Treachery of the White Angel

Chapter 7: Lament and Sweet of the Lamb

Esther opened her eyes to the morning dew and sunlight. On any other day, she would wake up feeling rejuvenated and happy, but this morning was not one of those days. She felt sick and weak, close to unmoving altogether and that scared her. Something moved to her side and she weakly turned to see what it was, eyes widening slightly to meet with unblinking emerald ones. The sun twinkled in the jewel's eyes and showed the tiny specks of brown buried deep in the irises of Shahrzad, her most treasured friend and protector. Esther's eyes welled up with tears, she couldn't have been happier at such a dark time in her life, the last person she wanted to let go had returned to her with open arms.

"Esther" the woman whispered sweetly as she caressed the side of the young woman's pale face. "We meet again"

Esther nodded her head weakly and wiped her tears. "I mis-missed you, my friend" she said through her happiness.

Shahrzad giggled at the red-head and continued to stroke her cheek, relishing in the presence of her best-friend. "Come. You must take a bath and eat, we can't have you getting sick" she said swinging her legs over Esther's bed and getting out of it.

Her long curly brown hair sparkled in the sun's rays and Esther panicked for a moment, Albion didn't have the sun-blocking dome that the Empire had. Visions of the woman burning to a crisp didn't sit well with Esther and gave her a burst of energy. She jumped up and shielded her friend from the sun's rays as best as she could, her eyes squinting tight and waiting for Shahra's screams of agony. The woman, realizing what poor Esther was trying to prevent, giggled up a storm and eventually started to laugh.

Esther opened one eye and tilted her head to the side in question, why wasn't the vampiress burning from the sun's rays like all natural methuselahs do?

"Oh my dear Esther!" Shahrzad giggled. "If you still think the sun and I are enemies than I'm sorry to say that your wrong" she sighed and sat near the windowsill devouring every ray the sun was willing to give. "I'm dead Esther. Dead and brought back to life with methuselah blood still running through my veins, the rules no longer apply" she spoke softly.

Esther was peaked at her friend's response to her revival, involking the young female to question her friend's mindset even further. "What if you were brought back...as a Terran?"

Shahra's widened slightly as she turned around to look at Esther in surprise, when Cain popped into the room out of thin air.

"And that should make you all the more grateful to me, your master" Cain spoke. "Coming back as a Terran would be quite unfortunate" he mused.

This didn't phase either of the two females, Esther was use to such a feature already from Cain, and Shahra familiar with the movement from other vampires.

Esther immediately curtsied to Cain, even though he wasn't facing her nor addressing her specifically. "My lord" she murmured with respect.

His wings folded themselves into his back and disappeared, leaving it bare and un-marked. He smirked evily at Shahra, but never approached her. The noble vampiress returned the look with a glare ,but never bared her fangs. He was right when he said she owed him. He reunited her with Esther and he was responsible for breathing life back into her, as well as Esther who gave her more life to sustain herself. The noble methuselah blood in her restrained her from picking a fight with the blonde-haired man, but her love for Esther made her want to protect her all the more from the Abel look-a-like.

"I will forever be in your debt, for as long as you shall continue to let me live. You will forever have me in your service" Shahra said dutifully, gazing in Cain's eyes as she said so.

Cain smirked in satisfaction, she would be a challenge to break if he ever wished to, but for now he would leave her be. "Well the first order of business would be to shed your empire clothes. If you are truly in allegiance under me, then you will look the part. Issak is getting a uniform for you prepared as we speak, as for your daily orders, you will accompany my delightful pet wherever she wishes to go in her beloved city and bring her back at my say so. If danger of any kind comes to her from within the order then you will dismember them completely, no prisoners. Kill them." he ordered.

Shahra nodded to all the conditions and terms to all of this, there was no hint of deceit or backing down in her eyes. If there was one thing Esther would always remember Shahra for it was her loyalty and the way she never broke her word, even in death. Her service to Cain would never waver, and she would never betray him. Not simply because it meant death for her, but because she had a debt to pay off, and her word meant her life.

A knock on the door sounded and everyone except Cain looked at it.

"Enter" Cain barked.

The door opened to reveal Issac who had quite the sly smile on his face, he always looked like he was up to something.

"Mein Herr" he bowed to Cain while holding a set of clothes in his arms. "I brought the clothes as you asked" he said.

Cain nodded and gestured to Shahra to take the clothes from Issac and she walked over to him, taking the clothes in Issac's hands and heading into the bathroom to change. Esther, who stood near Cain, almost felt abandoned by him. He had hardly spoken a word to her, nor had he even looked at her. She preferred to be abused by him than to be ignored by him completely. At least while he would rape, carve, and bite into her...she at least knew she had his attention. She let her eyes roam over Cain's physique and naked upper-half, biting her lip softly as she gazed down his curved back and towards the crevice of his lower back and arse. Her cheeks started to redden before Issak coughed and murmured something under his breath, smirking into space as he did so. Esther forgot that he could read minds.

