the world, you dumbass!" He grabbed Asta by the collar, explaining all the fundamentals.

AKIRA: "That's about right." He nodded, still eating his food.

MAGNA: "Why'd you decide to join when you knew nothing about it?"

ASTA: "I'm sorry!"

FINRAL: "They sure are lively first thing in the morning." He commented, looking at them.

GORDON: *mumble* "Being energetic is the best. Can I have some of that energy?"

MAGNA: "Damn it. Show 'em what Magic Knights do, you drunk witch." He released Asta's collar and spoke to Vanessa.

VANESSA: "Well... We keep the citizens safe? Something like that." She started filling her cup with wine. "You might even be able to get closer to some noble when you're assigned to protect them."

ASTA: "I see."

LUCK: "It's a super-fun job where you get to fight with enemies all you want. If they're criminals, you can beat them up all you want and not get in trouble!" He started to do a one-two punching.

AKIRA: "Scary."

GAUCHE: "Most importantly, it's a wonderful job that my sister respects me for having. Isn't she an angel? I can buy her whatever she wants with my pay." He was showing a picture of her sister and nose bleeding. "But if you lay a finger on Marie, I'll kill you."

AKIRA: "W-We understand." He spoke for Asta and Noelle.

ASTA: "Wh-What about you, Finral-san?"

FINRAL: "It's the best job in the world, since I get to save girls and be popular."

AKIRA: "You sure get a chance with the ladies." Both Asta and Noelle looked at Gordon and mumbled.

GORDON: *mumble* "Of course I'll tell you. We're friends, after all."

What left the three newbies uncomfortable, then heard a shriek of Charmy and looked at her.

ASTA: "Charmy-san?"

CHARMY: "I-I'm... out of food!" She cried, looking at her empty plates.

AKIRA: "THAT'S WHAT YOU ARE WORRIED?!" He smacked the air.

CHARMY: "I'm nowhere near full." She then opened her grimoire and casted. "[Cotton Creation Magic: Sheep Cooks]!" From her grimoire summoned three sheeps that started cooking at her command. "Thank for the food. As long as you're a Magic Knight, you can eat plenty of food!"

The three of them were surprised and shocked how she was eating more food than it was before. Then from behind, appeared Grey.

ASTA: "Uh, Grey-san?"

He opened his grimoire and suddenly smoke appeared coating on himself and appeared another Asta.

ASTA: "HUH~?!"

ASTA (Grey): "Well, basically, it's a good job." He said, patting the real Asta's shoulder with his thumb up.

NOELLE: "He looks just like you." She was surprised at the other Asta in front of the original.

AKIRA: "That's so cool. There is nothing different from the original." He took his chance to copy its attribute. [Transformation Magic] attribute added. It'll be useful in the future.

ASTA (Grey): "I'm looking forward to working with you on a mission."

ASTA: "R-Right..." Then Grey returned to his original form and returned to his seat. "Th-They're all weirdos."

AKIRA: "You said it."

NOELLE: "Should I really be in this squad?"

Then Captain Yami kicked the door which gained the attention of all members in the cafeteria and looking all serious he said.

YAMI: "Let's go, Magna."

MAGNA: "Yes, sir, Mister Yami!"

ASTA: "What's going on? What's going on?" His mouth was full since Charmy gave him meat bone before.

MAGNA: "There's a mission." He stood up and walked to Captain Yami's side.

ASTA: "A Magic Knights' mission?" He gulped the food and stood up to follow them. "C-Can I come with-"

MAGNA: "No! We can't bring any kids along. This is a very important mission for adults."

AKIRA: "But you're only 18 years old? You're much younger than Gauche, Charmy and Vanessa!"

YAMI: "Hey! Don't break everything while we're gone."

VANESSA: "Okay~! Have fun!" She waved at them still drunk on wine.

LUCK: "Captain! Will you fight me when you come back?"

GORDON: *mumble* "Come back soon. I'll be waiting."

CHARMY: "Come back by dinner!" She continued, munching the food.

GAUCHE: "Can I go see Marie soon? I'm having withdrawal symptoms." He asked, nose bleeding.

AKIRA: *sigh* "Noelle. I'll just say to cover your eyes once they return."

NOELLE: "What do you mean?" She was confused at his warning.

ASTA: "Captain Yami and Magna-senpai both looked so serious. What kind of mission could it be?"

It passed all afternoon since they went to their 'mission'. The three recruits were in the beasts' room feeding them.

ASTA: "There, there. Good boy. Here." He was approaching them slowly with their food. Once again, to be almost eaten by those beasts.

