A/N: Hi guys an update! Yay..sorry for the delay. Don't worry working on updating In the line of fire so keep watch for that as well. Like always read on!

Everlasting-7

The infirmary was quiet. The only sound that filled the room was the steady beeping of the monitor. It had been three days since the team rushed Jonas into the care of the medical staff. Nothing had changed from his sudden collapse. Everyone not sure if that was a good thing or not.

Teal'c sat beside his friends bed for nearly four hours when Daniel came in. Daniel looked at Jonas before he came over to Teal'c.

"Hey..how is he doing?" he asked already knowing the answer.

"He is yet to awaken Daniel Jackson." Teal'c confirmed sadly.

Daniel nodded slightly before reaching out to touch his arm. "Take a break Teal'c. Get something to eat. I'll watch him."

Teal'c rose from the chair bowing slightly before he left the room. Daniel sat in the chair glancing over at the monitor before he looked at the alien. He let out a heavy sigh leaning back in the chair. Waiting as patiently as Teal'c had. For another two days it had been a series of rotations between the members of the team.

It was Sam's turn when Janet entered the room to check on her patient. At the sound of heeled feet Sam looked at her wiping her hand over her face.

"Hey." she said quietly.

Janet looked exhausted but she managed to give a smile. "Hey. I'm just here to look over him."

Sam nodded. She waited silently as Janet did her examine. It wasn't until she placed her stethoscope back around her neck did she speak.

"His heart rate is fairly fast. A slight fever, and blood pressure is high, but as far as everything else. Nothing has improved or gotten worse."

"Janet it as been a week. There has to be some kind of improvement somewhere. He should be getting better by now right?"

The doctor stared at Sam finally caving in. "Sam..the truth is. I don't think he'll ever get better. Realistically he is dying and there is nothing medically possible I can do except make him comfortable."

"I won't except that. There must be something we're missing. You may have given up but Jonas...Jonas is a fighter. He is stronger than we give him credit for." Sam shot back.

Janet was hurt. Defending herself she gave Sam a stern look. "Sam I am not taking this lightly. Do you think I haven't looked at every possibility and examined it every way I can? The answer is always the same."

Sam shook her head. "I'm sorry Janet. It just reminds me.."

"When Daniel was exposed to naquadria radiation." Janet finished.

"I can't go through that again. I just can't." Sam confessed looking back at Jonas... "Not with him."

Just then the sound of the gate klaxon sounded followed by Walters voice. "Unscheduled off-world activation!"

"Go." Janet said to Sam giving a reassuring smile.

Sam got up from the chair heading to the gate room.

))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Jack just entered when the gate shut down. Daniel had remained in his spot staring at Nina as she walked down the ramp.

"Dr. Jackson...she looked over at Jack..."Colonel."

"What are you doing here?" he asked.

"I have...something that I need to..share with you...she answered as Sam entered the room... "You and you're General."

Jack was quiet for a moment before he stepped aside. "Fine."

Nina walked in the direction of the briefing room when she stopped. Turning she nervously asked.

"Is it is possible to have Dr. Fraiser with you as well?"

The trio shared wary looks with each other before they followed her to the briefing room.

)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Janet had just entered the briefing room sensing the tension she looked at Hammond. "Sir?"

"Have a seat doctor." he stated.

She did just that her attention turning to Nina who in return cleared her throat looking to the general.

"Thank you for agreeing to meet with me. When she received a nod she continued... "I have potentially an antidote to cure Jonas Quinn."

"A cure?" Daniel asked skeptical.

Nina felt the bitterness toward her. "Listen I know our planets have never seen eye to eye, but our intentions have always been good."

"You know we have a saying on earth about good intentions." Jack stated.

"You said potentially you have an antidote. Is it in the beginning stages or is it something preventing from getting you further in your work?" Sam asked sensing she was keeping something from them.

"A little of both. Kelowna isn't as advanced in there medical field as earth's is." Nina stated.

"In order to start work on a cure means you have an idea with what the cause is." Janet threw out.

"Do you doctor?" general also prodded.

At the stares in her direction she got up from her seat looking out the large window. "How is he?"

"Not good. We have him stable for now just prolonging the inevitable. We may be more advanced then kelowna..but we have our limits to treatment on diseases. Eventually we will not be able to keep him alive." Janet responded.

At those words Nina closed her eyes deep regret in the pit of her stomach. "He may have a chance. A slim one but it is a chance."

"How?" Daniel asked glancing at the people at the table.

"I'm afraid I haven't been entirely truthful with my findings." Nina confessed.

Jack bit back his thoughts forcing himself to ask politely. "Could you care to elaborate?"

