Blood is thicker than water

Chapter 7: Chunin Exams Part 3

Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto

After a unexpected hour long rest, the remaining twenty-one genin return to the final stage of the chunin exams.

However when Naruto and the others had arrived they were surprised to see more people than expected. Each jounin sensei of each team stood beside the Hokage. After receiving a speech from Hayate Gekko regarding the rules for the preliminary rounds.

When the screen above the group activated it shuffled through random names until it stopped at two.

Sasuki Uchiha vs Yoroi Akado

'Right off the bat I see, perfect.' Sasuki thought a smirk proudly on her lips, however it dropped when the familiar pain of the cruse mark evaded her neck. Grabbing her shoulder she gritted her teeth as the pain spread around her neck and shoulder.

"I hope you're ready Uchiha." Yoroi stated as he began making his way towards the center of the arena as the other genin walked up the stairs leaving the two to fight. Kakashi stopped when he reached Sasuki.

"Sasuki, that mark of yours feeds of your chakra, don't use your sharingan. If it goes out of control, I will have no choice but to intervene and stop the fight. Anyway good luck." Kakashi walked away finding Naruto and Sakura he waited for the fight to begin.

"I don't care if you're from a powerful clan or not, you're going to lose here." Yorio spoke getting into a fighting stance making Sasuki roll her eyes.

"Are both fighters ready?" Hayate asked receiving a nod from both Sasuki and Yoroi.

"Begin."

As soon as the fight begun Yoroi went through several hand seals as he ran towards Sasuki, his hands began to glow blue.

When Yoroi finally got close enough he went to strike Sasuki, he reared his glowing hand back, attempting to strike the raven-haired female with it. However Sasuki managed to dodge the attack. Sasuki had time to deliver a blow to his torso sending him staggering backwards.

He looked up just in time to duck under a fairly powerful kick directed towards his face. Jumping back he didn't waste any time, grabbing ahold of her foot Yoroi send her to the ground.

His glowing hand grabbing onto her face. Her eyes widened when Sasuki finally realized why he was trying to catch her so baldy, he was stealing her chakra. Her hands lifted up grabbing ahold of his arm.

"Haha, your finished brat." Yoroi laughed watching Sasuki squirm under his grip. Sasuki could feel her eyes began to feel heavy, her chakra was fading and quickly. Finding her strength she kneed Yoroi in the stomach sending him back. Standing up on shaky legs she barely had time to dodge a series of punches, tripping over herself when he hand touched her hair.

'Damn, i'm almost completely out of chakra. Another hit like that and I'll be finished.' Sasuki thought as she jumped back, doing her best to evade the hits while trying to find an opening herself. Her eyes locked onto his chakra covered hand, she smirked. Twisting her body she grabbed his shoulders pulling him down. His chin colliding with her knee sending him into the air.

The crowd watched with wide eyes as Sasuki disappeared, vanishing before the naked eye. Reappearing behind Yoroi her finger poked his back making him look in shock.

"You're finished." Her body went rigid as the searing pain came back. The curse mark on her shoulder began to move, red marking slowly began making their way up her face.

On the side Naruto's eyes narrowed looking at the marks. 'So this is the power of the curse mark?' He thought.

Kakashi also had his lone eye narrowed. 'Is this as far as she goes?'

Sasuki's fists clenched, her eyes slamming shut. 'No, I can't let this thing take control. No way."

Her eyes opened, the markings began receding. Pushing her fingers back into Yoroi's back, she kicked her leg around only for it to be blocked. Spinning she kicked her other leg around, finally landing as his body plummeted to the floor.

"Get back here!" Grabbing his arm, her leg slammed down on his stomach.

"LINO'S BARAGE!"

The force of the attack created a small crater around the unconscious boy. Sasuki skitted away, the smallest of smiles on her lips.

Hayate walked over to Yoroi, he was finished.

"The winner is Sasuki Uchiha."

Following the fight Sasuki was taken to the hospital due to chakra exhaustion while the next pair fought. The sound girl Kin and team ten's Shikamaru, the winner being Shikamaru, much to his displeasure. The fight was followed by Temari and Tenten, the winner being Temari, by a long shot that is. Next was Sakura and Ino which ended with a double knock out making it so neither girl moved on to the finals. Shino and Zaku followed, Shino winning by having his bugs clog up the air holes in Doku's arms. The last fight was Neji Hyuuga and Hinata Hyuuga, it was the most brutal fights they had seen yet. If not for jounin ninja stepping in Hinata would sure be dead. Currently the remaining genin were Naruto, Garra, Lee, Chouji, Dosu, and Kiba.

