Hey guy's :) here's another chapter for you, it's another one with BB and Star, but don't worry I will get everyone together here soon in a matter of time ! :D

Like always I own nothing but the story, cheers!

A Falling Star

Looking over the horizon he could spot a rainbow touching down on side of the hills. He watched the colors blend together and radiate out across the tree tops. Beast Boy let his eyes drop toward the land farther out to the left where between layers of pines he could see a stream. He strained his ears toward the source of water, trying to detect the faint bubbling grazing against the rock. But his location was too far from there and he sighed, instead only feeling the wind drift across his muzzle where he sat partially outside the small rocky hideout. Looking up towards the clouds he felt a large weight lift from his chest, the storm was finally past and while it was only an hour long many of the trees felt the damage of the powerful act of nature. Pieces of branches were strewn all across the area, nettles covered rocks and it seemed as though half a ton more leaves were dumped all across the terrain filled with colors of red, yellow and green. It even managed to rip out a small oak that was just a few feet tall straight from its roots.

"Glad we found this shelter while we did." Beast Boy murmured to himself noting the damage across the area with observant eyes.

"Oh yes…it was most helpful!" Starfire replied who continued to sit farther inside the crevice. Beast Boy turned to look at her with his bright green eyes. Her fur was settled neatly down her back. Ever since the storm had passed she had been restlessly patting down her fur, insisting it was ragged and unkempt. He watched her place her russet paws and brushed her tail down to a neat layer and smiled when it lay flat. Beast Boy rolled his eyes in exasperation.

"Star, you're just going to get it dirty again!" Beast Boy pointed out with a flick of his ears.

Starfire glanced up at the silver coated wolf and stared at him with surprise. "If I can't take a shower then this is the next best thing! A girl has to look nice, even if she was turned into a canine..." She smiled and stood, trying to keep her nicely flatted, mud free fur back.

"Whatever." Beast Boy laughed and shook his head, he will never understand girls. Looking back out toward the land he let out a deep breath and stood, watching as Starfire padded up next to him to look out towards the terrain as well. She stood there next to him for a minute, her eyes swarming over the broken branches and fallen debris. Then with her side vision she gazed at Beast Boy, "Do you think the others are safe?"

Beast Boy looked at her then back towards the wasted debris, "Yeah Star, I think they are." With that he took a tentative step forward then another until he was outside the crevice. He felt the wind suddenly slap him in the face and he lowered his ears in response. Starfire followed in pursuit, tripping over her paws before reaching where Beast Boy stood. Her ears flapped in the wind as she squinted towards Beast Boy.

The wind seemed to still hold whereas the storm had passed, looking to the clouds he noticed they were still racing away, chasing after the storm that had just left. But unlike the dark clouds earlier, these were white and fluffy like soft cotton balls floating quickly in the late afternoon sky.

Beast Boy took a step forward and began to head toward the stream he was gazing at just moments before. Starfire watched him for a second before taking a few careful steps then quickly padding behind him. She lifted her head and gazed at the area around her with awe, seeing the birds suddenly appear from the sky and dive down into the trees. She giggled watching a robin dive between branches with a worm clamped in its beak. Beast Boy glanced behind and watched her laugh as the forest suddenly came alive.

A small butterfly floated nearby, its yellow wings flapping quietly around the two and Starfire suddenly took off in chase. Beast Boy gazed at her with amusing eyes, watching her run with pure innocence. He laughed himself as he watched her circle and he paused, sitting down with entertained eyes. He wrapped his tail around his paws, watching her leap into the air and barely missing the butterfly. Beast Boy let out another laugh and Starfire glanced over towards him with embarrassment. Suddenly the butterfly returned and landed on her nose and she narrowed with an evil gaze. Sweeping her paw, Beast Boy watched her slice through thin air as the butterfly took to the sky. Her paw was so forceful that she toppled on her back with a loud "Oof!"

Beast Boy quickly got to his paws with a bountiful laugh and almost toppled over himself from his laughter. His claws gripped the ground as he caught his breath watching Starfire slowly get to her paws with a sheepish smile.

"What was that Starfire?" He lifted his paw in the air and swatted at a leaf that floated nearby, shattering the leaf into many different pieces. Starfire shrugged then smiled, "I guess I'm just finally learning to get the best out of this new world." She paused, waiting for Beast Boy to quiet down. His laughing slowed and then fell silent, a smile still stuck on his features.

"See? Being an animal isn't so bad huh Starfire?" He retorted.

