THE ROGUE
Chapter 6: The Wolverine
Note: Just FYI, I skip around a lot in this chapter so we can get to the present part of it for Logan! ENJOY!
Things had been going well for me once I figured out a little more of myself. I'm not just an animal and Mariko has shown me that. She's like my own angel that I get to hold onto. She's beautiful, she is.
My angel…my Mariko.
Today was the day. The Wolverine, the man with no chance of getting married was actually getting married. He stood before a priest, a beautiful woman by his side with a bright smile. Many men were jealous of him for getting a woman like Mariko to love him. Besides that, he also got the blessing from her father, telling Logan that he had been a great fighter and could protect his daughter.
So there they stood, getting married. "Do you, Logan Howlett, take Yashida Mariko to be your awfully wedded wife?"
Logan gave a curt nod. "I do,"
Soon the wedding ended with Logan kissing his wife on the lips, marking her in his own way. The party afterwards was small yet beautiful, and they got pictures with apple blossoms. Mariko stood proudly by his side and Logan knew he needed her like he hadn't needed someone since….since Marie.
Their wedding night was another thing of amazement. 5 weeks later, they found out they were pregnant and Logan couldn't help but feel….needed. He was needed by his family.
He stood beside Mariko as she got a scan of the baby and Logan felt proud. She had just hit her 5th month mark at the time and they were seeing if they could find out the sex. "Now Mrs. and Mr. Howlett, do you wish to know the gender?" The nurse asked.
Mariko and Logan nodded at the same time. "Yes please," Mariko pleaded.
The nurse nodded and began to work hard on finding the gender. Once found, she smiled. "Congrats, you're having a baby girl!"
Logan grinned as he ran his fingers through Mariko's hair as he relaxed. A little baby girl. He felt real good knowing he was having a baby girl with his wife. He couldn't bring himself to frown or anything. Once they returned home, Logan began to kiss Mariko happily and she returned. They went to their room to shower one another in love and happiness, knowing they were going to have a baby girl.
Months later, Logan had returned home from a hard working day when he noticed the door was hanging open and his fear set in. "Mariko?" He called as he rushed forward, "MARIKO!?" He shouted as he looked around for his wife. He scented her out and soon found her with pale skin and she looked weak. "Mariko, Mariko? Honey please…" He begged.
She opened her eyes to look at him. "L-Logan?" she whimpered.
"I'm here baby, I'm here." He whispered, holding her close.
"I-I'm dying…" Mariko whispered and his heart shattered. "Please— save me…"
Logan frowned as he held her close. "What—"
"Kill me," Mariko whispered as she tried to catch her breath. "H-He poisoned me…"
He couldn't do it. Not after Jean. "I can't…."
"Please Logan…." Mariko begged her husband. "I-I-I need you to…"
Logan gave her a soft nod as he leaned down to kiss her forehead. "I love ya Mariko…"
"I-I love you too…."
Logan took one last look at her belly, knowing their child was too weak to live as it was over a month before the due date and closed his eyes, his claws coming out and then he stabbed her in the chest. "I'm sorry…I'm so sorry…"
For the first time in a long time, Logan cried.
~ooOoo~
3 months later
"What is it Chuck? Marie? She okay?" the Wolverine grunted into the phone he always carried on him though never bothered to use. It had been months since Mariko's and his daughter's deaths but he couldn't bring himself to do much other than fight.
"She isn't fine, Wolverine." Charles replied into the phone, as Wolverine stopped his drinking. "The voices within her head have been hurting her…she's losing control Logan. I don't know if she's going to live or die or anything and we're all worried. She only wants to see you Logan, please."
He wasn't sure why he could even get to his feet. "I-I'll be there,"
"Thank you,"
Logan hung up and thought about Marie. He couldn't bring himself to do much other than think of Mariko and their daughter. He still carried their pictures, one of Mariko and him on their wedding day and one of the baby's. He wasn't sure what he was going to do once he got back to the school.
Somehow, he had found himself back in Canada like he had before. He ended up actually at the bar he had found Marie by and his eyes seemed to harden. Marie needed him, just like Mariko did. Just like Jean did as well.
Every woman he loved died.
However, he got up off his lazy ass and began to head out. He was going to get back to the school and he was going to see Marie. He had to. She needed him just as much as he needed her.
Besides, she was of age now anyway. She was his true mate.
But it's only been 3 months, bub.
Marie…ready for us. Marie, don't screw it up.
What if she hates us?
Marie won't hate us.
Logan didn't bother fighting the Wolverine who was set on finding their "mate" but Logan, the human part, couldn't bring himself to. He couldn't hurt Mariko like that. He shook the thoughts away because he knew better than to fight the Wolverine.
Besides that, Logan was in control. He was going to be there for what Marie needed or wanted. And wasn't she dating the Ice prick?
Marie only loves us.
That isn't true. She loves the Iceprick.
Even the Wolverine couldn't fight against that. Still, Logan went to get his bike and head home, to the school. Marie needed him.
Review!
Up Next: Logan returns home to find a completely different Marie. She's losing it completely and ends up doing something she didn't mean to.
