Chapter 6
Scouting, Exorcists and the past
Haru tried to avoid looking into Raynare's eyes or even anywhere in her general direction and desperately tried to calm down the damn blush on his cheeks.
'Bloody hell what is wrong with me, it was just a kiss, I've given and received many so why the heck does this one make me light up like a blushing virgin?' Haru wondered as he used some breathing exercises to calm his breathing and get his emotions back under control, once the blush has vanished from his cheeks he looked at Raynare who had developed a fascination with the floor with a major full face blush that really brought out the color of her eyes, every so often her eyes darted to look at Haru before going straight back to the floor.
seeing this Haru sighed as he tried to snap her out of her trance, "Raynare."
"EEP!" Haru's eyebrow twitched and the corner of his mouth twitched upward at her unexpected but definitely cute reaction.
"Did you just squeak?" Haru's eyes lit up with mischievous intent, a smirk working its way onto his face as Raynare's blush increased tenfold and she began to stutter from embarrassment,
"N. I didn't Baka!"
Haru chuckled at her obvious denial. his earlier blush and embarrassment now a faded memory, He smiled a little but it quickly faded once his stomach decided to let him know that he hasn't eaten anything since lunch and he just accumulated a whole day's worth of training and exhaustion.
Seeing this he decided on what to do quickly, "Raynare lets go into the kitchen, I'll make us some dinner and we'll talk then."
Raynare just nodded her head the blush still quite heavily set on her face. As they moved into the kitchen she keeps her head down and sits down at the table
Haru made up quite a good hearty dinner of steak, mashed potatoes, carrots and gravy, all in all a typical western family meal to Raynare's total shock, at her questioning look Haru sighed, "I take it that you have been used to only eating Japanese food?" Raynare slowly nod her head,
Haru smiles, "Well I have been around quite a lot and I've taken a liking to eat a variety of food, I thought of eating Western food today, this is a tasty and filing meal so eat up."
Raynare looked a little bit bashful before starting to eat both of them put their hands together and say, "Itadakimasu(1)"
They ate in relative silence both of them occasionally shifting their eyes to look at the other before immediately going straight back to their food, both of the nervous, unsure on how to talk to each other anymore after what had happened, Raynare didn't know that Haru absorbed the memories from his clone but she guessed that was what happened after seeing his eyes glaze over and the resulting blush after absorbing it, and Haru… Well Haru was fighting an internal battle, one the one hand he knew he had enjoyed that kiss and would have definitely went further with the beautiful Fallen Angel, on the other hand he was struggling with his own prejudices against Fallen Angels. Haru cradled his head in his hands, his emotions are telling him one thing and yet his logic argued against them wholeheartedly.
He barely noticed Raynare's soft voice calling him, "Haru-sensei?" Haru looks up at her and saw that the blush on her cheeks was gone and her usual aura of playfulness and confidence has been replaced by gloom, the spark that was usually in her eyes dimmed as she avoided looking at him directly in the eyes, in fact she had her head turned to the side to avoid even looking in his direction, Haru's eyes narrowed at the sudden change in behavior, Raynare's back stiffened and she leapt from the chair, keeping her back turned to Haru, her voice soft as a whisper but still held a sharp tone to it like one of her light daggers, "I'm getting my things and I'm leaving, I'm sorry for bothering you Haru-sensei."
Haru's eyes widened to the size of dinner plates, her words didn't cut him to the core, no they smashed into his chest with the force of a sledgehammer, a cold feeling of dread filled his chest as it tightened making it hard to breathe properly, moving on instinct Haru leapt out of his chair and blurted out, "Why are you leaving!" His chest rising and falling rapidly, thoughts zooming around in his head so fast he can't even think straight and… all of that ceased to exist once Raynare turned around to face him and he saw the tears dripping from her face.
Everything just seemed to slow down and his vision zoned up close to Raynare's face and took in every detail of her face, the tears streaming down her face, her eyes misty and watery, her lips quivering and the shaking of her shoulders.
