Chapter 7: Less Frazzled

Kagome sighed a nervous sigh as she looked around the room she was in. The office was clean and organized in a comfortable way, with certificates and awards from the doctor the office belonged to. The young woman was twiddling her thumbs around, waiting for the man to return with her results. She took the home pregnancy test the day before, but still wanted to come in for the appointment she booked. Kagome hadn't told Inuyasha yet, and became more stressed at the thought of breaking the news to the man. How am I going to tell him? Do I wait it out or tell him immediately…? Kagome's mind was crowded with these thoughts as she sighed again. Just then, the door to the office opened and in stepped the doctor with a manila folder. The man was average height, with charcoal black hair and a thick-lensed bifocals. He was an older man, with years of experience emanating from the way he spoke.

"Hello Ms. Higurashi. I'm Iotawa Keiji. How are you doing this morning?" He greeted with a smile while closing the door behind him. "I'm fine, yourself?"

"Good. So Ms. Higurashi, I wanted to go over the test results with you," The man began as he took a seat behind his handcrafted dark oak desk. "Your tests came back positive. Would it be proper of me to offer a congratulations?" The older man asked.

"Um, I'm not sure…" Kagome answered truthfully.

"Ah, well, there are other options if you're not wanting to be a mother right now." The doctor professionally responded. He didn't seem to want to propose such a thing, but Kagome knew he was just doing his job in offering all options.

"No, I'm going to keep it." Kagome firmly responded. The doctor offered a gentle smile at that. "That's good Ms. Higurashi. In that case I can say congratulations!" The two lightly chuckled and the man continued. "You're almost in your second month in your first trimester, and everything looks good on our end. Are you experiencing any morning sickness?" He asked while opening the manila folder to take notes.

Kagome frowned at the mention of her frequent trips to the bathroom to empty her stomach. The trips were recurring more, and she opted for not showing up to this appointment because of that, but decided to come in to see if that was normal or not.

"I am. A lot actually. Whats normal for morning sickness?"

"Well, it depends on the person, honestly. Is the father a human, demon..?" The man asked in curiosity.

"He's half of both."

"Ah. I see. Well, do to you carrying a child that is part demon, you'll have a heightened sense of smell, more so than a human woman pregnant with a human child would have. So your morning sickness will be a bit more of a pain to experience, I must admit." The doctor answered while fixing his glasses and flipping to the next page of the folder.

"I'm part demon myself, and when my wife was pregnant, she would curse me every day," The man chuckled. He took a look at the young woman's face. She didn't seem too happy with the news that the morning sickness wouldn't lighten up anytime soon.

"You'll be fine, Ms. Higurashi." The old man assured from across his desk offering another gentle smile. "My daughter is about your age now, and let me tell you, it's a real treat watching your child grow up." He explained while pulling a few papers from the folder before closing it. "Here, this is a list of home remedies to deal with your sickness. I'm going to refer you to a few hospitals in the area, seeing as we are just a clinic." The man handed the packet to Kagome and stood up, walking back to the door and opening it.

"Thank you." Kagome smiled at the doctor as he shook her hand and held the door open for her. The two exchanged goodbyes and the doctor went off down the hall, and Kagome out the door of the clinic. The older doctor comforted her with his words in the office, and left the young woman feeling a bit more at ease about the whole situation. She sighed as she strolled down the street away from the clinic, more calm than when she entered.

"You what?!" A man roared as he ran a hand through his locks.

"I- um-" The woman began meekly before she was cut off again.

"You better be telling a fucking joke right now, woman." The angry hanyou yelled as he paced back and forth in his spacious, luxurious office. The door to the office opened and Sesshomaru stepped in, wearing a tailored grey suit with his hair neatly in a ponytail.

"Dammit Inuyasha, I can hear you yelling from across the fucking hallway. What are you whining about now?" The older man calmly asked his younger brother.

Inuyasha scoffed at his older brother, anger still in him. Today was his brothers first day back in the office in two weeks, and he waltzed into his office and demanded an answer of him?

"Fuck off, Sesshomaru." Inuyasha lashed out at the man, while adjusting his red tie. It complimented his black suit well.

"You better watch what you say to me you fucking half breed," The older man sneered. He knew his brother said what he wanted, but he went off the handle when he was angry, and lashed out at any and every one. Luckily, Sesshomaru had an attitude to match his brothers.

