I'm terribly sorry for anyone who reads my other stories :( With my school issues and my terrible writers block, I can't seem to write or draw anything lately. I edited this before the terrible problem, so I hope those of you who still read my stuff enjoy a little. I haven't given up on any of my stories, I just can't seem to write anything new at the moment. As always, enjoy!

Fight the Fight

As the sun rose higher in the sky, the group found themselves standing in front of the next gym. Paul felt a faint shiver across his body as he realized what was going to happen. 'I'm going to be fighting other pokemon... and these won't be weak wild pidgey, they'll be trained pokemon. I'm not stupid like this bunch. I bet the loser doesn't even know what moves I can use besides Psychic! Pathetic...'

He took a small step backwards in defiance, feeling slight fear but more annoyance in facing the challenge. "What's wrong Espeon?" Dawn questioned as she looked back at the annoyed pokemon. Paul looked away nervously, not wanting to look weak.

"Ah, you're worried about the fight? Don't worry Espeon, we're going to train beforehand!" Ash told his new pokemon in a calm soothing voice.

Paul let out a loud sigh of relief, alerting Pikachu of his distress. "Ash always trains before a gym battle. Didn't you ever do that with your pokemon? I always thought you were more careful than that..." Said former trainer was too relieved by the fact he wouldn't have to fight to hear Pikachu's jab at his former human life.

"It says on the sign that the gym leader isn't present, so I guess we have lots of time to train now!" Ash announced to the group, but stopped abruptly when his stomach let out a loud growl. Rubbing his tummy and the back of his neck, he let out a sheepish chuckle. "On second thought, we should probably get something to eat! Let's go guys!" Paul slowly followed the gang into the town, noticing the colors of the sky as the sun set on the horizon.

After a fairly quiet dinner, Ash stood up and fixed his hat. "Piiikachu! Eeeespon! It's time for some training!"

The two pokemon sat up from their dinner plates and followed Ash into the open field in front of them. "Okay guys, lets give it our all for this battle!"

"Pika pi!" Pikachu cheered with one paw in the air. Paul continued to glare at the grass without acknowledging the trainer. Ash groaned and leaned down to face the stubborn psychic. "Don't worry Espeon, I'm sure you will do just fine! We can practice your moves without battling first so you get the hang of things."

"I hate you," Paul grumbled as he moved forward.

"Paul!" Pikachu barked, annoyed at the former human's continuous treatment of his friend. Ash seemed unfazed as he stood behind Espeon and called out his first command.

"Okay Espeon, lets start with Calm Mind!"

Paul raised his eyebrows at the order. "Calm mind?...Well it wont kill me to try that move I guess."

Paul closed his eyes and sat perfectly still. "Calm mind... Calm mind..." Slowly but surely as he chanted, all the tension drained from his mind and he was in complete harmony with both of the dimensions. He could feel power rushing through his system and creating a powerful wave to envelope his small form. 'I've never felt anything like this before.' Paul mused as he opened his eyes. "Good job Espeon! That was perfect!" Paul gave his new trainer a pointed glare and puffed out his chest in satisfaction, causing the small audience to sweat drop.

"Lets test Psychic on that tree!" Ash said once his Espeon seemed ready.

Paul shifted into an attack stance and concentrated the intense energy that was building up beneath the veil of the other dimension. As a result, the tree was uprooted from the ground it was planted in. With all his might, Paul forced the tree to fly up into the air before letting his power go. The tree plummeted towards the ground, resulting in it breaking in two with a loud crack echoing the silent atmosphere. Ash's eyes became as wide as saucers as he stared at the wreckage.

"Wow Espeon! That... was... unbelievable Let's try it again, and keep the psychic going to force it to the ground." Paul nodded and once again on levetating the two halves of the tree that had suffered before. Only when the sun set from the sky did Ash call off Espeon and Pikachu's training.

"Your a pretty fast learner Espeon, I'm really impressed! And Pikachu, you did great buddy!" The young trainer praised as he rubbed both their heads. "Pi Pika Pi!" Pikachu gleamed at the praise. Paul grunted and attempted weakly to move his head away from the warm hand.

"At least I learned what other moves you have Espeon. Is it possible for you to use shadow ball though? I'm sure it will really come in handy in the future."

Said Espeon nodded and moved to where the last unmarred tree stood, eyes narrowed in concentration. 'I'll show this loser what real power is like.'

With the mindset to make Ash marvel at his new skills, Paul closed his eyes and opened the other dimension, scouting for the energy needed to pull off the move. It wasn't very long before he found dark energy drifting about in the otherwise well lit space. He opened his mouth as far as it would go and concentrated the dark energy between his sharp fangs. With all his might, Paul let loose the energy and hurled it at an impressive speed at the lone tree. With a snap, the shadow ball connected and broke what was left of the wood into pieces before disintegrating.

After the move, Paul started feeling exhaustion seep into his limbs and make his body as heavy as lead. The other dimension of psychic power Paul had steadily grown used to was closed off from his mind due to overuse. Ash walked over to the small creature and scooped him into his arms, making sure he was secure.

"You did awesome today Espeon! You must be really tired. We need to stock up on some sleep before we challenge the gym leader, so lets get some sleep okay?"

Paul wanted to protest from the concern Ash was giving him, yet the warmth and care kept him still as the group walked toward the nearest pokemon center.

Paul was asleep before Ash walked into his room.

And thats a new chapter! I really hope I can get through the wall I'm encountering. Hopefully the wall I'm at will crumble if I get creative :D Hope things turn out ok in the future! And thanks for anyone that tries to stay with me! Until next time.