AKIRA: "GAH! I TOLD YOU TO BE CAREFUL, YOU IDIOT!" He shouted as he was helping Asta out of the beast's mouth. "NOELLE! DON'T JUST STAND THERE! HELP US!"

NOELLE: "I'm royalty. You should be thankful that I even got out of bed."

AKIRA: "THAT'S NOT AN EXCUSE TO NOT HELP!"

Then ended up getting out of the dangerous situation with Asta almost being devoured by the beasts, again.

ASTA: "I thought I was going to die."

NOELLE: "You two really are freakishly strong."

ASTA: "Well, I train!"

AKIRA: "I did my part before." Then they noticed both Captain Yami and Magna coming to them while laughing.

ASTA: "Captain Yami and Magna..."

AKIRA: "Noelle. Remember what I told you this morning. Do it."

NOELLE: "But why?" Still confused for what he said. But when she saw them coming, she blushed and avoided looking at them as they were bare naked except for their squad robes.

AKIRA: "I did say to avoid looking." He deadpanned, glancing at her all flustered.

YAMI: "That old man actually had a royal straight flush! Who would've thought? He's amazing!"

MAGNA: "We're no match for Old Man Seyhe!"

YAMI: "People sure are strong when they have something on the line." He then started laughing.

MAGNA: "Hey, Stupidsta, Lady Noe, Duora, we're back! Be happy! You three are going on your first mission as Magic Knights." What shocked Asta and Noelle but then she turned again as she saw them and turned back.

After both Captain Yami and Magna changed their clothes, they were in the common room with the recruits.

MAGNA: "And so, we're giving you your first mission."

ASTA: "Our first mission..."

NOELLE: "...as Magic Knights."

AKIRA: "So what is it?" Still pretending not to know what they would say.

NOELLE: "It had better be something worthy of me as a royal."

MAGNA: "Yeah, you should be honored. You'll be hunting wild boars in Saussy Village!"

ASTA: "Wild..."

NOELLE: "...boars? Wh-What in the world is this lame mission?"

MAGNA: "WHAT ARE YOU CALLING LAME?!"

ASTA: "I can beat a wild boar with my bare hands!"

AKIRA: "Me too."

MAGNA: "DON'T YOU DARE UNDERSTIMATE WILD BOARS! They come charging outta nowhere. Haven't you ever heard the phrase "rushing into things"?!"

YAMI: "We both ended up losing to the mayor of Saussy Village."

ASTA & NOELLE: "Huh?"

ASTA: "C-Captain Yami and Magna lost?"

NOELLE: "Just how strong is he?"

AKIRA: "He means on cards."

ASTA & NOELLE: "Cards?!" While looking at me.

YAMI: "Yeah. He basically stripped us of all we had."

MAGNA: "And six months' worth of pay, too!"

The three of them were dumbfounded for them losing on cards and betting on it. And they still were talking proudly and confidently.

YAMI: "And we ended up promising him we'd do anything if we lost, so he asked us to take care of some wild boars for him."

MAGNA: "Apparently, a herd showed up near the village, and they're ruining the fields."

ASTA: "Hey, question! That has nothing to do with us, right?" He raised his hand and questioned their so called 'mission'.

NOELLE: "Yeah! You two are the ones who lost! Then..."

AKIRA: "Hey, you two..." He tried to calm them down but was futile.

MAGNA: "YOU IDIOTS! YOU'RE ASKING MISTER YAMI TO CLEAN UP HIS OWN MISTAKES?!"

ASTA: "Normally..."

NOELLE: "...you would."

AKIRA: "This is how they clean up their messes?"

The three recruits could only sweatdrop at their Captain's and Senior's mistake.

MAGNA: "We're the ones who clean up Mister Yami's mistakes!" The three of them still dumbfounded, regained their composures as Captain Yami was getting from his seat.

YAMI: "Are you going to go, or are you going to die? Which it'll be?" He threatened with a murderous expression.

ASTA/NOELLE/AKIRA: "We'll go!" They accepted quickly, terrorized.

Then Captain Yami left the base, leaving the three recruits with Magna.

ASTA: "Even though we're hunting wild boars, this is our first mission as Magic Knights. I'm so excited!" He roared.

NOELLE: "I'm supposed to get rid of wild boars?"

MAGNA: "What? You're still complaining?"

NOELLE: "I'm not complaining, but..." She looked down. "I was just wondering if I should go, since I can't control my magical powers."

MAGNA: "You idiot! You'll be able to fix that in no time with some missions under your belt!"