She cleared her throat awkwardly and jumped at the click of the bathroom door opening and revealing a beautiful clad in black Shahra. Her Empire attire was folded neatly in her arms as she presented herself to Cain, Issac purring at her in satisfaction. The black dress Issac had brought for Shahra was short and tight fitting for her curves, it had long sleeves that hung loosely on her arms but tightly around her wrists with long elegant slits going down the sleeve itself with knee high white boots and a red banner occupying her right arm. The outlining of the dress was a bright silver. She looked beautiful, as she did in everything she wore.

"Now that you are dressed appropriately, your empire clothing, destroy them" he said flatly and cruelly.

She hesitated at first, looking at the clothing and smothering the fabric between her fingers, before nodding and throwing the clothing in the air and putting her hand out...blowing the piece into smithereens. Esther flinched back from the force and shivered, she wasn't feeling very good. Shahra saw this and smiled apologetically at her precious friend, silently mouthing words of apology.

Cain smirked at the woman's quick obedience, it seemed that loyalty ran through her bloodline. He had gotten lucky with this one.

"Issac" Cain called.

"Yes my lord?"

"Prepare the tank, I must rest for awhile. This body must be making progress, I haven't needed to sleep for quite awhile now" Cain mused.

Issac nodded, pleased. "Right away my lord" he said leaving to do his bidding.

Cain then turned to the two women standing in the room with him. "In the mean time, while I am asleep, I entrust my pet to you" he said to Shahra.

He glanced at Esther for a moment, making eye contact for a short time before disappearing altogether.

The young red haired woman sighed and sat down, the feeling of fatigue settling in her body like anesthia. Shahra saw the drowsiness and frowned, Esther was acting strangely for a human.

"Esther?" She called tilting her head to the side in question. "Are you alright? You'd just awoken not too long ago and you've quickly returned to a sleepy state"

Esther yawned, excusing herself politely afterwards. "I've just been tired lately, Shahra. Don't worry though, I'll be alright"

"And what about food?" The woman inquired.

Esther almost dry heaved at the memory resting in the back of her mind. "No. I'll be well off without it for awhile"

With worried eyes, Shahra finally stopped asking questions and helped the young girl back into bed, pulling the blood red comforter up and over her head so the sunlight wouldn't bother her. Esther fell asleep almost immediately and fell into a deathly, quiet darkness, as she usually did.

Shahra sat at the foot of the bed where Esther slept, it had been four days and three nights since she had last seen the light in her friend's eyes. She was worried, more than worried actually. Shahra's human family needed sleep regularly like most humans did, but she knew for sure it was unnatural for them to sleep this long. They needed food, sunlight , water, and regular day to day activities to keep the body from deteriorating, and Esther had done none of these things for four days and three nights.

She bit her pointy thumbnail nervously as she watched the slow up and down movement of Esther's body, pondering on whether she should wake the young red head up or not, maybe she needed it...Shahra has seen the scars on her and knew that her "caretaker" frequently abused her. Maybe her weird sleeping habits were her body's way of healing her wounds.

Issac rudely floated in the room without knocking, looking around briefly before his eyes landed on the female methuselah sitting cross-legged on the edge of the bed, her attention not wavering for him. He smirked, she didn't have the time of day for him. Issac leaned against the door frame of the room and waited for the beauty to notice him, she was a vampire like he was and should've noticed him by now and he wondered if she was not as strong as she looked. He knew that she was basically a re-animated corpse, but retained her methuselah blood, so the limits of his mind-reading didn't apply to her.

He poked lightly on her brain for entrance and she combed her fingers lightly through her long wavy hair, baring her fangs acros her bottom lip.

"Delving into a woman's thoughts is quite rude" she said aloud while still not facing him. "You smoke heavily so it's hatched onto your scent like a plague, unsightly for a fellow methuselah" she added.

"Ahh" he responded with a smirk while at the same time lighting a cigarette. "You seem to really care for our master's pet...what purpose does a methuselah serve in serving a frail human, I will never understand. You should explain it to me" he muttered disdainfully.

She turned around then, glowering angrily at him. "What use is explaining anything to you? A monster wouldn't understand such a thing, love, that is"

"Love?" He said with raised eyebrows. "A methuselah has no use for such a human instinct, this 'thing' is what got them wiped out in the first place. It was because they cherished for each other that they didn't survive, they are weak and foolish. Methuselah, as strong and as intellectually superior as they are, would settle for protecting a worthless human, and all their work would go to waste when the foolish human throws themself on a sword for a complete stranger. This thing called 'love' is what got that weak human over there captured, raped, and beaten. And you, a methuselah, wants to protect her"

She was on top of him before he could utter another word, holding her palm over his face with the mindset of blowing it straight to hell. He laughed loudly when a crater the size of his whole head appeared next to his temple, her emerald eyes burned with fury at his cruel words. She was going to kill him right in this room, but his human attributes had given her the impression that this man was human with extraordiary abilities, but she was sadly mistaken.

