Chapter 7: Ice Rink Battle
Authors Note: Nothing too grand just changing the battle scene. It's a much longer chapter.
Edit Authors Note: ^"Nothing too grand?" You're kidding me. Jesus what was going through my past self's mind. Okay, more clean up. Italics are when Ian and Lindy are speaking in English.
The Tamers spent a whole week on patrol. Henry and Terriermon would take the Monday and Wednesday going through the city trying to find a shred of information on the new intruder in West Shinjuku. Takato and Guilmon took Tuesday and Saturday staking out by Guilmon's Hideout in the park to see if the thing would come into contact with the area, but nothing showed up. Even Rika and Renamon who were patrolling on Thursday and Friday had not found anything and they were beyond frustrated. Kazu and Kenta and their partners ran around town on Sunday night since they did not have as much resources as the original Tamers. No luck with either of them.
Lindy went to speak with Yamaki and brought Ian along for the trip much to his dismay. The guy still gave Ian a bad mood whenever he was in the building. The computer humming in the background made him remember the whole incident with the government Agent imposter. Yamaki began by letting Lindy explain her side of the story when she was overshadowed by Deciliousmon.
"It was like being dunked in cold water-numbing and just floating there, unable to do a single thing. I could watch the stuff happen, but as much as I tried-I couldn't stop anything. It was a miracle I didn't kill Ian here. Finally, the battle with the Tamers gave me an edge to overtake her and get her out. She came out like black gunk-it was so gross."
"And now you are sure you destroyed her?" The black suited man asked frowning. Lindy shrugged.
"As far as I know. My powers as an ultimate are incredible. I never knew I could become something like Hopemon. I always thought when the data disappeared, the show was over."
Ian muttered looking down. "Not always."
Lindy perked up and looked at him. He took a deep breath and sighed.
"Digimon do have the ability to reform when they are deleted like that. It takes a long time but it happens. The only for sure way is to absorb their data."
Yamaki nodded putting on his glasses. "Assuming you did not absorb Deciliousmon's data, she could still be very much alive." This reply made Lindy growl.
"That-that...bitch will not come back! I will do everything to stop her!" The anger in the blonde's voice made Ian feel uncomfortable. Never had Lindy hated someone so much-unless you count the person who killed Marcus Rose, Lindy's uncle. Lindy was usually cheerful and positive-here, it seemed she was the exact opposite.
"Look, Lindy, we understand you want to keep everyone safe-including Ai and Mako," Talley began, sitting next to Yamaki. "But we need as much information you could give us. Anything else you can remember?"
The silence was long. Lindy pressed harder into her memory to find something-anything that she could remember. Something clicked in her head suddenly. It wasn't anything ground breaking, but it was worth asking about.
"Their voices changed...almost robotic like." Lindy paused and tried to remember. The night when she was Hopemon and defeated the evil remains of Decilioumon she said something strange:
"You still can't save him! You...will...fail-incomplete..."
Fail? Incomplete? What did that mean? The teen girl told Yamaki and the others about what had happened at the last few seconds. Ian explained the same thing happened at the fake government base when the fake Yamaki was talking to them.
Both of them had that same robotic voice...but why? Was something controlling them? Were they possible pawns in a greater plan?
Yamaki drew a sharp breath. They had more clues at least now. Robotic voices disguised in their forms. He grumbled and started to bring out some paper work for Lindy to fill out to complete the protection program. Lindy nodded and started to fill it out receiving help from Riley and Talley. When Yamaki looked around her noticed something that made him pissed. First, his favourite pen was stolen. Second, Ian was missing.
Ian walked around the halls spinning the pen in his hand. So boring! He left as soon as Yamaki was pulling some kind of papers out for Lindy. Why did she bring him here? He could have done a million and one better things than to be at this dump!
Going down a few halls, he entered what he thought was the lunch room. However, getting a closer look he saw a window peaking into a lab with computers projecting profiles up. A few were of random children and digimon-some of the Tamers came up on the screen. Suddenly, he saw Lindy on there with a high priority label across the screen.
Just what was...
