Before you get to reading this next chapter, I just wanna say happy holidays to all of you! I know it's about a few minutes before Christmas (when I update this) but I just wanted to wish you all happy holdays and may the new year bring many joys to your life!
" Nick, you should eat," Danny's mother urged with a genuine motherly smile on her face. Nick looked up from her plate, she met eyes with Danny, who nodded his head slightly to let her know she should play along. She picked up the fork that laid next to her plate that whole time and began to twirl the spaghetti noodles around it. She took a bite, bringing a smile to Maddie Fenton's face.
" So what did you kids do today?" Maddie asked, turning her attention to some pieces of lettuce that were proving to be troublesome in her salad. Danny swallowed down his bite of spaghetti, seeing Jazz's glare from across the table. He tried to pretend he hadn't noticed and replied," Nothing much. We all kind of just bummed around at the park today." Jazz rolled her eyes, did she hear differently from her little mentoree Dash? She had been schooling him during the summer like she had been through his freshman year. This time, he met Jazz's stare and shot one of his own, retaliating to his older sibling. He finished his spaghetti right after Nick had and they both returned upstairs. Danny sat down at his computer, looking back at Nick with irritation when she watched over his shoulder. His computer immediately had the sound of feedback again, making Danny growl in frustration. He was about to restart it when suddenly, a crazy idea dawned on him.
" Are you the one making my computer act up?" Danny asked suddenly, looking back towards Nick. She shrugged and then said," quite possibly, there are some ghosts who have strange effects on technology, some ghosts even feed on the energy the technology uses to keep their ghost powers in check. That's usually the case if one has used too much of their spiritual energy." Danny turned around, more confused than angered like he should've been.
" Can you stop it then? It's really messing with my computer," Danny asked. Nick shook her head," I can't actually, it does it on its own. My apologies, I can leave the room to see if that makes it better," she suggested. Danny shook his head," Don't worry about it, I don't even remember what I was going to do now." He sighed in frustration and flopped down on his bed. Nick remained seated where she was and only continued to stare at Danny in her version of confusion, which wasn't too different from any of her usual emotionless expression, but Danny had learned to spot the microscopic differences. Although he'd only been able to depict whether she was confused or normal. She was just a hard person to read was what he guessed. She moved to her bed and sat down there, observing his alarm clock, noting the time and then began to twiddle her thumbs. He wondered if she was bored or expecting something to happen.
" How was the spaghetti, was it good?" Danny asked with a smirk, turning his head towards her. She looked up at him, folding her hands neatly on her lap.
" I couldn't really tell, I can't really taste your food. However, I bet if I could it would've been along the lines of delicious. I'm not one too familiar with home cooking though," Nick replied. Danny tilted his head," Why not? Didn't you have parents when you were alive?" Nick stared at the ceiling, concentrating hard. She shrugged," I cannot recall anything from when I was alive actually. It's quite strange honestly, but that does not matter to me anyway." Danny stared at her as if she had lobsters crawling out of her ears.
" Whaddya mean 'it doesn't matter to me'?!" Danny asked surprised," Shouldn't family matter to you?!" Nick only shrugged again, this time her confused look returned.
" Am I supposed to care? How does one care about something when they cannot remember anything of that subject?" Nick asked. Danny growled and rolled over, burying his head under his pillow. He couldn't believe this, she actually didn't remember anything from her past life! Nick stood up and walked over to Danny's bedside, where he partially removed the pillow to glare at her with the one eye he uncovered.
Then, she stood up suddenly, a wisp of cold air had escaped her lips before she could say anything.
" Daniel, the enemy approaches quickly. Get out of here while you still can please," Nick ordered, moving away from Danny and towards the window. Danny watched in horror, but then shook his head," No way am I just going to sit this one out! I need to see who this is!" Nick looked back towards him, her eyes paling before she leapt back and tackled him off of the bed and to the ground. Her weight knocking him to the ground before she dragged him to Jazz's door. She knocked on Jazz's door, and stared up at Danny's older sibling before she could ask what was going on.
" Take Daniel somewhere safe, quickly before they get here," was all Nick needed to say before Jazz was dragging her younger brother out the door with her shoes in her other hand. They were just about to pull out of the driveway when the car was lifted up high in the air and then dropped like a dead weight. The landing crushing the car under its own weight, all of the windows smashed. Danny turned ghost and shot out of the roof of the car, fury rising up within him as he met up with Nick. Danny looked in the direction where she was glaring. His eyes widened and his jaw dropping as he quickly recognized the enemy. The figure only turned toward him and smiled devilishly.
" Well hello Danny, long time no see."