AKIRA: "You'll get experience out of it."

MAGNA: "That's right! I'll be sure to clean up any of you newbies' mistakes, since I'm your senior."

ASTA: "Wow! Magna-senpai, you're such a manly man!"

MAGNA: "Stop it, Stupidsta. You're making me blush."

NOELLE: "I-If you insist, I guess I could accompany you."

MAGNA: "Thank you very much!" He bowed to her then he realized on something. "Wait. Why are you always looking down on us?!"

NOELLE: "I'm not. It's just that you're always below me." She stated and for what make Akira laugh.

MAGNA: "What kind of reasoning is that?! And you stop laughing!"

He then called Finral because of his spatial magic but.

MAGNA: "So... Use your [Spatial Magic] to get us to Saussy Village."

FINRAL: "Saussy Village?" He took a moment to think of the place and replied. "Not happening."

MAGNA: "What do you mean, you jerk?!"

FINRAL: "Well, I can only go to faraway places I can't see if I've marked them with my magical powers."

MAGNA: "Huh?"

AKIRA: "You're saying that you can't go to places that you weren't before, right?"

FINRAL: "Ding, ding, ding. That's exactly why I can't teleport you there." Then he left.

MAGNA: "You're so useless!" He grumbled, putting his hand on his back of the head. "Guess we don't have a choice. We'll go by broomstick."

ASTA: "Magna-senpai, sir!" He raised his hand.

MAGNA: "Yeah, Asta?"

ASTA: "I can't fly on a broomstick!" He replied in monotone.

NOELLE: "Sir."

MAGNA: "Yes, Noelle?"

NOELLE: "I can't, either." She also replied in monotone.

And Akira wanted to participate on this.

AKIRA: "Sir!"

MAGNA: "Yes, Akira?"

AKIRA: "Among of us three, I'm the only one that can fly." He answered also in monotone. Since it was funny, he kind of chuckled.

Magna took a moment then grabbed Asta's collar and shouted.

MAGNA: "What?! Are you two serious?! Why can't you do something so easy, you morons?! Damn it! That's as basic as it gets!" He started shaking him.

ASTA: "Well, I don't have any magical powers!" He laughed while being shaked.

MAGNA: Why are you bragging about that?!"

NOELLE: "Well, I can't control my magical powers, so of course I can't. You fool."

MAGNA: "And why do you sound so high and mighty?!" He releasesAsta and walked somewhere. "Guess I don't have a choice. I'll give one of you two a ride on my baby."

ASTA/NOELLE/AKIRA: "Baby?"

-Outside the Base-

MAGNA: "Its name Crazy Cyclone!" He presented his broomstick that had a bull skull with sunglasses on the front and a special made seat on it.

ASTA: "S-So cool!" His eyes were sparking at it. Noelle just looked nothing serious about it. And Akira just took a selfie photo of it with a poker face.

MAGNA: "I know, right?! Isn't she a beauty?"

ASTA: "Yeah, she is!"

AKIRA: "Yeah, it's cool." He was holding his broomstick while they were at it.

NOELLE: "Lame."

MAGNA: "What?! Are you not able to comprehend her majestic form? Guess a woman just doesn't get it."

Noelle took a second while closing her eyes and stated.

NOELLE: "So lame! L-A-M-E!"

Asta sat on Magna's broomstick while Noelle sat on Akira's broomstick since she thinks that his broomstick is much normal than the senior's lame broomstick.

AKIRA: "At least he won't deplete every mana to carry two people since I'm here."

MAGNA: "Let go to Saussy Village, Akira!"

AKIRA: "Yes sir! Magna-senpai!"

And with that the two of them flew off with their passengers to their first mission.

After hours of hunting wild boars, which their characteristics were much different from the real back then they had fire emitting from their foreheads and charged at full speed. Since Magna could use less mana to transport them, he barely helped the recruits as they had problems at first with those wild boars.

But Akira was uneasy since they had to keep up in a hurry since he knew what was going to happen in that village. Magna and Akira were carrying one wild boar meanwhile Asta was carrying four.

MAGNA: *laugh* "What a haul!"

NOELLE: "You're pretty amazing."

ASTA: "Three or four wild boars ain't nothing."

AKIRA: "You really are something, Asta." He said but still was uneasy.

NOELLE: "What's wrong?" Noticing his expression, she asked.

AKIRA: "Magna-senpai." He called to his senior.

MAGNA: "What is it?" He turned to look at him.

AKIRA: "I feel that something is going to happen in that village, sir."

NOELLE: "What do you mean?"