"Ian!" Lindy hugged the teen making him jump. "Were done, let's go. Yamaki kinda wants us to get out since you took his favourite pen." Her smile stopped as she looked at him. "What's wrong, Impy?" She looked where the hybrid was looking and saw a blank screen. Ian shook his head.
"Nothin' toots. Let's go."
He wanted to know what was going on. Exactly what was Project Shield? Maybe a visit tonight would be in order he thought. He might need back up too. Who could go invisible and keep a stealth matched by him? It did not even take a second to think of who his partner in crime would be and he should go visit her as soon as possible.
Renamon was a simple digimon. Not simple as in stupid-but simple as it did not take too much to find her peace. With battling and keeping watch over Rika, she enjoyed the early spring days in the trees. It was quiet, peaceful and she could be left to her own thoughts. Tranquillity, and peace. With a deep breath, she sat on a branch and closed her eyes. Giving another deep breath, she felt herself unwind her body and relax...
Until a snapped twig brought her back and she turned around. Mentally groaning, she turned her head to find something struggling to climb the tree. Maybe it was a dog again like last time. A curse came and the rookie digimon recognized the voice.
Impmon, or 'Ian' as he was in his human form, was shouting obscenities about not being able to climb trees as he used to. Being that taller and weaker, Renamon was slightly amused at him trying to meet up with her in the tree.
"Can I help you?" Renamon peered down below to see the blond hybrid looking up with a scowl on his face. Her clear blue eyes seemed to have a flicker of amusement, watching the poor teen grabbing another tree branch-and failing.
"Ya, you can help me foxy by getting me up this god damn tree! I ain't so jumpy in this form!"
Renamon sighed and with a single arm, brought the hybrid up on the branch and down on his backside. The yellow fox sat down again the closed her eyes. Ian looked curiously at her.
"So, uh-what's up?"
"Other than the sky?" Renamon replied staying still. She could feel Ian losing his cool.
"Yea, other than the sky! Don't play games! That's my job here, fox-face!"
"Well before you came, I was enjoying my peace and quiet. Now, that seems it has been ruined." Renamon was getting up and preparing to leave, but Ian reached out a hand.
"I think there's somethin' fishy about Hypnos. I need ya help." The admission perked Renamon's curiosity. Why was the hybrid now interested in Hypnos?
"I'm listening," Renamon faced him. "Go on."
Ian explained the whole visit to the building. After telling the story and what he wanted to do Renamon pursed her lips.
"Ian, that is none of our business what those people do. As long as their not hurting Rika or the others, I do not particularly care. Besides, we are supposed to look for that digimon that escaped into our world."
"But Rika was on the screen too! Even Jeri's name was in a file! Foxy, you gotta be interested why those Hypnos guys are still following us-even after Deciliousmon. I need to know why Lindy was on that file too."
Renamon gave Ian a look. Ian shut up quickly, blushing. The fox digimon had a pretty good idea what the hybrid's feelings were towards Lindy, but did not press further. Rika's information did peak her interest and maybe something else would come up.
"Tonight. Meet me here. We will go in and take a quick peak-quick, Impmon. Nothing more." Renamon disappeared leaving Ian triumphant. He pumped his fist in the air silently but pressed on a unstable branch and fell down. Stupid trees, he thought sprawled on the grass.
That night, the two met up. Impmon bounced into the tree with ease. He couldn't believe how weak he was as a human. While he did have some strength, climbing was not his forté. Renamon looked at the other digimon.
"You ready?"
"Always." he replied and the two set off. He was glad Lindy wasn't around. She was busy with school work. Truth be told, he missed Renamon and just hanging out with the yellow fox. It was a odd friendship but a friendship with no doubt. Just he did not want to admit that. The fox spoke first.
"What do you see in the girl?"
Impmon jumped from a building to a billboard sign. The Hypnos building was a few blocks away still. Clenching his red gloves, he turned his head.
"What's it to ya?"
The calm voice spoke back.
"You were about to tell her your feelings back when you almost died."
He was caught there. Impmon looked down and remembered when he was going to tell her. It would have been better getting that off his chest than just hiding it like no tomorrow. Now, it was sitting there uncomfortable on his shoulders. His feelings could not stay there in his head forever. But the idea of rejection was too much to think of.
