A/N:
How are you on this fine day my lovely readers? I bet you are inloooveee? : D Well, I just want to greet you all a Happy Valentine's Day (normal day for me lol XD) Anyway! As a Valentine gift for you my lovely readers, I have a double update on ITDD and MBA! Yaaay!
And just to clarify about the previous chapter, I am sorry since I forgot that the culture in my country is different from the western ones. You see, in our country, gays are bullied more because they tend to dress outfits and acts like a GIRL. Yes, I know it may be hard to imagine, but they dressed more than girls, they are bitchier than the "true girls" here. Sometimes they even act and pose like models, beauty queens. So when I first read a yaoi manga and watch yaoi anime, I was quite surprise to find gays who act as a man, you know. That's why I got into a stage of in denial, where I keep saying "They are not gay! They just love a man but they never act like a girl so they're not gay!" where in the end it's still the same thing.
So yeah, I do hope you understand my part on this story. I just wrote it act on instinct. Plus, there is a reason why that scene was written (maybe a naughty role play in the future? Who knows?) Haha. Anyway! Enough for the mumble! And last but not the least, I want to thank WolvesinBoundary for betaing this chapter. You're wonderful and the best!
I hope you enjoy the update lovelies!
Chapter 5
Unexpected Surprises
Dear Diary,
I know it's been forever since I last wrote an entry and I'm sorry for that. This past week was just hell. The teachers have already bombarded us with homework, quizzes and advanced projects. We honestly didn't expect our first week to be so hectic. I guess the teachers were trying to change the norm of our school. They didn't want the students to slack off during the first week. Aside from that, I entered myself with the stupid craps and stunts Izzy and Aline pulled off. I humiliated myself by wearing that 'ladies stuff' and watching that . . . that erotic scene! By the angel! I've never felt so embarrassed in my entire life!
But, even though I needed to deal with their craziness, I was quite happy about it because, no matter how ridiculous their ideas were, they supported me completely. They were the ones who encouraged me to be comfortable in my own skin. To learn the ins and outs of my sexuality. They may not realize it, but they helped me accept who I am and be proud of it. But still, it didn't change the fact that their ideas were just insane, and wouldn't help me at all. And so, I finally decided enough was enough. I'm just going to do it on my own. And I was proud to say that 3 days ago, I finally made it to my parents. They said I should take baby steps; that I shouldn't push myself too much. And so I started it with my family, the most important people in my life. And I had to say, their reaction was one I never really expected. I was just really nervous then, but luckily, I finally did it.
Today is a lazy day, I guess. It's Saturday and I don't know if any of my friends have plans today, though I bet they do. But so far I don't have any plans for today. Oh! Maybe I can write in my separate notebook what happened the day I came out to my family. I guess I'll end my entry here.
Alec
Alec smiled as he finally finished his entry for the day. Ever since he'd come out, he'd been feeling more peaceful and alive than ever before. They had been right all along. The truth would set you free. Now that his family knew, they'd become closer than before. Of course, the whole process of it was truly hell. But now he knew that he didn't regret a single thing about it. The memories of that night were still crystal clear in his mind.
"You need to tell them the truth."
And so, without warning at all, he decided to drop the bomb.
"Listen, everyone. I have very important news to tell you. I'm gay." As soon as the words slipped off Alec's lips, everyone froze in shock and stopped dead in their tracks. Meanwhile, Alec felt his heart stop as he took in his surroundings. He could feel the air was thick with tension all through the room. No one dared to speak a word or even breathe as he dropped the bomb. After a few seconds, Robert finally decided to break the eerie silence and tension around the room by speaking.
"Alec . . . what did you just say?" Alec gulped nervously as he took in his father's appearance. His father's eyes were wide, looking back at him in awe. He could feel his fingers trembling with fear and his knuckles turning white as he finally brought himself to face this confrontation. His heart was beating so fast he was afraid it might jump out of his chest.
'Calm down. Calm down, Alec.' Alec repeated the words in his mind like a mantra. He closed his eyes and released a heavy sigh as he tried to calm down. After a few minutes though he found himself slowly relaxing from the pressure and stress he'd been feeling. When he was even remotely relaxed, he kept on focusing the only thing that was on his mind at the moment.
'You need to tell them now, Alec. Spill everything! It's now or never! Do or die!'