MAGNA: "Don't fret! That old man Seyhe is powerful to be able to defend by himself. He used to whoop my ass back when I decided to take over the village." He chuckled.

AKIRA: "Even so..."

MAGNA: "Don't worry! He even trained me and recommended to take the Magic Knight Entrance Exam. It's all because of him that I'm here. When I passed the Magic Knight Entrance Exam, he was happier for me than anyone."

NOELLE: "He must be a nice person." She commented, with a smile.

MAGNA: "Yeah. And he went to the royal capital... well, to get rich quick so he could make some money for his village, but I think he also came to see me. He did take me for every bit of change I had, though! But he's the one who showed me what a real man should be. I wanted to be like him, the person I respect most after Mister Yami." He smiled but when he noticed something abnormal, he dropped the wild boar.

ASTA: "Magna-senpai?"

MAGNA: "What the hell is that?!" He ran off to see the village that was covered in a mist dome.

ASTA: "The village..."

NOELLE: "It's covered in mist."

ASTA: "Wow, the weather sucks in that town."

AKIRA: "You dimwit! That's magic alright!" He said, smacking his chest.

ASTA: "WHAT?!"

AKIRA: "This mist..."

NOELLE: "Once we enter it, we probably won't be able to get anywhere. We'll lost our sense of direction and end up wandering around in the mist."

MAGNA: "Magic that can cover a whole village... None of the villagers have magic this strong. Of course, this isn't old man Seyhe's magic, either. What's going on?"

AKIRA: "There is a possibility." He said, looking at the others. "Asta, use your sword to cut through the mist. Hurry!"

ASTA: "I get it." He walked to it but then. "That's a dumb thing to say. You can't cut through mist with a sword." He put a dumb face and put a hand back to his head.

AKIRA: "You idiot! This mist is magic so you can cut it through."

ASTA: "Oh, yeah!" He summoned his sword and started cutting it.

AKIRA: "I just hope we are not late." He muttered, worried.

With Magna's memory and Asta's sword, they reached the central of the village. Once there they saw the villagers cornered in a place and ice spikes over them.

MALE VOICE: "This is your execution."

AKIRA: "Shit! Magna-senpai!"

MAGNA: "I got this. [Fire Magic: Exploding Fire Balls]" He ran to the spikes and threw the fireballs, destroying it completely.

The villagers saw them and started crying of hope.

MALE CHILD: "The Magic Knights..."

FEMALE CHILD: "They've come to save us!"

They walked to the villagers and one of the villagers noticed Magna.

MALE ADULT VILLAGER A: "Magna, it's you!"

MAGNA: "Nick! What the heck's going on?"

The boy started crying as Magna noticed someone laying down. The man was Seyha and he was dead.

AKIRA: "Damn it. We came too late." He cursed on the inside.

MAGNA: "Old man! Hey! Wake up!" He shook the lifeless body of the man who trained him and encouraged to take the entrance exam.

MALE ADULT VILLAGER B: "The mayor..."

MALE ADULT VILLAGER C: "He tried to protect us."

NICK: "Grandpa, they came. The Magic Knights... Your prayers were answered." He cried while looking at the body.

ASTA & NOELLE: "A person's life was taken... so easily."

Then Magna noticed the responsible of Seyha's death.

MAGNA: "Are you the bastard who did this?!"

There were four people in front of the church. Three were standing with their faces hiding with their hoods and a man sitting who was watching his pocket watch.

HEATH: "How dare you put me behind schedule? You'll all be executed in ten seconds." He said in a low tone. He opened his grimoire and casted a large icicle to throw it at us.

AKIRA: "Asta!"

ASTA: "Understood!" He jumped out to cut the ice in half. "I won't forgive this! How could you do something so cruel? Who the heck are you guys?!"

Those mysterious people were silent at Asta's taunt.

MAGNA: "They don't seem like spies from the Diamond Kingdom or barbarians here to trash the village. Who are these guys?"

HOODED MAGE A: "I don't recall hearing anything about Magic Knights showing up."

HOODED MAGE B: "Could they be out on some unofficial mission? And how did they get into the village through our mist barrier?"

HEATH: "The Black Bulls... Crude heretics that don't fit in with the rest of the Magic Knights. Five minutes... We'll get rid of the useless villagers that didn't know anything and seek what we came here for."

ASTA: "Don't ignore me!" He charged at them.

HOODED MAGE C: "[Mist Magic: Whirlpool of Illusory Mist]" The mist started dispersing around Asta. "You're a fool to think you could get near Lord Heath so easily. Be lost in the mist."

