(This chapter, BTW, is chock-full of emotional bumps. xD)
The Doctor soon stepped outside to join Rose, concerned on what had prompted her to say that. "Oh... That can't be very good..." He mumbled, staring at the horror in front of them. Rose shuddered, and The Doctor instantly knew she was about to cry. He turned to her and she collapsed into his chest.
"I can't believe this happened! How could we ever lose! My whole kind, reduced to evil dwellers forever! Weeping angels, imprisoned by the Demons! How could they ever win, I'd never let them!" She screamed in fear and anger, warm tears flowing from her doe eyes. The Doctor hugged her tightly to himself.
"I don't know, Rose. I promise you, I won't left them touch you or they won't live to see another hellish day." He said strongly. She pulled away, walking slowly to the edge of the doomed hill.
"There's nothing left, Doctor. I'll be reduced to a weeping angel as well, no matter what you may try to do..." She admitted sadly.
"Then...we can just stay inside the Time Vortex, it doesn't effect you there." He tried. She whirled to face, disgust on her face.
"I will not leave my people behind in their last battle! My place, above all, is with them. We are the last of the angels, Doctor. If they are going to die, then I will too, but with them. I can't just left them suffer and survive." She hissed angrily. He grabbed her wrist in a sudden anger of his own. Rose saw it in his eyes, the same she saw on the TARDIS. But this time, she didn't flinch away, she held her ground.
"You cannot scare me anymore, Doctor. Not even with your Oncoming Storm in your eyes, not even with the fire of two races burning to their extinction, nothing you do will make me flinch anymore! I AM NOT YOUR PET!" She screamed, then instantly regretted it. She watched his eyes light with a rage she'd never seen before.
Back, she staggered away from his grip and squeaked in dismay at the sight of horrors. Her hand, the one The Doctor held gripped in his not long before, was changing. Turning gray and hard. She gulped, looking around furiously for other Weeping Angels. She saw two behind The Doctor.
"Doctor! MOVE!" She screamed, the yelped in pain as the gray color spread up her arm. The Doctor finally seemed to snap out of his trace as he side-stepped, turning around to see a cold, stone hand in his face. With a swift kick he knocked them both down to the ground. He turned to face Rose, who away writhing on the ground, her whole body slowly turning gray and cold.
"Run! Before I turn and hunt you!" She screamed at him. She looked at him with utter fear when he came closer, a fire still dominant in his eyes.
"You will not leave me, Rose Tyler!" He announced with a stern anger, scooping her body into his arms and quickly returning to the safety of the TARDIS. Rose gasped for her breath now, the gray color now up to her torso. The Doctor sent the TARDIS flying into the Time Vortex, thinking it'd stop the process.
"Doctor, no! You have to get me away from here! Send me to an alien planet so I can't hurt anyone! If it takes hold in here, I'll be able to kill the whole universe! You can't stop this, all of the other angels are gone! They won't be able to come to Earth's rescue and free us from our evil form!" She cried in dismay.
"There's gotta be some way to reverse or stop this! Don't tell me it's impossible, Rose!" The Doctor shouted in anger. What a fool he had been, he never should've given her this opportunity. He should've known it would hurt her! He'd been too eager to impress her and get on her good side.
"I don't know any other way! There probably isn't another one!" Rose gasped out in pain. Her chest heaved with great effort to breathe. Everything in her body was turning stone.
The Doctor's mind was going a mile a minute, trying to think of some way to cure his Rose. Nothing could stop him from at least trying to save her. It had to be good, right? Good overall or good to her? He didn't have Time for this! Slowly, he turned to face her, her pain clearly shown on her pale face. It was the Demon's last payback before they go to work for them...
Rose was almost unable to get a breath out now, the gray virus coming up to her head next. She was almost out of time. She lay on the floor of the TARDIS, breathing ragged and choked. She felt a hand on her cheek, and saw The Doctor kneeling before her. She looked at him in disbelief. What was he doing?! He had to get her out of the TARDIS and away from him! His thumb stroked her face softly, and Rose's eyes closed.
"Don't leave me, I need you..." The Doctor mumbled to her softly, no louder than a whine. Rose found that she couldn't open her mouth to answer, much less do anything. She just lay there, her eyes now open just to stare at him. To her shock and surprise, he was crying. The Doctor never cried, not in this body, no. He was a tough man, not soft. Rose kept gazing up at him, her eyes telling him everything.
Don't be sad.
I'm just glad I met you.
Remember me.
...I...
I love you.
