The moment they were all inside and seated at the kitchen table, Danny began the interrogation. "Alright, Technus," he began, trying to be civil with one of his enemies for once. "Tell us what's going on."

The technopath seemed reluctant to start, taking a few moments where there was nothing but silence on his end. Finally sighing and cradling his head in his hands, he told them, "What Spectra says is true. With every source of technology that disappears in the human world, I grow weaker and weaker."

"How does that work, exactly? I mean, why does that happen?" Tucker questioned.

"I'm the Ghost of Technology. It is my domain, my... obsession. When a ghost's obsession is threatened in such a way, the ghost grows weaker. Undergrowth has grown weaker over the centuries due to deforestation. Nocturne has weakened slightly due to all the insomniacs in this modern age. It happens from time to time with other ghosts." Technus shook his head. "But for it to happen to me? If anything, I thought I'd grow stronger as the decades went on, as electrical technology continued to advance. But now these power outages have occurred, and I don't know if we can stop them."

"What do you know about the power outages?" Sam asked him.

Frowning, the ghost replied, "Disturbingly little. I can't seem to find what's causing them, much less how to remedy them."

"What about last Christmas where you turned the power back on? Can't you just do that again?" Danny wondered aloud.

"I've tried, but it doesn't work. Even if it did, I'm not about to use myself as a battery to recharge entire cities and their electrical appliances."

"Why not?" asked Jazz.

"Such a thing would drain me," he said. "And considering how things are going, I need all of the energy I can get right now." Turning to Danny, he said, "You were lucky I was willing to turn the power back on last Christmas."

"Now hold on. I find it hard to believe that entire cities are blacking out and there's no sign of what's causing it," said Tucker.

"Believe it, child. I've been trying to get to the bottom of this ever since this started two months ago."

"Wait, two months ago? This only started a few days ago," said Jazz.

"Maybe in your town, but worldwide, this has been going on far longer. It started out slow at first, but the blackouts have been growing more and more frequent in cities all over the globe," said Technus.

"And you're just now telling us this?" Sam asked, her arms crossed.

"What reason would I have to tell you children anything? Had I even approached you, you would have attacked, or tried to suck me into that thermos of yours."

He had a point.

"But I've been studying the reason why these blackouts are occurring for months now," Technus continued. "And nothing natural could have caused this."

"Well, what about something supernatural? You said you hadn't considered that it might be a ghost causing all of this," Jazz observed. It was a conclusion that Danny and his friends had drawn almost instantly. Whenever there was trouble in town, it was always of a ghostly nature. Why should this time be any different?

"But who would want to make the entire world lose power?" Tucker asked no one in particular.

"You mean aside from Spectra?" Danny asked. "She seemed pretty thrilled by the fact that people are so worked up over this."

"But how would Spectra have the means of causing such power outages?" Technus questioned.

"I don't know." Danny looked down at his steepled fingertips for a moment before looking back up at the technopath. "Is there any other ghost with your kind of powers? Someone who could be draining the electricity away?"

The ghost rose a brow. "Then you believe me when I say I have nothing to do with this?"

"For the time being, don't push your luck," Danny told him sternly. Furrowing his brow, he pointed out, "You didn't answer the question."

"Aside from you? I can't think of anyone."

The four teens were taken aback. "Danny? He's no technopath!" said Tucker.

"Oh really? Then how was he able to possess the computer in order to defeat me in Doomed?"

They didn't know how to respond to that. They'd never really viewed that as technopathy. They'd just chalked it up to Danny's ability to overshadow not just people, but seemingly objects as well.

"What... are you saying that I could be causing this?" Danny asked.

"I wasn't, but that sounds like a good idea, now that you mention it," said Technus.

Danny smacked his own forehead. He really had to stop planting ideas in the ghost's head.

"And why should we believe that it isn't you?" Sam asked the ghost with a skeptical look in her eye.

"We already talked about this," Jazz said, looking to Danny. "It's not him."

"Are you sure? How do you know?" Tucker asked.

"She's right. We're fairly certain it's not him. He hasn't been a huge braggart about it, for one thing," Danny told them.

Technus looked like he was offended by that, but he didn't get the chance to speak up before Sam did. "So let's say it's not Technus. Are we really going to consider that Danny might be behind this?"

Danny gaped at her. "What, you think I'm the bad guy?"

"I'm not saying you're the bad guy. I'm saying that this wouldn't be the first time that your powers have acted up on their own accord," Sam told him.

