Possession and Passion - Legal Privilege
Da Claudio's on Ann Street was starting to get busy as Casey and Alex made their way inside, grabbing a spot at the bar and ordering drinks, it had been a bad day and both needed a drink badly.
We were waiting for Liv and Casey's new guy, a Wall Street lawyer named Eamon, to join us. Eamon and Casey had met at a party a few weeks back and this would be our first meeting with the guy who was making Casey very happy. We were looking forward to meeting him, even though Liv had jokingly suggested that she should give him 'the talk', well I knew she'd been joking though I'm pretty certain Casey wasn't so sure.
We'd been hassled a few times while waiting, one or two guys offering to buy us drinks, most of them had accepted the rejections reasonably well, we'd been polite but firm. A few others unfortunately weren't so pleasant. I ended up getting slightly nasty with one who wouldn't get the hint before he eventually pushed off, muttering under his breath as he did. Casey and I had just rolled our eyes, some guys just don't get that a woman not hanging off a guy's arm doesn't mean 'desperate to get laid', I mean honestly, did either of us look like we'd ever be that desperate? God I hoped not.
A couple of minutes later and two guys walked up, a tall guy and his buddy with the sharp haircut, obviously they thought two of them plus two of us meant party time and they were going to get lucky. We told them we weren't interested but they were persistent beyond politeness. I was starting to get angry and was looking to catch the bartender's eyes when I spotted Liv appear through the doorway, heading our way. She must have picked up on the situation cause she pushed through the crowd like a linebacker, walking right up to me and pulled me in tight, her kiss was enough to make me feel a little like swooning, it was all passion and promise with just a little possession. The guys obviously got the message as one muttered to his pal loud enough to hear.
"Why are all the good ones gay?" I pulled back a little from Liv's embrace, one of her arms resting round my waist and turned, looking over from where I'd let my arm come to rest around Liv's waist and shrugged.
"Too many sexist pigs, all you do is push us into the arms of our girlfriends" Both flushed at the implication as tall guy frowned while sharp haircut smiled at Casey in what he obviously thought was a winning manner.
"Hey babe, why don't we let these two catch up and you can come party with us" Casey was obviously about to say something when Liv leaned in and reached out an arm, looping it round Casey's shoulder and pulling her gently in close on her other side.
"Don't worry boys, she has absolutely no interest in you" Before they could say anything, Liv leant further over, I could see her catch Casey's eye before leaning in and giving her a proper kiss, not chaste at all, as I watched, not quite sure if I should be outraged or turned on; truth be told I was feeling a bit of both. Both guys were left standing there, jaws hanging open, before sharp haircut spoke, well stuttered really.
"You...her...both of them?" Liv just pulled back and smiled, a little too self-satisfied to be honest, getting a shake of the head from sharp haircut and a moan from tall guy.
"You lucky bitch" Liv's smile changed to a knowing, mocking smirk, her voice full of satisfaction.
"You have no idea" Tall guy just shook his head, voice full of despair.
"That is so not fair" They got the message and departed, one glancing back over his shoulder at us before they were lost in the growing after-work crowd filling up the bar as Liv turned to Casey, an apology already spilling from her lips.
"Sorry about the surprise, but they looked like they weren't the types to take no for an answer, so I thought a demonstration would hammer the message home" Casey just shook her head slowly then glanced past Liv at me.
"I can see why she's yours" I just raised an eyebrow coolly, seeing Liv wince just a little, she knew me well enough that she'd be paying for this tonight when we got home. We both knew I could get a little possessive and when I did, I tended to mark my territory; fortunately I'd so far avoided leaving bite marks anywhere on that lush body that might be seen publically, so far. Deciding to stir the pot I smiled and spoke.
"I have absolutely no complaints" Casey licked her lips, slightly theatrically then spoke.
"Well, she knows what she's doing" Liv shrugged modestly.
"All Alex's doing" She looked at me and smiled gently. "She taught me everything about how to love a lady" Casey just shook her head slowly then looked over at me, a smirk growing as I got suddenly suspicious, I knew Casey and she was up to something...
"You taught her that?" I nodded once slowly, glancing to Liv then back at Casey, being honest.
"She had the talent, it was just lots of practice" Casey thought about that for a second then smiled a trifle wistfully.
"I hate you just a bit right now" I couldn't help my slightly smug smile; Casey could enjoy her minor triumph, after all Liv was coming home with me. Liv smiled at me then Casey as the red head slipped out from Liv's arm around her waist and looked at the pair of us together.
"No wonder you're happy" Liv looked at me and smiled, that smile she only gives me, the one that I love, unconsciously drawing a smile in return before I replied.
"I am" Liv seconded that.
"Me too" Casey nodded.
"Thought so, damn" As I watched she looked over at Liv as a calculating expression crossed her face, as an alarm bell went off inside my head. Obviously coming to a decision she reached out and snagged Liv's button down, quickly pulling her closer as I felt my jaw drop, she couldn't, she wasn't…She was.
"C'mere" With that invitation Casey leaned forward and kissed Liv again, obviously losing herself for a moment in the fact that this was New York's butchest female cop she was kissing and that she was the envy of gay women across the Five Boroughs right now. I was about to say something when she amped it up just a little, gently moaning into the kiss, I was about to explode when I suddenly came to the realisation of what Casey was doing and why.
Casey and I had been one upping each other all week, back and forward, back and forward. I'd mostly come out on top but we were both damned competitive, obviously Casey had decided that payback was a cast-iron bitch. I scowled at the realization as I unconsciously crossed my arms in irritation, the fact that I knew just how soft and inviting Liv's kisses were was icing on the cake as far as Casey was concerned.
After a few obviously very satisfying seconds Casey pulled back, then turned to me, taking in my crossed arms and rapidly growing scowl before smiling, well smirking really; she obviously found it extremely satisfying to get a decisive win over me, it didn't happen often enough, making it even more satisfying for her when it did.
We exchanged a meaningful look past a sheepish-looking Liv even as Casey smiled before I nodded once, acknowledging Casey's win. Casey in turn glanced at Liv and then back to me.
"If you're ever stupid enough to let her go, I get rights of first refusal" I shook my head once decisively.
"I'm not that stupid" Casey acknowledged that.
"Even so, keep me in mind, okay?" Obviously feeling like the fifth wheel in this discussion Liv couldn't keep quiet.
"Hey, don't I get some say in this?" Casey and I exchanged a glance and a wicked smile before we turned to her and spoke in unison.
"No"