Nina turned to look at Janet"I have left out details in my report that could have helped you in his treatment Dr. Frasier."

Janet gave a disapproving look. "What possible reason could you come up with to justify that?"

Nina clasped her hands together as she paced the floor slightly. "No reason I say is good but...I do have one... she looked at the people at the table.

"I am not Kelownan but of Terrainian descent."

"You're joking?!" Sam shot out in shock... "How long have..."

"Seven years altogether. "I was assigned to Kelowna at the mention of life from another planet came to Langara. Learning of Jonas's travels through the stargate heightened my government to find out what his findings could provide. When Anubis invaded our planet it enforced my governments suspicions. In an act of security I was told to shadow Mr. Quinn's movements."

"And report back to your goverment." Sam finished.

"I know you must think I am a monster." she began when Jack interrupted.

"No. We don't think. Jonas has been the most compassionate and loyal guy you could get out of your planet. And this is how you treat him?" Daniel added.

Nina crossed her arms guilt on her face. "I admit my intent was to..betray him and to bring back what I discovered..but." she trailed off not meeting the accusing eyes... "Is he conscious?"

"He has been comatose for almost a week. How did you intend to.." Janet couldn't finish the question angry at the information she has learned.

Nina glanced over at her before heading back to the window. At first they think she wouldn't respond until her voice became strong.

"It was going fine...until certain obstacles were thrown my way. I had to improvise."

"Sorry your plan backfired." Jack shot out sarcasm in his words.

She turned looking at the colonel. "Colonel I went against my goverments orders and I tried to conjure up a remedy to cleanse his system. Now I believe I have done that...I just need what you called tretogen an antibiotic. To boost his ability to handle the cure."

"You have got to be joking." Janet stated leaning back in her chair.

"I take my work seriously Dr. Fraiser. I always prefer to work on the side of caution. I learned that Jonas was someone who was capable at many things. Working with him the last few years I have.."

"You love him." Sam said causing everyone to look at her. She crossed her arms... "Do you think I didn't notice the chemistry between you two?"

Nina sighed. "I never planned on it."

"Yet it did." Teal'c finally spoke.

"Once I have finished my cure for him I will return back to my goverment. He and Earth will not have to worry about me again. I have not breathed a word about your secrets."

"How can I trust you?" Hammond stated.

"Jonas isn't the only one who shows compassion." she answered.

'Medical emergency in the infirmary. Medical emergency code blue.'

Without permission or another word Janet got up out of her chair and dashed out of the room. Sg1 closely behind her.

By the time Janet entered the infirmary it was high intensity as a nurse was doing compression on Jonas another pushing around of epi.

"What happened?" Janet asked as she jumped right in taking control of the situation.

"He lost a pulse. I started doing CPR one round of epi and no response." A nurse said filling in.

"How long has-" Janet was interrupted by the sudden loud sharp extended beat... "Push another round of epi give me the paddles!"

The first nurse push the med in as another handed Janet the paddles. Rubbing them together she gave the order.

"Charge to 200..CLEAR!"

Everyone watched as she pressed the paddles to his chest and sent the current through his body. After the third time everyone expected the worse. When there was no response janet tried again.

"Jonas you've done better than this! C'mon c'mon!" she tried again but received the same resualt.

Nina stepped forward taking out the small case from her jacket. "Doctor."

Janet looked at her. Then shook her head. "No I am not going to risk his life with what concoction you made up!"

"Doctor Fraiser! I care that he lives! What else can you do? Give him this! Take it!" Nina desperatly pleaded.

"Janet. Do it." Jack interrupted.

After a brief second she took the needle from the Andari. Taking the IV she pushed the medicine through.

Everyone stood in the room the sound of the monitor making the tense moment only tenser. Janet wait another second grabbing the paddles. Just as she was going to place it on his chest a instant struggle for breath then a gasp as the monitor showed a sign of vital signs.

Janet quickly handed the paddles back to her nurse. Removing her stethoscope from her neck she pressed the cool metal on Jonas chest she cleared her throat. Her voice shaky.

"He's back...I'll have to..." she looked over at Nina... "Do you have anything else you're hiding?"

"It was only a.."

Janet shook her head. "Whatever it was it saved his life...for now."

"I take it that was the so called 'cure'."

Nina looked over at Jack. "Yes...but it does not last as long as I want it too. I need tretogens effects to make it more potent, stronger, or else this is just a temporary fix."

"Either way.. I want everyone out. Let me focus on my patient." Janet ordered.

Recognizing the authoritve tone in her voice no one questioned her. General hammond stepped aside holding out his hand.

"Dr. Wing. This way please."

Deciding not to press on her opinion she did as asked followed by Sg-1.

