Day 5
Leaf slowly opened her eyes as the bright rays of sun shone through the slightly transparent curtains. Leaf quietly moaned as she sat up, staring at the clock as she did. As soon as she comprehended what the clock said, she immediately flew out of bed and changed into her uniform as quickly as she could. Right before leaving, she made sure to check Gary's room. Knowing him, he'd probably still be in bed until she came around, but to her surprise, he wasn't there.
"Where is that jerk? He better not be hiding," Leaf angrily mumbled as she closed the doors to the room and ran straight to the front doors of the mansion. She couldn't afford to be late again, especially not because of Gary. It was fine to let him dawdle around for a day, right? She couldn't care less and began dashing to school.
Luckily, she was able to make it through the gates before it closed, refusing to let anyone else enter. Leaf took some time to catch her breath before heading to class. As she ran, all she could see was blurs that were meant to look like lockers and doors, but that didn't matter. Once she reached class, Leaf opened the doors slowly and opened an eye to peek at what was before her. Everyone was staring at her as if their eyes were questioning why she hadn't been in class for so long.
Leaf ignored the intimidating stares as she walked past them and headed to an empty seat. The only problem was that it was next to Gary. She didn't mind, but he was annoying and why was he here so early in the first place?
"Morning, Leaf? Had a nice sleep?" asked a familiar voice as Leaf whipped her head to her side.
"What do you want?" she asked, her blue* eyes already showing that she didn't care. Gary sighed. No matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't seem to crack Leaf's shield and get her to open up to him. Wait. What was he thinking? There was a first time for everything and he was going to be the first one to-
"Gary! What is the answer?" Gary sat straight immediately. He knew that voice from anywhere and he dreaded it. "Gary? Don't make me babysit you again. What is the answer?"
"Um, twenty-seven?" Gary answered hesitantly. The class laughed at his answer and some tried to hold it back, but failed to do so.
"Gary, this is not Math class. It's History," the man said or also known as Mr. Bracken. Gary flinched at his booming voice.
"I'm sorry?"
"Sorry doesn't cut it, young man." Gary sighed. He knew he was going to get detention again. It didn't matter how, he was going to stay back for at least twice a week.
Gary sighed as he walked out of the building, but was surprised that Leaf was standing there as if she was waiting for someone. Might was well tease her when I have the chance, Gary thought. He walked up to Leaf silently, making sure she didn't notice.
"Waiting for me, Leaf?" he whispered quietly as he leaned closer to her neck, his every word sending shivers down her back. Leaf yelped and jumped away from Gary.
"Gary!?" He began to think the brunette was cute when she was scared.
"Hello. Waiting for someone?" he asked, knowing that she would completely ignore him. She huffed.
"I'm waiting for you. Got a problem?" she answered almost immediately.
"Why? I mean, don't you hate me?" Leaf just began walking, her long brown hair swishing behind her. The sunlight had seemed to outline her figure as she walked, leaving Gary speechless as he stared after the girl.
"What are you staring at? Come on!" Leaf called over her shoulder. Gary snapped out of his trance and ran after her and for a while, they walked in silence. Just mid-way, a small white kitten tumbled into their path.
"Meow," the kitten meowed softly, softly pawing Leaf's leg.
"What are you doing here, little kitty? Did you lose your way?" asked Leaf as she bent over and picked the kitten up and scratched behind its ears.
"Come on, Leaf. We should get home soon and besides, that cat probably has an owner looking for it," said Gary as he stared at the kitten with no emotion whatsoever.
"Meow meow (What are you staring at, spiky?)," the cat cutely, as Leaf would put it, meowed. Gary, somehow understanding the cat's language, suddenly became irritated.
"Hey, I've known her longer than you have!" commented Gary as he sent daggers to the kitten.
"Meow? Meow meow meow.(So what? She obviously likes me more.)" meowed the kitten back. His left eye twitched.
"What do you know? You're just a white furball," Gary snapped. It was obvious that he disliked the cat by now and tried to insult it, but failed badly.
"Meow. Meow meow.(Spiky, You suck at insults.)" the kitten meowed back.
"Why you little-!" The kitten snuggled against Leaf, acting as if it was afraid of Gary.
"Gary! You're scaring the poor thing," scolded Leaf, if you could call that scolding. She petted the white kitten and in reply, it purred and licked her hand.
"..." Gary was speechless. He could care less about the world around him, but the sight of Leaf smiling like an angel and petting that stupid kitten made his heart pound slightly, but that kitten was stealing her away!
"Let's bring you home," stated Leaf as she resumed walking home, leaving Gary behind as she did.
"Leaf~!" sang Gary as he opened to doors to her bedroom, but she was nowhere to be found. He heard a small rustle in her bed and curiously pulled the blanket off the bed and found the kitten from earlier. He took his time staring at the kitten as it stared into his green orbs. "What do you want, cat?"
"Meow meow meow. (For you to get out, Spiky.)" Gary began hearing footsteps just outside the doors and got closer to see who it was. He could just make out the voices as they began to talk.
"Have you seen Angel yet?" said a familiar female voice. Leaf!
"Angel? Oh, is it that cute kitten you keep talking about?"
"Yep!" As Gary kept on listening, he noticed that Leaf's voice seemed to be more cheerful whenever this 'Angel' was involved. He glanced over at the kitten who was sprawled out on the bed as if the world revolved around it.
"You wouldn't happen to be Angel, right?" he asked the kitten. Angel just stuck a tongue out at him.
"Leaf!" The said girl immediately rushed in, slamming the doors as she did. Luckily, Gary moved just in time to dodge it.
"What?!" she asked loudly, but sighed once she saw that nothing was happening. "This better not be those times for your pickup lines."
"We need to get rid of that," he looked at Angel once before returning his gaze to the brunette, "thing."
"It's not a thing. She's called Angel," Leaf shot back at him.
"That thing is not an Angel. It's a devil. D-E-V-I-L," Gary spelled it out for her.
"Can I at least keep it?" Leaf asked as sweetly as she could. Gary swore he heard a snicker behind him.
"No."
"Please?" Leaf came up close to him, her eyes big and sparkly and her hands clasped together. "Pretty please?" she repeated.
"Alright fine!" Leaf was just about to celebrate when he continued, "That is, if you give me a kiss." Leaf stared at him, her blue orbs wide in shock. She didn't know what to say nor did she know what to do next.
A chapter dedicated to IchigoHatake, a new FF user, but a good writer who helped with this chapter. Make sure to check out her stories! And yes! I know it seems rushed, my dear readers, but techniques get dull after a while so I'm gonna begin to sharpen them again. Sorry for the lack of romance! Read, enjoy, and review. Sorry for the long wait. Also, I don't own Pokemon. It belongs to whoever it is, but I forgot his name. Thank you for your continuous support to whoever is out there who took some time reading this. See you next time!