ASTA: "No, I won't!" He cut vertically through the mist.

HEATH: "He cut through my ice magic earlier. I don't know what kind of magic he uses... But his sword negates magic. We shouldn't let him get too close."

AKIRA: "Too bad to you guys. We, the Black Bulls, will kick your asses."

ASTA: "That's right! I'm asking you why you would kill these villagers."

HEATH: "This world is split into several regions. The Noble Realm where royalty lives, the Common Realm where the commoners live, and the Forsaken Realm. This village, Saussy, is located in the Forsaken Realm. Most of those who inhabit the Forsaken Realm are an inferior race that can only use enough magic to complete daily tasks. They're basically mindless beasts. I was only trying to get rid of the mindless beasts that might steal more of my precious time."

AKIRA: "You shit! That's not an excuse to kill innocent people!" He started to get pissed at that ideology.

HEATH: "You four also had enough magical power to join the Magic Knights, did you not? You're only trying to save them because it's your mission. But in truth, they look like lowly beasts to you, do they not?"

AKIRA: "AS IF!"

ASTA: "Those people you called beasts are lives I have to protect!"

HEATH: "I see. So the filthy beasts are that valuable to you." He created some small icicles around him. Then the mist mage created a vortex around the villagers and from it, the icicles were created. "[Ice and Mist Compound Magic: Endless Ice Cage]. Do you think you can protect those beasts now? I'm not very partial to the team "gradually", but this seems like it'll be the most effective."

The icicles tried to reach the villagers only to Asta reflect on them but as it reached them, Heath dissolved them completely.

HEATH: "Not only can you negate magic, you can repel it, as well. But that is not enough to defeat me. The blades of ice will come one after another. Now, just try and protect them."

Asta, Magna and Akira did their best to protect the villagers with their magic.

MAGNA: "It's going to take everything Asta, Akira and I have to protect the villagers. They have four guys who are at least Magic Knight level. And that guy's still hiding his true powers! This turned out to be one hell of a first mission for those three! This isn't good!" He kept throwing fire balls and the icicles. "But if I cut and run now, I'm not a real man! It just so happens I'm a lowly commoner myself! I'll protect you!"

HEATH: "I wonder how long you'll last." Then a Noelle's water ball approached them but in her state, her power only curved without hitting any of them. "To think one of you can't even control her powers... I guess the Black Bulls were truly desperate for members."

As each of them tried to defend the villagers, it wasn't enough as Heath's power overwhelmed them. Each and one of the villagers were suffering as the icicles were cutting them one by one.

HEATH: "These frail little beasts who can't even protect themselves... If you abandon them, I'll let you live, Magic Knights."

ASTA: "Like hell I'll abandon them!"

MAGNA: "A real man doesn't abandon anybody!"

AKIRA: "The determined are the ones to protect the weak!"

NOELLE: "I'm...royalty. I have more magical power than anyone else. And yet I'm just holding them back! There's no reason for me to be here."

AKIRA: "NOELLE! KEEP THEM ALIVE!" He yelled at her.

NOELLE: "How? He said that if we leave, we could be spared! I could only just run-" She then was interrupted when a little girl tugged her clothes in tears.

FEMALE CHILD: "Miss Magic Knight... Save us!" She begged as she was crying in fear.

NOELLE: "This little girl is asking for help. I'm going to protect them!" Her grimoire started glowing blue and letters were being written in a blank page. "A new spell? There's no way... I can run now!" She started to create a water dome [Water Magic: Naga's Nest] to protect everyone. "I'll protect them! I'm royalty, and a member of the Black Bulls!"

Heath decided to shoot again the icicles but was destroyed by the powerful defense of her magic.

NOELLE: "W-Well, I guess you're not so tough after all."

MAGNA: "Look at that power!" He grinned and looked at her. "Hey, Lady Noe! What'd I tell you? You can do it if you try!"

HEATH: "What? What is this magical power?"

As Heath let his guard down, Asta took this opportunity to leap at his prey. He thrusted directly to Heath's location, hitting his chest.

ASTA: "I don't have any magic powers! But I'm going to kick your ass!"

HOODED MAGE B: "Lord Heath!"

MAGNA: "Supidsta!"

NOELLE: "He... He did it?" She wondered as she still couldn't figure out the outcome.

AKIRA: "He did not. There!" Pointing at the patch of ice that Asta slipped on it.

ASTA: "He broke my momentum by making me slip on a patch of ice?"

