-CHAPTER SIX-

On Thursday morning, all the first year Lions had gathered in the common room, surrounding the notice board. There were murmurs that spread like wildfire; some of them were excited, some were nervous and some were either in between.

Like for instant, Dion was close to having a mental breakdown when their first class was flying lessons. He…wasn't good on a broom and let's just leave it at that. So, in the Great Hall at the Gryffindor, Dion was hanging onto Rose's words since she was giving out flying tips which ended having everyone being bored to death.

They had flying lessons with the Slytherins which everyone was not really looking forward to but to Albus, he actually was looking forward to it.

There were two reasons:

One was that he couldn't wait to show off his broom skills and two, maybe just maybe, he would be able to talk to Scorpius Malfoy. He had seen him quite a few times here and there but they didn't really talk to each other whenever they had classes.

So, Albus was thinking that this would be a great opportunity to start a little conversation with him and maybe sometime in the future, they could be friends.

When he told that to his friends and Rose, Daniel and Rose were appalled while Avery thought it was a great idea.

"Are you mad?!" Daniel exploded. "He's Scorpius Malfoy! The son of the former Death eater!"

"Hey! Just because his father was a death eater, it doesn't mean that Scorpius will turn out bad." Albus snapped, irritated.

"Fine. Just don't expect us two to come to your funeral." Rose muttered, huffing.

While the Flying lessons were an instant hit topic, the topic had soon turned to Quidditch and there were people who actually had an argument about which teams are the best. Like for instant, Daniel had already gotten into an argument with Alejandro, who shared their dormitory.

And at three-thirty that afternoon, Albus, Daniel, Avery, Rose and the other Gryffindors scurried down the front steps onto the grounds for their first flying lesson. Luckily for them, the weather decided to be a nice warm, breezy day. And of course, they were the first ones to arrive; the Slytherins didn't came yet which made everyone's hopes to rise.

"Maybe the giant squid ate them." Daniel said, gleefully.

"Or maybe they are coming down the hill looking perfectly healthy and living." Avery stated, shooting a look at the group of Snakes.

Daniel groaned. "Aw, way to kill the mood."

Their teacher, Madam Zenaida, arrived. She had sharp features and glassy gray eyes and the moment they look into them they would feel lost in them. She had gray-white pixie hair.

"Well?" she suddenly asked. "You should all stand by a broomstick by now. Come on! We don't have time to wait for you!"

Everyone scurried to stand by a broom.

"Stick out your right hand over your broom," called Madam Zenaida at the crowd. "and say 'Up!'"

"UP!" everyone shouted.

Albus's broom jumped into is hand at once, but it was one of the few that did. Rose was starting to be irritated when the broom would sometimes be lifted off the ground a few inches up before it went back down, being stubborn. Dion's broom didn't even made an effort; it almost felt like it was mocking him, if that was even possible. Albus laughed when he saw a kid fell to the ground since his broom swept him off his feet.

"That's the best you got?" Zenaida shouted at them. "If you want to have your broom in your possession you gotta have feelings. Now come on! With feelings! Hurry it up!" she barked.

"DAMNIT! I'VE HAD IT WITH THIS BROOM! UP, YOU USELESS THING!" Rose thundered, scaring a few people that were beside her. The broom managed to get her on the last straw. And so because of that startling voice, the broom instantly shot into her hand; Rose smiled triumphantly.

But the people who were beside her all had scared and nervous looks, wondering if it they should even approach her at all.

However, Madam Zenaida approved of it since she congratulated her, giving them ten points.

"Nicely done, Ms. Weasley." she said.

Pretty soon, everyone had their brooms in their hands. When that was done, Madam Zenaida then went on how to properly mount their brooms without sliding off the end, and walked up and down the rows correcting their grips.

"Well done so far. Now, I want you all to have practice with your broom which is why, when I blow my whistle, you will kick off the ground, hard. Keep your brooms steady, rise a few feet, and then come straight back down by leaning forward slightly." she then gave a sharp scan to the students. "On my whistle—three—two-"

When the whistle was blown, Albus was immediately hovering in the air, zipping in and out. There were some people who were on the ground, hovering a few centimetres off the ground while some had absolutely refused or are frightened to even go up in the air.

Albus scanned the area, looking for Scorpius; his idea from before was still fresh in his mind.

He grinned with delight when he had finally found the platinum blonde boy who zipped around with ease, making the people to see that he really was a skilled flyer just like Albus.

"Hey!" Albus called out once he was able to talk to Scorpius.

Scorpius, who was about to make a dive, suddenly did a sharp swerve in order to face Albus who was waving at him. He rolled his eyes then zoomed towards him before he halted himself.

"What?" he asked.

