Hi there, my lovely readers.
I can't believe it has almost been three months since I last updated. I swear, I thought I had updated sooner but I guess I was wrong. My deepest apologizes for those who have been impatiently waiting for this update.
We're back in the present time again so you guys can say bye bye to Amarra and hello again to Amy.
I thank all of you who have reviewed and I promise those who were happy to read more about Amarra (and Mushu) that you will read much more of them in the future. I even think I will soon switch time for a while and remain writing about Amarra, giving Amy a break for a while. With her storyline I've hit a dead end and I've got a writer's block.
I won't make any promises over when I'll update again because honestly, I'm not sure when I will. I hope soon but I've one more chapter after this one that's finished and than I've hit the dead end I mentioned earlier. Again, I apologize.
I also apologize to those who find any grammar or spelling mistakes. My native tongue is not English and although I do my best to publish them errorless, I'm not perfect so there will be one or two. Maybe even more.
Anyway, enjoy the chapter and review or pm me to tell me what you think of this chapter. What did you like and what did you dislike and what would you perhaps like to know or read in a future chapter? Ideas are more then welcome because I've ran out of them and maybe when I read one of yours, I suddenly get a light bulb.
Again, enjoy the chapter and review and I hope I will see you all soon.

Lost And Never To Be Found
Chapter 6
Making Friends, Sort Of
The bell rang and the second it went, almost the entire class jumped up and the students didn't know how fast they had to grab their stuff and get out of the classroom.
Amy wasn't among them and just wondered if they really thought English was that bad. She just shrugged it off and looked at her notebook. Mr Waleton had been telling them about something but she had gotten bored and had started to draw things. It was an enormous garden and she had the strange feeling that she had seen it before. The big question was only where and when.
Letting out a sigh she stuffed her book and notebook in her bag, threw it over her shoulder and slowly made her way towards the door while glancing on her timetable. She had mathematics, one of her least favourite subjects.
When she looked up she came face to face with a guy. He had been standing in the door opening and seemed to wait for something. He was the typical good looking, and probably popular, guy who was a member of the football team.
"Hi," he greeted her when they came face to face. "You're Amy Reynes, aren't you? The new girl?"
"Yeah, that's me," answered Amy who wasn't happy to find out he had been waiting for her. She had deliberately taken her time to leave the class to avoid the stares and the people that wanted to talk to her just because she was the new girl.
The guy didn't seem to notice her dismay and held out his hand to her. "I'm Clark Thomason."
Amy eyed him with suspicion but shook his hand nonetheless. "Nice meeting you."
"The pleasure is all mine," grinned Clark while pulling his bag better over his shoulder. "So what's your next class?"
"Mathematics," answered Amy. "Classroom 7."
"Great," cheered Clark, causing Amy to crook an eyebrow. "I need to go that way too. I can show you."
She didn't like him, Amy decided while eyeing him. There was something about him that told her she couldn't trust him. But she rather didn't want to walk around with her map, looking like a complete idiot, so she shrugged. "Sure. Why not?"
It was just a onetime thing, right? It wasn't like he would show up now every time she needed to get to her next class just because he wanted to walk her.
Amy pulled her bag better over her shoulder and followed him out of the classroom and through the very crowded hallway towards her new destination. And because it was that crowded she was pushed more than once into him but he didn't seem to mind, she did.
"So where are you from?" wanted Clark to know.
"Eureka, California," answered Amy, pulling a face when she was pushed against him yet again.
"You're from California?" asked Clark, sounding interested. "What's it like there?"
"Warm and sunny."
"So how different is it, if you compare your home here to your home there?"
Amy's face darkened a little. "It's very different. Almost like day and night."
"But you like it here, right?"
Amy looked up at him and saw the hopeful look in his eyes. What was up with this guy? "I haven't exactly been around long enough to give you an answer on that question."
He seemed disappointed. Nonetheless he said: "I can imagine that. I guess I'll have to ask you again next week."
"You do that," muttered Amy, looking straight ahead in the hope to see the classroom where she had to be in.