)))))))))

Sam poked her fork at the pork chop that had gotten cold on her plate lost in thought.

"Do you mind if I join you?"

She looked up at Jack who for once had nothing in his hands. Usually food was a buffer when it came to hard conversations.

"Sure." she said solemnly.

Jack took out the chair across from her. After a moment of silence Jack spoke. "I really honestly don't need to ask you if what you think what Dr. Wing offered is a bad idea."

Sam looked at him. "That's the thing sir...I think it is the exact opposite."

"I beg your pardon?" Jack shot back.

Sam sighed. "I know it isn't ideal but it is the only shot Jonas has to survive."

"Maybe it's the pork chop or lack of sleep but...everything this planet has offered us has been... anything but good. You could say naquadria was a hit...but after several near misses. I just don't trust her."

"I know. I don't either but if she is able to come up with a perfected antidote Jonas lives. That isn't what's bothering me."

"Oh?"

Sam pushed her plate aside looking at her friend. "Tretogen is not something to fool around with."

"Teal'c is on it and he's fine."

"Yeah that is because the tolkra had modified it for Gou'ld physiology. I don't think adding tretogen to Jonas blood stream will benefit him. The pangaren's were dependent on it by itself. The effects of gou'ld blood in him may backfire. Big time."

"Jonas isn't like us. We know he is special." Jack reminded.

Sam shook her head. "It doesn't sit right with me...but if it keeps Jonas alive. I'll go for it. It's not with out it's risks."

Jack leaned back in his chair. "I hear ya... Jonas knew what was happening to him. Maybe he is ready to you know."

Sam gave a frown. "I don't think so sir. Jonas isn't a quitter."

Another moment of silence passed by before any of them spoke.

"Is Daniel with Nina?"

"Yeah. He and T. I left them there to hash things out. I was going to pop in on Jonas but Fraiser would kill any of us if we came with in twenty feet of the place. I haven't seen her that miffed since the Cassie and Niritti incident."

Sam rested her hands on the table. "She is giving ounce of her attention to save him. No distractions. I don't blame her I'd ask for the same thing."

Just then a SF came to their table. "Sirs message from doctor Fraiser. "Mr. Quinn...he's conscious."

Both shared a look with each other as they both quickly got up from the table and left the mess hall.

))))

Janet ran her pen light over Jonas eyes for the umpteenth time. He raised his hand to stop her. "Can you take a break from that. My vision is blurry enough without the help of a light shining in my eyes."

Janet clicked off the light. "It's important...how do you feel?"

"Not so hot. What happened?" he weakly asked.

"You collapsed-"

"In my quarters..Jack... was with me." he groggily replied

"Yeah and you scared the heck out of him." janet answered with a soft smile

Jonas gave a feeble smile but it ended with a grimace. Janet looked over at the monitor frowning. "You have a fever. Keeping an eye on that. What would you?..."

She trailed off as Jonas drifted off to sleep. She looked over at her nurse. "Rotate ice every hour."

"Janet."

Janet looked over to see Jack and Sam enter the infirmary."

"What are you two doing here?"

"We were told Jonas was conscious." Sam explained.

Janet placed her pen light in her pocket. "Barely. Woke for a couple minutes then fell back asleep."

"But he woke up. Isn't that a good sign?" Jack asked.

"A silver lining to a harsh cloud. He has a fever keeping him, cool with ice. He remembers why he was in here but that was pretty much the sum of our conversation."

"That's something. Considering his memory was a bit shaky there for awhile." Jack stated but looked at both women who stared at him in surprise.

"Are you sure?" Janet inquired.

Jack rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah...he told me everything back in his office. He knew especially that his memory wasn't as great as it used to be."

"What else did he tell you?" Janet asked hopefully.

"Nothing that you don't already know. Memory and attacks of pain every once in awhile."

Janet looked back at Jonas then back at her friends. "Where is Dr. Wing now?"

"With Daniel and Teal'c. Why?" Sam asked suddenly becoming worried.

"I knew something was off. I was working under the fact that he was poisoned but what if it's something else?"

"Like what?"

"An implant. Something that isn't detected by any of our machines."

"An implant? Of what?" Sam pressed on.

" I intend to find out... Janet looked to her staff... "Notify me if anything changes."

Janet looked to Jack. "Sir...Nina isn't a spy. She's an assassin and her attempts have failed because she didn't account on Jonas's physiology. We need to break her to get the answers we need."

"Janet. If you don't mind I'd like to stay here with him." Sam interrupted.

Janet nodded before she and Jack hurried out of the room. Sam walked over to where Jonas lay sitting in the empty chair. She took hold of his hand in hers.

"Hang in there Jonas."
