Bo stretched out on the bed like a cat, reaching her arm across to feel the opposite side of the bed. Her face fell in disappointment when she realized that the sheets were cold. Her hand closed around a note written in Lauren's perfect handwriting.

Good morning Bo, I've gone to morning training

I love you

Lauren.

Bo traced the words gently, Lauren was avoiding her again. She knew that training was an important part of Lauren's life and right now Bo felt like Lauren would rather be anywhere than with her.

Kenzi burst through the door eyes blazing, high on her fourth cup of coffee.

"BO!" Kenzi stopped short realizing her strange best friend appeared to be staring moodily at a piece of paper.

"Hey Kenz" Bo said without looking up

"What's up Bo Bo, why you being all sad and depressing"

"I think Laurens ignoring me"

"Really cause from what I heard last night I would say she is doing a terrible job" Kenzi winked at Bo, her room was very close to theirs, and the walls were by no means sound proof. The things Kenzi had overheard….

"I don't mean ignoring me like that. She's always gone to 'training' when I wake up and when she gets back she's all worked up and sweaty and well" Bo's eyes glazed over just thinking of Lauren after she came back from training all riled up.

"And you guys go at it like bunnies?" Kenzi supplied helpfully.

"Well yeah. But I can't help it Kenzi! She's so beautiful and her aura is delicious" Bo smirked at the look on Kenzi's face.

"Hey don't knock it until you've tried it" Bo's smile fell just slightly "But don't try it cause Lauren is off limits" Kenzi held up her hands in exasperation

"Yeah Bo cause banging the doc is so on my bucket list" Kenzi said sarcasm dripping off of every word.

"Sorry Kenz, I know you're not into Lauren like that. I just find her so irresistible how can everyone else not?"

"She loves you ya silly succubus"

"I know Kenz, and I love her more than anything…."

"But?"

"But the longer we stay here the more obvious it gets. Kenz I don't think she trusts me"

….

"Would you care to explain this Lauren" Matthias questioned, gesturing to the training room. The room was a wreck.

"Now I know you have more control than some fae I know who are hundreds of years old so what's going on"

"I'm sorry Matthias I'll fix it"

"Don't worry about the room Lauren just tell me what is bothering you" Lauren paced nervously

"I've been avoiding Bo"

"Why?" Matthias was curious the last time he had seen Lauren with Bo they had been so wrapped up in each other he was surprised that they even noticed he was there

"She keeps asking questions" Matthias merely raised his eyebrows

"Of course she's allowed to ask questions but she's asking about my past and I…. I can't give her the answers she wants."

"She loves you Lauren"

"I know that! And I love her with all that I am. But what happens when she learns about the past she'll do something impulsive in an attempt to protect me and she's going to get herself killed!"

"Lauren sit down" Matthias said as gently as he could resting her hand cautiously on Laurens shoulder to dispel the surging power he felt in the room.

"What if she looks at me differently?"

"Her feelings will not change for you once she knows the truth."

"How could they not. I've been keeping yet another secret from her. You don't know Bo she's loyal to a fault. She would try and fix things, meddle in places where she doesn't understand. She wouldn't understand…."

"Wouldn't understand what Lauren?" His heart was breaking from the expression he saw. He cared deeply for Lauren and to see her this upset hurt a part of him that had been dormant for many years

"She doesn't understand that I was a slave to them" Lauren whispered despairingly "That I broke their rules and to them I deserved what happened"

"NO!" Matthias roared

Lauren glanced up shocked at the vehemence in Matthias's voice.

"You are not to blame for that! Many mistakes have weighed down this clan and THAT, that dear one" Matthias continued more calmly "will forever be this clan's burden to bare, but not yours Lauren, never yours"

"Whose fault is it then Matthias?" Lauren asked desperately, staring morosely at the wall. Matthias turned away so Lauren wouldn't recognize the guilt shinning in his eyes.

"That dear one is an excellent question" He replied too softly for her to hear.

"You need to talk to Bo, discuss what is bothering both of you before you tear the house apart." Lauren felt guilty for a moment until she read the mirth in his eyes

"You're right as usually Matthias, thank you" He nodded watching as Lauren strode out of the room.

"Good luck dear one" He called after her, wishing her all the happiness that she deserved.

….

Katherine watched curiously as Kenzi devoured all the food on the counter. How a human was able to consume so much so quickly was astounding.

Bo entered the room in a huff. Flopping herself down onto a chair.

"Kenzi I think we should take that case. I doesn't look like Lauren's going to be done training any time soon and I'm going crazy" Kenzi nodded knowing her friend well enough to know that this was only the beginning of a Bo rant.

"I mean how much training do you really need? It's Lauren she seemed pretty in control to me. Don't you think so?" Katherine looked like she was going to answer but stopped at the subtle shake of Kenzi's head.

"She just, why won't she…. Why won't she just talk to me?" Bo dropped her head into her hands

"Maybe I could talk to her Bo" Katherine offered noticing that Kenzi had stopped eating to stare incredulously at her.

"NO! I mean thank you for your hospitality but I can talk to my own girlfriend without your help" Bo spat stalking from the kitchen. Katherine just started after the retreating succubus.

"What was that?"

"That you poor, poor fool was a jealous succubus." Kenzi replied around the large bite of sandwich.