Clark hadn't heard her and tried to keep the conversation going. "You sure look like the typical girl from California."
Amy rolled with her eyes. "Yeah, only without the blond hair."
"Ah, that's okay," laughed Clark. "We already have enough blondes walking around."
Amy didn't laugh and was very happy when she saw the big seven above a classroom. It was where she had to be.
"Well, that's my class. Thanks for walking me."
Clark smiled at her. "You're welcome. And who knows, maybe we will have a few more classes together."
Amy crooked an eyebrow. They had a class together? "Yeah, who knows?" she answered, trying to be polite. "Bye."
But before he was able to see bye himself she had already walked into the classroom and towards her Math teacher. Luckily he did know who she was and how everything worked with a new student.
With a wide and cheerful smile he introduced himself to her as Mr Ali, welcomed her to his Math class and explained to her his methods. After signing the list he pointed her to a seat, an empty table next to one of the windoww, and didn't make a fuss about her having to introduce herself to the class.
Amy made her way towards the seat and noticed that she had a good view on the courtyard from where she was going to sit. She also noticed a few people around her. There was a girl with short brown hair sitting in front of her and there was another girl with long blond hair sitting behind her.
The girl in front of her was talking to a tall, blond boy beside her who had a strong Brooklyn accent and the girl behind her was examining her nails. Or she had been examining them but when Amy took the seat in front of her, her eyes were immediately focussed on her.
It took her well counted two minutes before she poked with one of those nails in Amy's back to get her attention. "You're the new girl, aren't you?"
Amy turned around in her seat and looked at her. "Yeah."
The blond bimbo gave her a wide smile. "Finally a new face. Everything was getting, you know, so the same old, same old." Amy crooked an eyebrow but the girl seemed obvious to it. "Hey, you're from California, aren't you? I totally love California. It's so sunny and warm. My parents have a beach house there and we visit it like every summer." Amy's eyebrow went up some more. "I'm like so totally jealous that you lived there. For how long have you lived there?"
"My entire life."
"That's like totally cool. You're so lucky. It must be horrible to be doomed to this place now."
Amy snorted. "Oh, you've no idea."
The smile on the bimbo's face only widened. "You know, I like totally like you. You've got looks and style and I like the way you talk. I'm Vanessa." She held out her perfectly manicured hand. "Vanessa Hill."
Amy shook her hand carefully. "Amy."
"It's like so nice meeting you, Amy. I'm sure you and I are gonna be like totally superb friends." Amy had her doubts about that. "You've to come and sit with me and my girls during lunch."
Amy wanted to answer "Rather not" but got the strange feeling that if she refused Vanessa, the girl would make the rest of her time at this school a living hell. So she forced a smile on her face and answered: "Sounds great. Thanks for the invitation."
"You're like so totally welcome."
Their conversation was quickly ended when another bell went and the lesson started. Unfortunately after it was finished Amy couldn't escape from Vanessa who clung onto her arm by the first opportunity she got and dragged her out of the class and towards her next lesson. And on the way she told her about almost every single person who they passed.
Amy, who had hoped that she would be able to hide from Vanessa and her friends who would probably be just as dumb as her, was very disappointed when she saw that Vanessa was in the same class as she was in before lunch. So her little plan to eat outside on her own and escape the girl, was immediately ruined and she never got the chance to come up with a new one.
There was no escaping Vanessa when the bell rang and ended their Spanish lesson because the girl immediately clung onto Amy's arm again and dragged her towards the cafeteria and towards the table where all her friends were seated on.
With her included their little group existed out of five members: Vanessa, Kimberly, Beatrice, Julia and Stacy.
Kimberly Bell was Vanessa's closest friend and the two could have been twin sisters because it was really creepy how much the two looked and acted alike. They had the same long blond hair, the same perfectly manicured hands, the same bright blue eyes and the same slim figures.
Why Beatrice Young was part of their little group was a mystery to Amy because the girl looked not like someone who would fit in the gang. She had a lot of piercing in her ears and two in her nose. She also had short spikey black hair and two dark brown eyes. She looked more like a gothic than a bimbo.