Albus was slightly startled then froze, not really sure what to say next. Like, Scorpius Malfoy was literally right there in his face, having an annoyed look as he was waiting for Albus's response.

"Either say something or don't bother saying something at all." Malfoy replied, annoyed.

"Oh er s-sorry." Albus stammered.

What would he say?

He racked his brains to somehow start the conversation. While he did, Daniel performed a turn and scanned the field to search for his lost friend. When he did, Daniel narrowed his eyes.

"What is he up to?"

"Who?" Avery announced, joining him shortly.

"Malfoy."

"Uh oh. That can't be good. When there's a Malfoy, it's never a good sign." Rose replied.

Avery shot her a look. "Why do you insist that Scorpius is just like his father? Maybe he's different. You should all-especially you Daniel—give him a chance."

Daniel sneered but said nothing other than announcing that he was going to help Albus.

Huffing, Avery thought that this probably wouldn't be a good sign so she and Rose followed Daniel.

"Well, well. Look what the cat dragged in." a voice responded, earning the attentions of Albus and Scorpius.

"Dan…what are you doing here?" Albus quizzed.

"Obviously saving you from the wrath of Malfoy." he answered.

Albus shot an annoyed look. "You're still on to that?" he gave a look to Avery who shrugged.

Scorpius narrowed his eyes before placing on a thoughtful look and smirked. "Let's make a deal. Since this pea-pint arrogant prat still thinks that Slytherins are evil, let's do a race. If I win, he has to accept that Slytherins are not evil and are not new generation mini Death Eaters. If he wins—which I doubt he won't—then he can do what he is currently doing."

"That is a horrible idea—"Avery began but Daniel cut her off.

"Deal."

Avery groaned before muttering to Rose that he is going to lose.

"Albus, you will be in charge." Dan responded, before joining Scorpius who was already at the invisible starting line.

"Racers, on your mark," Albus began. "Get set…GO!"

The two took off like a missile and it was nearly impossible to see who lead who. By the looks of it, it looked Scorpius was taking the lead while Daniel was only a centimeter behind.

"If I to be honest, I really want Scorpius to win so this…ridiculous thing can stop." Avery muttered, quirking an eyebrow.

No sooner or later, the race had ended and when the two racers returned, one of them was gloomy and the other one had a triumph look on his face. That triumph face belonged to none other than Scorpius Malfoy; Avery smirked and cheered for Malfoy while Daniel gave her a dirty look.

"He cheated!" Daniel complained.

"Sorry Dan. He won it fair and square." Avery responded, smirking. "Don't be such a sore loser."

And just a few minutes later, Madame Zenaida blew her whistle which made Avery to be very glad since she couldn't take anymore of Daniel's complaining. They all flew down to the ground in order to meet up with their Flying Instructor who told them that some of them did really well and others did not. She then explained what they will be learning next class and with that, she dismissed them.

It was dinnertime by the time Albus, Rose and his friends entered the overly noisy Great Hall. Albus couldn't wait to dig into the delicious feast as he was completely famished. When he took his usual seat, his expression instantly changed into a happy one once he saw the food that was waiting to be eaten.

As Albus was about to dig into some mashed potatoes, he stopped in mid-way when he heard voices.

"There's Potter." a voice responded.

Curiously, Albus turned around only to spot a pair of twins that seemed to be glaring at him angrily. They made their way towards him and stopped in front of him.

"Er…hi?" Albus said, awkwardly.

Daniel turned to Albus's direction. "Hey, I know you two! You're the Hood twins. Only er…I forgot who's who." he said, sheepishly.

The two twins shot him an annoyed look, clearly stating that they weren't interested in talking to him.

"Anyways, you are the brother of James Potter, right?"

"Uh yeah." Albus mumbled, eyeing them warily.

"Anyways, tell him to control his horses and to stop messing with us!" one of the twins exclaimed, irritated.

"What did he do this time?" Albus sighed.

"The stupid little prat dyed all our clothes bright pink! Even our undergarments!"

As to prove their point, they took out a shirt and shoved it at Albus's face.

Daniel tried not to snigger but the twin shot him a look.

"Er…I'll tell him not to bother you anymore." Albus muttered, slowly being irritated that he still can't eat.

"Good because if you don't we will clobber his little brain with our clubs into pieces!" they threatened before they angrily stormed off.

"Clubs?" Albus asked, wearily.

"They're on the team—beaters." Daniel answered with his stuffed mouth, earning a disgust look from Avery.

"Your brother is going to give you a lot of trouble…" Avery said.

"Tell me about it." he muttered before he can finally dig into his meal.

"Psst…" a voice whispered, instantly gaining Albus's attention.

He scanned the table but shrugged when he found no source.

