Chapter Six
"Aunt Paige what just happened?" Chris frantically asked, apparently he wasn't fond of me trying to kill him.
"I said I didn't know," Paige snapped before quickly apologizing. She ran a nervous hand though her hair, something I did often.
"I saw red," I offered, hoping it might help, "I've always had a temper but I really wanted to kill Chris and I don't know why." Paige sighed and yelled for her sisters.
"We'll figure this out," She promised me. Almost a minute later we were joined by my newfound Aunts and Leo. Paige quickly explained everything to them and I took a seat on the couch, suddenly feeling light headed.
"Sweetie are you okay," Phoebe asked and took a seat down next to me.
I shook my head and laughed a little bit, "I've wanted to kill people before, but never like that." Phoebe nodded but didn't say anything. I didn't know if she wanted to give me space or she just didn't know what to say. I looked over to where my mom was talking with Piper and Leo.
"What are they talking about?" I asked Phoebe.
"Who your dad is," Phoebe answered, "He could be a demon and that might me why this happened."
My dad? A demon? "Is that even possible?"
"What do you mean?"
"Am I allowed to be part witch, whitlighter, and demon? Doesn't that go against some sort of magical code."
"Well I don't know about going against a magical code, but as far as I know it's never happened." I pulled my knees up to my chest and continued to watch them talk. Leo soon left to get something from down stairs and Piper went ever to the book. Paige stood motionless for a few seconds before walking over to me.
"Can I take you somewhere to talk?" She asked and I found myself nodding. Standing up she grabbed my arm and we disappeared in orbs. We reappeared seconds later on top of- holy shit.
"Is this the Golden Gate Bridge?" I asked in disbelief, thankful I wasn't afraid of heights. Paige nodded and stayed silent for a few seconds.
"Piper and Leo think that we can do a spell to summon your dad."
"You don't sound too happy."
Paige gave a small laugh, "Honestly I'm not even sure if he's alive. We got together after my parents died, I was 17. It was just supposed to be a onetime thing, but then I found out I was pregnant and we decided to try and make it work."
"And how did that go?"
"Surprisingly well, we fell in love. I got accepted to Berkley and everything seemed perfect. I thought we were going to be together forever, but when you were about two months old he just disappeared. Didn't call, didn't take any of his stuff, and didn't come back. It was devastating and I was a mess. I tried, I really tried to raise you on my own, you have to know that, but I couldn't do it. I was studying to become a social worker and was neglecting my own child so I did the only responsible thing I could think of."
"You put me up for adoption," I supplied, almost bitterly.
"Jade," She pleaded, "I did what I thought was best for you."
I sighed, "But what about your sisters, couldn't they have helped." I was just trying to understand why she got rid of me.
"I didn't find my sisters until I was 24 and my parents were dead. I didn't really have any support or family outside of your father."
"What was his name?"
"Charlie Sayre." I sat down, at least now I had a name. Charlie was nice. Everything that had happened in the last 24 hours seemed so surreal. Paige looked up and seemed to be listening to something.
"What's going on," I asked.
"My sisters are calling, we should go." Paige grabbed my hand and we orbed to the manor.
"We found a spell," Piper said.
"Really?"
"Well kind of, we had to change some things but it should still work," Phoebe explained.
"If you and Jade do the ritual together it should work perfectly." They want me to perform a spell? I can't even do the stupid orb thing on command, how the hell was I supposed to perform a spell?
"Jade, sweetie, calm down," Phoebe said, "You'll do fine." I absently nodded. Sure I would, after I screwed everything up. I followed Paige to where they had set up the ritual thing.
"Okay so we'll say the spell together and then add our blood into the cauldron." I nodded. Honestly as much as I'd like to claim otherwise I don't really remember anything about eh ritual or the spell, only the fact that my hands wouldn't stop shaking. What if this Charlie guy was worse than my now dead father? Would that make me appreciate my dad more? Would his death hurt more? But what if this Charlie guy was better? Is it right to just move on so quickly to another 'dad'? Doesn't that make me an awful person? Okay scratch that last question. I am an awful person. The prick of the knife brought me out of my thoughts and I watched, fascinated, as the blood dripped into the bowl. Looking expectantly at Paige I waited for something to happen. It seemed like hour before anything happened, when in reality it was only seconds. Bright white lights circled each other until they formed a man. He was tall with surprisingly pale skin, jet black hair, and piercing blue eyes. Stubble covered his face and neck and he was dressed in what looked like rags. His posture was tensed as he scanned the room, his eyes falling on my mom.
"Paige?" He asked in disbelief.
"Charlie," She breathed.