"I-I don't know. The whole idea is messed up. She's deserves someone a little more like her. Some guy that makes her feel normal or somethin'."
Renamon jumped on the billboard and glanced at the night sky. Stars were out and a half moon was peaking from a cloud.
"I might not be an expert in love, but you should trust your feelings. It is no one's business who should love who. Besides, I think she would make a good match for you. I don't know anyone else who could stand your stunts."
Impmon remembered when the two first met. How Lindy was first terrified, then was going crazy at his pranks. He was not a fan of the blonde at first, but she kept looking after Ai and Mako diligently. She even tried keeping an open mind with him. Not a lot of people would have done that, given he threw fireballs at her and set countless things on fire to his pleasure. She sure put up with a lot. It made a chuckle escape his lips.
Not much was spoken when the two digimon arrived at Hypnos building. No digimon barrier was tearing their code apart, so they climbed in through a window and found themselves in the office space a floor above the room they needed to be in.
Walking past desks, Renamon looked around. Nothing out of the ordinary here. The duo continued to the stairs and ended up on the ground floor where Impmon saw the files pop up on the screen. The room was clean as a toothpick. There were only a few desks in the room with the computers-turned off and quiet. A bunch of file cabinets were in the back that peaked the imp's curiosity. They were not locked-so luckily, he pried them open and went through them.
Renamon looked around. What was so special about this place? It was just another office. Heading toward the front desk she looked at the drawers there. One was locked, so she left it. The other on was open and she opened it. A file labelled Shield was there and she picked it up gently. Was this what Impmon was looking for?
She flipped it open. Inside, it looked like a few profiles. It showed a picture, a digimon partner, some information about them, their location, and a coloured tag on it. Looking through, she stopped when it showed herself and Rika on the page. Taking it out she placed it on the desk.
Rika Nonaka,
Fourteen
West Shinjuku
West Shinjuku Private High School,
Digimon: Renamon
Mega form: Sakuyamon
Classification: 03
A blue tape was on the file. Looking at the others, they only had a classification of 01 with a green tape on the file. There were pictures of Rika at school and walking. One picture was Renamon, but it was such a blur. The fox digimon was surprised they caught her on camera. They had been busy.
"See anythin'?" Impmon called out. Renamon showed him the files. Impmon smirked at her. "Told ya. Now there has to be Lindy's file somewhere..."
After ten minutes, Impmon discovered the locked desk that Renamon looked at before. Impmon leaned close and put a ear to it. Then, he lit a fire and melted the lock off.
"You know someone will notice that." Renamon pointed out but Impmon wasn't listening.
In the drawer was a file labelled CLASSIFIED. Opening up, he found Lindy's profile. It had a black tape on it reading Classification: Unknown. Attached was another profile, Impmon's. The information was confusing-he couldn't read it.
"Foxy, what does this say?"
"Can't you-"
"No, I can't." Impmon's voice went tense. He hated how he couldn't read still-it was very annoying.
Renamon picked up the file.
"Lindy Haruki-original name, Rose. Born of Niagara Falls, Canada. Classification hybrid. Changes at night unwillingly...can change into ultimate form as Hopemon...it has everything here about her."
Looking through some photos, there were some of Beelzemon and his rookie form. Even a photo as his human form of him walking into the building. Figures, they got a picture of him.
"Rest of it says something about an Erika Rose...nothing useful."
"That was one of Lindy's aunt's I think…" Impmon muttered. He didn't care for the family that betrayed Lindy-they could burn for all he cared. He kept Lindy's profile out. There she was smile and all looking down a soccer field in her profile picture. It looked like it was taken during one of her soccer games. Another photo showed her younger around ten or eleven but it looked more like a family photo. Even back then, she had a great smile on her-but she had shorter blonde hair.
"Are you going to keep staring at the photo?" Renamon asked, making Impmon jump a bit. He stuck the photo up his glove-the one of her smiling on the field. Folding the file, he looked around.
"I guess there ain't nothin' left. This place was a freakin' bust. Why would Hypnos just want to monitor all of us like rats?"
Renamon suggested, "I think they just have the best interests in protecting us Impmon. Their not like those things you and Lindy faced a few months back."
