I'm back! With a longer chapter! Yay! In this chapter you'll learn more about about Isa.
Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter, it belongs to J.K. Rowling. I own the plot though.
The house was silent; no one dared to say a word. Of course, they all had heard the argument upstairs. Well, it was kind of impossible when the people were shouting and happened to have forgotten to cast silencing charm.
The people in the kitchen heard a loud bang and someone stormed out of the library; it didn't even take another second for said person yell in frustration. Obviously, it was a teenager. Or Sirius.
"Should we…"
"Do anything?" Asked the redheaded twins. Their mother shook her head in an obvious no.
The library door opened again and the person went down stairs, it was Remus. He looked around, searching for someone. "Has anyone seen Aquila?"
Harry immediately shot up from his chair, which attracted many weird looks from the other people. "What happened?"
"She had a row with her brother and I'm trying to find her so I can try to talk to her." The werewolf said and when Molly was about to say something, he interrupted her. "She's my goddaughter."
"She's still upstairs." Said George? Harry didn't know exactly.
"One of the rooms in the left." Added Fred and then both said, "We don't know which though."
"Thank you, boys." Remus said and went upstairs and Harry had to order his legs not to follow his former professor.
The boy-who-lived sat on his chair again, but now all the eyes were on him, he cursed under his breath; he hated when the attention was on him. Mr. Weasley seemed to notice his annoyance and cleared his throat and asked, "So, Harry, when did meet Miss. Black?"
"Well, I saw her mumbling things under her breath while reading the book I needed, but I said I needed help with my Potions essay, which, by the way, wasn't a lie. Then I told her I needed that book and she said that if I needed help with anything else, I could always ask her." Harry explained and Tonks smirked; the boy shrugged, deciding to ignore the Metamorphmagus' action.
Ginny, however, didn't seem that pleased, "Did you even know she was a Slytherin?" She asked dryly.
"Uhm, yeah, kind of hard to miss the green and silver scarf." He lied, she wasn't wearing a scarf that day, but it's not like he would tell them that he heard her mention it in a phone call with her brother.
The twins grinned, "So you noticed the clothes she was wearing, Harry?" The said boy blushed and Ginny glared at her brothers, but said nothing.
"Yeah, kind of." The twins raised their eyebrows, making all the other people, except Harry and Ginny, laugh. The latter was glaring at the pranksters.
"So, Harry, you and my cousin? Didn't know you had a thing for Snakes…" Said the woman smirking, Harry felt like burying himself.
"Look, Freddie…"
"I see, Georgie, our little Harry is growing up"
"Catching hearts of older Snakes!"
"Such a fine young man we brought up!"
" I'm so proud, Georgie."
"You and me both, Freddie."
Harry buried his face in his arms and said, "Kill me now."
A familiar drawl caught everyone's attention, "I'd love to."
"Can't you just do it? I mean, I could drink a poison and make it look like it was Voldemort Avada Kedavra-ing me." Harry answered dramatically. Honestly, he didn't know what made him say that, but he was so embarrassed that he didn't really care.
"Unfortunately, for us, Mr. Potter, Molly would be most displeased if I killed you in front of her children. However, we could set up another time."
Harry didn't know if Snape was being serious or if he was joking. And he didn't know which of the options scared him the most.
Snape was standing near the kitchen door, glaring at everyone at the table as if only being at their presence annoyed him, which, in fact, it did.
"Rumor has it that two certain blondes decided to pack their bags and finally leave the serpent's nest. For some odd reason, this is the first place that came in my mind." Drawled the professor eyeing all of them as inferior ants. "By the lack of pets in the room, I'd guess that Narcissa and Draco are with the mutt and wolf upstairs."
"Draco Malfoy? Why the hell would he be here?" Asked Ron angrily.
"Ronald, language!"
"Sorry, Mom."
"You better be."
Mr. Weasley decided to intervene and said, "Mrs. Malfoy is upstairs with Sirius, Andromeda and- what's his name dear?"
"I forgot Arthur." Answered his wife.
Harry immediately answered, "Alex. Well, Alexander, but that's not the point. Fred, I'm feeling weird, did you put something in my drink?"
"I'm hurt, Harry, why would you think that?" He answered with the most angelical face in the world. Harry glared at him and Fred said, "Okay, it wasn't your drink, I just put something in your chips to cheer you up."
"Honestly, Harry, you were moping around the house for the last three days. We needed to do something." George completed
The emerald-eyed boy scowled, "I wasn't moping." He mumbled under his breath.
"Yes, you were." Came the chorus from the rest of the people at the table.
From the look at Tonks face, Harry could guess she would go back to the topic he didn't want to go back to. "All because dear Aquila wouldn't wake up."