Each genin and sensei watched patiently for the next names to show on the screen.

Kiba Inuzuka vs Naruto Uchiha

Kiba and Naruto made their way down the stairs towards the arena.

"Are you both ready?" Hayate asked once both boys stood in front of one another.

"Yes."

"Hell yeah."

"Alright, you may begin." Hayate spoke taking a few steps back as Naruto and Kiba got ready.

"You should quit now, Naruto cause i'm gonna wipe the floor with you." Kiba yelled receiving a bark from Akamaru.

Before Naruto could say anything Kiba cut him off.

"Geez, your attitude really annoys me so shut up."

Naruto raised an eyebrow. "But I haven't even done anything yet Kiba."

Kiba growled at him. "Oh yeah well your just annoying." He yelled making Naruto's sweat drop.

"Let's just fight." Naruto stated finally getting into a fighting stance. Activating his sharingan he watched as Kiba and Akumaru rushed towards him. Naruto dodged all of the punches and kicks Kiba threw at him. Though he had to admit Kiba was much faster now, however his sharingan could see his movements almost perfectly. Watching in slow motion as each punch breezed past his body, moving out of the way of each kick.

Kiba jumped back, landing on all fours along with Akumaru.

'Those eyes of his might be a problem, well I guess we'll just have to be faster.' Turning his head Kiba smirked at Akumaru.

"Let's go with that move, Akumaru."

Two smoke bombs hit the ground around Naruto.

"FANG OVER FANG."

Two fast projectiles flew past him. Jumping up Naruto brought his hands up.

'Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu.' Naruto thought as a large fireball came from his mouth aming towards Kiba. Watching as the smoke cleared he could see both Kiba and Akumaru had become stationary.

'Well I didn't hit either of them, but at least the smoke cleared.' He thought landing back onto the floor. Pushing his foot into the ground he sprinted towards Kiba, not giving the boy enough time his sharingan had already looked onto Kiba's own slitted eyes.

Kiba's legs seemed to give out, falling onto the ground he stared up at Naruto, his eyes trembled.

"W-What did you do to me?" His voice shaky as he looked to his hands, the skin on his hands began melting off.

Up in the stands everyone looked in shock as Kiba sat frozen in the arena, his hands trembling while Naruto just stared down.

"What was that, Kakashi-sensei? What did Naruto-kun do?" Sakura spoke, removing her eyes from Kiba to her teacher who kept his eye on Naruto.

"Genjutsu, I never knew that Naruto had learned any, very surprising." Kakashi stated, his mask hiding a small smile, Naruto was full of surprises that was for sure. On the opposite side of the arena Garra stood with a smile on his face.

'Yes, he would be perfect.'

Back in the arena Hayate began making his way over to the pair.

"Sorry Kiba, but I have to get to the finals." Naruto stated, breaking the genjutsu from the boy, his body falling to the ground with a thud. A few medic-nins picked Kiba up caring him and Akumaru away from the arena.

"Winner is Naruto." Hayate spoke.

Once Kiba and Akumaru were taken out of the arena they moved to the next match, Rock Lee versus Garra. The fight between Neji and Hinata was nothing compared to their fight. Garra had almost killed Lee, while Lee had almost killed himself by using a forbidden jutsu. In conclusion Garra won the match, leaving Lee with a broken leg and broken arm. The preliminaries were completed by the fight between Chouji and Dosu, with Dosu winning.

The reaming participants now stood in front of Hayate and Anko who had just finished discussing what the final stage with be like.

"Each of you will be given one month to train as well as rest for the final rounds. Before you all leave we will be placing you each with another genin, which will be who you fight against. However since both Kabuto and his teammate left as well as the double knock out of Sasuke and Ino there happens to be a perfect number of you left. There will be four matches, please watch for who you will be going up against." Hayate spoke as the screen above showed the order of fights.

Neji vs Sasuki

Garra vs Naruto

Shikamaru vs Temari

Dosu vs Kankuro

Naruto kept a straight face, though on the inside he was glad that he was fighting Garra. Turning he could see from the corner of his eye Garra staring at him.

"Alright that concludes the preliminary rounds of the third stage."

Orochimaru stood alongside Kabuto at one of the old training grounds.

"I believe your Intel was correct Kabuto. Contact with the nine tails brat altered Sasuki's heart and mind. So much so that Naruto now holds a rather special place in her heart, though I don't think she knows it herself." Orochimaru stated watching as Kabuto sharpened his kunai.