One more thing stood out to the two. It was the sleek, black computer that was on and had a file on the desktop. It was the only thing left besides the garbage can icon. Impmon moved the mouse and clicked on it. There was a video of a shadowy figure Bio-emerging and leaving within seconds. The fog cleared up as well. It was located in East Shinjuku-the more uptown side where high rises were bigger, and more rich people lived. The figure though was running-not jumping and not flying. It looked almost human...
"This video must be related to what Henry and Terriermon were talking about," Renamon spoke. "It's nice to know that it almost looks human. I was expecting another monster the size of a Parrotmon-Impmon, I think we are done here. Let's go."
Impmon nodded and closed the file. Everything except the melted lock was normal, and the troubling digimon simply tucked the melted metal under the desk. It would take a bit to notice what had happened, Impmon reasoned.
As the two left the government building, Renamon stopped on top of a building. Impmon stopped as well wondering what she was doing.
"It is not my place to tell you how to say or do things, Impmon. But might I suggest that the longer you make things wait, the harder it gets." Renamon disappeared before Impmon could say a comeback. He kicked the ground on the rooftop, cursing her. Sitting on the ledge, he took out the photo of her. He can't admit his feelings...he just wasn't ready yet. He decided he should get home and talk to Lindy about what he found out.
It was only about twenty minutes when Impmon came back. He came through a window and went into Lindy's room. The dark blue rookie was still awake, writing an essay. She looked up and smiled revealing her fangs.
"Hey, you would not believe how much homework I got done tonight. I think I might see the light of day soon." She joked chewing on a pen and looking back at the computer screen. Impmon came on the bed and put a gloved hand on the laptop and shut it.
"Hey I-"
"Those Hypnos guys got a profile on everyone around here." Impmon began cutting her off. Lindy gave her an odd look.
"They have these folders and profiles about all the Tamers,-including us. I just came back with Renamon from snooping around the place. Lindy, have ya heard of this Project Shield?"
Lindy gave a strange look and curled up her tail around her and she held it to her chest.
"No, not really. I don't think they're out to get our blood or anything. They probably just need to make sure we're safe."
Impmon narrowed his eyes. "I still feel like something's fishy. We also saw a video of that thing Bio-emerging into the area. The one Henry told us about to keep an eye out for."
"Oh really? What did it look like?"
Impmon hesitated, remembering the video. It was mostly dark but all he could really get out of it was that it was a human figure that ran off in seconds from the field. It was taken in East Shinjuku. Lindy folded her arms.
"Well, Ai and Mako are going skating tomorrow. That's in East Shinjuku. Maybe we can find it there. I'll send Rika and the others a quick text tomorrow about it."
The two agreed and Lindy finished up her homework. It was almost midnight and the parents were going to get the twins up early. That meant they were going to try to get Ian and Lindy up early. The two joked about both of their sleeping habits. It would take a tow truck to move them if they did not want to get up. Impmon curled up on his corner of the bed while Lindy did the same in her end. Catching one last glance at the hybrid, Impmon closed his eyes and fell asleep.
Morning came and Ai and Mako were up early, as usual. They went downstairs to Lindy's room to find the two hybrids sleeping on the bed almost on top of one another. Excitedly, they jumped on the bed and told them to get up.
Ian looked at the clock. It was 8:25 a.m. He was so warm and comfortable in the bed that he never wanted to get up. Sleep was one thing he liked and as a human, he could get a lot of it. Plus, being close to Lindy was a pleasant bonus.
"No, more sleep." He muttered, as he shut his eyes. Lindy didn't even bother to open her eyes.
"You guys are no fun." complained Ai as she walked out of the door, Mako followed, but attempted to take a some money out of Lindy's clothing jar.
"Take it, and your getting a makeover." mumbled Lindy, still having her eyes closed. Mako sulked and walked out of the room with no money.
About ten minutes later, the two teens were greeted by an airhorn. Lindy and Ian screamed as they shot out of bed. After regaining their normal heart beat, the two hyrbids turned to the twins, who were laughing their heads off. Mako was clutching the air horn.
"I'll give you two a ten second head start." Lindy said darkly. Ian did not want any part in this; so he fell back down on the bed and closed his eyes. "One…two…nine…TEN!"