"Jealous of me? But there's no need I only think of Lauren as a good friend'

"And for your sake I hope that's true"

"It is" Katherine growled angry at the insinuation

"Good"

"Good" Katherine got a glint in her eyes. Unable to let the comment lie

"But why is it for 'my sake?' What would your little succubus do to me?" Kenzi stood up momentarily putting down her food

"I've learned a long time ago that bad things happen to those who get in the way of Bo and the Doc. They might be crazy, and have problems communicating, but they will hurt you if you try to come between them.

"I'm not afraid of a succubus"

"How bout a territorial succubus and a powerful elemental? Because if you attack Bo, Lauren will destroy you." Kenzi turned to go, leaving Katherine to stew over the words they had shared. Was she right? Would Lauren destroy them all to save Bo?

….

"Bo?" Lauren questioned walking into their room

"Are you here" Lauren paused taking in the bag that was half way to being packed sitting on the bed. Bo appeared from the bathroom arms full of lotions

"Lauren"

"Are you leaving" Lauren asked softly surprising herself when her voice didn't break

"Yeah I am" Bo looked almost guilty

"Why?"

"I umm I'm going stir crazy here Lauren. I need a case to solve, something to do. I need some time away from this place"

"You mean you need some time away from me?" Lauren asked folding her arms across her chest.

"Lauren" Bo sighed, fiddling with the bag in her arms "I need something that's not just sitting here waiting for you to remember that I exist"

"I know that you exist Bo!" Lauren said exasperated, feeling nervous at the look of loss skirting across Bo's face.

"Do you Lauren? Then why won't you trust me"

"I do trust you Bo" Lauren moved towards her girlfriend only to come to a screaming halt when Bo took a simultaneous step back. Lauren looked down feeling the sting of rejection from someone she loved so much. Bo gulped forcing herself to ignore Laurens hurt. She couldn't give in, if she did they would only end up in this exact same situation in a couple days.

"Why won't you tell me about your past with them? Why won't you let me in?"

"It's complicated Bo, you don't understand."

"Lauren I love you please just let me in! Please tell me what's going on!"

"Bo I…. I can't, not yet. I'm sorry" Lauren stated brokenly folding her arms across her chest as if it would protect her from the sadness that was radiating off of Bo.

"And I can't stay here Lauren, not like this" Bo swung her bag onto her shoulder turning towards the door pausing to get one last look at the woman she loved so much.

"Ill….I'll call you later" Bo said sadly continuing on her way out the door.

Lauren sobbed quietly finally understanding what her secrets were doing to her relationship. They were slowly destroying her. She didn't notice the floating furniture or the sporadic temperature. The only thing she saw was the empty side of the bed which Bo used to occupy.

"What am I going to do now?"

….

"You asked to see me Ash" Lauren spoke her eyes trained obediently at the floor.

"Yes Lauren it has come to my attention that you have been going against my wishes" The Ash walked out from behind his desk to slowly walk around Lauren, like a hunter stalking its prey.

"I don't know what you're referring to Sir"

"Oh I think you do child. Did you really think you could help those poor little sick elementals and I wouldn't notice? Hmm? Did you think that you were so trusted as to escape my notice? Now I'm disappointed in you. I thought of all my pets you would be the last to betray me and yet here we are. What are we do to with you Lauren?"

Lauren stared resolutely at the floor ignoring his taunts. The Ash grabbed Lauren's throat lifting her up off of the floor.

"I asked you a question slave" He spat, refusing to release his hold on her.

"I don't know sir" Lauren choked out. The Ash released her watching impassively as she gasped for air.

"Ahh pet I think we both know the punishment for your disobedience. Death seems fitting doesn't it? You try to save them from dying only to meet the same fate yourself. An ironic turn of fate wouldn't you agree doctor" The Ash yanked Lauren to her feet

"I said wouldn't you agree" He growled

"Yes" Lauren said tiredly, resigned to her fate. Her only regret was not being able to save those that she was looking after.

"Take her to the dungeons" He tossed her carelessly towards the guards by the door smiling as they hauled her away. He leaned back in his chair smiling at his sudden turn of good fortune.

Katherine was desperate, he finally had the leader of the elementals right where he wanted her. Oh the beauty of desperation he thought. She would be forced to deal with him, and she had no idea what she was about to walk into, no idea at all.

.

Bo stared at the house in her rear view mirror. Kenzi sat in the passenger seat watching fascinated as Bo made faces at the mirror.

"Bo Bo not to break up this weird connection you have with the rear view mirror but at one point is the car actually going to start and you know…. move?"

"I don't think I can do it Kenzi"

"Start the car?"

"Leave her" Bo kept her eyes trained on the door as if willing Lauren to appear in front of them

"Bo you wanted this, you said you needed to get out to do a case. Besides you told me you guys were fine just needed a little breather"

"Yeah but now she's there all alone with those people and Katherine" Bo's face twisted up at her name

"Lauren is super doc these days. She's going to be fine, you guys are going to get through this Bo. You're going to get some air and before ya realize it you and the doc's are gonna be happy bunnies again. Being all sick and cute"

"Am I doing the right thing Kenz?"

"Bo you know I love you and I'll support you no matter what you do. But this, this is something you have to decide all on your own."

Bo stared for another minute at the closed doors. Taking a deep calming breathe and praying that she wasn't about to drive away from the best thing in her life. Bo turned the key that had been sitting in the ignition. The car roared to life, pulling away from the house and down the drive way. The lone figure at the window turned away letting the curtain fall back where it was, as they slowly made their way back to their now empty room.
