Chapter Seven
Broken Glass
Victoria Vega would never forget that Tuesday, a week after Vega saw her girlfriend throw up in the school bathroom.
Jadelyn West strolled into Hollywood Arts that day, seeming as if she didn't have a care in the world. She smirked and walked up to her preppy girlfriend and scared her by hugging her. Tori jumped, not realizing that Jade had arrived. "Hey Vega." The Goth girl whispered in her ear.
Tori laughed and shook her head as she kissed Jade's cheek. "Hey Jerk," Tori replied as she shut her locker. She turned to face Jade, and got met with a very private kiss in a very public place.
"You wouldn't have me any other way." Jade joked when she pulled away.
Tori laughed again and grabbed her girlfriend's hand and they began walking off to class. Jade ignored Beck Oliver's glare, but Tori didn't. She hadn't forgotten that she needed to talk to him; she was just afraid to. What if she found out something she didn't want to know?
As usual, Jade got lost in her artistic work. Once she got started, it was as if she was on a whole new planet. Tori noticed that even before they had started dating and she loved that about Jade-yes, loved.
Tori smiled as she stood in the library doorway before lunch. Jade sat in front of a computer, typing furiously as she created yet another horror movie script. At some point during that period she had moved the long sleeves of her shirt up past her elbow, which shocked Tori. She had never seen West's arms in all the time that they had been dating-which was what? Two weeks? More? Tori Vega never thought about it, but now that she had, she couldn't remember the last time she had seen the other girl's arms, as weird as that was. Jade just always wore long sleeves.
Tori shook it off and walked up to the older girl. She hugged her and rest her head on Jade's shoulder. Jade rolled her eyes and started to save her project. "Dork." She muttered at her girlfriend. Tori simply laughed as Jade got up. As she did she started to roll her sleeves down, but as she started to roll her right one down, Tori's eyes widened and she grabbed Jade's had to stop her. There were… bruises? On the West girl's arm. Tori looked up at Jade with a shocked look on her face but before she could say anything, Jade cut her off. "Don't." Jadelyn snapped, pulling her arm out of Tori's grip and rolled her sleeve down. She started walking off, reaching the doorway in a matter of seconds.
"Jade!" Tori called out after her, but the other girl ignored her. Tori ran out of the library and pulled the girl to a stop in the thankfully empty hallway, careful not to touch the bruises. "Explain."
"It's not important." Jade snapped, talking harshly to the younger Vega. Tori hadn't seen this side of West since they had started dating.
"Yes it is." Tori snapped back, but her voice had too much worry in it to be harsh.
"I'm going to lunch." Jade said, walking off before her girlfriend could see the tears threatening to fall.
Tori stood there, shocked. 'I thought Jade trusted me…' She thought to herself. 'Well, if she won't tell me… I know someone who will.'
Tori quickly realized she should of thought of a better plan, but it was too late. She knew that ever since the breakup Beck left for lunch and came back afterwards. She decided to corner him when he came back. As she saw his car pull up, she became terrified that it wouldn't work. But, much to her surprise, it did.
Beck walked by the small alley, clueless, but Tori pulled him in before he could get a word out.
"What the- Tori?!" Beck asked, shocked.
"Sorry…" Victoria muttered. "I had to get you to talk to me."
"No. No way." Beck snapped. "I'm not-"
"Shut up. Whatever is going on with Jade, don't you think I have a right to know?" Tori said, sounding not like herself at all. She was so used to simply trying to keep the peace. If someone wanted to keep a secret, sure let them. But this was the first time she had ever felt so deeply in love with someone, and it seemed like a big secret. She had to know.
Beck sighed, running his hand through his hair. "I promised…"
"You also promised to never hurt her." Tori replied in a low voice.
"Well, she deserved it! What, am I supposed to go out with a dying gi-?!" Beck stopped himself, shocked. "Oh no…"
"A… A dying girl…?"
Author's Note: I had sadly lost the inspiration to write, but now it's back stronger than ever. Of course, as soon as it is, my computer breaks. Of course. I'm writing from my mom's computer, so updates can't be guaranteed. I'm sorry. I'll update as soon as I can.
I hope you've enjoyed this chapter. I personally can't understand why someone would break up with another because they have cancer, but it happens.
Jade has bruises from the shots. Leukemia makes people more prone to get bruises.
I got a review that was only three words, but it broke my heart. It was "Oh, god. Jade." I gasped when I read it. Thanks FlorMorada, for summing up everything in three words.
And thanks to everyone who reviewed the last chapter: FlorMorada, Jay aka Jordan, Joylinda, sarah999999, Kaycie232, ThatRandomAsian, LovezObsessed. From now on I'm going to tribute everyone who reviews the chapter.
Sorry about the cliffie.
Until Next Time,
Phantom
