Hey guys! So I thought I would just do a quick clearing up of some details I forgot to erase when I was writing the chapters. Okay so in the first chapter I said that Loke was a classmate. Forget that. Also Lucy's mom became frail when she bore Lucy. But she lived until Lucy was the age of 4 maybe 5. That's all I really want to correct right now here is the next chapter~
Lucy: That wasn't as much as I expected.
Fairy: I left out one bit and the spelling mistakes.
Natsu: I can read it just fine.
Lucy & Fairy: -mock despair- Oh nooooooo!
Happy: -giggles-
Natsu: -pouts-
Fairy: Okay okay lets start our newest chapter! -Glitter falls from the sky and when it's gone we're suddenly in Magnolia.-
Lucy's P.O.V
In the morning I woke up with the sun shining brightly on my face. So I covered my face with a pillow and tried to get back to sleep. It was Saturday. For once I was getting to sleep in and yet the sun decided not so much. Which I totally didn't appreciate. I wanted a break from this craziness for maybe a day or so. I think I kinda deserve it too. Even so, it's not like I'd been running around with a bunch of supernaturals and listening to important enemy conversations I'd heard from a bridge over a river. Oh wait! Yes I was.
I groaned dramatically in exhaustion and agony as my pillow slipped off my face. It was then that I promptly remembered that I was on Lisanna duty for a good duration of the day. I heaved a sigh and sat up in bed, my covers falling to the floor. I rubbed my tired eyes then stood on wobbly legs so I could walk to my dresser where I chose a blue t-shirt and black shorts. 'I decidedly hate mornings. Almost as much as I hate Natsu.' I scoffed at my own ridiculous musing. 'At this point I don't even know if I hate him or if I want to be friends with the guy.' My mind had just been a whirlpool of confusion, fear, and other lovely emotions like that, these past few days.
I did a once over of myself and was happy to find little to no bruises since my father was so very drunk and tired last night. I was a little sore but I actually felt pretty good for once. Y'know because I get to hang with my friends and I don't have to hide myself so much. I would for once not have to worry about people seeing the bruises my father inflicted the day before, which were usually gone either the next day or soon after. It depended on the wound inflicted. I'd often been called a liar when I was little because they vanished so fast. If I told someone what my father had done to me and showed them the bruises, they would believe me for like a day. The next, all the bruises would be gone and my skin cleared up. They would accuse me of lying and using make up to fake it. I once even heard they thought it was because I was attention deprived. They wouldn't listen to anything I said and totally ignored my pleas for help. Not long after I decided to just stop trying. I accepted that my father was the only parent I had and that I'd killed my mother therefore I needed to pay for it.
Brushing my teeth and hair was a quick event. When I was finished I headed down to the kitchen where I made myself some toast with jam. Virgo and Aries both flitted around looking for things to do, to keep them busy, but we ended up gossiping. Apparently Aries and Loke had become an official couple while they went on vacation! I congratulated her with a hug and many girlish squeals. Virgo just smiled softly then said that if ever hurt her she would punish him. We all burst out into giggles. I hugged them each and told them I would be back later on. They waved as I stepped out the door. Both of them bore mischievous expression and I was too busy, wonder the reason for them, to see the person in front of me whom I then bumped into. I sighed. "Morning Natsu." He was silent. I peaked up at him and realized that he was staring at my front door. I thought it was going to melt the way he was glaring at it. I snapped out of my trance and whacked his chest to get his attention. "Hey! What in the world are you glaring at? And why are you here anyways?" He didn't answer me again. "Oooooooookay..." I went to step around him. Natsu's hand encircled my wrist and he yanked me backwards. "Ow! What was that for?! What is with you today?!" He gave me a pained expression, as if he wanted to say something but didn't know how, and I softened a little. "Hey. It's going to be alright. Lisanna is going to be just fine. Nobody will let her get hurt." My comforting helped it seems because he released my wrist. "Now." I dusted myself off. "Shall we go?" He rolled his eyes and strode past me. 'Okay I guess this is us going.' I jogged to catch up then matched pace with him.