"Either we have to take her away fast, or we must eliminate Naruto."

"Sorry, but that's not possible." Orochimaru and Kabuto quickly turned to see a lone figure standing a few meters away. The sannin's eyes narrowed when he saw the cloak the figure was wearing.

"I'm surprised that the Kurotama is interested in Sasuki. But then again she is an Uchiha." Kabuto looked back and forth between the two, something strange was going on.

"No, I want nothing to do with a weakling like her as she has nothing I want. Naruto is the one who we want." His stern voice slightly irritated with the conversational already.

Kabuto stood up, grabbing a scalpel he stepped towards the masked man.

"So there's more of you out there?" Kabuto asked readying to attack.

"That is correct." The masked man spoke.

Kabuto lunged toward the man, in the blink of an eye, the scalpel was grabbed, thrown to the ground, his collar grabbed, body lifted into the air and thrown into the trees like a rag doll.

"I don't have time for this, i'm here to give you a warning Orochimaru, if you interfere with this, I won't mind wiping a snake like you off this planet." He was now standing only inches away from Orochimaru, truth be told this group was not someone Orochimaru wanted to go up against.

"I wouldn't dare." Orochimaru spoke, keeping his eyes forward. "Naki."

The man's body went rigid, though it didn't last long before he began walking away.

The now named Naki appeared inside of the hideout, ten or so miles away from Konoha.

"How did it go?" Turning his head he saw a white haired man standing the main room of the building. Taking a breather, he raised his hand taking the wolf mask off his face revealing a pair of dark blue slim eyes, tan colored skin with a large scar covering his left cheek. His dark haired was cut short in the back, while the rest hung to his ears.

"Geez, give me a minute will you? I just got back." Naki spoke, glaring at the white haired man who stood in front of him. His cold eyes boring holes into the back of Naki's head making his spin around.

"Tatara! It went fine, I warned Orochimaru and his little accomplice without being spotted then I came back here." Naki yelled glaring at Tatara who just continued staring at him with the same look he always looked at him with. It made Naki want to rip his hair out then shove down Tatara's throat.

"You don't have to yell Naki, i'm right here." Tatara spoke calmly, his hands pushing out the wrinkles of his pure white cloak, which made a tick mark appear in Naki's forehead, what was it with him and that cloak, he was either cleaning it daily or he was rubbing out the non-existent wrinkles.

"Oh have you gotten word from squad One, along with the rest of your squad?" The tick mark turned into a sweat drop, Tatara might just be one of the strangest guys he knows.

"Yes. Squad One will be meeting with us at the location point, I also received notice from Aomine saying that they will be ready for our attack." Tatara nodded, turning around he walked out of the large room to get the others together.

Naki turned the opposite way, walking towards his room.

'Naruto Uchiha, I hope I get the chance to see you face to face, it will truly be a privilege to meet 'his' grandson.'

"Naruto, I was looking for you."

Looking up Naruto saw Kakashi staring down at him.

"Sensei, I thought we weren't meeting until noon, your early, that's strange." Kakashi gave an eye smile, setting his hand on Naruto's shoulder he pulled him the other direction.

"Yeah, I decided it would be best for us to start now."

After a short walk Kakashi and Naruto stood in the center of training field three.

"Alright, first things first I want you to take one of these." Kakashi's hand disappeared behind his back, then reappearing with a small piece of paper.

"Take this and ably chakra, I want to see what your affinity is so we'll know what you can learn." Naruto nodded grabbing ahold of the paper he held it in his face.

"If it slices, you have wind, if it turns to dirt you have earth, if it becomes soggy you have water, if it crinkles you have lightning and we already know you have fire but if it turns to ash that means you have fire. So go head." Looking down to the paper Naruto began applying chakra.

Kakashi's eye widened.

'No way.'

The paper sectioned off into three parts, the left sight instantly became soggy, while the middle crinkled up, and the left of coarse turned to ash.

'How in the world? I've never seen a genin have three affinities let alone such strong ones. His water affinity is almost as strong as the Nidaime Hokage, but Naruto isn't even related to him. His fire is just as strong as any full blooded Uchiha, and the lightning, it may be even stronger than my own.' Kakashi thought, his eyes still wide while he stared at the paper in his student's hand.' Saying Kakashi was shocked was an understatement.

Naruto stared up at his teacher who just kept his eye locked to the paper. "Sensei? What does this mean? Why are you looking at me like that?"