Danny took a moment to consider this. His ice powers had been beyond his control at first, manifesting at random intervals until he'd finally started freezing his surroundings against his will. But surely this wasn't the case now, right? If anything, electricity should be shooting out of his hands if that were the case. He shouldn't be draining things, right?

He didn't really want to think about the possibility of it being him, so he directed the conversation back to their earlier suspect. "What about Spectra? She could be doing this to feed off of people's misery." Especially Tucker's, he didn't have to elaborate.

"You'd think she would have shown up earlier, though," Jazz said thoughtfully.

"She might have been around for all we know. Who knows how many human forms she can take?" Sam pondered aloud.

"I've never seen her assume another form," offered Technus. "But it is possible, especially if she's growing stronger from feeding off of all the misery."

"So what do we do now? Spectra could be anywhere, and we don't exactly know where her door is," Tucker pointed out.

"She said she was working with Walker," Danny remembered. "If we go to his prison, we might find her there."

Technus gave him a look that suggested he thought he was insane. "You'd willingly walk into that place?"

"All I have to do is go in my human form," Danny told him. "He can't touch me if I do that."

"How interesting," mused the technopath.

At that moment, they heard the front door open and close, and were soon greeted with the sight of Maddie and Jack coming into the kitchen. For a moment, all was calm. That is, until Jack saw the green person sitting in his chair.

"GHOST!" he shouted, pulling out what looked like a bazooka (where had he even been keeping that?) he aimed it at Technus, but was quick to realize that the weapon would not work without a charge. Tossing the bazooka-like weapon aside, he looked about ready to pummel the ghost with his fists, and Technus looked like he was really to shock the large man across the room.

"Stop!" cried Danny, more out of concern for his father than concern for the ghost's safety. "It's alright."

"Have you gone bonkers, son? There's a ghost sitting there!"

"Jack, let Danny explain," said Maddie. While she hardly liked the ghost's presence herself, she was more level-headed than her husband, and if her son was insisting that they not fight, then surely there must be a reason.

"Thank you," Danny said to his mother. Clearing his throat, he said, "Mom, Dad, this is Technus."

Jack narrowed his eyes. "So you're the ghost who took over our house."

"He's not here to try that again. In fact, something tells me he can't with the power out," Jazz told them. Technus didn't bother to correct her. Technically he could still overshadow their house, but with the power being out, he couldn't really do anything with it once he had it.

"Why is he here, then?" Maddie asked cautiously.

"He's... helping? I guess? We're trying to find out who's responsible for the power outages," Danny informed them, glancing at Technus with an unsure expression in his eyes. Was Technus really helping? Or was he messing with them? Then again, what reason would he have to do that, if he was truly losing energy as he said? Surely he wanted the electricity to come back on as much as they did, if not more so.

Jack didn't seem convinced. Maddie herself seemed skeptical as well, but she was willing to trust her son's judgement. "If you say he's helping, I believe you," she said.

Technus seemed to relax slightly at this. The electricity at his fingertips died out, at least.

"Thank you," Danny said, both to his mother for trusting his instincts and to Technus for banishing the electricity he had not moments before been ready to shock someone with.

"We still don't know what our plan is," Sam said as Jack and Maddie took seats at the table. Jack sat down in an empty chair next to Technus, perhaps to ensure that the ghost didn't try anything, while Maddie took a seat next to Danny.

"I say we track down Spectra," said the halfa.

"But we don't even know if she's the one responsible," Jazz said.

"It makes sense, Jazz! People are miserable due to the power outage. Who else would benefit from that?"

"She did seem pretty happy with the circumstances," Sam observed. Flicking her eyes up to Technus, she added, "She also seemed pretty happy with the possibility of getting rid of you."

"Yeah. Is there something you're not telling us?" Tucker asked him.

The technopath shook his head. "Spectra and I have never had any strong animosity in the past. I don't know why she'd been so keen on getting rid of me now. Aside from having one less ghost to compete with and having my misery to feed off of."

"Compete with? What do you mean?" Maddie asked.

Technus shrugged. "The goals of different ghosts tend to get in the way of others' plans," he said by means of explanation. Looking to Danny, he said, "Your goals, for example, tend to make you the enemy of most ghosts you meet."

"What, you mean protecting the town?" the halfa asked.

Her eyes suddenly widening, Jazz, who was now looking out a window, said, "You might have to do that right about now."

Following her gaze, the others' eyes widened as they saw that the sky was filled with ghosts. But not just any ghosts. They were...

"GZPD," Technus said. Sighing angrily, he said, "It looks like Spectra called for reinforcements."
