A/N: Starlight Eclipse
Hey everyone! I know, probably not the story you were expected to update. I guess I should probably explain where I've been for the past few...whatever.
I don't know, things have been weird with writing. It seems all I end up focusing on are the things I'm dissatisfied with every time I think of picking up the proverbial pen. If I do write, it would probably end up being on an entirely new project. And I don't have anywhere near the beginnings of plot, characters, all that stuff that you need to have thought out before you jot down a single word. I'm also not looking for any PMs along the lines of "I really enjoyed your work, you should keep going." It's a personal problem, and always has been. Although if you have enjoyed my writing, thank you for the kind words all the same.
That's not to say I'm 100% retired, at least not yet. About two months ago, a user by the pen name of Concurrentsky sent me a message. They read this story, Eclipse, and thought that it had a lot of untapped potential. And since I clearly wasn't doing anything with it, they were wondering if they could take a crack at it. I obliged, and shared all the world-building documents and plot outlines I had created and now... long story short I'm the beta reader for a complete and total rewrite/continuation of this story, now titled Starlight Eclipse.
I have to admit, it's actually been a lot of fun so far. All the joys and rewards of writing with all the hardest parts already done for you. I also do want to sincerely say that Concurrentsky is a good writer, and I like the direction they've taken with the story. The main plot for the first six chapters is identical to what I have here, but they add a lot more in as well. Some more minor details to flesh out the world a bit more, and some very sorely needed scenes of character development that this version certainly lacked. So on the whole, yes, I do think it's an improvement over my version. And that is due in part to some of the helpful points of advice we were able to garner from some of the reviews left on this story, so thank you again to everyone who chipped in their two cents. It really does help us a lot in the end.
So why am I shamelessly plugging another writer's work now of all times? Because as of the time of me writing this, they have just published chapter seven of their version of Eclipse. In other words, their story is no longer a rewrite of what I've done, but a continuation. So if there is anyone else out there legitimately interested in seeing where this story was going to go next, go check out Starlight Eclipse in the Spyro fanfiction archive. Alternatively, it's a pretty well put together story that's been regularly updating every two weeks or so, if that interests you more. Just be sure to read their version all the way through, like I said there's been enough changes with some of the minor plot points that you would be adequately lost if you just jumped directly to their chapter seven.
So yeah, go check out Starlight Eclipse if you got the time. Unlike mine, it's a unique enough title that it shows up at the top of a google search with "Starlight Eclipse Spyro", but that's work, so see if you can't just copy and paste this link into your browser. (Note, I accept no responsibility if this doesn't work)

For their first fiction story, I can say that Concurrentsky is already a great writer, and they have the potential to be so much more. So while I'm sure they're very appreciative of your views, they would also love to hear any opinions on their take on Eclipse, good or bad. I might even go so far as to say especially bad, because how else are writers going to improve? So feel free to drop them a line, or at very least enjoy a well written Spyro Fanfiction. I'd say that's a win-win either way.
Now, it comes to my attention that Fanfiction does have a policy forbidding updates that are solely just authors notes. I've never heard of this policy actually being enforced, but I still like to cover all my bases. So here, is my full, uncut version of the seventh chapter of Eclipse.
Chapter 7: An Unexpected End
Everything worked out and everyone lived happily ever after.

A/N: There, it's done, finished, there is nothing more to see here. This is B1ackbird, signing off.