"I . . . I'm gay, father. I'm sorry if I've disappointed you, but this is who I am. I fought hard to suppress this feeling, father, but I can't. Be— because I'm attracted to guys. I've— I've—" He stopped talking and widened his eyes when he felt a finger press against his lips. He tried to find the owner of the digit, but all he could see was a wall of thick chest in front of him. He lifted his head and was met with a pair of deep blue eyes filled with warmth and gentleness staring down at him.
"Alexander, you need to stop rambling. Relax, no one is going to hurt you. I'm proud of you, son." Alec opened his mouth to say something but he found himself choking on his own saliva as tears started to pour down his face. A wave of mixed emotions started to swirl around inside him until he was no longer sure what to feel.
"I— I'm sorry," Alec sobbed as he hugged his father tightly, clinging to him like his life depended on it. He needed his parents' love and comfort now more than ever.
"Oh, my baby! You don't need to be sorry!" Maryse cried as she walked towards them and, not a minute later, Alec felt another pair of warm arms wrap around his back. It was followed by another two pairs of arms curling around him. Despite him crying and breaking down in front of his family, he found himself smiling at the acceptance they'd all shown him.
After the whole dramatic confrontation, Alec found himself sitting at a table with his family eating their dinner together.
"So, my son, when did you start to suspect you were gay?" his father started in as they were eating their dessert.
"Ahm, when I was 13, Dad. I found myself uncomfortable around girls. Especially if they wanted to flirt with me. But with guys, I was relaxed. And I found them very . . . beautiful and attractive." Alec blushed as he confessed his thoughts awkwardly. He found it very uncomfortable talking about his crushes and sexuality to his parents, but at the same time it was refreshing to converse with his parents about it so freely.
He stared as his father was listening to him intently and constantly nodding his head. But, most of all, Alec was touched because he could see the gentle smiles and understanding looks in their eyes that reflected their love and support for him.
"But, Alexander, why didn't you tell us sooner? Didn't you trust us?" Maryse finally voiced out her thoughts and Alec couldn't help but flinch as he sensed the pain and hurt in her voice.
"It's not that, mom, I really wanted to tell you about my secret, but I found myself afraid of admitting it. I was afraid you'd be disappointed in me. The eldest son of the famous Lightwood legacy is a homosexual, who couldn't give his family an heir." Everyone at the table gasped in shock as they stared at him in disbelief.
"How could you say that, Alexander? We would never disown you for something so stupid. No matter what happens, you will always be our son and a Lightwood. It doesn't matter who you end up with. You can still adopt children or have an artificial insemination. Either way you can still build a Lightwood family!" Maryse replied as she burst into tears and became sensitive over the topic.
"Your mom is right, Alexander. We'd only be truly disappointed in you if you kept thinking that way. There is no way we'll disown you. We love you, Alexander. Please remember that," his father agreed as his eyes softened when he saw the tears trickling down his son's face. It broke his heart to see his son like this, torn and afraid of expressing himself to the world because of fear of rejection.
"I – I know. But I can't help it, Dad. You know what happened to Magnus when he came out. His father beat him and disowned him. He was hurt and broken because of it, Dad. I was afraid I would end up the same as him." Robert couldn't take it anymore, so he placed his hand on his son's trembling shoulder.
"Don't be afraid of that jerk, Alec. He's just a sick retarded man who doesn't know anything about love and family. We'll never be like him. You won't suffer the same unfortunate fate as Magnus was forced to. And you must know by now that when Magnus came out to us, we accepted him. And besides, we already had our suspicions that you were gay." Now, it was Alec and his sibling's turn to gasp and look at their parents in shock. Alec felt his tears suddenly stop pouring down his face as he widened his eyes in surprise.
"Yes, Alexander. We already suspected you were gay. As you said, you were uncomfortable around girls. You never gave them a chance to get to know you, apart from your circle of friends. But we don't want to burden you with our suspicions in case we were wrong, so we waited until you finally worked up the courage to come out yourself." Alec felt his tears start to pour down his face at the new revelation. His parents knew all along, but they didn't dare say anything because of their love for him. He would've never imagined how he would react if his parents continued their plan to confront and interrogate him. He would forever be in a state of denial and he would've carried the burden of guilt all along. But his parents were sensitive enough to care about his feelings. And he was happy and blessed that they let him do this at his own pace.
A wave of swirling emotions washed through Alec and, even though he wanted to say many things to them, he couldn't. Instead, he let his actions express the endless gratitude he felt for his parents. He stood up and went to his parents' seats and hugged them tight.