She laughed then a frown covered her features, letting her eyes slip to the side she sighed, "Maybe…but it would be different if I could just switch back to my Tameranian form whenever I wished."

"I get it…I wish I could transform too, but we can't…" Beast Boy sighed, his own smile beginning to slip, "So I guess we'll just have to deal with it until we can find the others."

"I agree!" Starfire replied as the duo began to pad away toward the stream. It took them a few minutes of travel until they reached it. When they did they each took long drinks, while Beast Boy rolled in the water again to lessen the smell from earlier which had went down considerably. Either that or he was just getting used to it. Padding out of the stream they both decided to follow the water source in hopes of their friends doing the same.

"I sure hope we find them soon! I am most hungry." Starfire murmured after an hour of walking. Beast Boy flicked a bug away from his ear and glanced her way, "same here!"

She smiled, "I am saddened though I did not get to cook for you tonight, and I had the most enjoyable dinner planned! It was called the Squid cakes!"

Beast Boy glanced at her and gave a half smile, "Oh…well, that sounds…appetizing… maybe next time. Or month…or year you can!" He laughed then looked away feeling his stomach do a flip.

"Yes, I am very excited!" She giggled, and both titans suddenly fell silent, a quiet, unknown sound vibrating in the air nearby.

Beast Boy paused alongside Starfire and glanced around with weary eyes, looking past the trees and stream he only saw the various foliage from the storm's path. Ears twisting to get a better perception he glanced behind him with uncertainty. Starfire looked around as well, both seemingly feeling the same overpowering force of fright deep in their bones. Something was wrong…very wrong and Beast Boy's animal senses were sparking out of control.

Something is here…I am in danger…no we are in danger…what is it….where is it….

Beast Boy's thoughts whirled around inside his head and he felt himself fall dizzy to all the emotion spiking from himself and his teammate. Feeling it was best to keep moving he shook off his gut feeling and pushed Starfire gently with his muzzle, "We have to keep moving…." Starfire nodded in agreement and they both continued down the trail, their fear slowly melting away. After a few minutes the two titans felt their initial warning slipping until their paw steps slowed and muscles relaxed.

As they continued to walk next to the steam something caught Starfire's eyes. Her features lit up and she let out an excited cry, "Beast Boy, look!" Beast Boy stopped in his tracks and gazed at where she was pointed, seeing various berry bushes all around the area. With a smile, Starfire leaped over toward the nearest bush and gazed at them with wide eyes. "Beast Boy, do you think they are edible?"

Beast Boy padded forward next to her and nosed one of the berries, which fell off and splattered at his paws. "Um… I'm not really an expert at berry eating Star…." He paused…"But I guess they do look safe to eat..."

Starfire looked at him and her stomach growled, "Oh, I wish I knew if they were… I am so very hungry." Her ears drooped as she stared at all the delicious berries surrounding her, taunting her.

Beast Boy looked at them too, feeling his own stomach ravage at the thought of food. He smelled the fallen berry then gazed at the rest, "Well… I guess you never know until you try one!" With that and an undesirable hunger he reached out and snapped a few into his mouth, the taste of blueberries filled his taste buds and he swallowed with pleasure.

Starfire stared at him with dismay and he smiled with reassurance, "They're blueberries!" Taking a few more he stuffed them in his mouth, the blue juice spraying on his silver muzzle. Starfire watched him eat for a few seconds before tentatively taking a few in her jaws as well, swallowing slowly before also falling for the sweet juice that enveloped in her mouth. Soon the two titans were busy away eating the berries, their fur sticky and paws turning blue from constantly smashing the ones on the ground. Beast Boy turned to the other side of the bush and snapped a few in his jaws then with excitement leaped to another bush to devour more. As he walked around the second bush he hit into something else that was snacking on the blueberries. Falling down to his rear he shook his head and looked up to see brown fur covering his eyesight and two bright hazel eyes staring at him with fear.

"Aw shit." He mumbled, immediately recognizing it to be a little bear cub staring at him with a brother nearby. Both cubs let out a cry of fear, Beast Boy pushing back from shock and scampering to his paws. The two bears fell back as well then quickly turned to the nearest tree and leaped, racking their claws up the bark until they were on the nearest branch, looking down. The two cups cried out again and Beast Boy lowered his ears in fear. Turning around he scampered around the bush and almost smacked into Starfire who was gazing up at the cubs in the tree.

"Aw! Beast Boy look, its baby bears! They're so cute!" She giggled as Beast Boy glanced around wildly, "Yeah, yeah they're cute alright, but we have to leave now!"