For five minutes, all you could hear is Ai and Mako screaming and feet pounding the whole house. This included Tai and Yuki holding a pissed off Lindy, cursing in English about the twins.
"Would you all just shut up!" Ian screamed, throwing a pillow on his head. It was no use. Everyone was up now. Throwing off the covers he flopped out of bed and decided he should change into one of the outfits Lindy bought him. Ian picked out a black muscle shirt, baggy blue jeans and a dark hoodie. Although, he had to admit that Lindy was good at picking out the stuff that he liked.
As he was just about to put on his new shirt Lindy barged in without thinking that Ian was changing. That was a mistake, as she widened her eyes.
"Oh, I'm so, so sorry!" she cried, covering her eyes. She couldn't help but smile. He had a six pack! Oh, stop it Lindy, she thought controlling her thoughts. Turning away, she heard him reply.
"Uh, it's okay I guess." He muttered putting his shirt on and then his hoodie. "I still don't get why ya always blush when this happens. Seesh."
Lindy sighed and turned when he finished changing. They needed a system or something or else they are going to keep walk into each other like this.
"Hey, have you ever skated?" Lindy asked putting some make up on.
"Skate? Nope."
"You are going to have fun today." The blonde girl muttered, finishing her look with some blush. It wasn't a show stopping look but her lips wouldn't be too chapped and she looked less dead.
Tai and Yuki came into Lindy's room. First, they lectured her about keeping the room clean to which she said she was sorry. Then they lectured her about her attitude in the morning. She rolled her eyes,
"Guys, I can't help my grouchiness in the morning. I take a long time to wake up. Besides, they had the air horn."
The parents asked about Ian and how he was feeling. Usually, they wouldn't see him around. He made himself scarce in the day time until it was time to grab the twins from school. Even last night, they didn't see him.
"A million bucks. Where are the munchkins?"
"Ai and Mako are getting dressed." said Yuki, but they heard a thump.
"Help!" came a muffled cry from upstairs.
"I'll go help them." Lindy said, getting out of the room.
The parents looked at Ian.
"Hey, we wanted to talk to you anyways about Lindy-"
Ian quickly thought of an excuse. He had a feeling that Tai and Yuki wanted to ask him about her, but he wanted to avoid it as long as possible. They must have noticed...
"Uh-I'll go help too." he ran after Lindy who was already up the stairs.
Lindy was helping Ai do up her coat. Ian started to help out Mako with his boots. How could a kid not understand left and right? Finally, everyone was ready and had their skates.
Lindy dug deep and found some duck tape in the closet. She put it in her bag.
"What's with the duck tape, toots?" Ian asked standing behind her.
"I get pissed at the laces." She replied, as she walked out of the door. Spotting two I-pods on the counter, Ian grabbed the them and followed out.
"Thanks" Lindy said as she took the device and climbed in. Ian sat with Mako while Lindy sat with Ai.
"Can I listen?" Mako asked Ian.
"Can ya understand the lyrics munchkin?"
"Lyrics?"
"Words to the song-their in English."
"I don't care. Gimmie."
Ian gave an ear bud to Mako who put it on and started to listen to the music. It was Enimem and it had some pretty vulgar language, but luckily Mako just liked listening to the beat. Lindy offered her I pod to Ai and turned to her phone. She was busy texting. She sent Rika, Takato, Henry, and even Kazu all that she knew and that they should come keep their eyes peeled at the rink in East Shinjuku. Rika replied right away saying that she will be there soon. Takato agreed, and Henry replied he will be there as soon as his sister will take him there. Kazu gave no reply but Lindy had a feeling the teen was sleeping still.
Finally, they reached their destination after twenty minutes. It was in East Shinjuku's athletic building which was updated a few years ago. It looked more modern with large window panes covering the building and metal work outlining the three floors. The ice rink was on the ground floor right inside. It was a large rink with a few people skating around.
Lindy sat down on an empty bench and quietly put on her skates. She slipped the purple guards off and stepped on the ice. Slowly, she started to skate but as soon as she was getting the hang on it-she fell.
"Damn." the blonde girl muttered as Ian laughed from the bench.
"I thought Canadians knew how to skate?"