"Thank you, Mother. Thank you, Father. Really, thank you very much for loving me."
"You're welcome, son." Just then Maryse turned to his side and cupped his face while tears continued to pour down both of their faces. "Please always remember that we love you. And never be afraid to be yourself. Alright?"
"I will. I will, Mom. Thank you."
And after that night, Alec's bond with his parents and family became stronger than ever before.
His thoughts were suddenly interrupted when he heard a faint knock coming from his door. Not a second later it was followed by a loud slam and his sister emerged from the doorway wearing a sly grin on her face.
"Good morning, my dear brother! How are you on this lovely day?" Alec rolled his eyes in annoyance as he fixed his study table and hid his diary before Izzy could see it.
"What do you want, Izzy?"
Izzy chuckled in response his gloomy expression. She walked closer to him until she was in front of his bed and abruptly jumped on it. The impact was strong enough for Izzy to bounce on the bed before she settled herself in the corner.
"Aren't we grumpy this morning, Alec?"
"I'm not. I'm just making sure you don't have any murderous intentions towards me." Izzy gasped in shock and put her hand over heart as she painted a fake look of hurt on her face.
"You wound me, brother! I would never plot anything that could endanger you! I love you too much to hurt you, brother!"
"Yeah, you wouldn't hurt me physically but you would torture me emotionally."
"Whatever you say, brother. I'm only thinking of what's best for you." Izzy smirked as she leaned in and patted her brother's shoulder, making Alec scoff in response.
"In case you forgot, I'm the big brother here. I'm supposed to look out for what's best for you!"
"Touché. Anyway, I'm sure you'll be delighted by this news." Alec raised his eyebrow as he narrowed his eyes and stared back at her suspiciously.
"What's the news?"
"Oh c'mon, brother! Don't eye me like I'm some criminal ready to attack you at any given moment!" Now it was Izzy's turn to roll her eyes in annoyance, making Alec sigh. Yes, the Lightwoods really loved to roll their eyes at each other.
"Alright, I'm sorry. I'm just weary and I don't want another thing to further embarrass myself with. So, what's your news?" Alec finally gave in and let her have her way. Izzy suddenly changed her mood and her eyes lit up with wonder as she clapped her hands.
"We'll be having a sleepover at Magnus' apartment tonight!"
"Wh—what?" He stuttered as he forced himself to formulate words at the news Izzy gave. Suddenly his heart was beating so fast and he could feel the blush start to creep up to his cheeks. Now that he had come out, he felt like it was harder to resist and hide his feelings for Magnus. Not when your whole family was teasing you about the guy you like.
"Wh- why? We might be interrupting his plans. He – he might have some important things to do . . . "
"Oh relax, Alec! First off, Magnus is never busy. He was just busy fucking that Ima- what was that bastard's name again? Imachu? Sounded like Pikachu? Yeah, something like that."
"It's Imasu. Not Pikachu."
"Yeah, right, whatever. At least I can use some of Max's anime characters names for those bastards who dared to interrupt my Malec ship."
"Your what?" Alec let out a high-pitched gasp as he stared at his sister in disbelief. Sometimes he truly feared that his sister had gone insane because of the craziness she had swirling around inside her mind.
"MALEC! It's a ship name for you and Magnus!"
"Urgh! I cannot handle this! Your craziness is just insane!"
"Oh geez! You should get used to it! For all we know, deep inside you're feeling giddy about seeing and being with Magnus once again. Especially now that you've come out to the family and our parents have already given their blessings. And, just so you know, Mom and Dad already agreed that we could have a sleepover at Magnus' apartment tonight. So you don't have any excuse not to go out!" Izzy said as she gave him her most sinister smile. Alec glared at her in return while fighting the blush that was emerging on his face once again. He loved his sister more than anything, but sometimes he just hated her craziness and nosiness. She liked to interfere and mingle with others' business, especially his love and sex life. She made it her mission to become a stupid little cupid when it came to him.
And it seemed that her insanity had spread like a wildfire and even their parents had gotten infected with it. He couldn't believe their parents agreed to let them have a sleepover at Magnus' apartment. Not that it was a first time for them to do so. But, somehow, he'd assumed that they would be a little overprotective towards him.
'As if they'd be overprotective of you, Alec. They expect you to be responsible enough not to do anything stupid.'
Just then, Alec remembered another family moment from what had happened during the last few days that, once again, made him feel hot and flustered.