Shahra found herself being flung back across the room and against the wall, falling to the floor in a soft heap. This didn't hurt her as it would a Terran but it did smart slightly, the noise was tremendous and echoed through the left half of the palace. Shahra growled lightly at him, ready to tear his flesh from whatever bone there was. Just as they were about to clash again, Cain popped in the room right between them.

His gaze traveled over Shahra's disheveled clothing and tumbled hair, and also Issac's long hair that was sprawled all around him and the blood leaking from his right temple. Cain smirked, how did he guess something like this was going to happen? Was he psychic? It probably would've been a good idea to separate the two, but knowing Cain he just wanted entertainment.

"It seems two of my loyal possessions aren't getting along so well, and here and I thought that you guys would become great friends" Cain said with a mock smile.

Shahra stood up regally from her battle stance, gazing at Issac's face with hatred. "I would never get along with such an evil creature"

Cain's eyebrows rose. "Well you obviously seemed troubled by Issac, was he bothering my sweet Esther while she was in her slumber?" He asked with a hint of venom in his voice.

Shahra shivered under his scrutinizing gaze and turned away from him. "He was doing no such thing. His words in reference to her was cruel, as her friend you should understand how I would react" she said with no shame.

Cain waved the matter away with the flick of the hand and gazed at Esther's sleeping body. "Do what you will against my loyal Issac, just don't kill him. Or I'll make sure you watch Esther die" Cain said throwing the vampiress a sweet smile.

Another shiver went through Shahra at that moment, she knew he was serious, there was never a time where she saw this man playful. She nodded her head anyway and swallowed uncomfortably. "I understand" she said.

Cain smiled sweetly at her again before addressing Issac who was on the ground still, his long hair now kept and tamed but still pooling around him like a curtain. His mouth went into a thin straight line, a frown. Cain knelt before Issac and his eyes narrowed, his sweet smile going away as he stared at him. The two said nothing as they stared at each other, Cain's face growing more and more dissatisfied as the minute went by, Issac's face growing more horrified as he stared into the blonde haired man's eyes. He wanted to look away, shield himself from the horrors his own master was bestowing upon him, and was peaked to know that he was the only one that could see it and hear it. His fangs extended themselves out of fear and pierced straight through his bottom lip, blood dripping slowly down his mouth. Cain smirked and held Issac's chin firmly in his hand, forcing the man to stare in his eyes more than he wanted to. Issac's screams of horror pierced the air loudly, causing Shahra to jump slightly and turn away from the scene.

Knowing Issac was way over his limit, Cain released the man's chin and he fell back completely unconscious. Shahra put a hand over her mouth and felt tears welling up at the corner of her eyes. She hated Issac yes, but to hear his screams reveal the pure agony he was experiencing from that man was terrifying. She was in the presence of a very evil man, and now she had to serve that same man. Shahra would never abandon Esther in her time of need, but survival under this lord... "Cain" felt almost impossible. Her gaze went over to the still sleeping Esther in fear of her awakening at the wrong moment, and prayed inwardly that she never woke up at all. Death was much sweeter than this man was, he was ruthless. It would be easier to protect and defend a sleeping princess, then a live one, one where you can bond with her and love her and your heart crumbles when she dies.

The unconscious Issac didn't move an inch as he lay on the floor with his eyes wide open and clouded with what seemed like fog. Cain turned around to gaze at the frightened Shahra.

"Well now that I've diffused the problem" Cain mused while taking hold of Issac's arm and throwing him over his shoulder with ease. "I'll be taking him elsewhere" Cain told her.

Shahra said nothing in response to him and kept her distance.

Cain knew what he just did striked fear into her, and maybe even quelled her emotions of rebellion. She witnessed his power and was absolutely afraid of it and maybe even wondered how Esther has survived him up until now, he had broken her in without having to lift a finger towards her himself.

"Do keep up your end of the bargain and keep a good watch over my sleeping Esther, I would be fairly angry if you did not"

With that being said, Cain left out of the room (using the actual door this time) with Issac still over his shoulder. Leaving Shahra alone again with Esther, who still had not awaken.

Cain floated inside his tank in a peaceful slumber. His chambers was absolutely quiet and still, not a noise could be heard from the outside world. Everything seemed serene in the atmosphere, but here..Cain was locked in this room. No one was allowed entrance while he slept nor to disturb him for any reason, the results could be disastrous. The end result being the normal Cain losing his battle against his other side and the good side being able to roam about in the natural world. The longest he had been in this state, was for a long dreadful month, at least that's what it felt like to the normal Cain who was trapped inside the cage deep in his mind. This is also the same time when he met Esther, when she had first mistaken him for his younger brother, and had thus gained his attention.

For right now though, Cain-the normal Cain-was losing this battle against his other side, for some reason his other half was more relentless than usual and he was eventually overthrown and held hostage in the back of his mind.

A/N: short but straight to the point, sorry ^^ I just didn't want you guys to wait longer than you had to. I'm sorry if most of you are disappointed.

P.S When I typed Shahra's "human" family, I basically mean the humans that served her, but she cherished them like family so thus I listed them as her family.