The hybrid scowled darkly, and looked down in embarrassment. Canadians were commonly taught how to skate at a young age, but she never received lessons. Only Ethan had the time to teach her when they were younger. Calmly, Lindy started again and caught a glimpse of Ai and Mako skating. She was amazed at how good Ai and Mako were. Even Tai and yuki were skating just like naturals.
"How long have you guys skate?" questioned the girl, gawking at them.
"Oh, about two years now. Ai and Mako just love skating." Tai replied stopped in front of her on a dime. He helped her steady herself. Lindy couldn't even stop herself unless she just fell or ran into a wall. Lindy turned to Ian who was just having enough trouble tying the strings together. He was not even on the ice yet!
"How the hell do you put these on!" he cried in English and added some more cussing.
"Hang on, God! You're even worse then me when I get pissed." Lindy replied impatiently and tied his skates. She then got some duct tape and taped about two layers of the grey sticky material on the black skates.
"That way you won't get caught on the laces when you skate."
Lindy went on the ice once again and fell down as soon as she stepped on it. This caused Ian to lean on the ledge and laugh his head off. However, Ian stepped on the ice and fell right away. What gives? He shakily got up and fell down again. He had no balance, and everything was slippery. This was skating!?
"Ya call this fun?" He cried, watching Lindy giggling and holding out a hand. He grabbed it-only to take Lindy down with him. The two playfully fought with each other, calling each other names or hitting each other.
Rika, and Takato met up with each other at the ice rink entrance. They looked around holding out their D -Arcs. Hopefully, the devices would get them some hint about where the mysterious digimon was. Since Lindy, Ian, Ai, and Mako were all here, their target was perfect. Renamon and Guilmon were around, hiding. Takato looked at Rika wearily.
"Was Lindy sure it could be here?"
Rika kept her violet eyes out for any sign of a disturbance. People were peacefully eating in the small food court. A group of basketball players were finishing up a game and chatting. The front desk seemed normal as well. She peered into the see through glass where you can get clear view of the skating rink and people skating. There she watched as Lindy was playfully smacking Ian as he tried to trip her around the rink. She almost fell but held on to Ian tightly.
"You have to admit Rika, those two would make a cute couple." Takato made Rika roll her eyes. The red head did notice that Lindy looked at the troublemaker differently for awhile now.
"Yeah? Well we are not match makers today, goggle head! We're Tamers! Now, look around and help me out." The stingy response made Takato forget about the two hybrids and focus on what was going on. Basketball game, front desk, Henry, cute girl that's wearing yoga pants-wait.
"Henry's here." Takato nudged Rika and looked at the entrance to the skating rink. It seemed Henry was already past front desk and was getting to the wall where he could access the arena. The two were confused. Rika was the closest to East Shinjuku since she was on the boarder. Takato had a bike and Guilmon. Last they checked, Henry was waiting for his sister to get off the phone so she could drive him.
Rika's phone rang to the tune of Beyonce's Crazy in Love. Blushing, Rika flipped it open and spoke.
"What?"
A pause.
"What do you mean? We see you right-" Rika cut off looking at Henry inside the arena, holding her phone tightly. Takato tried leaning in closer to hear who it was. Rika grew pale.
"Look, get here ASAP-we got a problem now!" Rika shut the phone off and looked at Takato.
"What's wrong, Rika?"
Rika pointed at the arena. Henry was putting on skates slowly. Something was different. Terriermon was not there and Henry did not wave to Ian or Lindy. It seemed like he was trying to stay hidden.
"Henry just got off the phone with me," Rika began shaking. "He's still at the apartment getting his sister off the phone."
Takato paused registering what was going on. His red eyes went wide.
"But if Henry is still back in West Shinjuku-who is that?"
The twins were naturals at skating. Ai twirled around Lindy who was struggling to stay up. The brunette child spun around so she was skating backwards.
"I thought you could skate, Lindy?"
"It's been awhile-I'll admit." Lindy confessed waving her arms around to find balance. Her hair was starting to get messy from falling and moving around so much. She should have just put in a pony tail. Ai moved to Ian who was pouting. He was clenching the wall hard with wobbily legs.
"Do you want to hold my hand?" Ai asked innocently. Ian twitched his eye a little.
