Chapter 7
A/N: The ending is here at last. I hoped you have enjoyed it, and read one of my next stories.
"What do you mean someone has a stronger magic?" Emma asked. "I thought no one else had magic other than the people from here or the Enchanted forest."
"That was my assumption as well deary," Mr. Gold said. "But it appears that I was wrong about that. Either someone here is a traitor from our world or someone from other world has come to destroy us, that is, if they can see the city."
"So the city is invisible?" Mary Margaret said.
"Not yet. I also wanted a shield with it so if they manage to figure out we are here, we won't die or have to do whatever they plan to do to us," he explained. Belle, who was a bit farther away from the group, walked closer to Mr. Gold.
She wrapped her arm around his waist. "What's happening?"
"Not much."
"The city is going to be attacked by people with magic," Mary Margaret said the same time Rumpelstiltskin was talking. Rumpelstiltskin stared at Mary Margaret solemnly.
"Rump, how is the city being attacked my magical people 'not much'?" Belle asked.
"Because I have everything under control," he said. "Now, Emma and Regina, can I expect your help on the invisibility and shield-making for the town?" Regina and Emma made eye-contact, which was a case that usually never happened. The pair weren't 'best friends' or even friends, but for Henry, they knew they would do anything.
"Sure," they both said simultaneously.
Mr. Gold clasped his hands together. "Excellent. Now, I need the two of you to come with me as I need to show you what you need to do." As Regina and Emma kept eye contact, they nodded. Mr. Gold moved away from Belle, and walked towards his shop. Emma and Regina followed close behind him.
Once the trio left the group, Mary Margaret, David, Henry, and Belle looked at each other. "What should we do?" David asked.
"Well," Belle said. "If I know Mr. Gold well enough, I think that we all just need to wait." Everyone nodded in agreement. Henry walked over to Mary Margaret and David, and they all hugged, glad that they were all safe.
...
Mr. Gold, Emma, and Regina walked into Mr. Gold's shop. Emma looked around the shop like the first time she visited it. Everyone was scared of him at first, but now, everything was different. People have a change of heart when a person does things that they want them to do.
Mr. Gold walked over to the counter, and walked behind it. He walked into the back room. "What are you trying to find?" Regina asked.
Rumpelstiltskin ignored her as he continued to go deeper into the room. Emma walked around the familiar shop. Regina, who didn't need something to distract her, stayed in the same position she was, which was by the door.
A few minutes later, Mr. Gold brought out a different book from the one he brought out for the original potion. Mr. Gold blew at the book to remove all the dust from it. Luckily no one was in the way, or else they would have been covered in dust.
Regina walked over to Mr. Gold and peeked at the book he was holding. The book looked old, with the binding falling apart. When opened the book, the pages didn't have the same fresh look as it would if it was new. The colour was more of a golden cream than a cream colour. Rumpelstiltskin turned through the pages. "Will this take as long as the last one?" Regina asked.
He shook his head. "No. It just needs power from you and Ms. Swan, unlike from different ingredients to make it a potion. This isn't my potion book deary." Regina sneered at him as Emma walked towards the duo, dodging obstacles in the way. Once Emma got to the pair, she placed her elbows and forearms on the edge of the counter. She leaned into the book to get a better look as he moved the pages quickly.
It took about 10 minutes before he found the page he was looking for. He placed his finger on the page, and ran it down. Emma almost fell asleep waiting, shaking herself to wake her body up. She ran her tired eyes across the page. The words on the page weren't that complicated to follow, but her concentration level was too low to focus on the page. "What is it Gold?" Regina asked, glaring at him.
He tapped the page multiple times before walking out of the room. "I'll be back," he said sounding a bit more concern than he should. Emma looked at Regina. She looked more focus on the book than Mr. Gold's words.
"What is it Regina?" Emma said frustratingly, not caring how Regina felt at the moment.
Regina moved her eyes off the book and towards Emma. "It's a powerful spell. It's no wonder why Gold needed our help. Especially since the amount of power you have. Of course, it is not as high as myself, but still." Emma shook her head. She didn't need Regina praising herself. She just wanted this situation to be done and over with.
Rumpel came back with an object in the shape of a rock, but it had a redish colour to it. Regina looked at him confusedly. "What is that?"
"It's not a rock if you are thinking that," he said. "It is actually nothing. It has no mass, but it has a very high energy content in it."
"Then how are you able to hold it?" Emma asked, getting out of her leaning position to stand. Her legs cracked quietly, but Emma felt more comfortable after.
"I have a magical field around it so it won't escape. Let me just explain once we get to the centre of town." He started to walk away from the counter, along with Regina and Emma, but he stopped. Regina and Emma continued to walk until they reached the door. "Ms. Swan?" Emma turned around. "Can you carry the book. It's hard when you are holding this."
She nodded. "Ya, sure." Emma walked back to the counter, grabbed the book and walked back. Regina was already out the door when she exited the building. Once Emma exited the building, she held the door open for Mr. Gold. Henry, Mary Margaret, David, and Belle watched Regina and Emma. Mr. Gold slowly stepped out of the shop, and into the street. The four watched in amazement.
"What is that?" Henry asked.
"I'll answer that in a moment Henry," Emma replied as she let the door close behind Rumpelstiltskin. He led the way towards the centre of town. Everyone else followed behind him, moving at a slower pace than they wanted to move at.
After a lot of walking, everyone arrived at the centre of town. "Okay, Regina and Emma, I am going to place this down, and I need you two to stand at opposite sides from each other. You then need to use all the magic you got inside of you to hold this in place. Understand?" Regina walked around Mr. Gold, and stood across from Emma as instructed. Emma and Regina made eye-contact again.