"Psst!" the voice became a bit louder.

Albus gave a sharp look to his right and scanned once again.

"Down here!"

Following the voice, Albus looked down only to have his eyes wide but then he narrowed them, placing an angry look afterwards.

"James?"

Indeed.

There was James who was apparently hiding underneath the table and he seemed to look around.

"Shh…is it safe to get up? Who's with you?"

"Rose, Avery and Daniel." he paused. "Why?"

"Never mind." he then got up once it was safe to do so. "Whew. Good thing I can be visible again. I'm starved." he replied, digging into desert.

Albus stared at James with a sceptic look before he clicked as he remembered the conversation with those Hood twins.

"You were hiding from the Hood twins, weren't you?" Albus demanded.

"Yes."

"You prat!" he exclaimed. "If you keep on doing what you're doing now, you will get me into trouble! They told me that if they find you they will clobber your brain into pieces with their clubs!"

James rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah whatever. Empty threats."

Albus stared at his brother angrily. "It wouldn't be an empty threat if I did it, now would it?!" he slightly snarled. "Now go and apologize to them and say that you won't bother them ever again!" he snapped.

James grunted. "Screw off, little bro. I don't need another lecture. One lecture is enough especially if you got it from Victorie."

Albus growled.

However, James disregarded it then had a thoughtful look before he grinned. "Hey…you wouldn't mind if those twins somehow got cream in their faces, would you?"

"Obviously I would mind!"

But, James being James, he dismissed Albus's response and conjured some cream pies. He sniggered then vanished for a few minutes before he came back to his seat. Everything was perfect for a while until there were sounds that sounded like loud splats and there were roaring laughter that was down a few seats.

"James." Albus whined, burying his face in his hands.

"See ya little bro." James replied, gleefully and darted off.

"ALBUS!" the twins roared.

Albus sniffed. "I'll be back."

He reluctantly got up and walked ever so slowly to the twins where he knew there would be a lot of yelling…

:(/\):

After the chaos that happened in the Great Hall, Albus now hid behind Daniel as though he was his body guard.

"Don't worry, Albus. I'll protect you from any harm! OW! OH BLOODY HELL!" he moaned.

Avery snorted. "If you can walk right."

Daniel rubbed his nose, glaring at the armored statue knight. "I wouldn't have gotten hit if this stupid thing wasn't in the way!"

"Sure, sure." Rose replied. "Blame it on the Knight."

As they were walking towards their common room, they heard a loud bang then a cackle.

Albus whimpered, hoping that it wasn't James.

But…

It wasn't James. It was Peeves who just came out of a door, wearing a gleeful look as he skipped in the air.

However, he stopped when he saw the foursome.

"Ooo, Ickle Firsties!" he cackled. "Wandering the halls!"

"Oh bug off Peeves!" Daniel snapped.

"Ooo, that's not very nice!" he then swooshed down at them, making them to duck down.

Peeves then paused before he grinned. "Wanna hear a secret?"

Now that got their attention.

"Such as?"

"Come close." he whispered, ominously. They all moved towards, being interested what kind of secret Peeves had.

"Are you going to tell us or not?" Daniel asked, impatient.

"Come close…"

They did so until—

SPLAT!

Rose and Avery shrieked while Albus and Daniel exclaimed with anger. Their faces were now covered with something disgustingly slimy, dripping down to the floor. Peeves laughed manically as he sang something horrible.

"PEEVES I'LL GET YOU FOR THIS!" Daniel roared.

"HAHA! STUPID LITTLE FIRSTIES WANTED TO KNOW! AND BOY OH BOY THEY FELL FOR IT AND GOT WHAT THEY DESERVED!" Peeves sang, loudly.

But it wasn't until then that Peeves told them something else.

"Now here's a secret that shall be revealed. If you know it, you will know where it is!" he rhymed.

"Screw it. I'm not falling for it." Daniel muttered.

"Wait." Albus replied, curiously what Peeves was telling them.

"It's at a corridor where it is forbidden! A place that is unwelcomed! Full of traps and enchantments! Only foolish people will enter! But beware! If entered, there's no going back! If entered, this will only lead you to your death! So be brave and gallant and you might stand a chance!" Peeves sang before he went away, leaving loud obnoxious noises.

At long last, they had finally entered their common room and went to their respectful dormitory but as Albus was slowly going to bed, he couldn't help but wonder what Peeves had just told them.

A/N: …so I really didn't like how this one turned out. It gave me such a hard time and I apologize for the long wait. I'm sorry if it's boring but the er riddle I guess I shall call it…it is actually important for later in the story. I suppose there's nothing else to tell you—once again I'm sorry if this was boring and un-interesting but the next chapter, we will get to see some actions! See ya!
