I am so bad updating but happy new year! I'm hope this new year means I update more often. Sorry it's so short but I do have other things going on at the moment because of university.
Chapter 7
Jamie had to admit riding in the sleigh might have been one of the most exhilarating things he had ever experienced, even though North's power had slightly diminished over the years. He still had enough power to control the reindeer for a couple of hours before they would want to run away. The couple of hours time limit was quite good because he wasn't sure of how much time they had.
The young boy looked over at Jack who was eyeing the scenery constantly and he looked forlorn and lost. Not wanting to see his best friend sad, Jamie scooted over to him and nudged him.
"I bet she can sort everything out!" He said happily. He wanted Jack to smile or laugh. This human Jack, he wasn't used to, he wasn't the Jack that Jamie knew.
Much to his surprise, Jack just sighed. "I guess but what if she can't Jamie? The wish bringer didn't trick me, I actually wanted to go back to my family…I was feeling left out. What happens if she can't? Do I go back home to my family? I don't exist in this world perhaps it's my only chance."
Jamie looked at Jack as if he had just grown two extra heads.
"You're joking! Jack, what's wrong with you? This world isn't right, I remember you! I'm your first believer, you can't let me down! We're going to find the wish bringer and sort everything out. Stop acting like this Jack!" Jamie shouted, trying to get his best friend back to normal. Of course it didn't do much considering. Jack just shook his head and turned his back on Jamie. The two of them stayed quiet for the rest of the journey.
Jack knew Jamie was right but he couldn't help but feel defeated, all these human emotions were overwhelming. When he was a spirit, he could push them deep down and pretend that he was fine. However this human body betrayed him. He didn't want to showcase all the emotion but he couldn't help it. He mulled over this new world, the world where he didn't exist. The guardians were losing and Pitch was winning and then he knew he had no choice, he had to do it to save the world. He was important to the Guardians and he was important to Jamie. His destiny was always going to be Jack Frost and there was no taking that away from him.
Once the journey was over, North landed the sleigh at a forest in the middle of the U.S. Jack looked around but all he could see were trees.
"Where are we?" He asked in confusion.
"This is where Father Time resides, the trip is a short five minute walk from here. Bunny and I shall accompany."
Jack nodded and then turned to Jamie who was eyeing the forest as well.
"Jamie, I hope she will too. We need this. The world need this, now come on let's go." He held his hand out towards him and Jamie took it. They followed North and Bunny through the trees and Jack was quite surprised when all of a sudden a building appeared in a small clearing. It looked like a normal house which also astounded Jack. The only thing slightly strange about was the giant clock in the middle. The hands were golden and it was constantly ticking.
North knocked on the door and it opened to reveal Father Time. Jack swallowed down a gulp. So it was going to be the scary father then.
Father Time looked over at Jack and frowned.
"So this timeline has come true then, you four better come in." He moved out of the way and Jack walked in. The inside of the house was definitely not normal. There were clocks everywhere on the wall, constantly ticking and if he lived here, they would have drove Jack crazy.
On the floor were old dusty books everywhere and in the middle was a large comfy sofa. Father Time sat down as everyone stood in the clutter.
"This teenager says that in a different world, Pitch doesn't reign supreme," North began but Father Time cut him off.
"Yes I am aware North. I can see multiple timelines and it was always going to come to this. This timeline shouldn't exist but it's thanks to the wish bringer." He looked over at Jack.
"I assume you want to see Jera? She will be able to help you sort this out although I don't know if you will able to stop Aven from finding Pitch Black but you should try." Father Time said and looked over at some stairs that Jack hadn't seen before. "Jera, will you please come down?" He asked.
As soon as Father Time had asked, Jera came skirting down the stairs and looked at Jack and the others with a smile. "So this timeline happened then, gotta say you look quite cute as a human Jack." She winked at him and Jack just stared.
"Well I assume you want to get sent back to the time when you were supposed to die to stop Aven from meeting Pitch Black, so come on let's go on with it."
Just as she was preparing to send Jamie and Jack back, black sand erupted through the house causing the books to spread around the room in a small twister.
"I don't know how but Pitch has found us!" Bunny roared off the noise.
Just at that moment Pitch materialised and laughed.
"Well, well. We have believers here and one of them is teenager! How interesting!" Pitch laughed.
Jack felt bile rising in his throat. "Shut up Pitch, you're not supposed to be here!"
Pitch gave him a funny look. "Now how would you know my name boy? Especially when you're not very important."
"Why would I tell you that?" Jack retailed getting into a stance to fight, momentarily forgetting that he was human.
"Oh you've definitely caught my attention now." Pitch smirked.
Jack was about to charge until he felt a small hand drag him away. It was Jamie.
"Jack you can't! You're human! We need to get out of here!" Jamie cried pulling Jack out of the house. Bunny and North began to fight Pitch whilst Father Time tried to help as he looked at his daughter,
"You have to go with them Jera! Go and send them back! Stop this from happening!"
Jera nodded as she took one last look at her father and ran out of the house tearing after Jamie and Jack. It didn't take her long to catch them up and they left the fading sounds of the battle in the background.
They all began to pant as they stopped.
"Jack, Jamie. Are you ready?" She asked.
Jack nodded and watched as she began to mumble something.
"I'm going to send you back a few days before you died, Jack. You have to make sure you die, and you also have to make sure that Aven doesn't find Pitch Black."
Jack looked at her and the massive task before him. He didn't know if he was going to be able to do it.
"And what if I can't do all that?"
Jera shook her head. "I don't know but it will be disastrous if you don't succeed."
That was the last thing he heard before he and Jamie were sent plummeting through time.
Both of them landed with a groan in the snow.
"Jamie are you alright?" Jack called standing up and brushing the snow off him. He let out a cold shiver and was grateful for the shoes on his feet.
"I think so!" Jamie chirped standing up and running over to him.
"I am getting so sick of all this time travel." Jack muttered, for once he would just like to stay in one timeline!
"I think it's fun!" Jamie said with a smile.
It made Jack laugh. "Not when you've lived through all the ages, I pretty know what to expect."
"So now what do we do Jack?" Jamie asked.
Jack swallowed as he realised what he would have to do. "First we find Aven, send him somewhere with his family and second…you remember how I became Jack Frost, don't you?"
Jamie nodded. A grim expression forming on his face.
"Second, I die."
