Inuyasha (revised)

Ch. 7: Blast from the Past

I was quickly knocked out by the demon after I tried to fight her off, bad idea that was. When I woke up, I found myself tied up and in a bathtub full of foul smelling, greenish colored liquid that the demon Uresuei was pouring into the tub.

"What the hell is that?! What the hell is happening?! It smells horrible, get it away from me!" I exclaimed out of frustration.

"You are an insolent one, are you not!" The demon said bitterly, then she pulled up the vase containing the foul smelling liquid she was pouring into the tub up, stopping it from going into the tub any further. "There, that should do it"

"What's in this, anyway?" I asked coldly

Just as I said that, a girl with long black hair in a red and white priestess outfit came walking out, then blankly stared at me. I couldn't help but think she looked similar me with her long black hair and chocolate brown eyes. Could this be?...no way.

"Who..are you?"

Bother the demon and the girl ignored me.

"So, you're dressed? The attire of a priestess is fitting and flatters your good looks. I have done well to reshape your body with human bones and graveyard soil" The demon said to the other girl, then looked towards me. "Now, all you require is a human soul"

"What the hell are you talking about, you crazy hag?!"

"My magical herbal potion will soon suck the soul out of your very body! Kikyo shall have her soul, and you shall be among the living dead"

Suck out my soul?...then…no, way….this really is Kikyo!

Just then, the foul smelling liquid that was surrounding me in the tub began glowing and freezing me in place, rendering me unable to move. I tried as hard as I could to move, but the liquid always kept me in place. As time went on, it became more diffiult to concentrate on anything, even when I fought my hardest. I didn't understand at first, but now I knew what the demon meant by "You need a soul". My soulwas my soul being pulled out from my body, but I fought the pull against my soul, I won't let her have my soul.

"This young lass differs somehow, some of my other victims would have fallen faint by this point" I faintly heard the demon say.

"That light! The girl possesses a fragment of the shikon jewel! How very fortuities for me!"

Within the next moment, my whole body felt light and my stomach turned violently. It felt as if a strange energy was looming over me at that point. Not too long later, the energy looming over me was gone and I had completely blanked out.

Next thing I know, I'm looking through the eyes of someone completely different from me, though it felt more like trying to look clearly through mud. I could never have a clear visual, but I could tell what was happening. I was facing Inuaysha, and the whole time, I saw his face go from angered to confused to sad, and I didn't quite know why. I must be seeing things from Kikyo's perspective. Then I saw myself grab Kaede's bow and arrows from her hand and shoot at Inuyasha, and there was nothing I could do to stop Kikyo from shooting that arrow. I felt energy charge and be powerfully released. It was unlike anything I had ever felt before. That must be Kikyo's spiritual power. Wow, she's way more powerful than me.

She shot again at Inuyasha, but this time was different. There was more anger, more hatred, and above all else, more power, so much power that not even the Tessaiga could withstand it. I couldn't stand to watching anymore, I couldn't stand by while Inuyasha was getting hurt, we were a team after all. Just then, I felt myself reclaiming my soul and everything started to leave from Kikyo and enter back into my body.

When I felt the last of my soul settle back into my body once again was when I was finally conscious again. I was on the ground with everyone huddled around me. Everyone but Inuaysha.

"Kagome, are you okay?!" Shippo called out when I had opened my eyes.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm fine" I said groggily. "where's Inuyasha?"

Shippo and Kaede were silent for a second, then Kaede finally spoke.

"He is after my sister, for she still has a piece of your soul still in her and is now running away"

My eyes became huge, "That idiot! We need to get him! She's dangerous! Where's Uresuea?! How-" I was interrupted by Kaeda.

"Patience, child. Inuyasha can do just fine on his own. You need to rest your body"

I narrowed my eyes and looked away, and then I took a breath. "What just happened?"

Kaede and Shippo then explained the events that had happened when I was unconscious.

"Well, it's good thing Ursue's dead now, but I don't know about Kikyo. She's definitely dangerous, we have to go find Inuyasha-" Kaede cut me off once again.