Starfire looked at him as if he was crazy, "What? We can't leave yet, I have yet to fill up my stomach with these yummy berries! They are fantastic!" She laughed then snapped a few more in her jaws as Beast Boy continued to look around, his ears casting to the sides.

Looking back up she smiled, "Aw- You aren't afraid of those little teddy bears are you?" She smiled, looking up to the little cups staring at them, "Hello friends! I'm Starfire! Don't be frightened, I am your friend!"

Beast Boy turned his gaze on her and was about to refute her comment when a shadow fell over Starfire and his fears were confirmed.

"Um-Starfire, I'm not afraid of the cubs- it's the mother who I'm afraid of!" Beast Boy shouted.

Starfire looked at her teammate then noticing the shadow she turned her head and fear suddenly griped the pit of her stomach. A large mother bear towered over the bush, looking over at her cubs first before confirming the predators that scared them. Looking down the two titans stared into large hazel eyes that bored with a look of territorial revenge.

A second passed where Beast Boy and Starfire held their breath, hoping she would be forgiving and just pass them by. But as the second turned into seconds the mother opened her jaws and let out a ferocious outraged roar. Globs of spit fell onto the pair and their fur spiked up with fear. Scrambling, the two titans dug their claws into the ground and took off past the bushes, Beast Boy's fur getting caught in the twigs before ripping it out and trailing after Starfire, the bear in pursuit.

"You are not nice!" Starfire shouted as she raced away from the bushes and beside the stream bed. Beast Boy raced up next to her, feeling the bear's hot breath behind them. Usually wolves would be able to outrun the bear, but because Starfire was still beginning to learn, Beast Boy had to slow down her pace so she wouldn't trip over her paws.

A sound of rushing water reached his ears and he glanced at the stream nearby, it was growing faster, he smiled realizing what it meant. A river is coming up…maybe if we can cross, the bear will turn around!

With that thought in mind he raced toward the sound, gaining a little ways ahead of Starfire so she could follow him. They could feel the hot breath on the back of their paws as they raced away from the omnivore. As they neared the sound of the rushing water Beast Boy picked up speed, glancing behind him to make sure Starfire was still behind him. The bear was beginning to fall behind and as he raced around an oak tree and jumped through a bush, skidding on his side, a river just a few feet ahead of him.

Beast Boy felt his breath empty out of his lungs as Starfire landed on top of him by accident. "Oh, friend I am sorry- I" but she was out of breath and didn't have time to finish the sentence because Beast Boy pushed her away to scramble on his paws.

"It's- it's cool Star…look we need to get across this-"he took in a large breath of air, "-this river and we should be fine…" he let out a breath feeling fatigue from the sudden run. Starfire nodded in agreement and they raced toward the edge of the river, the stream that was beside them was quickly emptying into it. Beast Boy's ears traveled behind him, hearing rustling of leaves and cracks of twigs. Swallowing a pile of spit he gazed across the river, feeling his heart face a million beats per minute.

Stepping forward he felt the rush of the water trailing over his paws. Gazing out across he noticed the current was strong and watched a large tree limb race past the duo. The river looked to be about as wide as a semi-truck. Looking downstream his worries lifted seeing a log struck down from lightning from the recent storm across the river. The bark was black with ash and the limbs protruded every which way, but that didn't matter, they had a bridge and a way to cross.

"Come on Starfire…I- I think we can cross over there!" He cried out over the loud river splashing and sloshing on the bank.

Starfire nodded, fear clearly written on her face, "Ok." The pair raced toward the trunk, both still able to hear trampling in the forest behind them.

Beast Boy skidded in the pebbles under his paws as they reached the edge of the trunk. Starfire halted beside him and he turned his head to see her wide eyes trained on his. She waited for his move, standing attentively behind him, her ears flat from the wind driving against the river current. She blinked, gazing toward his paws and a surprised expression formed on her face. Squinting from the wind she then looked at Beast Boy, "Look at your paws Beast Boy!"

Beast Boy baffled glanced at his paws and saw a sparkle near his left claw. Staring for a second it dawned on him that it was the same color of the jewel that had split before he woke up in this form. Reaching down he snatched it in his teeth and narrowed his eyes to get a better look. Starfire padded up closer and stared at it, but they didn't have time to speak as a crash of the trees behind the duo caught their attention. The both whipped around and saw the bear standing at the edge of the river, letting in scents as to where the intruders in her territory had gone.