Kakashi looked up at Naruto, giving him a smile. "Well Naruto, this means we're going to have a lot of fun while we train."

Sasuki sat in her hospital bed, her eyes glaring at the opposite wall. Earlier that day Kakashi had taken and placed another seal over the curse mark so she had to spend the day recovering. She had also been told that since Kakashi was going to be training with Naruto she was getting her own temporary teacher.

Her head turned when she heard the door open.

Her eyebrow raised when she saw who it was.

Anko stood at the door, one hand resting on her hip while the other rested on the door frame. "You ready to start training, Gaki?"

Time Skip: One Month Later

Cheers were heard all throughout the large arena which would be holding the final round of the chunin exams. Many ninja from all over the elemental nations sat in the stands, leaders of villages as well as the Hokage sat in that stands too. Jounin sensei's, academy students and other ninja waited for the battles to begin. In the center of attention was Genma Shiranui, the new protcer of the final stage. In front of him stood six of the eight genin.

"Has anyone seen Dosu or Naruto?" Looking to the group Genma sighed when each genin shook their heads. Sasuki looked around the stadium, where was Naruto, luckily he wasn't first so he still had some time to make it, but then again what would you expect with Kakashi. Though she just so happened to be the first up.

Neji and Sasuki stood in front of Genma, the stadium around them began irrupting in cheers and shouts.

This was the fight between the great Hyuuga clan and the mighty Uchiha clan.

"You should forfeit now Uchiha, you're destined to lose against me." Neji spoke, his pale eyes glaring at Sasuki.

"You shouldn't underestimate me, Hyuuga. You haven't even seen my fight yet." Now that her curse mark was secured she had no problem showing her true strength.

"If the Uchiha clan is pathetic enough to get eliminated by its own clan member what does one girl stand against a superior clan?" Neji said getting into the signature Hyuuga clan fighting stance.

Gritting her teeth Sasuki continued glaring at Neji. "Can we fight already?"

Sighing Genma took a step back putting his signature senbon needle in his mouth.

"Let the first round begin!"

Neji dashed towards Sasuki, his byakugan activating simultaneously. Smiling Sasuki activated her sharingan, his movements visibly slowed down. Stepping out of the way of a punch Sasuki spun around kicking her foot out knocking Neji off his feet only for him to jump back.

Bringing her hands up Sasuki blew a large fireball at Neji. The crowd was thrilled when a vortex-like hemisphere covered Neji's body, the fireball seemed to bounce off the sphere disappearing in thin air.

In the stands Tenten smiled down at her teammate. "That's Neji's ultimate defense, Sasuki stands no chance going against that."

Back in the arena Sasuki grunted when Neji stood in front of her, unharmed.

"You see Sasuki, you have no chance of beating me. You're destined to-

Neji was cut off when a fist collided with his cheek sending him into the back wall.

"You may be right, the Uchiha clan is gone, however you still have to face me." Before Neji could get up, Sasuki's foot collided with his stomach.

"You're no prodigy." Flashbacks of her brother began traveling through her brain.

Her fist pulled back aiming for his face, only to be grabbed by his hand. Trying to pull her arm out of his grip, Neji just seemed to tighten his grip. In a split second his hand let go of her fist, his own fists aiming to punch her stomach. Right now was one of the times she was truly thankful for the sharingan. With those eyes of her's she managed to duck under a potential fatal blow.

Jumping back she grabbed a handful of shuriken, throwing them at Neji only to have each one blocked. Neji ran at her again, her sharingan locking onto his movements. Dodging each blow, she threw her won, however he dodged them too.

'Damn, if we keep this up, there will be no winner, I have to think of something.' Sasuki thought jumping over Neji, landing on his opposite site. Her hands balled into a fist, landing on Neji's back, she had finally landed another hit.

Grabbing a kunai, she spun it around her finger before throwing it at Neji who jumped out of the way of the projectile. Grabbing his own kunai he sprinted towards Sasuki, pulling another from her holder. Metal hit metal, as sparks went flying between the two. Her kunai flew into the air, seeking the opportunity she jumped up, her foot kicking the kunai sending it down slicing Neji's cheek.

As the fight went on, both ninja exchanging blow after blow, each becoming more exhausted as the fight continued.

'I need to finish this, and fast.' Sasuki thought to herself ducking under another punch. Thinking fast she grabbed his arm, pulling herself up her foot connected with the side of his face sending him back into the ground. Staring at Neji her sharingan eyes narrowed.