The Doctor shook his head. "I can't go on without you. Please don't leave me." He pleaded with her softly. Rose pleaded with her eyes.
You have to run.
Get me out of the TARDIS.
The damage I'll do if I turn inside.
Everything in this universe will die.
Even you.
Do not die for my mistakes.
Doctor, the universe needs you.
LIVE FOR ME!
The Doctor bit his lip. He didn't want to live without her. Ever. He wouldn't let himself live without her. Slowly, he leaned down until their faces with almost touching. "Rose Tyler..." He whispered. Her eyes felt wet, and she realized she was crying now. She just watched him as he inched his face closer and she realized what he was going to do.
"Rose, I'm so sorry I couldn't save you..." He despaired. "I wanted to show you so many places I thought you'd like to see. So many places..." He trailed off. He had her in his arms now, cradling her rapidly changing body. Her wings were stone now. "Even if I couldn't show you those places, I will never regret the time I had got to spend with you." He continued sadly.
Neither do I, Doctor.
"Rose Tyler... You were making me better. I'd come from a terrible war, and you made me remember how it is to have emotion..." The Doctor remembered. "And, I guess if it's my only chance to say it..." He continued once more. The TARDIS began to realize what was happening to Rose and didn't like it. She started to shake violently, sparks were flying everywhere.
The Doctor ignored the TARDIS and leaned down. With the last ounce of courage and sanity he had left, he kissed Rose. Rose didn't know what to feel, even if she could, but something started to change. She felt... well, feeling in her legs, arms, and body again. Her eyes opened up again, to see a white light around herself and The Doctor. He pulled away almost in alarm, stumbling back into the TARDIS's console, which, to his relief, stopped shaking and sparking.
The room was now filled with the white light and The Doctor had to shut his eyes, it was so bright. But when he opened them again, he saw Rose floating in the air, white wings outstretched to a great span, her human clothes shining with a pearl-like gleam. Her eyes sparkled, the deep brown color mesmerizing him. A golden halo above her head, and in her hands was a shifting sphere of light. Slowly, she sunk to the floor, and her arms came out stretched almost as far as her wings. The shifting sphere stayed in the air in front of her.
"Wha... Rose...?" He asked. Her eyes then seemed to focus on him, and suddenly the sphere of light turned a bright gold. It flowed into two streams of energy, going into her eyes and disappearing. Her eyes glowed gold for a second, then faded to brown. The halo disappeared, and all the blinding white light faded away. Rose's eyes then rolled back into her head as she fell forward.
"Woah now!" The Doctor bolted up and caught her. As soon as he came into contact with her, He felt that something had changed, something was different now. Her skin seemed to radiate a small shade of light, and he almost shuddered as he remembered how she'd looked a few seconds ago. She looked beautiful, but terribly powerful. What the heck had he done?
The Doctor didn't know if she'd be able to remember the whole event. It'd seemed like it was too much for her, She hadn't been able to even focus on him for very long. That didn't matter, all he cared about that she was safe. Safe, back with him.
The Doctor fully lifted her up into his arms. He seemed to be doing that a lot. He strolled down the TARDIS hallways, looking for a spare room for her to have. After all, he couldn't leave her lying on the floor. That didn't seem comfortable, and he didn't want Rose in discomfort. She'd been in enough pain already today.
Finally he found a room that was a spare. He pushed the door open and carefully set her down on the spare bed inside. He watched her for a moment. Something had definitely changed in her. Her face seemed to be... more hard, not as carefree as it once was. That's a shame, he loved to see her carefree. She was so beautiful that way. But the peaceful moment ended there, because the sound of bells rang through the TARDIS.
"Oh no, what is it now?!" He hissed under his breath, rushing off to the console room. The TARDIS seemed to be making a fuss about staying inside the Time Vortex for this long. She was still unsure if she wanted to stay in it while Rose was still unstable. The Doctor rolled his eyes, frustrated with her. Nevertheless, he had the TARDIS land back before the darkness had fell.
He looked down at the console and his hand caught his eye. He was...shaking. The Doctor hadn't realized he was actually pretty shaken about the whole event that had happened. For once, something had scared him. His eye twitched a little. Maybe he needed some rest. Yeah, maybe that would be good.
He went down the hallway, looking behind him once before going into a room at the very end of the hall. His room.
So, yay! I hope those 9/Rose shippers are happy. XD there was a ton of angst and sadness... :P maybe not much angst..
Anyways, yeah! Stuff happened, and I'll work on ch. 8 as soon as I can!