HEATH: "Though your sword can negate magic, it appears that you're just a normal human after all." He grinned and opened his grimoire. "Now it's my turn. [Ice Magic: Heavenly Ice Fang]!" But as the glazier almost reached Asta.

AKIRA: "This is bad. [Chain Magic: Returning Escape]!" He summoned a chain that grabbed Asta by the waist and pulled back to them.

MAGNA: "Did you just say [Chain Magic]? I thought you could just use [Fire Magic] and [Water Magic] attributes."

AKIRA: "Asta are you alright?" Checking his friend.

ASTA: "I'm fine. I was just grazed." He held a cut on his body.

HOODED MAGE C: "Lord Heath. I remember that kid is one of the four-leaf clover chosen one."

HEATH: "I see. But no matter. That spell possesses immense magical power. But it's only a matter of time, I should be able to create an entrance big enough for one person." He placed a hand over the dome and started freezing the dome.

ASTA: "As if I let you do that!" He jumped to him but was deflected and fell down behind him

HEATH: "Hmm... You may prefer sleep eternally." He looked at Asta that was laying down immobile then turned to the villagers and the Magic Knights inside the water dome. "Now as I was before. It should take about 25 seconds. You lot seem to greatly enjoy wasting my time. You will pay a heavy price for that."

AKIRA: "Damn it. If I had trained more in magic, this would have been easier." He grumbled under his breath."

MAGNA: "Even though Akira and I have the advantage of the magic types with fire against ice. But he has enough magical power to turn that advantage around even with our combined powers. He's just too strong. Sorry, Mister Yami. I don't think I'm going to win against..." As he continued, Asta appeared from Heath's back to swing his sword.

ASTA: "I'm not done yet!" But it was a failure, Heath summoned again the [Ice Magic: Heavenly Ice Fang] and hit him.

AKIRA & MAGNA: "Asta!"

HEATH: "I'm surprised you're still alive. You're quite resilient. However... You won't be able to swing that sword with those wounds."

ASTA: "Not yet! He charged again.

HEATH: "You're no wild boar." He raised his hand casting the same spell at him.

ASTA: "I'm not done yet!" He staggered on his feet.

HEATH: "Stop. Don't make me waste any more time. You have no chance at winning. Why don't you just give up?"

ASTA: "Because if I do... I won't be able to protect anyone. I've come to realize something; I'm not doing this simply because I gave my word... I'm going to become the WIZARD KING to protect everyone!" He announced proudly.

Magna recalled his time when he was chosen as a Magic Knight and everyone on his village were happy for it.

MAGNA: "I'm not going to give up until the end. You're really earning my respect, Asta." He then punched himself. "What good would it do if I gave up?"

AKIRA: "Magna-senpai..."

MAGNA: "This spell... It's probably a lot easier to get outside than in, right?" He said to Noelle.

NOELLE: "Uh... Yes, I think so."

MAGNA: "Akira, come with me. Noelle, I'll leave them to you!" He ran outside the dome.

AKIRA: "Yes, sir!" He followed from behind.

NOELLE: "H-Hey!"

HEATH: "The Wizard King? What a foolish dream. Unfortunately, you'll be dead in one minute."

MAGNA: "That's not happening, you dumbass!"

AKIRA: "As if we could let you do as you please!"

Both of them left the dome and roared.

AKIRA: "If you are going to kill him..."

MAGNA: "...you're going to have to get through us, his senior and friend, first!"

ASTA: "Magna-senpai, Akira."

MAGNA: "You know... You're quite the man, Asta."

AKIRA: "You said it, senpai."

HEATH: "You fool. You've just hastened your death. Thirty seconds." And the other hooded mages were preparing to attack them.

MAGNA: "Bring it on! Akira do it as I say." Akira nodded at the instruction of his senior. "Here we go, Asta."

ASTA: "Huh?"

MAGNA: "Time for an initiation!" Then he understood for what he intended to. "Take this! Soul Blaze. [Fire Magic: Prison Death Scattershot]!"

AKIRA: "[Fire Magic: Blazing Buckshot]!" The fire bullets flew to Heath only to be mocked.

HEATH: "Is this an act of desperation? [Ice Magic: Crystal Ice Shield]" He summoned ice shields to block the fire bullets and some icicles over Magna and Akira. "It seems you wasted your last resort."

ASTA: "NO, IT WAS NOT A WASTE!" He jumped in front of the fire bullets, preparing to deflect them.

HEATH: "They drew us in with a decoy, then used our blind spot... Magic reflection!" Is what he thought before the four mages were hit by those reflected fire balls.