Snape analyzed Harry while saying, "Dumbledore mentioned that one of my students was staying here. Has Ms. Zabini woken up?"
"Yes, she had a row with her brother and Remus is trying to calm her down." Molly answered. "And you said Ms. Zabini? I believe you don't know about her heritage?"
Snape's eyes narrowed and Mr. Weasley took it as sign of 'you may continue'. "Aquila just provided the name of her father, but only Sirius and Remus understood who her mother is."
"Mr. Weasley, I don't have all the time of the world." Said the professor with a hint of annoyance in his voice.
"Regulus Black and I'm bound to say, the resemblance between Regulus and Alex is quite striking."
"And he is with Narcissa?"
"Yes, he came with her, actually."
Snape took a deep breath and said, "I need to talk to Narcissa, if you excuse me." He turned his back on them and went to the library.
"What a weird day."
"Weird day? What weird week!"
Tonks smirked again and Harry groaned, "It must be weirder for Harry, I mean, that is his crush's Head of House, doesn't he need permission or something to date Aquila?"
"Come on! What did I do to you?"
"Severus, I wasn't expecting to see you here." Said the blonde woman.
"On the other hand, I had suspected that you would be here. I presume that Draco is with your husband, Mrs. Tonks?" Andromeda nodded at the man's words. "Smart move, but that's not what is on my mind right now." He turned to the boy that looked a lot like Regulus Black. "A little bird tells me you are related to Regulus Black. Is that right?"
Alex nodded, but soon remembered his sister's warning of how picky Severus Snape was of people's manners. "Yes, sir."
"You must have been raised really far from here. Your accent is more apparent that your sister's. South America, I presume?" Severus asked analyzing the boy and the mutt. Although Alexander did look like Sirius, he looked more like Regulus, but only the ones who spent a lot of time around the Black brothers would notice that Alex was indeed Regulus' son and not Sirius'.
"Yes, sir. Brazil has its perks."
That ringed a bell in Snape's mind. His sister once said the same thing to him and Lily a long time ago. It was Lily's thirteenth birthday and Katherine had visited them. The Occlumens soon shook his thoughts off his head; it wasn't time to think about childhood memories.
"I've been told." Severus was staring at the boy, trying to find the differences between him and his late friend. There. The hair and mouth. The hair was a few shades lighter, making it a familiar dark brown. "Why pose as Zabini at school? Actually, why haven't I seen you at Hogwarts?" The smirk, oh, the smirk. Severus knew it all too well. It wasn't a cruel or cocky smirk that the Blacks carried around.
"I was homeschooled by my godmother, Milena Zabini. When people ask, we're her adopted children, which is close enough to the truth, so we took her name. Not officially though. But the only ones that know that we're Blacks are Aunt Lena and the people in this house. And Draco, but he's with Mr. Tonks."
Severus looked at Narcissa and she confirmed the boy's last sentence. Andromeda stood up and said, "I'll go back home, it's late and I need to clean up the spare bedrooms for you and Draco to use for the next couple of days."
"Okay, I don't know when I should be expected, but I don't think I'll take longer than three hours." Narcissa told her sister before the dark haired woman said goodbye to the men in the room- receiving only a nod from Severus in return, but that was polite enough coming from him.
Oddly, Sirius was quiet, watching the whole scene. Everything that he heard was crashing his mind, Regulus; little Reggie had children and made him, of all people, Alex's godfather. Hell, even Snape would have been a more probable choice. No that he was complaining, really. But he had ignored Regulus for almost seven years before his brother's death. So why him?
Snape seemed to notice his discomfort and smirked, receiving a glare from his childhood nemesis. Alex sighed; those two were going to make everything harder than necessary.
"Professor Snape, there are some things that my sister and I want to tell you about, but I think that it'll be better if we talk in private. Besides, it's late and I'm horribly tired." Alex said and the Professor tried to enter his mind, unsuccessfully. The boy pretended not to have noticed what the man tried to do, the latter looked a little confused for not being able to enter the mind a seventeen-year-old. However, he quickly put on his mask of indifference again.
The Potion's Master nodded, "Of course. I'll be here tomorrow." Sirius looked like he wanted to argue, but didn't open his mouth. Snape, glaring at the other man, continued, "Dumbledore asked me to say that there will be a meeting tomorrow morning."
"Of course, being Dumbledore's lap dog, it's your job to do so."
"How is that supposed to be offensive coming from the mutt that has to be kept in chains in its mother's house? I believe that you're losing your touch, Black." Snape sneered at the man.
Sirius drew his wand and was about to cast a spell when Alex simply took his wand from his hand and put a hand in his godfather's chest. "Not now, Uncle. I'm too tired for more fights tonight." He turned to the Potion's Master. "Can I trust you not to start a fight?"