Julia Lloyd did fit in the group with her half long blond hair and light brown eyes and she was also the gossip girl of the five, even more than Kimberly and Vaenssa were because those two were "gifted" in that too. It wasn't for nothing that she wanted to become a journalist and worked for the school paper. She already knew almost everything about Amy before they had even been properly introduced and within five minutes she had told the new girl her entire life story and her biggest dreams.
And then there was Stacy Wood, another member of the group about who Amy wondered. She had straight brown hair and two friendly light brown eyes that were hidden behind two big round glasses. She was the sweetest of them and she introduced herself to Amy in a soft voice as she was a little shy, before asking her how her day had been so far.
Amy had immediately taken a seat beside her and after Stacy got over her shyness, the two got quickly engaged in a conversation.
"Don't mind them," smiled Stacy when she saw how Amy pulled an uncomfortable face upon hearing the boy talk in which Kimberly, Vanessa and Julia were lost. "It's like this all the time."
"How do you survive?" muttered Amy. Stacy chuckled and held up the book she had been reading before Vanessa had introduced Amy to the group. "Oh, I see."
Stacy smiled at her and started reading again. Amy took that moment to look around the cafeteria. It was the typical American High School cafeteria. There was a table for the cheerleaders, the Goths, the footballers, the nerds, the rich kids, the musicians and the acting group. And then there were tables for the people that didn't really fit any kind of label.
She recognized Clark who was, as she had suspected, sitting at the table reserved for the guys who were playing in Domino High's Football team. They were being typical guys and messing around and flirting with the cheerleaders that were sitting at a table close to theirs.
Amy recognized two more persons. The blonde guy and the brown haired girl from her Math class. They weren't sitting at a particular table and there were sitting two other students at their table: another boy with brown hair and a very small boy who caught Amy's interest.
There was something familiar about him. Very familiar. It was almost as if she had met him before and he was very important to her but she couldn't remember him even though every single inch of her body screamed that she should remember him. Who was he?
Amy turned her attention away and towards the reading girl beside her. "Stacy?"
The girl looked up from her book. "Yes?"
Amy pointed at the small boy. "Who is that?"
"That?" Stacy followed her finger and shrugged when she saw who she saw pointing at. "That's Yugi Moto," she answered with a tone as if it should have been obvious.
Amy, however, still looked confused. "Who?"
"Yugi Moto," repeated Stacy.
"Yugi Moto." Amy frowned. "I know him from somewhere but I can't quite place him. It's almost as if I've seen him before."
"You probably have. On television or on a billboard or in a magazine or something," was Stacy's reaction, her eyes focussing once more on her book.
Amy looked confused. "Why should I have seen him there?"
Stacy looked up and it was her turn to be surprised. "He's the King of Games." Amy still looked confused. "The Duel Monster Champion." No, still confused. "The holder of the Egyptian Godcards." Amy shook her head, still looking confused. "You don't know him?"
"No, it's not ringing any bell," answered Amy. "And I don't really pay much attention to the game. Honestly, I don't know anything about it."
"Keep it that way, sweetheart," cut Kimberly in. Apparently she had been listening in and she had decided to "honour" them by joining their conversation. "It's a waste of time and so childish. I can't believe that that ignorant little kid who got picked on for so long, is now famous because of it. It's just ridiculous."
"Pathetic is more the word," agreed Julia.
"Amy darling," said Vanessa, who also decided to join the conversation and who placed a hand on Amy's. "Do yourself like totally a huge favour and stay away from him and his pathetic and annoying little friends. And stay even further away from that ridiculous game." She patted Amy's hand. "Oh, and more thing, sugar. You like just totally made my day by telling me you like never heard of him before. People should like totally take an example out of you."
Amy had to fight very hard to keep her face straight because she was thinking at that moment that Vanessa had gone crazy.
"Oh, there's Johnny." Vanessa's attention was quickly caught by someone else and she pulled her hand back and waved with a delighted smile on her face at that person. "Joe hoe! Johnny darling! Be a doll and come here to give me a kiss, will ya?"