"No. I am a battling machine, NOT a wuss."
At that time Mako skated by fast leaving Ian in the dust. Not without teasing him.
"Wuss."
Ian gasped. "Ok, that does it! Come back, you brat!" Ian pushed himself off the wall and started to skate towards Mako, but soon tripped and landed on his face. Lindy and Ai helped him up. Tai and Yuki couldn't help but laugh a little as the couple skated together.
Mako grinned as he out maneuvered Ian. He looked up and noticed one of the Tamers-Henry was there looking at the arena. The small boy waved and called out his name. Henry did not seem to reply. He stepped on the ice and slowly skated towards him. Mako looked around. Terriermon wasn't anywhere...
"Henry? Where's Terriermon?" Mako stopped as Henry's eyes flashed red and changed quickly back. Mako drifted back with his skates. Something wasn't right here. The way Henry moved was strange, the fact he didn't have his partner with him was strange and just the fact that he wasn't talking was strange. Mako tripped suddenly, and landed on his back. He grunted in pain.
"Mako, you okay?" Yuki asked, but saw the older Tamer still skating and looked like he was holding something behind his back. Yuki frowned and skated over to Mako trying to cover him. Call it mother's intuition, but she knew this was not settling right. Tai was skating towards them and the hybrids just saw the scene unfolding. Ai stopped skating and looked concerned.
Unfortunately, Henry was pulling out a knife weapon and was going to use it on Mako or Yuki. Mako was paralyzed in fear as Yuki was struggling to get him up.
In seconds everything changed. Yuki and Mako were unharmed as Renamon dropped kicked Henry to the other side of the rink. Everyone save for the Tamers, hybrids, and the parents fled the scene screaming. Renamon stood up preparing to battle. Yuki took a quick look at the fox. It seemed like it was another digimon on their side.
"Are you alright?" Renamon asked helping the woman up with Mako.
"Yes. Thank you for protecting me and my son." She answered. The fox digimon nodded.
"You are welcome. Please take the others and get out of here. That thing is not Henry Wong."
With trouble, Yuki eventually got Mako out of the rink although he was kicking and screaming about helping to battle. Ai was caught by Ian quickly as he knew what she was going to do. Lindy followed behind, making sure they weren't attacked.
"Kid, this ain't our fight. We gotta make sure Mako is alright."
Lindy gazed sadly at the battle scene. Was Renamon going to take on that Henry impostor by herself? Ian explained that they couldn't help much in battle being stuck as humans. The two hybrids eventually cleared out but ran into Rika and Takato who had Guilmon right behind him.
"She's in there with that thing. Be careful guys." Lindy called out. The other two Tamers said thanks and prepared for the battle.
Renamon looked at the Henry impostor. He sure looked like Henry. He had the same hair, the same eyes, the same clothing even. However, when he opened his mouth it was distorted and sounded off.
"Renamon...data type digimon..attack." That was all it said as in seconds, the Henry changed his arms into whip like attacks and sent one flying towards her head. Luckily, she ducked in time and jumped in the air.
"Diamond Storm!"
A series of small crystals attacked evil Henry as steam sprouted up from the attack. Ice around the area cracked a little, leaving Renamon to think about the plane field she was in. Slipping on this stuff could be the end of her battle quickly. A whip came out of the fog but it did not phase her. The yellow fox simply dodged to the side and went in for a punch. It was a good hit as Henry was sent flying to the boards. They cracked. He growled and looked at the three new people that had arrived. With inhuman reflexes, he jumped up and started to head straight for Rika and Takato.
"Pyro Sphere!" The red dinosaur digimon let out his attack, sending Henry again off to the side. Renamon tried landing another punch but Henry was catching on, grabbing Renamon's arm and throwing her down the rink. Rika glanced worriedly at her partner. They didn't even know what level this thing was at-let alone if he was a digimon.
"Takato! Anything on your D-Arc?" Rika asked looking at hers. The screen was loading but nothing was coming up. This was becoming the Deva problem all over again.