His unconscious body lay flat on the ground. Genma walked over pressing his fingers to Neji's throat.

"The winner is Sasuki Uchiha, we will now begin with round two."Genma spoke making Sasuki look to the cheering crowds.

"Will Naruto and Garra please come down?" He stated as a pair of medic ninja came into the arena taking Neji away.

Sasuki's eyes looked onto Garra's. 'So he's the one who fought with Lee? I hope Naruto can take him.'

Two puffs of smoke suddenly appeared next to the raven haired girl making her head turn, a small smirk on her face.

"You're late Naruto, Kakashi-sensei."

Naruto stood next to Kakashi, dressed in white quarter length pants and a navy blue long sleeve shirt, the Uchiha fan missing.

"Sorry weren't late, you won't believe the traffic." Kakashi spoke coolly giving Sasuki a thumbs up. Bending down slightly he gave Naruto an eye smile. "Don't forget what I told you, Naruto."

Naruto nodded turning his head he walked towards where Garra and Genma stood.

"Now, let's begin."

Naruto watched as Garra stared at him, a sadistic smile on his lips. It was just like he thought. His eyes closed slowly, he knew what was going on, through his month of training he finally got to have a chat with the nine tailed fox that was sealed within him, and it seems it was correct.

Sand began flowing from the large gourd which was strapped to his back. Ducking under what seemed like an appendage of sand.

"In a hurry? Well then I'll try to end this quickly." Naruto stated his eyes began to close, sand launched one again towards him.

Up in the stands rookie nine stared in shock at what was happening, in a few moments the fight had become far more intense then the latters.

Before it hit him Naruto disappeared, the crowd was in shock when Naruto reappeared behind Garra, penetrating the sand, his back pressed against Garra's.

"Let's go." His face turned to look at Garra's a set of pupil-less blue eyes locked onto a set of sharingan, three comma marks spun rapidly around a small black pupil shocking everyone. Naruto had obtained two fully matured sharingans.

His arm pushed out, nailing the back of Garra's head, cracking the sand armor that covered his body. As his body flew across the arena the sand moved to catch him only to be beaten by Naruto. Grabbing ahold of Garra, Naruto flung his body into the ground, more pieces of the armor began falling form his body.

Up in the stadium Guy looked in shock, he had become as fast if not faster than Lee without his weights, just what had Kakashi trained him with.

Turning to his rival, he could see the faint glimpse of a smile under his mask.

Back in the arena Naruto cracked his neck as he walked forward, towards Garra. Bending down naruto's sharingan eyes locked onto Garra's eyes

Mindscape

Garra looked around, the entire area was a light blue color, but wait wasn't he fighting? His eyes widned when Naruto appeared in front of him. Throwing a punch only for it to pass through Naruto.

"You're in a genjutsu, fighting is not an option. I just want to talk." Naruto stated making Garra freeze.

"You a jinchuriki, aren't you?"

Garra went rigid, his eyes widening.

"You don't have to answer, I already know. You hold the one tail, I hold the nine tailed. You don't need to speak, I just wanted to say a few things, I know about you little plan of attacking the leaf, but if you continue I'll kill you, right when you get out of this I'll kill you. You were hated weren't you? I was too. Just because you have that beaste in you doesn't mean you have to become on yourself."

The Genjutsu began to fade around the two jinchurikis.

End mindscape

Garra didn't waste time when his eyes open, he launched his sand towards Naruto. When the sand began to covered his body, Naruto exploded in a puff of smoke.

'A clone?'

Kakashi wore a proud smile on his face when the audible sound of birds screeching filled the stadium.

Naruto stood on the opposite side of the arena, his right hand raised, bright blue lightning covering it.

'Chidori.'

On the roof a group of ninja sat waiting patiently for their signal, one of them stood, a hand dropped pointing towards the fight.

"Let's go."

As Naruto dashed towards Garra who began to become surrounded by sand, when he got close enough his hand rammed into Garra, piercing his shoulder, the sand become useless. But before Naruto realized what was happening, a hand grabbed his neck, lifting him off the ground, the lightning on his hand fading away.

Hiruzen's eyes widened as well as many of the senor ninja and jounin.

Dressed in a white cloak a white haired man held Naruto in the air as maroon cloak figures jumped from the roof into the stands. Naruto's hands grabbed into the arm which held his neck, his eyes began to feel heavy, his body falling limp in the arms of the white haired man, and then everything went black.

This was the invasion of the kurotama.