Amy rolled her eyes and ignored the five around her again. She looked back at the boy and saw that he was laughing with his friends. Clearly they were making fun of the blond boy because he was looking very indignant. She frowned slightly when she noticed that it looked like something was bothering the small boy and like he was worried about something.
And there was another thing that bothered her: she wanted to make sure that that worry disappeared. That he was happy and smiling. It was an instinct that was born just by looking at him and she had no idea where it had come from.
She tilted her head slightly, again noticing how familiar he looked. She was pretty sure she had never seen him before in her life, not even on television or in a magazine. Piper had always made sure that she didn't see or read anything that involved Duel Monsters at some point. So why did he look so familiar? Had they met before she had gotten amnesia, maybe while she had visited Marc in Domino City?
She chewed on her lower lip, still with her eyes focussed on the small boy. So familiar yet something was missing. What was missing and where did she know him from?
The first lesson Amy had after the lunch break was History. It was one of her favourite subjects and that had probably something to do with the fact that her mother was an archaeologist. The love for history was probably something she had inherited.
Stacy and Beatrice had that same class with her and were kind enough to walk with her to the classroom. The walk passed in silence as Stacy was still lost in her book, Beatrice was listening to her IPod and Amy was trying to remember where she had seen Yugi Moto before.
When they entered the classroom Beatrice immediately went to her seat and Stacy looked up her seat too but not before waving at Amy, who waved back while being on autopilot.
Her attention was namely drawn by someone else and that person was none other than the boy she was trying so desperately to remember: Yugi Moto. He was in her class as well, just like his blond friend who was also in her Math class. They were sitting behind each other, their tables placed next to the windows, and the blond guy was turned around in his seat and they were talking.
As if the small boy noticed her looking at him, he looked up and their eyes met. A blush immediately appeared on his cheeks and he quickly looked away and stared down at his table.
Amy frowned slightly, again trying to remember him, while walking towards the desk of her teacher. A woman this time. And upon introducing herself as Amy Reynes, Mrs Adams recognized her last name and immediately knew that she was the daughter of Piper Reynes. This made Amy wonder because she hadn't known her mom had been that famous.
Mrs Adams chitchatted an end away while signing the list and pointing her towards her seat, asking all kind of questions about her mom.
Amy was very happy when she was finally dismissed but her happy mood disappeared quite quickly when she noticed her new seat was directly beside the small boy.
He was staring at her just like every single other student present in the class and their eyes met again when she sat down beside him. The blush immediately returned and he quickly looked out of the window.
His blond friend had noticed the blush and had also noticed Amy looking at him and leaned towards the boy with a wide grin. He whispered something while his grin widened only more and whatever it was that he had said, it caused the boy's cheeks to turn to a whole new shade of red.
The bell went and the lesson started. Mrs Adams had quite a pleasant voice and talked an end away about the subject they were treating: the Civil War.
Amy tried really hard to pay attention but she had already finished the subject back in California and with a high grade too so she already knew most of the things that Mrs Adams was telling them. And the feeling that she should remember the boy beside her kept nagging at her mind.
She couldn't help but glance at him every once in a while and a few times she caught him looking at her too. He would always turn a bright shade of red before quickly looking away again.
The time seemed to pass almost twice as slow compared to her other lessons and the annoying push that she should remember was driving her crazy. So when the bell finally went, she didn't know how quickly she had to get out of the room.
She didn't even bother to stuff her book in her bag but just grabbed it and raced out of the room, forgetting completely that Stacy and Beatrice were also in her class and she should have probably waited for them.
Amy was already on different floor when she realised she had no idea what her next lesson was, nor where she had it. So with an annoyed sigh she hoisted her bag up and started to go through the mess in a desperate try to find her schedule and map. The result? Her bag falling on the floor and the entire contest spreading over the floor.
"Great," groaned Amy, sounding rather hopeless. She kneeled down and started to gather her stuff. "Just great." Someone else kneeled down beside her and picked something up too and held it out to her. "Thanks," she breathed out while glancing up. It was Clark. "Oh. Hi."
