So I promised someone I would have this up by six in the morning on the first which I didnt keep and I apologize so I'm posting it now because I was busy. Again, very sorry.
Hiccup was excited, he got to go on a raid with his mom. Not that his mom usually didn't come, because she did. She just never really participated. This time she was going to ride alongside him on one of Hiccup's favorite Timberjacks. "Are you ready?" she asked.
"More than ever," replied Hiccup, smiling at her.
"What am I?" asked Snotlout, "Chop liver? Does it not matter if i'm ready?" he asked.
"Oh no, it's just that. Hookfang is always ready..." said Jennie.
"Aw come on!" exclaimed Snotlout.
Jennie laughed and said, "Are you ready, young one?"
"Ready as ever," Snotlout replied confidently. Hiccup laughed, he really did care about the well being of his cousin and Hiccup knew that Jennie cared about Snotlout just as much as he did. Which was how it needed to be.
"Hey, Meatlug, are you sure you're ready to go back? What if you see Fishlegs?" Hiccup asked the dragon quietly.
"If I see him, he will either come with me or be demolished by others," Meatlug said. "I believe he will come with us,"
"I agree," whispered Hiccup, smiling at the dragon. Fishlegs cared about Meatlug too much to hate. her.
"Let us go," announced Jennie, taking off. Hiccup and Toothless quickly followed with the other dragons and Snotlout right behind.
It took them a while to get to Berk but when they did, the village was waiting. With their weapons, or what they had left of them. Hiccup knew that Gobber could only work so fast. He saw Astrid and the twins standing there, axes in hand but Fishlegs was not there. "Meatlug! I think you know where Fishlegs in, so go and get him!" Hiccup yelled, and he watched as the Gronkle flew off in the other direction.
"Now then, shall we begin?" asked Jennie.
"We shall," said Snotlout, "Can I do the battle cry this time?"
"Why not," stated Hiccup.
"For Berk!" yelled Snotlout, and the raid began.
Astrid wanted to scream in anger, what audacity they had to have to use the battle cry 'For Berk!' they were the ones that turned against Berk. "I know why you're angry," said Fishlegs, when the raid had begun Astrid had come to Fishlegs knowing that Meatlug would come looking for him.
"Yeah? Well, Mr. Know-it-all, enlighten me," said Astrid.
"You're angry about the battle cry, but I think that they have enough right. Berk was the dragons home just as much as it was ours. They're fighting for the Berk that did not suffer these kind of attacks because they had dragons. They're fighting for the freedom that you all swiped away from them because of Mildew?" inquired Fishlegs.
"We didn't do it because of Mildew, we did it because the dragons were messing everything up," defended Astrid.
"They were getting used to our culture, even though i'm pretty positive that Mildew was tampering with them. They would never do anything like that," said Fishlegs.
"That's not true, you could be arrested for saying such things and you know it," said Astrid.
"Are you going to arrest me?" asked Fishlegs, he stared at her for a while but when answered with silence he sighed. "I didn't think so Astrid,"
"You just need to accept that dragons are not welcome here anymore and you need to stop obsessing over the past," said Astrid.
"You know what, I feel sorry for you, Astrid. You block people out so easily. Aren't you hurt? You're losing everything. I really do feel sorry for you Astrid, but i'm afraid it's time for me to go," said Fishlegs, and then out of nowhere, Meatlug came from behind Fishlegs. The dragon picked up Fishlegs gently and flew out of the hut, before Astrid had any time to react.
"Damn it! I let them get away," she mumbled, but did she really feel all that bad? She ran outside and watched Meatlug and Fishlegs fly away. She saw him fly up to Hiccup on that damned Night Fury. She just sat there and watched as Hiccup had a reunion with his old friend, she knew when she saw the smile on Hiccup's face that she would not be able to stop them in their moment of vulnerability. For a moment she lost concentration of what the village needed and thoughts of Stormfly entered her mind.
"No," she stated, "I cannot put what I want over what the village needs," She then heard a painful cry out in the distance, "Stormfly?" she questioned. Then the answer came crashing down next to her, and she saw her blue dragon lying on the ground.
"Stormfly!" yelled Hiccup. Astrid looked up, she knew very well that Hiccup wanted to come down there and rescue the fallen dragon. She also knew that he could not because of her. Astrid kneeled beside her dragon, and she cried.
"I'm so sorry Stormfly," she whispered. "I must think of the village before me, it would be selfish to put my own needs before theirs." she was sobbing now, right into her dragon's scales. "I love you so much Stormfly, never ever forget that," she said to the Dragon, slowly helping her onto her feet. "Go fly off now, before I change my mind," Astrid chuckled, she was afraid she was going to break so her dragon needed to leave before she jumped on and flew away.