Natsu marched up to the siblings' front door ahead of me. He rang the door bell and we both waited in a semi-awkward silence. I could hear the giggles coming from behind the door as it opened. "-and then he threw up all over the car." Another burst of giggles from the four girls as Levy finished her story. "Was that an Ex-boyfriend story?" Levy turned to me and nodded. "Yeah it was. His name was Jeremy. He was from Science. (What up Wizards of Waverly Place reference!) I smiled and glanced at Natsu, a fiendish grin already forming on my lips. "Well Natsu, unless you wanna stay girl talk and make overs...?" The threat was clear as it could be. He gave me a face, glared, then walked away with a wave to Lisanna. We all laughed and I was ushered inside where the girls had set up snacks and a movie. My jaw dropped when I saw what we were going to watch. "What?! THE MAZE RUNNER?! I LOVE THIS MOVIE!" The gushing over Dylan O'Brien, Thomas Sangster, and Will Poulter, set a new fangirl record.

About halfway through the movie there was a knock on the door. Everyone groaned in unison as Mira pressed pause. We'd all taken a vote before the movie on who would be answering the door if need be. I was picked. I heaved myself up and dragged my feet on the way to the front hall. I could see the outline of an unfamiliar person. I glanced at Mira whose posture immediately melted into a protective stance in front of her sister. The rest of the girls closed ranks around her as well. I refocused my attention on the figure behind the door again. I turned the knob slowly and slid it open a crack. "Hello?" A gruff voice answered. "You can't protect her forever. We'll get her." I swung the door open wide to see whoever it was threatening my friend but found nothing there. I slammed it shut once again and cursed loudly. "It's okay guys." I walked back into the room and met eyes with everyone individually for a second. "He's gone." Lisanna gave me a look and I shook my head. "It's cool Lis. We're your friends. I would do this for anyone of you." It was funny. I'd know them only for a few days and yet I felt more protective of them than I had of anyone in my life. It was like I knew I could protect them and I would do anything I could to keep them safe. An odd feeling but it felt right. I rejoined them again as the mood slipped into the previous girlish happiness and Levy pressed play.

At around 5:30 I was finally on my way home. We'd finished the, amazing, movie and snacks like three maybe four hours ago but we ended up chatting and gossiping like the girls we were for a good while. The only reason I left was because Loke texted me saying that my father was asking for me, so I reluctantly told the girls that it was time for me to go. I texted Bisca to come and take over. I met her the night before when we were discussing how to protect Lis. Or rather I dictated and they agreed but whatever. She's really cool and has an absolutely ADORABLE daughter. She was really sweet but how she knew certain things at such a young age was strange. Speaking of strange. I wasn't walking alone. Every few minutes I thought I would catch a glimpse of someone following me. I wasn't worried though. I was probably just being paranoid.
Other than that, my mind had been running in circles around the same topic over and over again. Who's the keeper? I mean Natsu said that she'd left before reinforcing the barrier so that made her a coward. I had a different feeling. I think that she could tell that the wall wasn't working anymore and tried to convince the others to try something else. Maybe they hadn't listened. So, in light of her discoveries and the cold treatment from her friends, she ran far and fast to escape this town. I also figured she did have a child. I mean in the stories there is almost always a hidden hero. I'd always thought it was a cool thing but I'm just an author after all. I create the story and manipulate it for the hero. But this girl. This girl would be a hero. She would figure out another way to save this town without giving up her life. Of course that's how it would go. Stories nearly always end with a happily ever after. I wanted this one to have a happily ever after too. I smiled at the sky as I made my decision. 'I will give everyone here their happily ever after.
While I had been distracted by my own thought process I'd made it to my front gate. I sighed heavily, the front gate protesting with a loud creak as I pushed it open. I slowly walked forwards to the door, dreading what my father wanted with me. The first sound that greeted me was the deep laughter of my father and another man. I slid off my shoes and crept quietly into the living room, where I saw my father sitting, smile present on his face, beside another man whom seemed vaguely familiar.