Haru reacted like anybody would at the sight of a crying girl, he stepped over to her and wrapped her in a warm hug, cradling his hand around her neck and pulling her into his shoulder.
Raynare stiffened at the contact trying to work out just what happened and once she realized her position, she struggled to get loose and away from Haru the source of her pain, this just made Haru tighten his grip on her, Raynare quickly submitted and settled for digging her nails into his shoulder and crying openly in his arms.
Haru remained silent as Raynare stuttered through her sobs, "W-w-why are you doing t-t-this. F-f-f-first you treat me like shit and look at me like you want t-t-t-to k-k-kill me and then the next y-y-y-y-your being nice and t-t-t-then you kiss me and don't even say that it was just your clone, I saw your face when it disappeared you know what happened, so why are you treating me like this, why, why, why!" Haru closed his eyes as he tried to reign in his rampaging emotions, his arms tightening around Raynare as he tried to think of a way out of the situation without hurting the woman in his arms.
He sighed deeply resigning to the fact that there was no easy way out of it and moved his head back to look at Raynare's face.
Her eyes were all red and puffy and she was still sobbing, the sight did something to Haru that never happened in years, his emotions calmed down from a sudden and terrible storm to a calm and gentle ocean almost without meaning to Haru smiled slightly and brushed away the tears from her cheeks his face set in a gentle and caring expression, his voice soft that if Raynare wasn't standing right in front of him she wouldn't have heard it, "Don't cry Raynare… I-I have some explaining to do, calm yourself down and we… we'll talk ok?"
Raynare nodded her head as she dried her tears up, taking a few calming breaths and sitting back down at the table facing Haru who had a torn expression on his face.
Haru felt vulnerable, weak and he has let Raynare through his defenses in only a matter of days which by all means should have been impossible even his partners and regular contacts to months and even years of constant contact before he let them in and told them his story and yet this woman, this beautiful, sexy smart Fallen Angel has managed it and that fact alone terrified Him down to his very bones, was he getting weak? Or was that she reminded him of his past self he wanted to forget? All these thoughts rang in his mind before deciding to put this issue to an end.
He reigned in his emotions and steadied himself and enters his, "Mission Mode."
Cold. Calm. Calculating.
Haru folded his hands in front of his face and looked up at Raynare his eyes inexpressive and cold, "I have treated you badly and without an explanation but with just cause, to understand my reasons for behaving the way I have been around you, you need to understand and know my past Raynare. I don't make a habit of telling this to people only those closest to me, you will be the only exception to date, all I ask is that you don't interrupt me and listen."
Raynare only nod her head, no words coming to her as she's never seen this side of Haru even when they had fought before, he had been cocky and insulting to piss her off, but this… this cold and calm person in front of her was like a completely different person.
Haru sighed, "Alright, first off my name is Haru Dragneel, heir to the Dragneel clan which until a couple of years ago was one of the most powerful and respected Omnyouji clans in Japan, we had an alliance of a sorts with the Church but for the most part we had a good relationship with all three factions, we simply took care of any Rouge elements that harmed any of the innocents, I was the heir to family and I began training in the family arts from a young age. My family, my clan were unique in the fact that we didn't need a holy blessing or a godly miracle to kill Rouges we were born with the ability to use Dragon Fire, according to my clans records we are descendant from the very first Dragon Slayer, Natsu Dragneel and since then the gift has ran through the clan's blood."
Haru looked down his eyes misting up at even thinking of the next bit of his story, "Like I said I was the heir to the family and would have taken the leadership after my training was complete but when I was 5 that all ended… The compound was attacked, most of my memories of the event are fuzzy but the most important things are burned into my mind and I can never forget them, my grandfather the Head of the clan facing down three Stray Devils, the screams, the blood and my… my mother being impaled by a light spear right in front of me before she activated a failsafe and sent me away from the compound."
