Did You See The Flares In The Sky?

Peter walked down the street to his flat, feeling the hairs on the back of his neck stand up, he looked over his shoulder into the shadowy night, trying to shake off the unsettling feeling, he sped up into a power walk. As he turned the corner a red beam hit him in the back, causing him to fall to the ground, head hitting the pavement, he groaned, turning onto his back. Blinking to clear his vision, he looked up to see a man with shaggy black hair and a fedora sitting on top of his head walking towards him with a menacing smirk.

"Hello, Pettigrew." Rabastan Lestrange drawled, looming over the fallen man, he summoned his wand, twirling it between his fingers mockingly, "Now, let's resume our talk, shall we? I would really rather just kill you and be done with it but for some reason My Lord thinks you can be of use so I'm here to make you an offer."

"'That I can't refuse?'" Peter referenced snidely, smirking weakly up at him; eyes darkening, Rabastan roughly kicked the scrawny man in the stomach, making him groan in pain as he curled into himself.

"Funny man, aren't you? I mean, that is really all you're good for, isn't it? Being the funny man, the butt of the joke?" Rabastan insulted, going for his weak spot, making him flinch even though he hadn't been hit or cursed. "Now maybe offer is the wrong word for it, offer implies that you have a choice. You don't. You either work with us or die, simple as that."

"Go to hell." Peter spat, glaring up at the Death Eater; sighing theatrically, Rabastan grinned dementedly, the torture curse on the tip of his tongue. Looking around wildly, Peter tried to think of some way out of this that didn't end with him betraying his friends.

"Look, Pete, if something… weird happens and you're in danger just yell for Paige or Leo, okay. I know, I know; it sounds strange but just trust me, mate."

What the hell, what did he have to lose? "Paige! Paige, I need help! Paige!" Peter yelled at the top of his lungs, trying to ignore how much it was hurting his ribs

"Aw, who's Paige? Your little girlfriend?" Rabastan mocked condescendingly, bending down next to the injured man, he pulled out a dagger, deciding to go with a more bloody method then the Cruciatus curse, that really was more his brother and sister-in-law's preferred method, he was really more of a hands on kind of man.

Before he could do anymore damage to Peter, a voice cut through the still silence of the night, "Creepy man!" Blue and white orbs swallowed Rabastan whole, slamming him into the concrete wall, he crumpled to the ground, knocked out. Looking over in the direction the voice had come from, Peter saw Paige jogging over to him with a slightly worried expression on her face. Bending down next to the man, Paige looked him over, cataloging the bloody cut on his forehead, the bruise on his cheek, and the way he was clutching at his ribs.

"I'm going to take you to Sirius and Remus, okay? We'll get you all patched up." Paige told him, laying her hands on his shoulders and orbing them back to Sirius and Remus' flat.

Well, there you have it, Peter has been redeemed.

Some of you may say he wouldn't be that brave but he was sorted into Gryffindor, there had to be a reason for that. Also, if he had been some wimpy annoying little coward, I doubt the Marauders would have liked him very much, never mind become best friends with him. He had to have some sort of bravery and loyalty. And the Marauders seem like great friends, I can't see him just betraying them without a second thought but in the original timeline Peter didn't have anybody to call that could just immediately come to his rescue like Paige did and that action is going to change a lot of things.
