Little Tsu: Ok uhhh...well...next chap? I hope...My brain is kinda fried now. Typin' this at almost 5:30 in the mornin' after bein' up all night.x.x"
Ch: 7
The days seem to drag by slowly since that day.
The entirity of the DWMA now knew Makoto was part witch and, because of this news, everyone pretty much avoided her now as if she were the plague. None of the students spoke to her, they gave her and Chronos looks of either fear, unease, or disgust whenever they were in class or passed by in the halls or cafeteria, there were also a lot of whisperings behind their backs, but they heard it all...The students knew they could hear them too.
...Could hear the fear...The hate...
"Why are they even still here? A witch doesn't belong in a school for weapons and meisters."
"A witch that would kill her own kind?...What's stopping her from turning on us too?"
"She's half witch, right? Think her soul would still count if one of us tried to kill her?"
"Knowone wants her and that traitorous weapon around. They should do us all a favor and disappear."
Every word cut Makoto deeper and deeper, but on the outside, she forced herself to remain calm and composed. She had to be in order to keep Chronos reigned in from him wanting to lash out at those that insulted them. Makoto knew that he didn't care what they said about himself, but rather the reason he wanted to slit their throats was because the hate and rejection wounded her soul and made it tremble with emotional pain and termoil.
...And that was something she wasn't able to hide from her weapon, unlike how she was able to with everyone else that didn't have soul perception...
As the final bell rang for the Academy to let out for the day, Makoto and Chronos rose up from their seats and went to leave, but in stepping out onto the steps to make her way down to leave the classroom, the meister of the two bumped into someone. Flinching slightly at this even though she hadn't hurt herself physically, it had distracted her for the briefest of instances from her composure and allowed the emotional pain to flash across her features at the thought of the one she bumped into possibly lashing out at her for touching them with her 'tainted' skin. "I...I'm sorry..."
When she didn't receive an answer of any sort, she hesitantly lifted her gaze from the steps to the one she bumped into. When she did, Makoto instantly wished that she hadn't. Standing there before her was none other than Kid as he gave her a silent look of distrust. Standing nearby were his weapons, the Thompson sisters, along with Soul and Maka as well. "K-Kid-san, I..."
With a 'tch' under his breath, Kid turned away and made his way down the steps as he left the classroom with the sisters right behind him. Maka passed by silently as well as she casted her a hesitant look before hurrying off. Only Soul seemed to linger around as he gave her a look that she was unable to read. His expression was completely blank, which was an extreme rarity. She couldn't tell at all what he was thinking and that actually scared her.
"S-Soul, I...I can expla-."
"Maybe ya should leave..."
"Wh-What...?"
Sighing softly, Soul gave her a tired look within his crimson eyes as he spoke up again. "Leave...You know, leave this school. You're a witch...This is a school that eventually hunts witches to kill and eat their soul in order to become a death weapon...You don't belong here; half witch or not..." Closing his eyes gently, the scythe weapon made his way down to go after his friends. As he did though, he spoke one last time. "...I'm telling you this as a warning...But only because I actually cared about you..."
Watching as Soul, too, left, Makoto stood there in shock towards all of this. It was only when Chronos rested his hand gently onto her shoulder, that she snapped out of it and glanced up at him with a lost look within her gaze; a look of comforting sympathy in his own. They knew...Even though it would only cause them added pain, they knew what needed to be done...With those thoughts in mind, the two left the classroom as well.
The next day, Makoto and Chronos didn't come to school. It was something all the students felt relief and pleasure towards. After all, they didn't have to constantly be on edge in the very school they were supposed to feel safe in. They felt relieved that they would have at least one day of relaxing without the witch attending school.
However, the days passed, and neither Makoto nor Chronos came to school on any of those days. The school was beginning to feel a bit restless and fidgety now. Like they felt like they might've incurred the wrath of the witch half within Makoto and chased her to the side of the witches; to eventually have her return and strike down every last one of them. It was only when Dr Stein faced the class with an almost dead look in his usual playfully sadistic pale jade eyes, that it wasn't anything good.
"Not that any of you would care,...but Makoto Stein and Chronos Loki have withdrawn from the DWMA...In fact, they no longer even reside in Death City anymore. All contact with either one has been lost in the attempts to find them. Even Shinigami-sama has been blocked out." His eyes then filled with a cold and scathing look towards the entire class that sent unwanted chills up their spines. "To all the students that treated my daughter and her weapon so terribly simply because she's part witch, you can now pat yourselves on the back...You just made me lose the only remaining family I had left and possibly brought about the end or betrayel of one of the best meister and weapon this academy has ever been graced with."
With those final words, Dr Stein started class and went about his teaching with his back now turned to the class.
The students glanced amongst themselves in worry and guilt now as they began to realize just the sort of concequenses that their actions had caused. Everyone was beginning to feel that rising anxiety from the guilt they were feeling on this. Even Death the Kid and his friends were not immune and singled out in this. They, too, were beginning to feel with true weight of their childish actions in how they had treated Makoto the moment they found out she was part witch, rather than remembering how they were around her before they found out.
Tilting his head down, Kid stared at his palms with wide spiral gold eyes as his hands trembled slightly. He was the one that felt the heaviest weight of them all because the moment he found out Makoto was a witch that day, he blindly forgot the way he felt about her from before he found out...And now,...it might even be too late to rectify the heartless actions and words he had sent Makoto's way...
'...What have I done?'
To be continued.
Little Tsu: Ok, yeah, I know it's a lil short, but I felt it needed ta end there & that way for this chap. What d'ya think is gonna happen ta Makoto & Chronos? Will they disappear for good, will they turn on those that pained them at the Academy, & if they're actually found, will they actually forgive Kid and everyone else for the emotional pain they caused them?
Till next time!