Inuyasha took a deep breath in and spoke, "This new hire lost the plan sheet we've been working on for the past six months." He calmly explained. Sesshomaru's eyes narrowed at the young woman wearing a blazer and pencil skirt. He waltzed over to the woman, his penetrating gaze never wavering. The woman was frozen in place as the man approached her. He hadn't said a word to her yet, but she was scared of him more than his brother who had just given her a tongue lashing.

"Whats your name." He demanded more than asked.

"Aizawa Yumiko." She instantly answered.

"Ms. Aizawa," The full demon began, "How did you lose the project?" He evenly asked the woman, his tone unwavering. The woman took a deep breath; this man was truly intimidating.

"It was an accident sir. I've been looking for hours for it but, there's so many documents to sift through, I think I put it in the shred pile that one of the interns took…" she admitted while lowering her head.

"That's ashame, Ms. Aizawa. I suggest you look again for that file. Your job depends on it."

"Yes sir. " The woman answered with widened eyes. She had really done it this time. Sesshomaru folded his arms, walked away from the woman, and to the door. He opened it and looked back at the woman.

"I'll be speaking to you later." He coldly answered, all the while holding the door open for the young woman. She walked towards the exit, with frazzled nerves as Sesshomaru closed the door behind her. Inuyasha raised an eyebrow at his older brother who took a seat on the comfortable leather couch that was off to the side of the large desk.

"That's it? What the fuck, Sesshomaru?"

"You're an idiot, little brother."

"The fuck did I do?" He angrily retorted while grabbing a bottled water from his mini fridge.

"Why would you hand off a multibillion dollar project like that?"

"She was supposed to scan it it and file it back."

"You're lucky that I had Myoga scan in those files beforehand and email them to me." Sesshomaru responded while catching the water bottle his brother tossed to him. A feeling of relief rushed over the hanyou as he took a sip of his water with a smirk.

"Keh. So why did let her go if you knew you already have the file?"

"Letting her think she's on the verge of being jobless is punishment in itself.." He easily answered while sipping the refreshing drink. Inuyasha raised his eyebrows, silently agreeing with his brothers methods before taking a sip of his water. The young man loosened his tie and kicked his feet up atop his desk, pulling out his phone in the same motion.

"Don't get comfortable, that proposal is due to the board in twenty minutes."

Inuyasha signed. He hated meeting with the board. The board consisted of ten men and three women. They had all worked side by side with Inutaisho and were now advisors for the young Taisho brothers. They scrutinized every decision the two made and it was a pain trying to come to a middle with them.

"You can go without me, Sesh, I believe in you." Inuyasha responded without looking up from his phone.

"Please," the older of the two scoffed. "I'm not walking into that alone."

"Aw, you need me to level you out, huh? That's sweet." Inuyasha poked fun at his brother.

"Shut the hell up half breed."

"Yeah yeah, whatever. Let's do this thing." Inuyasha responded while standing up and putting his phone in his pocket. He fixed his tie as well, and ran a hand through his silver hair. He was hoping this would end quickly, so that he could find comfort in a certain woman.

Later on that evening, Kagome was stepping out of the bathroom from a nice, hot shower. It was Friday, so the young woman could rest up over the weekend. She didn't bring any work home, because she was solely focusing on telling Inuyasha and her family about the baby. With a towel wrapped around her chest, the raven haired woman made her way to the kitchen to start a cup of tea. The doctor told her that hot tea can soothe her stomach and ease morning sickness, so Kagome had taken a cup to bed with her every night for the past two weeks. It took a while, but was working more and more each night.

At that moment, the young woman heard a noise down the hall. She listened for the noise again from the kitchen. It couldn't have been her roommate. Sango had stopped by earlier that day and quickly packed a few things in excitement. Miroku surprised her with a weekend at a romantic resort, she had been informed, before her best friend hugged her goodbye and left for the weekend.

Kagome listened for the noise again, while picking up her cup of tea. She figured something had fallen from a shelf in her room, or maybe she left the TV in the other room on a bit too loud. She walked in the room and stopped immediately at the sight.

This is weird. Why am I doing this? A silver haired man thought as he climbed to a window and peeked in. there wasn't anyone there, which was both disappointing and a relief. Inuyasha climbed in and examined the room he was in. He had stopped by Kagome's place like this to annoy her. He hadn't seen her in almost two months. Part of that was his fault, granted, but he needed her more than ever lately. He heard the shower running, but didn't hear anyone else. He smirked at that; he had chosen the right time to stop by. He remembered Miroku saying something about taking Sango out for the weekend. A feeling of excitement built up in the young man at the thought of having sex with Kagome since it had been a while.