"Lucy darling! You're home." My father embraced me quickly then clutched my shoulders. "You had me worrying." I smiled. This act was familiar. He would repeat the same facade every time a business associate would come over for dinner. I had always obeyed my father and played along. "I'm sorry father. I was with some friends not far from here." My father leaned close to my face. "Play along well or you'll regret it." After the near silent threat, he forced a false grin onto his face then turned so he was looking at his "friend". "I told you Lucy that you can just call me dad." I knew the part inside out at this point. "Okay dad. How was your business trip?" We connected gazes and I regretted asking the question the moment it left my lips. A cold fire in his eyes told me things went badly. "It didn't go the way I wanted it to but it's alright Lu." For just a second I heard something in his voice. Something familiar from when my mother was alive. It was gone in a split second though. His voice returned to the cold and distant tone that was normal for me. "I still got what I wanted in the end." His voice sent a shiver down my spine. The way he spoke reminded me of the snake he was. My father was a ridiculously powerful business tycoon who was extremely experienced at getting things to go his way, no matter what he had to do.
The man sitting on our couch stood up and approached the two of us. He held out his hand, a complacent smile present on his cracked, dry lips. "Hello Ms. Heartfilia. I'm Jorgan Havfrin. I am a close business partner with your father." I took his hand without a thought and shook it quickly. My hand grew hot and I pulled it away from his. I glanced down at my throbbing red hand. 'What? Why?' I looked up to him again and noticed his smile had a threatening edge to it now.
My father's hand tightened on my shoulder. "You can go upstairs now Lucy." Nodding my head, I kept my gaze focused on Jorgan as I turned and retreated into my bedroom. I peeked down the hall once more before turning the knob and opening the door. I backed into my room so I could keep my eyes on the hallway and when I finally closed the door I sighed.
"Hello Lucy." I screamed. "What the-?!" I spun around and saw Wendy perched on the end of my bed, Plue's head resting calmly in her lap. I breathed out a sigh of relief, "Jeez Wendy! Don't sneak up on my like that." She gave me an apologetic smile. "Sorry. I didn't mean to startle you." I rubbed my temples in exhaustion. "It's fine Wendy but what in the world are you doing here?" My eyes flickered over to her again. She was looking around nervously, trying to avoid the question. "Weeennnddyyyyyy." She gulped then closed her eyes, her lips pulled into shaky smile. "Y-Yes?" I quirked a brow curiously. "What are you doing here?" Wendy cleared her throat a few times then buried her face in my dog's fur. I heard a quiet squeak. "What was that?"
"N- t- m- t- f-u-" I caught a couple of sounds. I when and leaned in really close. "Hmm?" She peeked up from my dog's pelt, "Natsu told me to follow you." I hung my head low and sighed deeply. "Why." It was less of a question and more of a demand. She shrugged. "I dunno. I didn't ask. Besides I wanted to get away from him. He's been acting really distant lately." I looked up and felt my heart squeeze at her expression. I walked over and sat next to her on my bed. Wrapping an arm around her I pulled her into my side. "Hey. It's okay. He's probably just worried about everyone because of the conversation that was overheard." She heaved a heavy breath then nodded. "Yeah you're probably right. He's just worried about Lisanna and everyone."
We sat there for a moment before her head snapped up. "Wendy?" Her face was pulled into an expression of terror and confusion. "Lucy," She said slowly. "Why do you have an anon in your house right now?" I whipped my head in the direction of the door which immediately burst open. I stared in fear as I recognized the anon on the other side of the door. "Hello again Ms. Heartfilia." A grotesque smile spread across his face. "Jorgan. I knew there was something wrong with you." I glanced down to my hand that had reacted to him earlier. Wendy whimpered in fear as he stalked over to us slowly, dragging out the excitement of the whole spectacle I assume. "Your scent is making me ravenous, Ms. Heartfilia. I made the right choice in coming here. You're special and now I will have you as well as your tasty looking little friend." I snarled as his unfocused eyes slid to Wendy's quivering figure, surprising myself. Jorgan rose both his brows and stared at me in amusement. "A feisty one you are." He licked is cracked lips. "I like my meals to be challenging."
