Kelly left the office and drove straight to Applebees, and found that Abby had already made it. She waved to Kelly from her car, or rather, herse.
"Hey!" She greeted Kelly
"Hey, Ready to go inside?" She replied
"Sure! I can't wait to find out more about you!" They walked into the restaurant and were seated, out of the corner of her eye Kelly saw someone stand up and begin to walk towards their table. She couldn't help but recognize the blonde hair and swear under her breath.
"You ok Kelly?" Abby asked in a very concerned way. "If you want a different table we can get one." Kelly would have very much loved a different table, but she had already been spotted the damage was done.
"No its fine Abby there is something I should tell you you see-"
"Kelly!" exclaimed an extravagantly annoying voice. "I can't believe you would just walk in and not acknowledge your mother! So, how was your day and who is this, interesting character you have with you?" From that statement Kelly didn't have to explain to Abby that this wasn't a likeable person from the word interesting Abby had "this bitch" written all over her face. Her mom clearly thought that Kelly wasn't willing to deny her in a public place, and that she would pretend their relationship was fine, so she could get a few minutes to explain herself, well she clearly didn't know Kelly that well. Frankly she wasn't worth a second more of Kelly's life.
"Seeing as you aren't my mother my actions are completely reasonable, Dolly." Kelly replied and amazed herself with how cold her voice sounded. Dolly had noticed too. Her face faltered slightly but she kept up that perfectly evil smile as she tried again.
"Still keeping up with those silly delusions are we? Of course I'm your mother Kelly dear, are you alluding that someone else raised you? Fed you? Clothed you?"
"Oh only in my dreams." Kelly retorted "Abby may I introduce you to Dolly Stanton, my…"
"Mother." Dolly interrupted.
"Kidnapper more like it. Look Abby do you mind if we find somewhere else to eat?" Kelly asked.
"Not at all" Abby responded giving Dolly a scathing look. The girls stood up and left a protesting Dolly on their way out of the restaurant.
"So who was that?" Abby asked once they were a safe distance away. Kelly's response was cut off by the sound of her phone going off. Her mom. Did she ever stop?
"My well I don't know really, for along time I thought she was my mom." She said after pushing the end button.
"You lived with that monster!? She… she's like an evil Director Shepard!" Abby replied.
"Director who?" Kelly asked suddenly confused.
"She was the Director before Director Vance, but anyway so whats the story with you and psycho mom?" Abby asked, eager for the entire story. Kelly suddenly remembered that Abby had no idea who she was. This story might take a while.
"It's a long story, lets go to a different restaurant first." she said.
"No problem!" Abby replied and they headed to the TGI Fridays nearby.
…
"OH MY GOD! you are joking!" Abby exclaimed at the end of Kelly's story.
"Nope… I am the living breathing Kelly Shannon Gibbs." Kelly said a bit nervous. From what she had heard Abby had been like a daughter to Gibbs, and she didn't want Abby to think that she resented her for any reason. If anything she was thankful that Abby was there for her father when she couldn't be. Suddenly Abby was hugging her.
"This is amazing! So thats why he was so happy today! I can't believe it. Another Gibbs, and on the same team! We are going to be unstoppable now! Abby said excitedly
:"I got the impression that the team was unstoppable before hand" Kelly replied.
"Well yes but know we'll be like unstoppably unstoppable. I just can't believe it!" she exclaimed hugging Kelly again.
"I'm glad that you are okay with it. I was honestly worried." Kelly admitted.
"Ofcourse! I've just gained a sister!" Abby replied "I could never not be okay with this!" They ate their dinners and talked for hours. Kelly could see her and Abby easily becoming best friends and was perfectly okay with that. Kelly said goodbye to Abby at the restaurant and drove home. When she got there however, she stopped in horror. In the driveway was John's chevy. Several horrifying scenarios raced through her head of her boyfriend and her father alone together as she raced to the door. As she reached it she stopped to listen and heard... laughing. Un able to take it any longer, she walked in the house. Her father looked up and smiled, immediately Kelly knew he was behind this.
"Oh hey kells" He said casually.
"Hey dad, John." She said John got up and hugged her but nothing else clearly terrified, and Kelly couldn't blame him.
"I wanted to see if you were home, but your dad answered the door and told me you were out, and then he invited me in for a talk." John explained.
"I just wanted to make sure you had your mothers good tastes" he said flashing her a guilty smile. "and i wanted to find out what kind of guy John was, and to make sure he knew the lines, turns out he knows them very well… Right John?"
"Semper Fi sir." John replied. Kelly breathed a sigh of relief, what ever her father had dished out John had taken well, and he passed whatever kind of weird Gibb's test there was. 'Well I'd love to stay but I got morning duty. Nice chat sir" he said nodding to Gibb's. Her dad nodded back, and Kelly walked John to the door.
"Sorry about that" She said quickly.
"Hey, Kelly, I helped you search for him, you gotta know expected it. He's awesomedespite being terrifying."
"That's a very accurate description" Kelly Laughed. She kissed him goodnight and went back inside the house.
"Have a goodnight Kells?" Gibbs asked smiling slyly.
"Perfect one Dad!" she said before throwing a pillow at him and heading up stairs laughing.
Sorry for the wait! Don't Hate me!