Starfire's tail ducked near her legs and Beast Boy nudged her toward the trunk across the river. She traced her eyes back to the speeding water and stared at the bridge before them. She swallowed nervously and Beast Boy watched her take in a slow breath, seeing the fast current slapping at the bottom of the trunk.

Beast Boy took the lead and padded up to the trunk, glancing over to where the bear still stood feet away still gazing across the river. Beast Boy quickly hopped onto the bark, claws gripping the soggy trunk. He looked back at Starfire who stood staring at him and he whipped his head forward, telling her to follow him. Starfire nodded silently and Beast Boy took his first few paw steps forward letting the alien princess get a grip and climb on the trunk.

Beast Boy gazed ahead of him and felt his stomach drop; it didn't look that far when he first saw it. The trunk seemed to stretch endlessly from one side of the bank to the other. He felt the water nip at his paws as he took another step, claws digging into the bark. Water slapped into his face and he squinted his eyes, the wind causing his ears to flap wildly in the wind. He took a few more steps and gazed behind him to see Starfire slowly following behind, head lowered and belly soaked by the river. After a few more steps he was halfway on the trunk, legs shaking from the quick effort of having to stabilize himself with balance.

But that wasn't the only thing he saw behind him. The bear had finally noticed their position and was watching at the edge of the trunk with large hazel eyes. Taking a step the trunk shook with ferocity and dipped closer to the water. Beast Boy, startled by the sudden shaking lost his footing and fell on his stomach; a splitting crack rang in the moist air. Beast Boy's back paws skimmed the edge of the current that bit at his tail and dared him to fall in its clutches. Scrambling for a better hold he scratched at the trunk with his claws, digging into the bark. But as he pulled forward his jaws opened and to his dismay the jewel, sparkling from the water droplets fell into the river, swept away in the current.

Beast Boy lifted up on his haunches, dread seeping in his bones and a shadow loomed beside him. Starfire leaned down as if ready to plunge in the river after the jewel. But Beast Boy quickly lashed out, getting his grip with his back claws and snapped his teeth in Starfire's scruff who almost leaped off.

Starfire halted, gaining her balance on the trunk and stared at him, "Beast Boy, the jewel! We have to-"But Beast Boy shook his head, "Forget about the jewel, the currents too strong you could drown!" He yelled over the wind slapping against his ears. Starfire stared at him then the river she finally shook her head in agreement.

The tree trunk suddenly moved again and the duo glanced back at where the bear stood half its body on the bark the other half still on the pebbles. She let out another roar, as if to say: and stay out! But as she had done this another crack sounded in the air and Beast Boy felt the rush of air suddenly hit his stomach. Looking down he saw the splitting of the wood and turned around, clawing his way forward, about five feet away from the bank.

Beast Boy glanced behind him to see Starfire standing petrified of what to do; she glanced behind her at the bear, ears flat then turned to look at Beast Boy who had raced ahead of her. The princess gripped the wood and called out to her friend, "Beast Boy, I'm scared!"

Beast Boy's eyes widened, he has never heard her ever say that before. This was serious… gripping the soaked wood he felt the trunk move again, the current slamming into them daring to rip the trunk in two pieces.

"Look at me Starfire, only me!" He yelled out, his ears flapping behind him. Starfire stared, her eyes wide as saucers. She didn't move.

"Come on Starfire, listen to my voice. We're in the titan's tower and…and were just doing an obstacle course…. ok and Robin and the others are watching!" He paused to catch his breath, pushing away all his fears to protect his friend, "So you need to show them all you got, come on Starfire, its easy…just one paw in front of the other…"

Starfire nodded and placed a paw out in front then another then suddenly stopped seeing the large crack under her paw spread slightly from the river slamming into it. She looked up, frozen in place the cold river air smacking at her underbelly.

"Come on Starfire-I promise I won't let anything happen to ya, just keep walking- yeah that's it!" Beast Boy shouted as he slowly began walking backwards himself toward the bank, keeping an eye on her.

Starfire gave him a forced smile, her whole body shaking from the cold. She took a few more steps, looking only at her friend, tail down, ears pressed flat on her skull.

Beast Boy continued to back up until he was on the edge of the trunk and watched her with calm eyes. She took another step, her efforts slow but progress was made. Looking past her he saw the bear lift up off the trunk, turning around to recede back to her family. But with the movement the wood finally snapped and Beast Boy watched with wide eyes as the trunk suddenly split, opening up like a large cat, hungry for its next meal.

