Can you all please check out my story called Murder in the Jury Room. I wrote it for an English project, and I would seriously appreciate some feedback on it. It's a Twelve Angry Men fic. Thanks a bunch!
Brielle and Cassie held each other's hands tightly as the Sorting Hat finished its song. Both girls were extremely nervous for the sorting. They didn't want to be separated. Neither girl had been apart from the other for longer than a few minutes since they were eight. They were best friends and practically twin sisters. They literally did everything together.
"Black, Brielle," Minerva called out.
Brielle nervously let go of Cassie's hand and walked up to stand in front of her Aunt Minnie. Minerva smiled down at the young girl as she hopped up onto the stool. No matter what people said about the Blacks, the entire family would always hold a special place in her heart, even the mangy mutt.
Once Brielle was comfortably situated, Minerva gently placed the Sorting Hat on her head. Brielle sat in silence as the hat began to whisper to her, completely unaware of the whispers and glares coming from around her.
Hm, the hat hummed in Brielle's mind. A muggleborn in the Black family. If you're grandmother knew of this, she'd have a heart attack. Of course, I'm quite sure your father marrying your mother is what did the old hag in to begin with.
Are you the Sorting Hat? Brielle thought.
But of course, dear girl, the hat replied. Now let's see. Hm, quite a bit of knowledge in here. And undying loyalty to your family as well. But let's see, ah, yes. It better be...
"GRYFFINDOR!" the hat shouted aloud.
Brielle quickly took off the hat and handed it to Minerva before running off to the Gryffindor table. There was no clapping for her, only shocked whispers. Glares were being sent from around the table at Brielle.
"Black, Cassiopeia," Minerva said loudly over the whispers.
Cassie went up to the stool and sat down. Minerva placed the hat upon her head.
Another Black child? the hat asked in Cassie's mind. Hm, a lot like your sister, aren't you? And you aren't even blood related! Hmph. Yes, most definitely...
"GRYFFINDOR!" the hat shouted.
Cassie smiled with relief. She wouldn't be separated from her sister.
Pulling the hat off and setting it on the stool, Cassie ran over to sit next to her sister. As soon as she was seated, Brielle pulled her into a hug.
"We're together," she whispered excitedly in Cassie's ear.
"Me too," Cassie whispered back, wrapping her arms tightly around her sister.
With the last first year sorted, Yates, Anwen, who was sorted into Gryffindor, the feast began. Cassie and Brielle both halfheartedly piled their food onto their plates. Both girls tried to ignore the glares being sent their way and all of the hushed whispers surrounding them.
"Hello," a girl's voice said, and both girls snapped their heads to where the sound had come from.
"Hi," Brielle replied to the girl who had sat on the other side of her sister. "I'm Brielle." Brielle stuck out her hand for a firm handshake. The girl ignored her.
"I know," she said. "You and your sister are the murderer's daughters." At this, all the people in hearing range turned their heads to the three girls.
"What's your point?" Brielle snarled, glaring heavily at the brunette girl. Cassie placed her hand on her sister's shoulder.
"She's not worth it," Cassie whispered in Brielle's ear. Brielle just shrugged her off.
"My point," the girl sneered, "is that you two don't belong here. Why don't you just crawl back to your Death Eater parents?"
The slight to their mother and father had worked its charm. If Brielle had been angry before, then Cassie was beyond furious now.
"Watch your mouth," Cassie gritted out through clenched teeth. "Our mother is ten times the person you could ever hope to be. I suggest you back down now."
The girl glared at Cassie, but, none the less, turned away. The people who had been listening in on the disagreement turned back to their friends and began whispering again.
"You know what I said about not being able to wait until we got to Hogwarts?" Brielle asked. "I changed my mind."
"Me too," Cassie sighed.
Dear Snuffles,
Hey, it's Cass. Brie is here with 're in our new dorm right now. All of the other girls have already gone to 're all ignoring us . Brie thinks it's because of who our dad is. I think that's a stupid reason, though. They're just bullies, like back at our old school.
Anyway, you'll never guess what house we got in. Brie and I both got into Gryffindor! Brie is writing to Mum now to tell her . I think she was secretly hoping at least one of us would be in Ravenclaw. I'm just glad Brie and I are still together. We're even in Harry's house! That's really good , because otherwise I don't think we'd have any friends.
I love you Snuffles!
Love,
Cassie
Dear Mummy,
Cass and I miss you, Mummy! I know it's only been less than a day, but it feels like forever. Tell Uncle Chris, Aunt Dorcas, and Riley Cassie and I say hi and that we miss them!
Guess what, Mummy! Cassie and I got in the same house. We're both in Gryffindor together. We're super excited to be together. Harry's in our house too. So far he and Draco have been the only one's who were nice to Cassie and me. They're all glaring at us because of Dad. I'm kind of glad we're not in Ravenclaw, because then we'd never have anyone to talk to.
I love you bunches!
Love,
Brie Brie
P.S. Cassie says hi and that she loves you!
Leanna sighed as she came back from walking Bagel. It had been a long day, and she no longer had her daughters to look forward to coming home to. Was it possible for her to get Empty Nest Syndrome? Shaking her head, Leanna walked into the kitchen to put Bagel's leash away.
Her eyes widened as she spotted two daunting figures standing by her kitchen table.