I jerked my head around to look at Wendy, "Why does he have a face?" She sucked in a breath. "He has a face because he's either an original anon or he was born of my ancestors and the anon." A dark chuckle came from behind me. "You are very smart for a little one." He straightened as if proud,"I am of the original-" He didn't get to finish. I kicked him to hard where it hurts most. His face twitched with indescribable pain as he sank to his knees. "I don't care." He glared up at me but I didn't give him a chance to retaliate. My left fist connected with his chin and he lurched backwards, dropping to the ground on his back. "RUN WENDY!" I grabbed her wrist and we both took off. Together, we bolted down the stairs and though the front door. I looked back over my shoulder and saw Jorgan's staggering form resting against the door frame. "KEEP RUNNING!"
Wendy and I didn't stop until we were standing outside Erza's house. Or at least, she said it was Erza's house. Rang the door bell repeatedly until Erza finally opened the door. "What are you two-?" I pushed passed her inside, answering her unfinished quest at the same time. "Original anon following we'll explain in a sec." Erza didn't hesitate. She slammed the door behind us and whirled around. Her scarlet red hair was tied up in a messy bun, she was dressed in rumpled pyjamas, and she only had one sock on. I smirked despite the situation and looked to Wendy from the corner of my eye. Her lips were quivering from the effort she was exerting to keep herself from smiling. Erza caught on and blushed a colour not too different from her hair. "I was asleep okay?! I'm on Lisanna night duty." She mumbled the last part as an excuse.
There was another knock at the door and we all froze, wide eyed, deciding between fight or flight. "It's just me." I mellowed at the sound of Natsu's voice. "Thank heavens." Wendy mumbled, the relief evident in her voice. She looked down into her hands. I followed her gaze and saw a weird little device strapped to her palm.
Erza strode over to the door and pulled it open. Natsu was standing nonchalantly on the other side. He didn't even have time to ask why we looked so tense before Erza grabbed his arm and yanked him inside.
"Whoa! The he-" He broke off when he saw the look in Erza's eyes. Her glare could have melted the polar ice caps. He held his hands up in surrender and looked to me to explain. "Original anon. I kicked him down and he's been coming after us." He gave me a look as if half wondering "why you" and half already having suspicions as to "why me".
"What are you doing here Natsu?" Erza crossed her arms over her chest and stared him down. He physically flinched then turned to Wendy. "I called him here." The little blue haired girl squeaked. I furrowed my brow. "How did you do that?I mean we were running then we arrived and he showed up here almost instantly. When did you have time to do that?!" She held up her palm. "Well Natsu sent me to watch you, he also gave me this thingy," She shook her hand to emphasize that she had no idea what it was. "So I could alert him if anything went wrong."
I directed my own heated glare towards Natsu, where he stood still burning under Erza's. "Naaatsuuuuu... Why did you send you sister to watch over me?! Lisanna is the one being targeted not me! If you want to help then have Wendy shadow her." I folded my arms over my chest crossly and tapped my foot in impatience. "Explain yourself."
"Why can't you just be thankful I did? I mean something went wrong didn't it? Someone came after you. It's obvious that Lisanna isn't their only target." He started to pace as if trying to force the puzzle pieces to fit. "Maybe you over heard a false conversation or something." I groaned in exasperation. "So what?! Even if I did someone came to Lisanna's door and said, and I quote, "'You can't protect her forever.". Natsu! It's not me they are after. That was one lone anon who thought he could take a bite out of Wendy and I just happened to be there." I glanced at Wendy, warning her to play along. I looked back to Natsu who was now staring at Wendy intently. Wendy looked as if she was already about to crumble under her brother's stare so I intervened. "Wendy would you like to take a minute and sit in the living room?" I directed my gaze to Erza next. "Will you go with her? Make sure she's alright? I need a minute with stupid over here." I jerked my head in Natsu direction and he scowled at me.