It was a matter of seconds, Beast Boy leaped to the edge of the trunk, seeing his teammate slip against the wood. His jaws snapped on her fur and yanked hard as her hind quarters fell into the river underneath them. Starfire screamed in surprise and lashed out her front paws to get a hold, but the current was strong and with nothing to grab hold of immediately, Beast Boy's grip failed him and her fur slipped between his teeth.

Beast Boy watched in horror, seeing Starfire suddenly disappear from sight, the water slapping at his mussel. Backing up he felt the rest of the trunk give way and he leaped from it, landing on the bank. Turning around he saw the remainder of the log swept away from the current. Eyes wide he looked across the river for any signs of Starfire before fear exploded in his gut.

"Starfire!" he screamed and suddenly shot off beside the river, racing beside the bank, screaming out her name repeatedly.

Oh God please don't be dead…please don't be dead… Knowing full well how difficult it is to swim as a canine himself, it must be impossible for his beginner teammate.

His paws were pierced from the rocks and the wind slapped him in the face as he raced on the edge watching debris flash before his eyes in the fast current. The current seemed to pick up the farther Beast Boy ran and he had a hard time seeing the log that was swept away, but he kept running, the muscles in his legs screaming to stop. Skidding to a sudden halt he almost slammed into a tree and veered away, racing around it and continuing on his path, panic rising in his chest and despair crossing every thought in his mind.

Where are you …where are you!? I know you're there! Come on you're the strongest titan you cant-

Beast Boy felt himself choke and he tripped over a root protruding near the bank, skidding in the pebbles, scratching up his sides. He lay there for a minute, the situation dawning on him. The wind tossed his fur and howled in his ears. He took in a breath and slowly stood up, looking at the river that sped in front of him. Taking in another breath he took a few steps forward and picked up speed again.

I can't give up on my teammate…. She would never give up on me or Robin or any of us!

He ran for a few more minutes until a sound caught his attention and dread settle in the pit of his stomach, Beast Boy wanted to throw up right then and there. No…please no…don't let it be a- A large drop-off suddenly came into sight and he pushed forward until he stood at the very edge, staring down into the abyss. A waterfall.

"No!" He screamed, fear evident in his voice. Looking down at the path before him he skidded down the forest floor, twigs getting tied in his silver coat and pine nettles sticking to him like sap. Shaking his head he pushed forward and raced down the cliffside, slipping, falling and skidding until he found himself at the bottom ten minutes later. Pushing through a pair of tree trunks he halted at the edge of the river which was considerably calm and raced into the water, the waterfall a little ways away from where he stood.

"Starfire, where are you?" He screamed, paws splashing in the water, soaking his belly. He jumped forward, into a deeper portion and felt the ooze of mud grip his paws and cover his belly the current, while not strong, still tugged considerably on his silver coat. Beast Boy shook himself and the mud splattered across his body. Not caring about his image he looked around swiftly for any signs of Starfire.

"Star, if you can hear me shout my name!" He paused listening.

"Starfire!" He yelled, hearing his voice echo from the water racing past his paws.

"Starfire…." He replied quieter, ears flat, hunches down. The wind seemed to die down as he stared at the water above his muddy paws. The current quickly rippled around him.

"This is my fault." He murmured to himself. He felt something hot press against his eyes and he closed them, lowering his head toward the water. "I promised I would protect you." He felt a whimper rise in his voice and it suddenly cracked, "I'm sorry."

He sat there in the water for a few minutes before standing up and dragging himself out of the river, the current trying to pull him down on his side. He almost even let it. But he tugged anyway and sat down on the bank, exhausted and beaten, staring down the river where his teammate may or may not be. He looked up toward the top of the waterfall, seeing the log they had crossed earlier got jammed between two rocks jutted at the top.

Letting out a sigh he lowered his head on his paws and stared out into the river, waiting for Starfire to pop out and tell him she was alright. His eyes felt heavy as he continued to stare in the water, watching the fish dart to and fro. He blinked and the world became blurry. Staring he felt himself slip and suddenly snapped his eyes open.

Starfire!

But to his disappointment, it was only a piece of driftwood floating by. His muscles refusing to move, his coat water logged and body scratched head to toe from the trek he knew this day was by far on his top ten worst days ever.

Hey! Hope you enjoyed my story, leave me review if you did or perhaps if you didn't! I don't mind either way :)

I should also let you know that if you wanted to return to my first chapter, I had revised the beginning! I was really hating on that food fight scene, so I changed it up to fit the story better. Don't worry nothing has changed, the plot is still the same :D I'm just really happy I did that cause it really needed tlc.