Raynare looked horrified by the story that Haru had just told her but it didn't stop there, continuing on with the same monotone voice Haru continues his story, "The failsafe took me to my clans only friends and allies the Himejima family, Akeno and her mum and dad took me in, healed my wounds and Barakiel taught me most of what I know by fighting, I wasn't the same boy though, I had a deep phobia of black wings anytime I even saw a black feather I would collapse and have a relapse of my memories. It was that same phobia that drove a wedge through my relationship with Akeno, she revealed her half-blood heritage and I blacked out because of it. A couple days after that I left the Himejima shrine for a training trip and several years later I turned to mercenary work under the name "Wyvern".
Raynare's eyes widened at the name, Wyvern was infamous in the world for a reason, if you have the funds to pay for his services then you were guaranteed a successful job, body guarding, spying, assassination, Stray and Rouge hunting, you name it and Wyvern did it, he was one of the only mercenaries that worked on jobs from all Three factions and if the tales of his missions were true then he was a brutal opponent famous for his mind over anything once he had information on you, you were as good as dead as he seemed to always have a strategy or counter for everything, and she was sitting across the table from him.
"Sweet Mother of God are you serious, you're Wyvern!" Haru's right eyebrow twitches and his mouth moves a little in a small smiles his eyes glinting in mischief.
"Really that is all you got from that conversation, yes I am Wyvern why?" Raynare ducked her head looking a little sheepish at being caught out, but a little part of her was glad that Haru was acting a little bit like himself again.
"Well you are rather famous in the Three Factions, Azazel talks about you all the time." Haru cocks an eyebrow at her a smirk on his face as he leans back in the chair the same glint still in his eyes.
"Oh what does the old pervert say about me." Ordinarily Raynare would have screamed bloody murder at anyone who she even though badmouthed Azazel in front of her but surprisingly she used her head above her knee jerk reactions and thought about the information that she had gathered about Haru, he was Wyvern, he had worked with the Fallen Angels several times which meant that it was probably Azazel that had contracted him and well Raynare just had to sweatdrop and laugh at Haru's description of her leader.
"T-t-that sounds just like him, every time a female would come into the office he would either check them out, say something completely perverted, you must be really close to him to know that."
Haru shrugged his shoulders, out of all of his clients Azazel was the one who most used his services frequently. But Haru could hardly blame him for doing so, the Fallen Angels while strong were few in number and unlike the Angels or Devils didn't have a system to increase their numbers like the Evil Pieces and all the attempts at creating one had ended in complete failure so they were completely reliant on Stray Exorcists to make up the bulk of their forces and whenever an Angel fell from Heaven it was a race to pick them up lest an Exorcist or Devil take the opportunity to kill them whilst they were still suffering from the effects of having Heavens Blessing removed from them.
Haru smiled, "He is my most frequent client, quite ironic that the race that I borderline hate is one of my biggest clients sometimes I really think that God just hates me to heap this kind of shitty luck on me hehehe."
Raynare's eyes lost their spark once Haru said that he hated her race, she couldn't really blame him after all he had good reason to hate them, seeing your mother killed in front of you at such a young age isn't something you just get over without hating the cause of it, in this case Fallen Angels but that logic and reason didn't stop his words acting like a dagger to her heart.
Haru noticed her depressed look and the flinch that she unknowingly made keyed him into her thoughts, grumbling Haru tries to get her mind off of the subject, "So Raynare um tell me about yourself." That caught Raynare off guard, she snaps her head up so fast that her neck cracks from the strain of it, her eyes widen in shock, Haru Dragneel had been nice to her not once but twice in one day, did he spike the food?
"Did you put a drug in my food? There is no way you would be nice to me and certainly not twice in one day so what is going on?" Haru winced at both the tone of disbelief and her question, now that he actually thought about it he had been an absolute asshole to her since the day he meet her, first he fought and overpowered her a weaker opponent in a fight that should have lasted only seconds instead of minutes, then her tortured her for information, took her and treated her coldly or with just bare amounts of kindness, then trained her till she passed out from exhaustion. Haru felt guilt rise up in his chest and not even the age old argument, 'She's a crow she deserves it' could help in banishing the feeling.
