Chapter 7: Reacquainted
Jamie's P.O.V.
We were headed back to The Weasley's and I couldn't help but feel anxious, and guilt. I was a horrible godfather, I thought to myself. Teddy would have no clue who I was, or maybe he did, but it didn't change the fact that I was jailed when he was a baby, just like Sirius. Even if Sirius wasn't actually my godfather, he looked out for me like I was his responsibility.
"Jamie, it isn't your fault." Charlie's voice said, interrupting my thoughts.
"I should have been there though; I should have never been jailed in the first place. I really hate that I had no control of my life from when I was 11 to just about a few months ago." I said.
"That was not your fault, Jamie, just some old coot who was delusional from what you've told us." Sam said from the front seat. I just sighed and looked out the window and leaned against Charlie.
"Jamie, we're here." Charlie said after a bit of silence. I couldn't help but form a smile on my face.
Ron and Hermione were standing outside waiting for us, probably wondering if the case went well. When I stepped out of the car I could hear laughter coming from behind the house, the sound of children playing.
"How did it go, guys?" Hermione asked.
"It went as planned, thanks for the potion." I said. Hermione smiled and gave me a hug and Ron turned and gave me a hug as well.
"Well, mate, mum has been waiting for you to get here. I think she still thinks you need some fattening up." Ron said. My brothers laughed behind me as we walked into the house.
"Nah, you should have seen him a couple of months ago, when he showed up at our friend's house, Molly would have had a cow then." Sam said.
"If he was anything like Sirius was, I don't doubt it. Azkaban doesn't treat their inmates very well." Hermione said. I paled at the mention of it, it was something I try not to think about on a day to day basis.
"I still have nightmares." I whispered. My best friends turned to look at me sadly.
"Do you take the potion?" Hermione asked.
"Only when he really needs it, right before we met you he had to take some." Dean said. Hermione nodded.
"Good, just be careful with that stuff, it is addicting." she said.
"I know, I may have not liked our Potion's professor but I did listen." I said with a grin. She smiled and rolled her eyes as we went into the kitchen, which was situated at the back of the house so Molly could see her numerous Grandchildren playing outside.
"What's he like?" I asked timidly to Charlie. He gave me a sad smile but sat me down at the table.
"Teddy is just like Remus, but he is quite like his mother as well." Charlie said. I nodded and looked at him. "And he only gets cranky on the full moon, he doesn't turn."
"Good, I know that Remus was worried about that." I said. Charlie smiled and nodded and got up to go and get him.
"I'm so nervous." I said.
"It's only to be expected, have you even seen him?" Sam asked.
"When he was a month old, right after his parents died." I said sadly.
"Poor kid, nobody should lose their parents that young." Dean said. I nodded empathically and Charlie then came in with a young boy about 9 with turquoise hair and amber colored eyes. This boy had to be Teddy, he looked so much like Remus that my heart sank.
"Jamie?" he asked timidly. I nodded and he rushed to me and wrapped his arms around me and squeezed as if he let go I would disappear.
"I'm here now, Teddy." I said into his hair.
"Uncle Charlie and the others told me all about how you were wrongfully imprisoned and everything. I wanted them to take me to Azkaban to meet you but they didn't want me to go, something about it being not a kid friendly place." Teddy said.
"Oh trust me it isn't. I'm glad they didn't. The Dementors would probably affect you greatly." I said. Teddy nodded and stepped back and stared at me for a second before turning to my brothers.
"Who are you?" he asked bluntly. Dean chuckled.
"My name is Dean, Jamie's my twin brother and this is Sam, our younger brother." Dean said. Teddy smiled and nodded and turned to look at me.
"Uncle Charlie said he was going to teach me how to be a seeker, but Uncle Ron told me that you were better, would you be willing to teach me?" he asked.
"Ah, you're a seeker then? That is the best position if you ask me. But unfortunately I haven't played the game since I was sixteen, I may rusty." I said.
"Now that I don't believe." George said walking into the room with the rest of the family following closely.
"Even if I'm not, I don't have a broom." I said.
"Not necessarily." Hermione said with a smile. Her hands were behind her, holding something. When she moved them forward she brought out a broom that I hadn't seen in such a long. I stood up and went over to her, my hand out and my eyes wide. It was my Firebolt.
"Where did you find it?" I asked faintly taking it from her.