It was Thursday night when Alec arrived just in time, as his mother was cooking their dishes for the dinner. His mother was done with all the paperwork in their office and had come home early, while his father went with Max in the mall to buy him more manga and anime DVD's. When his mother spotted him, she waved her hand to him as Alec made his way towards the kitchen to greet his mom.
"I'm home, Mom," Alec greeted as he kissed his mom on the cheek. Maryse smiled in return and kissed his cheek back.
"Welcome back, sweetie. Do you have homework tonight?" Alec frowned in confusion as he stared at his mother. They had lots of homework today, since the teachers were brutal enough to bombard them with tons of homework during the first week of school. In a normal case, he would be honest and just gone on to settle in and do his homework because he hated cramming the minute before it was due. But when he saw the hopeful look on his mother's face, everything inside him crumpled and he found himself giving in to whatever she could have wanted.
"None, Mom. Why?"
"That's good. Robert said they're on their way and we figured we wanted to bond with you guys. So we're having a movie marathon tonight before your father and I go to Los Angeles for another business meeting." Alec's face brightened when he remembered that the night following his confession, his parents had also confessed that this weekend they would not be around because of a business trip. Just then Alec mentally patted himself for following his instincts. There was no way he would slip out of this request of his parents. He could deal with his homework later— family comes first.
"Sure, Mom. Count me in. I'm just going to go up to my room to change my clothes and I'll be back, okay?"
"Of course, sweetie! Go upstairs and change. We'll have our dinner early, before the movie marathon."
"Okay, Mom." Alec kissed her cheek once again as he went upstairs to change his clothes.
When Alec came back downstairs, he found his mother and Izzy preparing the table. He walked towards them as he helped them fix the table and put the dishes on it. After a few minutes they were done and he sat in his seat just in time for Robert and Max to come from their respective rooms wearing their home clothes. Not a second later they joined them at the table as they prayed and ate their dinner. Just then Alec choked on his own food when his father asked him a disturbing question that made him blush like crazy.
"Alexander, I've been wondering this entire time— who made you realize you're gay?"
"Fa—father, what kind of question is that?" He nearly shrieked in embarrassment as he tried to think up a way to escape this awkward confrontation.
"Well, Alec, you can't possibly just admit to yourself you're gay unless you're attracted to a man. Which brings me to the conclusion that someone caught your attention. So, tell me, who are you crushing on?" Alec's blush went on full blast as he ducked down his head and groaned silently. He didn't want anyone to know he had a crush on Magnus. Especially not his parents.
"Who—who says I'm crushing anyone? I'm—I'm just attracted to those fa— famous actors in Hollywood!" Alec stuttered and raised his voice in an attempt to defend himself, but judging from the look of his father as well as his family, who were trying hard to stifle their laughs, he knew he was bad at it. Hell, he'd always known he was a horrible liar.
"Alec, you know you're a horrible liar right? You just admitted your huge secret to us, what harm will it do to admit who you're crushing on?"
"It's because it's awkward! I'm not talking about this!" Robert sighed as Alec wasn't willing to give in and remained persistent in his stubborness.
"Alec, come on. We just want the best for you, son. We want to know who this special someone that's inspired you so much is. Plus we trust you, son. We know you won't do anything worth the trouble."
"Your father is correct, Alec. We want to be supportive to you. Who knows, one day someone might knock on our door and ask to court you. We need to be prepared for that. Although, in a normal case we wouldn't allow serious relationships since you're still so young, but we also know that you're mature enough to know what's right and wrong. As your parents, we ought to know what's going on with our kids. And we want you to be happy, son," Maryse cut in as she tried to explain their intentions to him.
Alec knew he couldn't resist the puppy-dog looks on his parents' faces and he knew he was about to lose this conversation, and so with a deep sigh he finally gave in and replied to them.
"Fine. It's- It's Magnus." The moment those words left in his mouth he brought his two hands to cover his face as embarrassment washed over him. He couldn't believe he'd really just done that. It was an awkward confession, but at the same time it was quite satisfying to finally free yourself from the burden of keeping it a secret.
Meanwhile, his parents' faces filled with amusement at his confession while Isabelle and Max grinned and squealed in delight. Izzy felt giddy and proud of her brother for admitting his undying feelings for Magnus. She really loved the two of them and had been secretly shipping them. In fact, she even made a ship name for them. Malec. Not to mention her imagination was going haywire when it came to their sex life. Ever since then, she'd made it her mission to get them together. Max, on the other hand, was squealing as his mind was filled with his favorite yaoi couples and how he was planning to make a doujinshi for his brother and Magnus.