"That'll depend on Black's ability of being annoying."
Alex knew it was the best he would get from both of them, but it was enough. Snape went downstairs and they stayed alone once again.
"You didn't tell him."
"Not yet and especially not with you in the same room."
"Fair enough." Sirius said sighing and continued, "You still have to apologize to your sister."
"I know."
"I still want to know what the hell you two were talking about, but you can take your time."
Alex sat in the couch rubbing his temples, he felt a headache coming. "No, it's okay. Aquila is probably telling Remus right now. It'll be only be fair if you heard the story coming from me."
Narcissa, knowing that things would start to get too personal, decided to leave the room quietly; neither men noticed her absence. Sirius sat in a couch in front of Alex, he knew what he was about to hear was personal, so he said nothing.
"Aquila met Isa when the three of us were ten. We were walking near a slum in Rio, she said she heard a scream and we ran towards it. We found a guy trying to rape a little girl inside a hut. We had three choices and none of them involved letting the guy rape the girl. I ran outside and went back to where Aunt Lena was trying to find ingredients for a potion. She left all behind and followed me. I had chosen option one."
Sirius' heart was beating fast, "Where was Aquila?"
"Option two was Aquila taking the girl's place, which she didn't. When I came back with Aunt Lena, Aquila had a crying girl in her arms and a dead man beside them." Alex looked to the ceiling and took a deep breath. "She chose option three. Grab the gun that we saw in a table inside the hut and shoot him."
Sirius put a hand in his mouth in shock, "And she was ten?"
"Yes. She changed, her innocence was gone. Mine too. We all changed. Aunt Lena blamed herself; it took Uncle Malcolm almost three days to get her stable again. Both of them started to teach us offensive and defensive magic after that incident. Then after making Isa trust Uncle Malcolm, he adopted her."
The dog Animagus asked, "Who is Malcolm?"
"Malcolm McGonagall. He also became my mom's guardian when she ran from her home, but that's another story. Aquila and Isa became as close as I was to Aquila, but I wasn't really close to Isa at the time. So when we were eleven, the three of us received letters."
"Isa was a witch?" Sirius was shocked with the coincidence.
Alex nodded, "She received a letter from a school in Brasilia and one in Rio. She went to the one in Rio, as it was the nearest one. I didn't want to go to Hogwarts because I wanted to spend all my time focused in finding a way to bring my mother back while my sister tried to find anything useful in the school. Besides, she wanted to see where my Mom and Dad met."
Sirius seemed to be still digesting the idea of his brother having kids with Katherine, but besides that, he seemed quite interested in his nephew's life.
"Aquila and I talked every day and she exchanged letters with Isa as often as they could." The boy glared at the wall before continuing with the story, "That was until the summer before Aquila's fifth year. Isa and I started dating when we were thirteen, so we became closer. Then Isa came up with an idea of making a connecting herself with us. We needed a Catena Potion, a few rare spells, a bit of blood magic and a powerful caster. Emma."
"Emma was a classmate of Isa's. I met her when Isa brought her to spend a few weeks of the summer with us. She was nice girl, she followed every instruction, but we don't know what went wrong. Isa fell in the ground in the middle of the enchantment. It was only a cold in the beginning, but she got worse every day. Isa started to have nightmares too; she coughed blood, her temperature rose and she kept saying it was okay." A tear fell from his cheeks. "She was never a good liar. One day, Aquila stormed out of Isa's room crying and only came back the day after. Soaking wet."
"Isa once told us that she always had wished for a painless death. I think she reminded Aquila of that wish and asked for something hard for my sister to give: a painless death. I know that the day I entered Isa's bedroom and saw that she wasn't breathing, I knew Aquila had fulfilled her best friend's wish."
Alex was crying and Sirius didn't know what to say. "My sister was only fifteen. And she had already killed two people. And if I'm correct, she killed someone today too, right?"
Sirius didn't know how the boy knew, but he wasn't about to lie about something like that. "Yes. She saved me from Bellatrix."
The dog Animagus went to the boy's side and put a hand in his shoulder. There was no need for words; they remained unsaid and just as strong. Alex let out a sigh and pinched the bridge of his nose. "I have to apologize."
"I know that."
His nephew let out a groan this time, "I know you do, but when I have something important to do, it seems like there is an alarm in my brain that goes off every five minutes just to annoy me."
The Azkaban escapee threw his head back and laughed, "Reg had that. He would scowl and mumble under his breath whatever he had to do."
Alex chuckled and Sirius thought that, maybe, it would be good to have his family back.
So, how was it? Review!
