Two men stood closely huddled together on top of a hill overlook the park which Evangeline, Crowley and the Hellhound had just vacated. They had been close enough to hear every word of the conversation that had just taken place. The taller of the two men had a thick head of dark brown hair and a more muscular build than one would expect to find on a man wearing the long, black robes of a priest. He wore a large ornate cross around his neck and a very worried expression was etched onto his face. Despite the fact that his face looked young, the lines of worry on his face told a different story. He pulled of the thick rimmed glasses which sat across his nose and rubbed his eyes in frustration. The second man was almost a foot shorter, slightly overweight and his balding hair was beginning to go grey at the sides. The years which had passed had not been kind to him, and if they couldn't stop the child before she was much older, the future wouldn't be any kinder. He rammed his hands nervously into his pockets, things were not looking good for him at all.

"Do you understand the gravity of your situation now?" the priest asked slowly. The child was a monster, a demon born of Hell and it must be stopped at all costs. Now was not the time for sugar coated words or delaying tactics, something had to be done.

"I've suspected something was wrong with Evangeline for a very long time now," the man replied.

"Her little display at the church had me quite worried, I was prepared to do this alone but with your assistance things should go much smoother. We need to make a move before the child receives too many lessons from that demon and becomes any stronger. Ideally we would strike tonight, but I understand that this is a delicate issue which requires more planning," the priest explained.

"No, we need to kill her now," the other man said. "You saw what a simple temper tantrum could do! If we leave it too late, or she or that demon suspects something is wrong we could both end up dead while she is free to walk the earth. Who knows what she could do, who she would kill for that demon. I understand that what we are going to do is risky, but the greater risk belongs to the destructive potential that Evangeline holds."

"Tonight is too soon!" the priest argued. "There are many things which need to be planned, there are processes which need to be followed, and certain things need to be done. This isn't a simple exorcism like you see in the movies! The child is half demon, if we exorcise her then I suspect that there will be nothing left but an empty shell. Demon's souls are so damaged that she would barely be able to function. That means that we will have to kill her and dispose of the body in a thorough manner. It has to be hidden somewhere where it will never be found. We also have to think about a realistic cover story, though I doubt anyone will be in a position to cast doubt upon either of us, alibis are still important. An associate of mine is on the police force, once Evangeline is put to rest we will contact him and help him to direct an investigation into her disappearance. She is a pretty young girl, it shouldn't be too hard to pin this on a drug addict, make it look like a kidnapping gone wrong. All of these things need to be though through before we even contemplate making a move. You said yourself how strong she is with a simple temper tantrum, if she suspects anything we will be dead before either of us could blink. I need your word that you won't make any move against her tonight, do I have it?" the priest asked.

The second man nodded slowly, "yes, you have my word," he said with a sigh.

"Good," the priest replied. "Now I want you to take this," he said holding out a bag bound in leather from inside of one of the pockets of his robes. "It is called a hexbag and it allows us to remain hidden from demons. When we make our strike I want you to have this on you at all times. The child will not be able to sense you coming, nor will the demon be able to find you once you have incapacitated the child."

The second man took a tight hold of the hexbag, this was the only thing which would save him if anything were to go wrong. It was absurd, if the priest had come to him even a month ago, he would have laughed in the man's face. Now he was openly discussing killing a twelve year old girl and wondering how best to dispose of her body. If he hadn't seen the signs for himself, seen the things which she could do when she thought that no one was watching, he would never have believed a word the priest was speaking. Evangeline was pure evil and she needed to be stopped at all costs.

"Another important thing which you need to know is that the child is protected by a hound of hell," the priest stated. "This is something which we cannot afford to overlook."

"How do you know that?" the other man asked.

"These glasses have been scorched by holy fire, it allows me to see such damnable beasts," he said holding up his glasses to the light. He reached into his other pocket and pulled out a second pair of glasses, "these have been scorched by holy fire as well. Keep them safe, when we make our move against the child you will first need to incapacitate the hell hound. A simple circle of salt around the beast should suffice."

"The Vatican really sets you lot up with everything don't they?"

The priest let out a sigh, "not so much nowadays, even though they are men of God, they do not officially believe in demons in the physical sense anymore. I am not as well funded as I would have been if this had happened a couple of hundred years ago."

"Could have just burnt her at the stake though," he said with a slight smirk adorning his face.

The priest shot the other man a dark look, "I suppose, but that is meant for witches rather than Antichrists. Like I said earlier, there are certain methods of dealing with different kinds of threats from evil."
"Right."

A somewhat awkward silence descended on the pair.

"I have your number, I will call you when everything has been planned and organised. Until then I think it would be best if we were not seen together. It may cause some suspicion," the priest said.

"Alright," the other man agreed, barely able to contain the sigh for escaping his lips.

"You're not having doubts are you?"

"Never. I just want this over with."

"It will be done soon enough. Now I suggest you go about your day as you normally would, don't do anything out of the ordinary." With those final words the priest turned his back on the other man and made his way across the park. The man he had chosen to work with was causing him great doubt, but he need this man's assistance in order to make everything run smoothly. The child, Evangeline, needed to be destroyed and they would be the ones to do it.

Thank you to everyone who has left me a review or added this story to their alerts / favourites.

Any guesses as to who the second man is?