The truth was that she wasn't just another Fallen Angel, she was Raynare, the sarcastic, flirty tease of a woman that had taken away his loneliness without even him realizing it, to Haru's shock after thinking back on the events of the last couple days since he had meet her, he realized a big truth, he had enjoyed her company, talking to her, trading witty barbs, teasing her, training with her all of it had filled a gap in his life that had been left since he and Kuroka had parted ways, it felt… nice.
Haru made a vow to himself to start treating Raynare better after realizing this even if it was just gradually, there was no reason to let his almost blind hatred of her race color his liking of the woman, that would be just stupid and he had no doubts that if his mother had heard that he even thought of doing such a thing he would be face down in the dirt with a massive lump on his head from her "Frying Pan of Massive Pain" as he called it, his mother always was a caring woman and wouldn't turn her back on anyone that needed.
Haru's mood turned somber at the thought of his mother, for years now anytime he ever thought of his family all he could think of was them dying and the attack, never about them before the event, his eyes flickered to Raynare yet again, she was the cause of all of this somehow she had managed to get by most of his defenses and now he is actually being positive for the first time in years, not even Kuroka had this kind of effect on him.
"Hey Haru answer me you have been staring into space for a while, hey!" Haru snapped out his thoughts noticing Raynare right in front of his face with a worried look on her face, her violet eyes shining with worry and her face relaxed around him. Haru leant back from shock and his chair toppled causing him to crash into the ground with an amusing assortment of curses, making Raynare snigger at him.
Haru got back up from the floor with a flush of embarrassment and a tick mark on his forehead, "Laugh it up Raynare, just know that you're going to pay for that in training later on." The laughter choked off from Raynare who looked downright horrified by the sadistic expression on Haru's face, that expression however quickly slipped into a soft smile as he took his seat again, "To answer your question, no I haven't drugged you… I just had an epiphany of sorts and I realized that I was treating you badly because of my own damn stupid reasons, I promise you now that from now on I will be treating you better Raynare."
Raynare's eyes went wide at his proclamation and blushed a little at the sight of his smiling face, 'He's kind of cute when he smiles like that… Baka what are you saying! this is Haru the sadistic asshole that burns you on a daily basis and trains you into the dirt… although he is cute and hot I mean that body in those training clothes oh mama like… What the fuck is wrong with me!'
Haru smirked at seeing Raynare going into a daydream and clicks his fingers in front of her face to get her attention snapping her out of her daze, he smiles slightly and motions for her to sit down, "Now then how about we reintroduce ourselves, a fresh start so to say, I'll go first just to make you more comfortable." Haru clears his throat.
"My name is Haru Dragneel, I like meat and any food generally, playing games, anime, manga, fighting strong opponents and making strategy's, I hate pompous assholes, power hungry maniacs, any form of transport apart from flying and fangirls, my goal for the future is to track down my families killers and bring them to justice and after that find a nice girl to settle down with a have a family. Your turn."
Raynare paused slightly before smiling slightly, "My name is Raynare, I like teasing, fighting, making you blush because its adorable and cute things, I hate perverts, devils and power hungry assholes, my goals for the future are to get stronger and gain more wings to make Azazel proud of me." Haru cocks an eyebrow.
"Don't take this in a bad way but why do you care so much about what Azazel thinks of you and why do you hate devils?" Raynare looks down at the table and frowns, "I hate devils because my mother and father were killed by Stray Devils when I was three years old, I didn't fall from Heaven, I don't even know what it looks like I was born a Fallen Angel, my parents were the ones that fell because they fell in love with each other and apparently that is against the rules so they were cast out, I can barely remember their faces all I remember is looking up at Azazel's face, he saved me, took me in and treated me like his own daughter, I just want to show him and everyone else that I am worth the effort and he wasn't just taking pity on me like everyone else keeps saying behind my back in the Grigori."