"You wouldn't believe how long it took us to find it mate. Before he left England, Mione wanted to find it and bring it with us to give back to you." Ron said. I looked up at her and hugged both of them tightly.
"Bro, it's just a broom." Dean said with confusion.
"Just a broom? This is just not just any broom. This is a Firebolt, one of the fastest models out there." Ron said. I smiled and I looked back to my best friend.
"Do you have the equipment?" I asked. Ron just smiled and nodded and the grown Weasley's grabbed their brooms and Oliver grabbed the case of balls with Ginny and the group went out back.
"Are you sure this is a good idea, I know Uncle Jamie doesn't mind but his brothers are muggles." Said a young girl who looked a lot like Hermione.
"Rose, it's fine, they are immediate family so they are allowed to know." Hermione said. I smiled and looked at the girl. She had curly red hair with brown eyes that sparkled with intelligence and I knew at once that this is Hermione's daughter.
We made it to a field a while a ways from the house, it was in the middle of a thicket, and I could literally feel the magic around the area. Arthur more than likely put a spell here so that muggles would not notice them playing.
"So what exactly are we doing?" Sam asked.
"We, little brother, are going to do a warm up just to see if I have kept my seeker reflexes." I said.
"You're reflexes are great though." Dean said with even more confusion.
"Yes, but that's with fighting and hunting. This is for a game that I became quite fond of while being held captive." I said. My brothers shared a look and but looked back at me and shrugged.
"Don't worry, Sam, Dean, you can keep the kids occupied." Bill said. The look on Dean's face was hilarious.
Dean's P.O.V.
I looked around at the kids that had come with us to this little field and I wasn't all that comfortable. The kid with the blue hair looked up at me and smiled, and I looked over at my little brothers and sighed.
"Alright, but they better not put any spells on me." I said. The adults laughed and the kids grinned at each other.
"Um, Dean, I don't know if you remember my accidental magic, but I had no control of it." Jamie said. I completely forgot about that.
"Oh yeah, like the time you turned the sawed off into a teacup when you and Dean got into that fight when Dad went after that poltergeist in Columbus, Ohio." Sam said.
"Scared the hell out of us." I said. Hermione turned to Jamie with wide eyes.
"How old were you when you did that?" she asked. Jamie shrugged and looked over at us.
"I think we were about 8 or 9." I said.
"What were you doing around guns at that age?" she shrieked.
"Dad taught us how to shoot at 6." Jamie said.
"You have to think about it from his point of view. Our mother was killed in a very supernatural way, by something evil, and he had to protect us and teach us to protect each other whenever he was gone on a job." I said. That cooled Hermione off when she thought about that.
"Well, let's get this show on the road. I call Jamie, Angelina, George and Bill." Oliver said.
"Well then, I get Ginny, Percy and Ron." Charlie said.
"That's a little unfair." Sam said.
"Don't worry, everything will be fine." Jamie said. The nine players gathered around the middle of the field and swung onto the brooms and shot into the air.
"Holy shit!" I exclaimed as I watched my brother fly on nothing other than a broom.
"Teddy, release the balls!" Charlie exclaimed.
"Okie doke!" the kid called back and he went over to the chess and opened it up and out flew a couple of balls and then Teddy picked up a red ball and tossed it into the air, which was immediately caught by Angelina has she zoomed and weaved through the players.
"This is actually pretty neat." Sam said from next to me.
"It is also dangerous." I said.
"It depends on who is playing, Jamie is one player that can be pretty extreme." Hermione said from beside us.
"What do you mean?" Sam asked.
"What I mean is that your brother has a habit of giving me a heart attack." she responded.
"That I can agree with, Dean can be the same way." Sam said. Hermione chuckled as I scowled at Sam. Suddenly the kids cheered and we turned back to see Jamie and Charlie in a dive, Jamie way in the lead. My eyes bugged out as he neared the ground and grabbed something and pulled out of the dive and skimmed the ground.
"He's insane." I whispered faintly.
"Yes, I know, but he is good. If he wanted to he could play professionally." Hermione said nodding in agreement.
"Uncle Jamie, Uncle Jamie, can you please teach me?!" Teddy exclaimed as he bounded over.
"Maybe tomorrow, I'm kind of tired." Jamie said.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine, nothing a good night's rest won't cure." he said.
"Right, well I think dinner is done anyway." Bill said. Jamie had a smile on his face and we headed back to the house for the first home cooked meal I've had in a while.