Erza nodded and led Wendy to what I assume was her living room. When they were out of hearing range I sighed and stared at Natsu for a minute. He got fed up with waiting. "WHAT?!" I sighed, something I seemed to be doing a lot of lately. "Look. I don't know what you all know obviously but I do know that the anon aren't after me. So start focusing you energy where it's needed." He grumbled something under his breathe then went to sit on the stairs. I sat a stair below him and leaned forwards to rest my head on my knees. I wrapped my arms around my legs and just stayed there for a minute.
"How did I even become a part of this mess?" My voice was muffled by the material of my jeans against my lips. I knew he heard me though. He heaved a sigh and I felt him lean back. I don't know how I knew but I knew. I could feel it. "Because you're a good person who wanted to help us. And you just so happen to have the same scent as us. Sweeter actually." I thought for a second before a question popped into my head. "Why does my scent affect you differently than the others?" He inhaled sharply, as if surprised by the question.
"It doesn't." His voice was calm and steady but his heart wasn't. I couldn't explain how but I could hear it beating a mile a minute. I lifted my head to look at him. He gave me a cold glare. In the past that glare would stop me from pursing the answer to my questions. Now however I stared right back. "Yes it does. You're lying. You're heart betrays you." He stared at me for a moment. "Just leave it alone Lucy." I quirked my eyebrow in curiosity but I did as he said and left it alone. For now.
I stood and started to look for the living room. "It's this way blondie." He grabbed my wrist and pulled me behind him, into the living room where Wendy and Erza sat chatting idly. They stopped as soon as we entered. Erza took one look at us and went bright red and began to sputter. "O-oh. So y-you're in that kind o-of relationship." I furrowed my brow in confusion, not sure what she meant, until I remembered that Natsu had a hold on my wrist. 'She probably thinks we're holding hands!' I jerked my hand away from Natsu. "Erza. Breathe. We're not like that don't worry." As I said that I was half waiting for Natsu to agree but the other part of me was hoping for something else.
Erza got a hold of herself and stood. "Okay. Natsu, because he hasn't seen you, go out and scout around to see if he's still close by." He gave a short nod and vanished from sight. She then turned to the two of us and pinched her chin between her thumb and forefinger. "I need to disguise the both of you." She jogged up her stairs while we waited in a short lived silence. Wendy was the first to speak up. "Why did you lie to Natsu?" I remained quiet.
A few more silent seconds went by. "Lucy. I'm not backing off here. Please tell me why you lied to my brother." I gazed into her eyes and saw nothing but concern for the people she cared for. I couldn't fight her anymore. Her big eyes and determined expression utterly incapacitated my stubborn decision to not explain. I closed my eyes for a moment. 'I'm so going to regret this.'
"I lied because right now we need to focus on Lisanna. They came to her house." Wendy glared at me. The most adorable little girl ever glared at me. "They also came to your house! What happens if Natsu was right and you really did over hear a faked conversation." She glared again but this time I saw the deep seated worry shining in her eyes. I leaned forward and hugged her. "Wendy. I'm going to be perfectly fine. They probably suspect me to be the person who overheard their conversation is all." I gave her shoulders a light squeeze. "Nothing is going to happen to me."
"They could kill you for overhearing them." My head jerked up when a new voice joined our heart to heart. Natsu stood in the entry way with Erza standing just behind him. I let Wendy go and sat back against the chesterfield. "I think I can protect myself." Erza leaned towards Natsu and whispered something in his ear. He looked at her and nodded then turned his attention to me again. I was half paying attention half playing with a little stuffed bunny I'd found in the corner of the couch.
"Wendy could you go upstairs for a minute please?" The softness of Erza's tone caught my attention. She rarely spoke without her usual authority. Wendy grumbled under her breath, something about never being allowed to listen to the "adult" conversations. But she went without argument.