Haru's eyes widened at her story and a sympathetic look washed over his face, "I-I'm sorry Raynare." Looking down at the table Haru mentally berated himself, 'Fuck I've been treating her like shit for something that she didn't even have a choice in and to make it worse she probably understands me more than most people could, I really am an asshole.' Raynare looked up and saw the look on Haru's face and wasted no time in reacting, reaching over she grabs his chin and yanks his face up to look at her.
"Now you listen here, don't you dare go feeling sorry for yourself or me because honestly that would just make me hate you got it Haru-kun." It took a few seconds for the two of them to realize a few things, first their faces were mere centimeters away from each other, second was Raynare's use of the affectionate suffix and third was the tugging sensation in their chests once they started to look into each other's eyes.
Both stare into each other's eyes and time just seems to slow down, their heartbeats quicken to the point that they hear and feel them beating, their breathing quickens and their eyes dilate, almost as if some kind of force was drawing them in they both lean in.
Haru snaps out of just before their lips meet his heart thumping in his chest, breathing ragged he stepped up and away from the table and slapped his head a few times to get rid of the haze that had invade is mind.
Turning back around he sees Raynare still hovering over his side of the table with a shocked and hurt expression on her face at his rejection, Haru panicked, "Um sorry Raynare but I… um seriously we… uh have only known each other for a few days, don't you think that we should… you know? take this kind of thing slow?"
Raynare got off of her chair and marched over to him, her head down and shadows preventing her eyes from being seen, she stopped a couple of centimeters from Haru who looked quite nervous, "Slow, it wasn't so slow when you were training me by throwing your fire at me, it wasn't slow when we were teasing each other, it wasn't slow when you changed me into my nightwear, cooking me food, being the first person to treat me as an actual person rather than a daughter, ally, nuisance and it sure as hell wasn't slow when we were making out in the training room and enjoying it was it Haru-kun!"
Haru constantly backed up into the kitchen with each point she made until he was backed right up into the kitchen fridge and Raynare was still standing at the same distance from him, "You are so frustrating Haru-kun, and you know what? I am done being cautious it's not in my nature and I am taking control for once in my life so shut up!"
With that shout Raynare did the boldest thing in her life to date, she leap forward and claimed Haru's lips in a searing, hot passionate kiss. Haru's brain shut down at the first contact but as soon as the heat washed over his body it rebooted and ran on autopilot returning the kiss slowly and gently, each little movement sending tingles down his lips and shivers down his spine, slowly the kiss became more, his body felt like it was on fire and he was moving on instinct wanting more of this amazing feeling, he moves his lips quicker and harder, sucking on her bottom lip, diving his head down and kissing her pulse point getting a very sexy throaty moan from the sexy Fallen Angel.
Slowly Haru slips backwards and down the surface of the fridge and Raynare follow eventually the two of them slide to the floor with Raynare ending up draped over his body and both of them passionately making out, Raynare gets even more daring and slips her tongue into Haru's mouth that turns into a duel that Haru quickly wins and takes advantage of, slipping his tongue into her mouth and thoroughly exploring it making the woman moan with delight at her partners actions.
Eventually the heat faded away and both of them begin to slow down in their passion until the kiss became chaste again. Both were breathless but had very big smiles on their faces and Haru's eyes for the first time in a long time regained some of their former sparkle, smiling softly he kisses Raynare gently on the nose making her scrunch it up cutely, making him laugh in turn, the two hug for some time before getting back up again.
Strangely any feelings of awkwardness were mute, instead a feeling of happiness was the main thing the two felt, Raynare and Haru both smiled widely at each other till Haru decided to break the silence.
"Ok point made, Raynare, I just… let's just take this one thing at a time yeah, I've never been in a real relationship before so um." Raynare was quick putting one finger on his lips,
"Ssh I haven't been in a relationship either but I am telling you right now Haru Dragneel I have never had such strong feelings of attraction to someone before and I want this, I want to experience this with you, one step at a time we'll help each other through it ok." Haru nod his head quickly silently wondering what happened to the shy girl from a few minutes ago.
