Another detention. I shuddered at the idea of what this teacher had in mind.
I had been separated from the rest of the class except for a few other witches that didn't know what their magical animal was.
Wait, I mean... a few other witches and I. I wasn't a witch.
Currently, we were being led down a hall to Lord Death knows where.
Soon, we arrived at a door that would've been normal, if you didn't hear all sorts of animal sounds. Cat? Bird? Some type of screaming noise which I suspected was a goat.
"This is the animal habitat area. I will let you in one by one. Pick the animal that you feel attracted to. If it lets you pick it up and carry you out here without killing you, that's your animal," The teacher said, motioning for everybody to form a line. What she said alerted me. If they could kill us, they probably aren't normal animals.
The first girl went in. She came out holding a chipmunk, she looked disappointed. This made me question what would I want? The second girl went in, seconds later, a scream is heard, but no one moves. After a couple of minutes, she walks out with a owl on her shoulder and three claw marks on her cheeks, making her look like a cat. She was grimacing but she still was stroking the owl's head. The animals seemed normal enough, but looks could be deceiving. It took and hour before it was my turn, but I was expecting longer.
The teacher nodded at me and opened the door. Inside, it look like a completely white room made of tile, but when I stepped inside I could tell that it was just magic blocking the interior. The real inside was almost too much for my brain to handle.
It was a bright rain forest, tropical probably, and it was... singing a song. The birds were singing, crickets buzzing, and everything else all were making a song in beat. The song was calming and sounded familiar. Though the song was beautiful, something told me that I had to continue. I pushed through the underbrush until I found myself standing in the arctic. I didn't have to look behind me to know that the rain forest had disappeared.
I continued forward, there was no sound. Not even the sound of my boots crunching in the snow. It was actually kind of peaceful, but in a disturbing sort of way. Polar bears and penguins were no where in sight, and I knew that if they were my animal, I would've found them by now. Finally, I ran out of land. Only the freezing ocean lay beyond. I took a deep breath then pencil dived into the ocean.
The water wasn't cold, it didn't feel like water at all, actually. It was magical, right out of a child's book. Coral and fish were just as brightly colored as the rain forest animals and I spun happily through the water. Even when I swam through the school of jellyfish, it didn't hurt. That is what tipped me off. Even though it was beautiful, it didn't call out out to me. I swam through a school of fish and found myself in a desert.
I stood and was about to dust myself off when I realized there was no sand on me. Just 25 snakes.
"Ack!" I yelped, whipping them off as fast as I could. I got 5 or so off, but the rest were coiled tightly. This probably wasn't where I was supposed to be either. To add to the snakes, a sandstorm was coming in fast, "Great..." I muttered.
When the sandstorm blew in, the snakes were blown off of me. This time I could feel it, but I could still push through it. Finally, I saw a light in front of me and I lunged for it.
For the first couples of seconds all I could see was white, but when my vision returned and I realized I was walking on clouds. The sun wasn't the normal laughing sun, it was bright yellow but you could still look at it without hurting your eyes.
'Whoosh'
My eyes widened as a bird flew right by my head, my hair blowing in front of me. This was the place.
I started walking, animals flying around me so many times I lost count, until I saw what I was looking for.
Ashes were littered on the ground directly under the sun. I bent down just in time to see them form into something. Suddenly, there was a bright flash and in the place of the ashes was a egg. This was my animal, and I knew it. The moment I grabbed the egg, everything went black.
Soul threw Kilik over his shoulder in a judo flip, winning the round.
"Good one, Soul, but you can't beat me!" Black Star laughed, clapping him on the back. Soul smiled back, but it was forced.
Stein and the Death weapons were training all the students, even the NOT students. Currently, they were doing one on one matches against other students.
After Patty knocked Jacqueline off her feet, Stein shouted, "We're moving on. Meisters come with me, weapons go with Azusa."
Immediately, the crowd split in half. Soul followed Azusa and the rest of the weapons towards one of the classrooms. They all crammed into the room.
"Okay, for today, all of the weapons in this room fight till only one is standing. No killing or transforming. All you have to do is knock one down five times. And don't try lying, I see everything..." Azusa said, then walked out of the room. The click of the lock was loud enough for everyone to hear.
First, no one moved. Then Thunder and Fire spun themselves into some random guy, knocking him down, and all hell broke loose.
'Snap'
I jolted awake, panting. I was on the floor outside of the animal room, my teacher was crouched down next to me, glaring.
"You sure took your time," She said impatiently.
"How long was I in there?" I asked.
"An hour."
We were both silent for a while till she said, "So did you find an animal?"
I lifted up my egg in response and she went silent, her eyes wide.
"What?" I asked innocently, honestly, my brain was fried so I didn't put the pieces together.
She grabbed my arm and started dragging me down the halls. Before I could ask where we were going, we were already there. I recolonized those ginormous doors. We were at Medusa's office.
The teacher knocked then said, "Medusa, you are going to want to see this!"
The door flew up, smashing into the teacher and sending her flying.
"Maka," She said with fake sweetness, "What are you doing here?"
In response, I lifted up the egg and her eyes widened slightly.
"A Phoenix."
Another chapter!
Did anyone guess that it was a Phoenix because of the ashes thing? I think I got everything factual, but if I got something wrong please tell me.
Sorry I didn't do more training at the DWMA, but I thought you guys should know what Maka's animals is. Does anyone have a guess about where she got her power from?
Bye~!