As for Akira and Magna, when the smoke dissipated, it seemed that Noelle protected both of them with her defense magic.

AKIRA: "Great job, Noelle!" He gave her a thumb up.

NOELLE: "You'd better thank me, you mohawked delinquent." She said, with a proud tone but on her inside. "Yes! Yes! I was able to control my magic!"

MAGNA: "Tch. You never shut up, do you?" He grinned, annoyed by insulting him but brushed it off since it made Noelle grow a little.

Among the flames, the three hooded mages were unconscious but Heath got up and resisted the flames that was covering his body.

HEATH: "These flames... won't go out? Then I'll just freeze them over!" He started covering himself in ice, only the part the flames were, but then.

ASTA: "Not yet! I can still move!" He prepared to swing his sword to him.

HEATH: "W-Wait..." He begged.

ASTA: "Like hell I will!" He smashed his sword over Heath's shoulder. Akira took out the camera quickly and take the shot.

AKIRA: "Pheew~ Just in time." He wiped the imaginary sweat. For what both of the team members were curious when he took out the unknown item.

HEATH: "I lost to this brat? I wanted... to be of more use... to the master..." He thought before passing out.

After the villagers celebrated their survival and the Magic Knights' first victory. The flames that covered the bodies of these mysterious mages were being restrained for what left to Asta confused.

MAGNA: "First, my [Flame Magic: Prison Death Scattershot], and now, [Flame Binding Magic: Flame Bondage Formation]." He explained while crouching.

AKIRA: "You're great, senpai!" He complimented him.

NOELLE: "I guess you're more talented than you look. Have some praise."

MAGNA: *tick mark* "Shut up! I'm your senior! Why are you looking down on me?!" He turned to spat her.

NOELLE: "Well, you're physically below-" But then Asta shouted, only to notice that one of the hooded mages was escaping.

HOODED MAGE C: "[Water Magic: Narrow Waterway Escape]"

AKIRA: "Damn it, I forgot about him..."

MAGNA: "Oh no! I let one get away, dammit!"

NOELLE: "What are you doing? You need to follow through properly!" She said but then her water dome was finally at its limit for and, it fell over all on her and the villagers.

MAGNA: "GAHAHAHA! You've still got a way to go, Lady Noe! More importantly." He glanced at Akira. "HOW THE HELL YOU USED A DIFFERENT ATTRIBUTE INSTEAD OF [FIRE MAGIC] AND [WATER MAGIC]?!" He grabbed his collar, shaking him for answers.

The clouds finally dissipated from the sky, leaving a light of hope over the village.

ASTA: "How'd you like that? Some lowly commoners just won. HOW'D YOU LIKE THAT, DAMN IT~?!" He roared before falling down.

MAGNA: "Asta!" He released Akira and went to him, only to throw himself to the floor comically. "Wait, he's asleep?!" Akira could only laugh at the scene.

NOELLE: "Honestly, he's so ridiculous." He remarked. "He's stupid, loud, and a lowly commoner... But he's sort of amazing." She started blushing.

MALE ADULT VILLAGER A: "Whew... We're saved."

MALE ADULT VILLAGER B: "He's just a boy."

MALE ADULT VILLAGER C: "Is he really a commoner like us?"

AKIRA: "Yeah, we came from Hage."

MALE ADULT VILLAGER C: "I see."

MALE ADULT VILLAGER A: "Magna, young lady, boy... Thank you."

MAGNA: "No problem!"

NOELLE: "It was nothing." She said proudly, flapping her hair.

AKIRA: "We just did as any Magic Knights would do." He said, crossing his arms.

MALE ADULT VILLAGER B: "You're our saviors!" Then the villagers noticed something moving in Asta's robe.

MALE ADULT VILLAGER D: "What's that? An anti-bird?"

The anti-bird flew up over the village to look for something, noticed an item inside the church and went there. Given the time that those terrorists were unconscious Akira managed to copy their attribute: [Ice Magic] and [Mist Magic], the other two were [Water Magic] type users so he did not plan to copy them. After some minutes, Heath started regaining the consciousness as the others.

MAGNA: "Oh? You finally awake, you jerk? I'm going to rest a bit more and then escort you to the royal capital on my Crazy Cyclone."

AKIRA: "I don't think it will be a great idea, sir." He whispered to him.

MAGNA: "Don't care. Spend the rest of your life atoning for what you did to those villagers, you bastards."

HEATH: "So my magic is sealed."

MAGNA: "You're going to spill everything to the Magic Knights, including who you guys are and what your motives are!" He stated.