Hopefully she's not pissed that I snuck into the point she'll kick me out. He thought while walking around the room. His eye caught a pamphlet that was on her nightstand titled 'Understanding Your Pregnancy' with a happy couple embraced, both of their hands caressing the woman's stomach. Inuyasha frowned at that before picking it up to look inside. Why does she have this? Maybe Sango left some work of hers in Kagome's room. Why would Sango leave work in here? Wait, Sango's a Pediatrician. Do pediatricians need stuff like this? Inuyasha thought as he stared at the booklet, his heart racing. He was so deep in thought that he didn't even hear the shower turn off, or the fact that the door to the room had opened. The only reason he had been broken out of his thoughts is because of the rapid heartbeat his sensitive ears had picked up from behind him. He slowly turned around, his heart beating as well.

"Inuyasha…how did- what are you doing here?" The towel clad woman mustered to ask.

"The window." He answered, the booklet feeling heavy in his hand. He tried to look Kagome in the eye, but she averted his golden eyes. "Kagome," Inuyasha started, taking a step to her. "Are you…pregnant?"

Kagome's eyes widened and he heard her heartbeat speed up. He had gotten his answer without her saying anything. Inuyasha stared blankly at her as she shook her head yes, tears on the brim of her eyes. The young man stood there not knowing what to say or do. For the first time in his life, he was stunned into silence.

"I didn't want you to find out like this." She said while wiping tears from her eyes and clutching the towel to her chest.

"How long have you known?"

"About two weeks." Inuyasha frowned at that. "Why didn't you tell me when you found out?" He asked, a bit hurt.

"I didn't know how, I was thinking of how I should tell you." Kagome sighed as she placed the cup on the stand next to her bed. She walked to the dresser drawer to grab a bra, panties, and some pajamas. Inuyasha took a seat on her bed in silence while she got dressed. Kagome was pregnant. They were having a child together. Inuyasha wanted kids but didn't think too much into it. Now, it was happening. An overwhelming feeling was becoming of the man as his head rested in the palms of his hands.

Kagome had finished getting dressed and was now sitting in the chair in her room. Inuyasha raised his head from his palms took a look at the other occupant of the room. He had come here for a completely different reason, and instead was faced with this.

"Did you skip a few of those birth control pills?" Inuyasha bluntly asked the woman. Kagome's face contorted to that of anger at the man's question.

"Fuck you Taisho. Do you think I want children right now? Of course I was taking the pill!" Kagome angrily answered. Inuyasha instantly regret the question after her response.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean for it to sound that way." He quickly recovered.

"There's no other way for it to sound. Were you wearing a condom every time?"

"Kagome, I said I'm sorry. I don't want to argue with you," He pleaded and watched as she folded her arms. "Can we talk about this?"

Kagome sat still in her chair, looking away from the soon-to-be -father. Fear had left her now, and anger replaced it.

Inuyasha carefully unfolded the woman's arms and took her hands. "I want to be there for you," He began. Kagome's anger dissipated immediately at that. She had no idea that how much those words would relieve weeks of built up stress. She looked the hanyou in his eyes and relaxed a bit more. "I'm kind of scared, Inuyasha."

"I am too! But honestly, we'll figure something out." He admitted with a small chuckle. Kagome offered a small smile, the anger completely gone. "I'm sorry for what I said. It was harsh."

"Don't worry about it." He answered while standing up and walking towards the door. "If you need anything, let me know." He gave her a final look before slowly closing the door.

"I have a doctor's appointment on Monday at Kageyama Hospital at 2, if you would like to go."

"Of course. I'll be there." The man answered with a soft smile and closed the door. Kagome took a seat on the edge of her bed. That had gone surprisingly well. He hadn't found out the way she wanted him to, but he wanted to be involved and she was grateful for that. Kagome grabbed her abandoned cup of tea that was cooling down. She took a sip and lightly rubbed her stomach. "Well little guy, it looks like your dad knows about you." Kagome spoke softly. "There's a few others who would like to know about you." She spoke again before laying down. The woman turned off the light that was situated on her nightstand next to her bed and began to drift off, a little less frazzled.