"Not right now"

It was not long after that Inuyasha had come back once again. He looked sullen. I got up immediately.

"Inuysha!" I yelled out to him as I met him half way, I didn't know what else to say to him.

He only walked right passed me and said dryly "let's go!"

I looked back at him and said to him with heavy sarcasm "Oh, yeah. Just got my soul sucked out of me, but I'm doing just fine! Thanks for asking, Inuyasha!"

He looked back at me, "Well, you seem to be doing just fine to me", then started walking on again.

"Where are you going?!" I asked, irritated.

"Back to the village to take Kaede back. You coming, or what?!"

I met Kaede's and Shippo's gazes before walking back to the village once again.

For most of the way, we walked back to the village in silence. The quietest was Inuyasha, which was something all of us were not used to. It was very unsettling. Every time I looked over at him, he was stuck in a daze, thinking about Kikyo.

We got Kaede to the village safely and I got to replace my bow and arrows that I'd lost when the demon kidnapped me. When Kaede was safe in her own home and we were fed, we all went off on our own for a bit. Shippo went to take a nap, Inuyasha went to go sulk in a tree somewhere, and I went off into the forest to brake in my new bow.

I found a good spot in the forest facing a large tree I could take aim at. I took a breath to calm myself and then took my stance. I felt myself relax into my routine as I arched back my bow and found my concentration honed as my muscles tensed and held the arrow back. Then I zeroed in on my point and let go. The arrow swiftly left the safety of my bow and crashed into the tree, exactly where I wanted it to be.

"Bullzeye" I said to myself under my breath, and then I relaxed once more. I looked down at my bow and examined it, not bad. Then I repeated my process, but each time, I every time I shot, I tried my hardest to put all my concentration into it. I wanted to feel the power that I felt when Kikyo was in possession of my soul. I tensed, then let go, and the arrow was a brilliant pink once again. I was glad that I could control this power now, but it still lacked Kikyo's strength. So, I practiced it again and again until I could get it right.

Before I knew it, the sun was starting to set, but I never noticed. I only focused on my arrows, but none of them were coming out like Kikyo's, not even close. I didn't notice it was late out until I heard a voice that snapped me out of my concentration.

"You may be Kikyo's reincarnation, but you're never going to get your arrows like hers" Inuyasha

I turned around to face Inuyasha. He was up in a tree.

Honestly, I wasn't surprised to see him here.

"That's a challenge I'm willing to accept" I told him as I started to collect my things.

All he said in response was "feh"

"And how do you know I won't surpass her?" I asked teasingly.

"Because, I just know! Kikyo is way too powerful in comparison to a weakling like you!"

"Is that so? Am I so weak as to shoot you down with an arrow right now and have it not inflict any damage on you?" I asked as I aimed my bow and arrow at him.

All joking aside, his eyes glossed over, as if he was seeing something that I was not, and was wearing a terrified expression. I put my bow down immediately.

"Inuyasha!" I yelled, but it didn't pull him back.

The only response I got out of him was a "Kikyo, why?"

I went up to him and started shaking his shoulders to try and snap him out of it.

"Inuyasha!"

"Nooo!"

He looked at me and called me Kikyo. And then he did it again. And again. I felt my eyes start to water, but I never took notice. What is this? From anger? Or for sadness?

I shook Inuyasha harder, and finally, he came to.

"…Kagome? Why are you crying?"

I suddenly realized that the liquid that had been filling my eyes had finally spilled out onto my face. I wiped the tears away hastily.

"I was just….scared. You were calling me Kikyo, and….I'm sorry, I shouldn't have raised my bow at you"

Inuyasha turned around quickly to avert his eyes from mine. "I don't know what came over me…..lets go back now, I think it's about time we get some rest. We'll have a full day tomorrow"

I just followed Inuyasha silently as he started walking towards the village. We didn't speak a word to each other for the rest of the night. I'm sure he had been consumed in his thoughts as much as had been that night. We were back on the road again early that next morning.