HEATH: "I refuse." He made an immediate reply. "It appears the end has come." For what left them confused, except Akira. Heath and the others started glowing in their abdomens.

MAGNA: "There was a magic item inside him?"

HEATH: "[Ice Magic: Ice Funeral]" The bodies were covered in ice then they shattered, sending them to their deaths and their grimoires disappeared from their hands.

MAGNA: "Talk about resolve. Is there someone he was that royal to?"

AKIRA: "Anyone that loyal could have done the same." He gulped. He already knew beforehand about them but it will still be a secret for now.

ASTA: "You idiot!" He gritted his teeth.

MAGNA: "He went through all that... What was he after, anyway?"

ASTA: "What do you think life is?! I'm never going to acknowledge these jerks! Never!" He was mad at Heath's decision.

AKIRA walked to where the shattered bodies were and picked the only thing that wasn't destroyed, the pocket watch.

AKIRA: "So he would do anything for that guy?"

Over time, before the Magic Knights regained their energies, they went to the cliff where old man Seyha was buried. They encountered with the kid who was also his grandson crying over his grave.

MAGNA: "So, Nick, I heard that Old Man Seyha was the only one to stand up to those guys. Your grandpa was a real man."

NICK: "... Grandpa sounded really happy. He said that even though it was just gambling, he still beat some Magic Knights."

MAGNA: "Yeah."

FEMALE CHILD: "He gave this to me as a gift." Showing a doll, she was carrying. "He even bought lots of yummy food for everyone in the village."

NICK: "He never got to be one, but Grandpa always admired the Magic Knights."

MAGNA: "Yeah."

NICK: "And they were also his regret."

AKIRA & ASTA: "Regret?"

NICK: "He always regretted not working harder when he was younger."

MAGNA: "Yeah..."

NICK: "But... he seemed really happy about the fact that Magna was working hard for the both of them." He turned to see him.

MAGNA: "Yeah." He was surprised at his words and looked away to avoid crying.

NICK: "Hey, do you think... I'll be able to become a Magic Knight, too?"

MAGNA: "Of course! Nothing's impossible! Your future is something that you decide for yourself!"

ASTA: "Not only am I a commoner, but I've got no magic power, and I still made it in! But you've gotta work super extra hard!"

AKIRA: "Yeah! With hard work and practice, you could be a Magic Knight!"

MAGNA: "Give it your all!"

NOELLE: "Do your best."

NICK: "Yeah!" He nodded.

ASTA: "By the time you join the Magic Knights, I'm going to be working even harder, doing even more missions, and I'll be even closer to becoming the Wizard King."

MAGNA: "Jeez. There you got talking nonsense again. But you need to dream big. That's what it means to be a man!"

AKIRA: "Well, we are talking about him, right?" He chuckled. Asta went to Nick to give him a fist bump on his chest and said.

ASTA: "I'll be waiting for you, kid!"

NICK: "Right!" Everyone smiled but then Asta felt something hitting on his head.

ASTA: "Ow, ow, ow, ow!" The anti-bird was carrying a stone and with that it was pecking on his head. "What do you have against my head, you stupid bird?! You wanna fight?! Why, you..." He then noticed the item the anti-bird was carrying on its beak. "What's that stone?"

NICK: "Oh, that's a charm that my grandpa had."

ASTA: *shock* "Hey, that's really important! Let go! Give it back!" He was pulling the stone out of the bird's beak.

AKIRA: "Hey, hey. Do not harm the bird."

NICK: *laugh* "You can have it. Apparently that bird really likes it. It's the least I can do to repay you guys for saving us."

ASTA: "O-Okay..." The anti-bird sat on Asta's head as a nest.

NOELLE: "Those spiteful little eyes... Th-They're so cute!" Her eyes were sparkling at the anti-bird. "You can come over here, too!" She said to the bird. Then the anti-bird started pecking again on his head.

ASTA: "OW, OW, OW, OW, OW, OW! What is your problem with my head?! I'm gonna barbecue you!" The bird flew away from him and he followed from behind, only to return as the anti-bird stated pecking his head with the stone. Everyone else just laughed for Asta's misfortune.

-In some unknown place-

MALE VOICE: "So Heath was... I see. So the magic stone fell into the hands of the Black Bulls and they have someone with a four-leaf clover Magic Knight."

HOODED MAGE C: "Yes." He replied while kneeled down.

MALE VOICE: "No matter. We can take care of the Black Bulls any time. Let them hold on to the magic stone for a while. Our master's resurrection is close at hand. And nobody will prevent our plans."