"Hey," he greeted back. "Bad luck?"
"Yeah." Amy looked down again to actually see what she was stuffing in her bag. "It's probably the new girl curse."
"I didn't know there was one."
Amy gave him a look. "Clearly you never have had contact with new girls on their first day."
"Nope. We don't get a lot of new people here."
"Hmm, I wonder why," thought Amy while stuffing a few notebooks into her bag again.
"So what's your next lesson?" wanted Clark to know.
"No clue. I ran out of the classroom as quickly as I could, so I forgot to look on my schedule. That was what I was trying to find when my bag fell and well, you see the result." He handed her the last book that was lying on the floor. "I believe I've Biology for two periods but I'm not sure." She took the book from him and went through her bag again. "There it is. Yes, Biology."
"Second floor, Room 10," told Clark her. Amy gave him a weird look. "That's the only classroom where they give Biology."
"Figures." She put her schedule back in her bag and hoisted it over her shoulder again. "So where are you heading to?"
"Outside. I'm expected at the gym."
"Ah. Sport." Amy rolled her eyes. "My favourite subject."
"Really? Mine too. Not that that is weird. It's just so much more fun to be outside then to be stuffed into some stuffy old classroom." Amy rolled her eyes again without him seeing it. Clearly this guy had never heard about being sarcastic before. "What's your favourite sport? Mine is football. But that's quite obvious as I'm the quarterback."
"I don't really have a favourite sport." Amy looked up at him and gave him a dry look. "Clark, I'm not trying to be mean or anything but that about sport being my favourite subject was meant sarcastic. I really don't like sports."
His face fell. "Oh."
"Look." Amy gave him an uncomfortable look while putting her arms over each other. "I've really got to go to my next class, okay?"
He looked slightly hurt. "Oh. Yeah. Sure."
"And you should too. You don't want to be late and neither do I." She gave him a slight wave. "Nice talking to you again."
"Yeah, bye."
Amy walked on and rubbed her arms while doing so. It was only her first day and it looked like she had already broken someone's heart. But getting a boyfriend was not really something she was looking for, especially not when that guy was the quarterback.
Stacy was kind enough to walk with Amy back to the administration office after the bell went, announcing that the last lessons were over and that the students were free to go home.
"Really, I don't know what they're fussing about but Vanessa, Kimberly and Julia were running around like chickens without their heads. Even more than usual. And they kept saying things about you and Clark Thomason."
Amy rolled with her eyes. "Let me guess, gossip says that we were spotted more than once talking to each other and that we now have a crush on one another."
Stacy gave her a small smile. "I don't really listen to the gossip but yeah, that's what I got from Vanessa, Kimberly and Julia."
Amy rubbed her forehead. "I was already afraid something like this was going to happen."
Stacy gawked at her. "So it's true? I really thought you were smarter than that..."
"No, it's not true," interrupted Amy. "At least not on my part. I believe I practically broke the guy's heart today. But no, I've no plans whatsoever that involve dating or liking him. Damn it all, I hardly know the guy and I've only seen him twice and he's already annoying the living daylight out of me."
They pushed the doors to the office open and came almost directly face to face with Yugi Moto. He and Amy stared at each other for a moment before Yugi turned red again and ran off as fast as he could without actually running.
"Whoa," wondered Stacy while the two girls looked after him. "What's gotten into him?"
"No idea," was Amy's answered, even though she had a pretty good idea. She looked slightly doubtful at the girl beside her. "I'm not that scary, am I?"
"You look like innocence itself," chuckled Stacy.
Amy snorted. "Right."
They walked into the office and Amy gave the list with all the signs on it to the stern looking lady. "But I couldn't help but notice something during history," went Stacy on.
"You saw me glancing at him every once in a while," beat Amy her to it,
"That was after I noticed that he kept looking at you. It was so obvious that I'm surprised I was the only one who noticed." The lady dismissed her and the two walked out of the office again. "But why were you looking at him? Do you like him?"