Stormfly took a few steps forward and looked back at her former rider. The dragon let out a small whimper and flew off. Astrid waited till Stormfly was well out of view before she broke. She ran and ran until she could run no further. She had reached a beach, which was where no one would find her. Then she cried, harder than she had in a long time. "What has become of me?" she whispered. She spent the next hour on the beach, crying until there was no more tears to shed. She needed to think of something that avoided Stormfly, so she ran over topics until she found the one she needed to think about.
Hiccup. She was certain that he was a dragon, yet she had seen him again as a human. "What's going on?" she muttered, in a frustrated tone.
"I'll tell you what's going on!" exclaimed Mildew.
"What do you mean?" questioned Astrid, trying to act as if she hadnt spent the last few hours crying.
"You're a traitor!" Mildew said.
"That's preposterous!" Astrid exclaimed in protest.
"Brat, I saw what you did with that blue dragon. Traitor! That's what you are," he stated.
"What blue dragon," she said with confidence.
"I believe she used to go by the name Stormfly when we named those wretched beasts," replied Mildew. "Either way, you're under arrest. If you fight it you'll only cause more suspicion,"
"I didn't do anything wrong!" exclaimed Astrid.
"What is wrong in your book is most likely different than what is wrong in mine," stated Mildew, as they walked towards the jail.
"You'd better call the chief, he wont stand for anyone being put in jail for no reason," warned Astrid.
"The chief has already been notified, he was quite angry at first but he wants to hear both sides of the story," explained Mildew.
"Angry at who?" asked Astrid.
"Tidbits, Tidbits, there really is no need for you to know," said Mildew.
"Yeah, mhmm" said Astrid.
"Don't get snarky with me," snapped Mildew.
"Or what?" taunted Astrid.
"Or I'll have you thrown in the pit!" exclaimed Mildew.
"Only the chief can make that decision," Astrid said calmly, Mildew probably felt like hitting the girl, and beating her for all she's worth. Yet Astrid knew that he couldn't do that, Prisoners are not to be beaten no matter what they do unless they are trying to escape. Only then may you use a small amount of violence to restrain them. Those were the rules and Mildew tried not to break rules.
After what seemed like hours of walking, they finally made it to the jail where Stoick was waiting as promised. "Are you alright Astrid?" he asked.
"I'm fine chief, just taking a walk but It seems like there is an annoying bug that keeps following me," replied Astried, she watched the Chief restrain a laugh.
"Can you explain to me what happened?" questioned Stoick,
"Well I went to go stop Fishlegs from leaving cause I had a suspicious feeling but when i got there it was too late. He had already flown off with Hiccup and the others, I went to the beach for a while to cool off a bit but when I was walking back Mildew approached me and said I had a meeting with Stormfly or some nonsense like that," explained Astrid.
"Does he have any evidence to back up his claim?" asked Stoick.
"I do not believe so," replied Astrid.
Stoick turned to Mildew and said, "You arrested this young girl, without any evidence of the charges given?"
"I saw it with my own eyes, Stoick" said Mildew.
"I do not see what you see," stated Stoick. "You cannot arrest someone when there is nothing to arrest them for,"
"But-"
"NO MILDEW, That is enough!" exclaimed Stoick, Mildew looked down. He sighed and walked away.
"Thanks Chief, I don't know where he even got the idea," said Astrid.
"Listen to me Astrid, don't go getting yourself into meaningless trouble. It's okay to miss Stormfly, it's ok to miss everyone that has left. There are plenty of people here that feel at a loss because of everything that happened. If you ever see Stormfly, you must not kill her. I know you, Astrid, and I really don't want you to have to kill one of your friends," said Stoick. "I have no doubt that if the event Mildew said happened, could happen. I'd be fine with it,"
Astrid smiled, "Thanks chief, thats amazing,"
"Just be careful," said Stoick, and with that Astrid walked off with a smile on her face.
As they were flying away Hiccup said, "Of all the raids so far, this one must have been the most effective,"
"Why's that?" asked Snotlout.
"Well we got Fishlegs, so now we have half of the original Berk dragon riders. Not a single dragon got taken down or captured, and I think we might have gotten through to Astrid thanks to Stormfly," Hiccup explained.
"She wanted to come with me, I swear it!" exclaimed Stormfly.
"I'm sure she did," said Jennie.
"Who's Jennie talking too?" asked Fishlegs.
"Oh that's right, you don't know yet! Jennie is the mother of dragons, therefore she can understand them. If you're lucky, she might even let you understand them too," Hiccup said, but he whispered the last part.
Fishlegs gasped, "That is so cool,"
"Well, it's to be expected," said Snotlout. "The lady does live with them. If she didn't understand them things might get... misinterpreted,"
Jennie laughed, "I suppose you're right,"
"Of course i'm right," said Snotlout, which caused Jennie to laugh even more. "What's so funny!"
"Nothing, i'm just glad that my family is growing so quickly," she said.
With that they flew until they reached Dragon Island, after a quick dinner everyone went to bed, preparing for the raid that would happen the following week.
I took way too long on this chapter and I apologize. I'm just glad that I finally managed to get it done because one of my other stories needs to be worked on as well.