"Ok well we can discuss this later for now to business, we are going to your hideout, I believe you said it was the abandoned church on the hill, we are going to scout it out, get a headcount of all the exorcist's there as well as the names of your comrades and find out what their planning and if they have received any more orders from Kokabiel, you can also pick up some more of your personal effects while we are there because to be honest the amount of clothes you have now really won't cut it with the rate you're going through them in training."
Raynare stuck her tongue out at him, "Meanie."
Haru raised an eyebrow, "Really? Was that necessary?"
Raynare smiled, "Yep, now get your sweet tight little ass in gear Haru-kun and let's go!" Haru looks stunned as she ran out of the room before sweat dropping, "Women are so weird."
Later that day:
Raynare and Haru walked up the hill towards the church trading insults and teasing other, both are smiling and acting like they had been friends for a long time, when they arrived close to the church Raynare leant and breathed on Haru's ear, "So what's the plan?" Haru stiffened and helds back the shudder that threatened to run down his back at the feeling of her warm breath on his ear.
"Simple, I pose as a new exorcist and you just came back from killing a devil contractor that was operating a bit too close to the church." Raynare smirked, although he had managed to hide most of it she still saw the reaction he had from her, "Sounds good, so then shall we." Haru looked over at her and pulls his hood over his head to prevent his face being seen, "We shall, ladies first."
Raynare pouted, "Aww such a gentleman." As she walks by him however, "Shame I can't see your cute face because of that hood hehe." Haru blushed as she walks away with a slight swing to her step that makes it impossible for him not to tunnel vision on her hips and shapely ass, Haru raised a hand and slapped himself across his cheek to snap himself out of it, "That woman is gonna be the end of me I swear."
Grumbling he followed her into the church, the state it was in was in one word 'fucked', the pews were lining the wall, and there were several holes in the walls and the windows, the place looked like a hurricane had torn its way through each and every room, the smell was worse, it was obvious that birds and stray animals had taken refuge there, the smell of piss and shit was so heavy that Haru with his sensitive nose felt like vomiting as soon as he stepped through the door. Raynare turns and cocked an eyebrow at him and snorts, she had the exact same reaction the first time she came in here and it was amusing to watch someone else suffer from it.
Haru grumbled inaudibly as they move through the church he could see a few Stray Exorcists hanging around the place, strangely none of had their hoods down, instead keeping them on, odd behavior considering that they were inside their own base and around comrades you would think that they would be a bit more relaxed.
Raynare led the way down underneath the church to the secret chamber below it, as she opened the door, Haru's eyes sharpened at what he saw, the place was lit up with torches and there was a sizeable number of Stray Exorcists in the chamber, all of them were working on one thing or another but the thing that stood out to Haru was the stone table device on the podium.
'What the hell! Where did they get that, I thought Azazel destroyed them all, the artificial Scared Gear, Gear Ripper, a gear that's purpose is to rip other Scared Gears from their hosts and bring them into a corporeal form that anybody can use them, the only problem is that Scared Gears are bonded to their hosts in their souls ripping them out by force kills the host.'
'The entire project was declared a failure due to that fact, I mean what's the point of getting a gear and not being able to know how to use it thanks to the host dying? But what begs the question why is it here, the Exorcists are preparing for the ritual and the Gear is being powered so who are they going to use it on and why?' Haru looked around quickly examining every detail of the room and noting down any weaknesses or points of interest that he could use in the event of a fight breaking out in the room.
'Only one exit in sight, wide open area with a low hanging ceiling, the only vantage point being at the top of the podium, not good if a fight breaks out in here it will turn into a brawl, using fire magic is out, the room is too small, there's no vent so the smoke won't have an escape, could turn that into a short term advantage by using like a smoke screen.'