"What?" Amy gave Stacy a slightly disgusted look. "Have you lost your mind?!" Stacy chuckled. "No, I don't like him! I haven't even met the guy properly! Not to mention that he comes to here when he's standing in front of me." She placed her hand just a few inches above her cleavage. "So no thank you."
"But then what is it about him that made you keep looking at him?" wanted Stacy to know.
"I don't really know," answered Amy with a frown. "There's just something really familiar about him. It's almost as if I've seen him before and then I don't mean on the television or in some magazine, in real life. But I can't place it. And I keep having the feeling like something is missing." She let out a frustrated sigh. "I don't know. It's just a crazy feeling that I have and I can't let it go."
They walked out of the school. "You get those feelings more often?"
Amy gave her a look. "Oh, you've no idea."
"You know, Amy," said Stacy who was examining her with a frown. "There is something strange about you. I can't quite figure out what but I like it." She smiled. "And you're absolutely nothing like those stupid bimbo's. I was really afraid that you would be another one of them when Vanessa dragged you with her."
Amy couldn't help but laugh when she heard Stacy call them bimbo's. "You call them that too?"
"Huh-huh," nodded Stacy with a shrug and a smile. "Hard not to call them that, right?"
Amy looked slightly curious at her. "But if you don't like them and you think they're bimbo's, than why do you sit with them?"
"Oh, it's not on my own free will. I've been invited by Vanessa to sit with them just recently and you can't say now to Vanessa Hill. If you do she will make your life a living hell." Stacy shrugged. "I haven't figured out the why part yet and they haven't told me that either. I was always the bookworm at the back of the class and I didn't really have any friends." This time she smiled sadly. "You're looking at the new girl from two years ago."
Amy blinked and then smiled and locked her arm around Stacy, surprising her slightly. "I knew I liked you better for a reason," smiled Amy. "You're a lot nicer and a lot smarter. You just didn't fit in there and now I know why."
"It doesn't take a lot to be smarter than them," laughed Stacy.
"True," agreed Amy, also laughing.
When they were done laughing Stacy gave her a sad look though. "I've to tell you something, though. About why those bimbo's want to be friends with you."
Amy smiled. "Oh, I think I've already figured it out but please enlighten me."
"Well, there's the fact that they heard you arrived in a limousine this morning," started Stacy. "And then there's that you're the not too bad looking new girl. It makes you the shining new toy." Amy chuckled. "And then there's that you're Marc Reynes' daughter, meaning –"
"– I've money," finished Amy. "Or rather said, my dad has money."
Stacy smiled. "You really did figure it out."
Amy shrugged. "Their logic is not hard to figure out."
"And there's another thing," went Stacy on, this time looking serious again. "Vanessa is crazy about Clark. You probably know it's tradition for the quarterback and the cheer captain to hook up. But Clark strongly dislikes Vanessa so it's unlikely to happen."
"I wonder why he would dislike her," said Amy in a serious voice. "She's such a sweet girl."
Stacy laughed. "Good one."
"Thanks," smiled Amy.
"Anyway," continued Stacy. "He doesn't like her but he seems to like you quite a lot so Vanessa wants you to help her to get something with Clark and that's why she keeps you close. And if that doesn't work than she will make your life a living hell because if you can't have him, no one can."
"Lovely," was Amy's sarcastic reaction. "And I thought I already had enough reasons to think of her as a bitch."
"You'll get a lot more reasons. Trust me," smiled Stacy. Then her smiled faltered slightly. "What's all the fuss about?"
Amy followed her gaze and so a rather big crowd gathered around something black. She immediately picked out a familiar bolt head and realised what the fuss was about. "Oh, that would be my ride. My dad forced his driver to bring me to school and pick me up." She sighed annoyed. "Once and never again." She looked at Stacy and asked her, knowing her well that the other girl was on foot: "You want a ride?"
Stacy's eyes widened. "Really?"
Amy nodded. "Really. You're the only nice person I've met today."
For a moment she could have sworn that Stacy's eyes started to tear a little but the big smile on her face made her shrug it off. "Thank you. That would be great."
Amy smiled cheerfully. "Come on then. There's a mini bar in the back that is begging to be emptied."