"I suggest everyone stands back," Regina said. Everyone complied, and walked away backwards. They were all still able to see what was happening, but far enough so they were out of harm's reach.
"Do you want a countdown?" he asked, not sure if the two could be in sync.
Regina smiled. "I'm sure we are fine, right Swan?" Emma nodded, not in a lot of reassurance, but no one else had to know that.
"Okay. And... now!" He dropped the substance, and it fell to the ground. Regina immediately had caught the one side of the substance.
"Emma!" Regina yelled. Seconds later, Emma held the substance up with her powers. Mr. Gold hobbled away from the substance, and towards the rest of the bystanders. The substance seemed to get bigger, filling the air with a redish glow.
"We need to back up in sync!" Regina shouted. "Or else it could cause an explosion!" Emma took one step back before Regina finished her sentence. Luckily, Regina caught her actions, and took a step back. "I said in sync!"
"Sorry!" Emma yelled back. "Take two steps back!" They both took two steps back in sync, which was surprising to the crowd watching them. Slowly, they took two steps back at a time, until suddenly, the redish substance couldn't be held together by them anymore. It spread passed them, the crowd, and threw the town. Regina and Emma were on the ground. The crowd covered their eyes from the blinding light that passed them.
After a few seconds, they could open their eyes without being blinded. The air around them felt different though. Everyone looked up. The sky around them was red. People from Granny's diner and other buildings were filling the streets to look outside. The streets were loud in the confusion and moment.
Henry ran towards Emma and Regina on the ground. "Mom!" he yelled. He got down on his knees beside Emma and grabbed her hand for a moment. He could see the slow moments on her chest. Henry let her hand fall, and quickly got up to see Regina. He got on his knees beside her and grabbed her hand. There was a sudden squeeze on his hand. Henry smiled as Regina's eyes opened.
She smiled back at him. "Henry," she said. Regina planted her feet on the ground. Henry knew what she was trying to do, and stood up also, not letting go for her hand in case she would fall. Regina stood up. She let go of Henry's hand, and placed her hand on her shoulder.
"Are you okay?" Henry said.
She nodded slowly. "Fine." She applied pressure on his shoulder, which didn't convince Henry like Regina wanted. Mary Margaret and David ran over to Emma side, help Emma up since Henry had helped Regina.
"Are you alright Emma?" David asked, who wrapped his arm around Emma to give her support.
Emma nodded and whispered. "Yep." David and Emma walked slowly back to the crowd. Mary Margaret followed close behind them.
Regina wrapped her left arm around his shoulders to support her. "You should sit down," Henry stated. Regina nodded, not being able to answer. The pair walked slowly back towards everyone else.
As soon as they arrived at the curve in front of Mr. Gold's shop, Regina let go of Henry, and sat down, trying to focus on something. Emma was acting in a very similar way. She was farther away, closer to Mary Margaret and David. "I probably should have warned you about that," said Mr. Gold.
"Ya think?" Emma said, even being light-headed.
He shrugged. "It was important. But now that it is set up, we just have to wait." The noise from the crowd has turned down into murmurs, not sure what has happened, but that it is probably under control. Some people went inside their houses to bring out chairs and snacks to watch the sky.
Regina and Emma finally were good enough to talk without feeling like they were going to lose their head. "I didn't expect that to happen," said Regina, who stood up. Henry was going to stand up to help her, but Regina waved him off. Henry sat back down on the curve.
"Weren't you the one who was reading the book?" Emma asked, humouring herself about the situation.
Regina laughed. "Why yes, but that man over there." She pointed to Mr. Gold. "Took the book away too quickly so I didn't have time to finish it."
"Let's all stop pointing at figures at people," he said. Suddenly, there was a loud crashing sound that echoed through the town.
"What was that?" Mary Margaret said, who stood up to get a better view at the sky. Objects were crashing into the shield that was protected the city. As soon as the objects hit the shield, they would burn, filling the forest floor behind the shield.
The commotion in the city rose again, with the people who were sitting in their chair standing up, and the people holding food dropping it, making a mess on the sidewalk. "That deary," said Rumpelstiltskin. "Is our attackers."
"Didn't you say they didn't know we were here?" David questioned, standing beside his wife.
"Apparently, I'm wrong."
Belle stood beside Rumpelstiltskin. "Will we be fine behind this shield? Will they be able to destroy it?"
He shook his head. "That would be impossible. Only people behind the shield can destroy it." The hours started to go by and the objects hitting the shield didn't lower. Most of the people who were filling the streets went into their houses to continue their normal routine while some who are worried about the shield breaking stayed, leaving their spots occasionally to grab food or go to the washroom.
As soon as the sun started to set, the objects stopped hitting the shield. Everyone but the group who knew about what was happening has left the street and went back into their houses. "Man, that kinda reminded me of fireworks," Emma said, somewhat day-dreaming while speaking.
"Sure," Mary Margaret said, not very sure what fireworks were. Rumpelstiltskin and Belle left their spot together, and walked away together.
"Bye," Henry said to Regina. She held her arms out, and Henry walked into them. They hugged for a moment before breaking apart. They gave each other a smile. Henry walked towards Emma and she grabbed his hand. Emma, Mary Margaret, David, and Henry started to walk back towards their apartment. Regina stood there, watching them before heading back towards her house.
I hope that was a good ending. Reviews would be great, and if you want me to do a different genre type, let me know.