While Haru was going through his mental checklist Raynare had finally managed to find her fellow Fallen Angels and was talking to them, Mittlet the young blonde immature girl wearing a Gothic Lolita style dress, Kalawarner the only mature woman of the bunch, cold and professional and Dohnaseek the battle maniac who had an ego the size of a mountain.
When they first saw her, Mittlet was the only one that appeared to be happy that she was back among the group, the others… well Dohnaseek just didn't seem to care and Kalawarner just gave her a short nod of acknowledgement, Raynare smiles warmly her group might be dysfunctional but they were like a small family in a way, Mittlet the bratty younger sister, Kalawarner the cold stoic older sister that was always watching over them and Dohnaseek the asshole older brother that annoyed the other three.
Raynare spoke to the three for only a few minute but got some vital information from them, apparently they had new orders, a young recently exiled nun called Asia Argento was due to arrive in the city in the next two days their orders were to keep an eye on her and once the ritual was prepared, extract her Scared Gear Twilight Healing, a gear that can heal anybody of fatal wounds , regardless of their faction a very powerful gear to have especially when you factor in the Grigori's limited numbers every Fallen Angel was irreplaceable so a healing gear that could potentially make their missions less dangerous would be a great boon to them or so their orders said.
Raynare made her excuses saying that she was going to recon the area for a few days and keep the devils in check so that they won't interfere with the plan and she will be bringing the new recruit with her for backup, once she left the group she went into her quarters and packed a bag with a few articles of clothing and a memento from Azazel a small keychain with a miniature cartoon dragon on it.
Once packed she grabbed Haru and dragged him out of the church and they flew back to his house where she told him everything.
"Hmm Asia Argento huh? I heard rumors from my contacts about her, apparently she was looked up to as a sort of Holy Maiden in the church almost as much as Joan of Arc used to be, to think that she has been cast out of the church, hmm… I'll talk to my contacts and find out what is going on, we have two days to think of a plan we cannot let that ritual go forward, not only would it kill Asia needlessly but if the orders came from Kokabiel, we can't let him get his hands on a Gear that powerful, God knows what he would do with it."
Raynare looked worried, "Well what do we do then? I haven't been able to get into contact with Azazel for days now, the last time I talked to him was when he gave us the orders to set up in the church and watch Issei-san, since then there's been nothing."
Haru narrowed his eyes, 'If Raynare is as close to Azazel as she says she is then he wouldn't just drop out of contact with her for no reason and he always maintains constant contact with his Gear Recon groups in case of any developments, this isn't good he probably has no idea what's happening and there most likely a traitor working on the inside intercepting Raynare's messages, ok I know what to do its risky but it's the only option right now.'
Haru sighed, "Ok here's what we are going to do, first I am going to use my line of communication to contact the old pervert directly and inform of what's happening, he won't be able to send us any help though because there is a high chance of a traitor that is close to him, I'll inform him of what's going on and see what he wants us to do.
Next we go to the devils probably Rias Gremory and enlist their aid just in case, us two on our own won't be able to handle all those Exorcists and your friends so having some backup will help."
Raynare scowled at Haru, "Why would they help us?"
Haru smirked, "That's simple. I offer Rias something that she can't pass up."
Raynare looked interested, "What would that be?" Haru smirks and his eyes glint evilly, "Why a potential peerage member of course, I'm sure a healer that can heal devils would be quite valuable for her, plus she gets to secure her territory as well as see how Issei does in a fight, she can't possibly refuse."
Raynare looked stunned, "Why are you going to give her the nun surely she would be better off with us?" Haru frowned at this, "As much as it pains me to say it no she wouldn't be, we don't know how many traitors Kokabiel has on his side and he himself is trouble enough without an army behind him, we wouldn't be able to keep her safe but Rias can, as a member of her peerage Asia would have the benefit of being virtually untouchable to other the other factions unless they want to start a war."
Raynare smiled, "Anyone ever tell you that you are scary smart."
Haru smiles widely, "All the time my dear, all the time hehe."