"Well, no wonder you found yourself debating your sexual orientation. Magnus is pretty handsome and he has that charm that can attract anyone, regardless of age, gender and even preference. He also has that sense of humor that makes him stand out of the crowd and fill them with amusement. But, I'm just worried about his reputation. It's not that I'm judging him, especially since we know what he's been through, but he has that reputation of being a player in your school. I'm just worried he might break your heart, son, and you'll get hurt."
"No, Dad! He's not a player! Well, he has different partners all the time but it's always been mutual. The people he's been with agreed to his setup. Plus, Magnus didn't mean to be a player. He's just looking for the right one for him. The right person who will love him and accept him in spite of his flaws. Who will see the true beauty he possesses. And with every failed attempt he gets hurt. He-" Alec widened his eyes as he found everyone had gone quiet and were just looking and listening to his explanation intently. He was rambling as he defended Magnus with all of his mind, heart and soul. He finally closed his mouth and bowed down his head. He hadn't meant to snap and burst like that.
"I'm sorry. I-"
"No, you're right, son. Magnus has been through a lot so of course he's gonna have trust issues. And we completely understand your point," Robert replied quickly as he tried to prevent his son from panicking and simply comfort him instead. He knew Alec had been having a hard time admitting all this to them. He knew his son was just as secretive as he was and didn't want anyone to be bothered by his feelings. He was quite proud of his son for opening up to them like he had.
"And just to let you know, Alexander— we support you and Magnus. I know how much Magnus means to you now and I can only hope Magnus will open his eyes soon and realize that the person he's been waiting for is right in front of him. You'll look good as a couple together. But, Alec! No sex yet! Understood? As much as possible, don't have sex yet. But if it's really inevitable, at least use some protection. I don't want you to be hurt your first time!" his mom added as they finished up the last bits of their desserts.
"Mo- mom! Stop thinking like that! It's not like we'll be together! Plus, he doesn't even like me. And we won't have sex! How did we even get into this conversation?" he replied as he found himself hiding his face from his family once again in embarrassment. Angel, this conversation was going to be the death of him.
"Well, I was just speaking hypothetically, Alec. But in case you two ever do get into a relationship, I guess it's pretty obvious you'd be the girl in the relationship. So, it would hurt."
"I told you, Alec! Those things we taught you weren't crap! You really needed to learn that! Even Mom agreed with me!" Izzy finally butted in as she smirked and started to tease Alec about it.
"Izzy! Shut up! That won't happen! There will be no relationship and no sex between me and Magnus! I'm content with just being his friend!"
"Izzy? What was that?" His mom tilted her head as she stared at Izzy in confusion.
"Uhuh. Don't mind him, Mom. He's just in denial. In fact, Magnus has been flirting with him nonstop."
And since then, throughout the movie marathon, Alec was teased by his family about his feelings for Magnus.
"Alec? Yoo-hoo! Alexander Gideon Lightwood!" Just then Alec's reminiscence was interrupted when he felt a pain on his shoulder, only to find out Izzy had playfully punched him to gain his attention.
"What?" he groaned in annoyance, resulting in an eyeroll from Izzy.
"Don't 'what?' me, you dumbass! We're going to be having a sleepover at Magnus' place, whether you like it or not! So if I were you, I'd start packing up my things. And please don't put any holey clothes in there! I'll be back to inspect your things before we go. Come on, start moving. Chop- chop! Time is running out!" Izzy said as she crossed her arms over her chest and looked at Alec with fiery eyes. She was daring him to talk back and complain. But he knew that Izzy would keep bugging him for the rest of his life if he didn't grant her wishes.
"Tss, fine." Alec replied with a defeated look as he started picking up his things and did what Izzy wanted.
A/N:
I know this is a boring, filler chapter, but how do you like it? Are you ecstatic that Robert was not a j*rk in this story? :D I love their family :D. And what do you think will happen in the sleepover? To have a glimpse of it, here's a small spoiler for you guys.
When he didn't say anything, Magnus grabbed his chin and forced him to look at him. Alec's heart nearly stopped and his breathing hitched at their close proximity. He could feel Magnus' warmth around him, his skin tingled with Magnus' breath brushed against his skin. Their faces were just a few inches away from each other. One step forward and he would be sure their lips would brushed against each other.
Did you like it? I would love it if you give me your reviews as a Valentine's gift :D Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Until Then!