Takato shook his head. His golden D-Arc was doing the same. Nothing was showing up, and it made Takato angry. This was something they should know how to deal with. Watching the battle, things were not going well. The evil Henry was learning the attack moves of Renamon and Guilmon at an alarming rate. When Renamon would use her Diamond Storm attack, he would run around to try to get her to aim at Guilmon. When hand to hand combat approached, the evil Henry would counter it. He sent Renamon into the boards- almost knocking her out. Using his whips, he took Guilmon and threw him up and down on the ice repetitively like a doll.
Rika finally had a chance to tell Renamon she was going to help. Pulling out a blue card Rika glared her violet eyes at the impostor Henry.
"I don't know what you are. But you are so going down! Digi-Modify! Matrix Digivoultion Activate!"
MATRIX DIGIVOULTION
"Renamon Digivolve to...Taomon!"
The shaman digimon was back and in full force. Using her paint brush she attacked.
"Talisman of Light!"
"Pryo Sphere!" Guilmon added his attack and the two sent evil Henry back and then some.
"My turn." Henry spoke finally before his skin changed into a pale blue colour and he opened his mouth. "Pyro Sphere!"
The same attack that Guilmon used was now turned against him as it hit him square in the chest. The red digimon was sent flying back toward Takato. Luckily, the Tamer caught him and cushioned him from the hard ice. Guilmon asked if he was okay. Takato replied he was fine and pulled out a card.
"Digimodify! Digivolution Activate!"
DIGIVOULTION
"Guilmon Digivolve to...Growlmon!"
A champion red dinosaur and a ultimate fox shaman digimon should have it covered. The evil Henry leapt up to the rafters and started to attack from there. Taomon used her shield to cover herself and Growlmon.
Rika looked around in frustration. This was becoming annoying. Soon, cops were going to show up and news reporters. If they didn't control the situation soon, then it was all over and people or this place could get hurt. Growlmon attacked bringing Henry down onto the ice where it cracked.
However before the evil thing could get up, two figures and a large coil of rope twisted and tied around him. It was Ai and Mako on their skates using the rope to distract him. Quickly, the two kids got him in knots and skated back to the opening where Ian and Lindy were waiting.
"He's all yours, guys!" Ian called, smirking. Mako stuck out his tongue at the Henry figure who growled at the little boy.
Taomon nodded along with Growlmon as they made a good blast at the evil Henry. Data flickered as the evil thing started to go down on one knee. His whips were dissolved away and his eyes were red now. He spat out a remark,
"Don't think this is the end-I will find you with my others. And then I can have my revenge." The rest was not known as Taomon slashed him and made him dissolve into data. It floated away and things got quiet.
"Taomon, you should have let him finish at least," Growlmon called out. "He could have told us more."
"He was getting on my nerves." Taomon replied, flicking her tail in annoyance. "Rika, we should go. People are going to arrive soon."
Rika nodded along with Takato. Luckily, Growlmon could fit through the entrance and the whole group including Yuki, and Tai found themselves in the back entrance where employers would park. There they noticed a black limo and Yamaki standing by.
"Climb in. I can get you guys out of here."
"Even Growlmon?" Takato asked. Yamaki shook his head.
"I don't think it can fit him. Can you meet us back at HQ?"
"Sure, no problem." Takato replied and told Growlmon to go. In seconds they were gone.
"Who is that?" Yuki said whispering to Tai. She held Ai and Mako's arms tightly. "I am not letting my children get into a strange limo with a strange man."
"Yuki," Lindy put a hand on the older woman's shoulder, gently. "That is the leader of Hypnos. He's the one protecting all of us at this point with Project Shield. And, he promised me a way home."
Authors Note: Ian and Lindy turning into Digimon seemed well...stupid. I made it a curse and that's what it is going to stay as. The two will not in daytime be able to access their digimon forms. That does not mean they can't help out though. And wait for next chapter. I think a certain government agent will explain Project: Shield finally and piece it together. No, not the Marvel one. That would be a cool cross over though.
Fun Fact: I put duct tape still on my skates when I go out on the ice. Not that every Canadian knows how to skate, but it's a funny stereotype.
Edit Authors Note: ^ Thank you so much for fixing that problem. It did make no sense having the two change into digimon in the day time. I made it more obvious that everyone is figuring out that Lindy and Impmon actually like each other and the fact that love is love-they aren't going to judge it.