When she was gone Erza and Natsu plunked down on either side of me. I groaned. "Damnit. I knew I shoulda followed her up stairs." Erza grinned for a moment but then it was gone. "Lucy I know you're knew to this and you don't know us very well but we have the responsibility to watch over this town. You live here now so that makes you part of this town." I shook my head insistently. "I know you guys feel responsible for me. You're not. I am responsible for me." Lie. "If I felt I needed help of that they were after me I'd ask for help." Lie. "Trust me I know what I'm doing." Lie.
Neither Erza not Natsu seemed convinced. "Besides. They said Lisanna and I'm positive that they didn't fake that conversation. If they had lied I would have known. I would have felt it." I crossed my arms over my chest again, signifying that I wasn't going to discuss this anymore. Erza looked as if she was mostly convinced but Natsu was still stubborn as ever.
"How would you have known?" My eye flickered over to meet his. "What do you mean?" He didn't blink. "How would you've known if they were lying?" I opened my mouth to explain but nothing came out. 'HOW DO I ANSWER THAT?! I JUST KNOW.' I tried again. "I just know Natsu. Like you just knew I was in trouble that time when you saved me in the ally behind the store you work at." Erza stiffled a laugh. "Natsu? Work?!" It turned into a full blown laughing fit. "He hasn't worked a day in his life." I gave her a confused stare and she stopped laughing. "Oh you were serious?!" I nodded, "Yeah I was being serious." She looked at me with surprise. "Oh well..." She turned to Natsu. "How about you explain this to the both of us then?" We both swivelled to face him, waiting patiently for him to speak.
"Okay." He grumbled something under his breath. "What was that?" Erza looked pretty annoyed that he hadn't told her about this. "I w.. f... y.." I narrowed my eyes. "A little louder Natsu."
"I WAS FOLLOWING YOU! LOUD ENOUGH?!" My jaw dropped in shock. "All they way back then?! Why?!" That was like the first day I had shown up. He bit the inside of his cheek reluctant to speak. "Look. I was suspicious of you. Most people are quiet on the first day but you entered the room loudly." I glared. "No I didn't!" He shook his head. "No no I don't mean like noisily. I mean like you entered and it was as if everything was suddenly louder. Everything was bright and smelled clearer. I could even taste the pencil lead and dust in the air. Everything was increased ten fold. It's why I didn't like you right away. When you're around everything is so overwhelming. I could hear his breathing when he came after you. I could hear the scream building up in your throat. As soon as he was gone though I couldn't concentrate on anything. So I left as quickly as I could."
I just kind of sat stunned for a few minutes. Erza didn't speak either and apparently it was making Natsu uncomfortable. "So I've explained something about me. How about you tell me the truth behind those injuries? The ones you claim are from rugby? Or was it hockey? Or even football?!" He caught me off guard with the accusation. A fair accusation true but still an accusation. I got defensive. "How is that any of your business? Since when did I agree to tell you anything about myself. Oh that's right. I didn't." Heavy on the sass.
"I think you kind of owe me. I mean I did sort of save you life. Twice." He stopped for a second. "Let's not make it three times." I gave him a quick sheepish grin then frowned, once again focusing on the topic at hand. "I won't tell you. It's just a little too personal." He backed off and it was quiet for a moment.
"Okay what about your mom? I told you about my parents and you've spoken, a little, of your father. Tell us about her." Another personal question. 'You know what. I'll tell him. I think he at least deserves to know that. And I trust Erza. Now... How do I phrase this...' I pursed my lips, considering how to word this. "My mom was an amazing woman. She taught me about the stars and the solar system. She taught me all the constellations. She spoke of how they kept the balance between the heavens and the earth. She taught me everything worth knowing. Unfortunately she died when I was really young. She had an known disease that no doctor could cure or even understand. My father blames me for her death and it is my fault. I've accepted it as my fault." No one spoke for a while.
"So are you guys done talking yet?" Wendy was staring at the three of us curiously. I nodded. "Yeah, we're done." I stood and glanced over my shoulder swiftly. "I have to go home to make sure my father is alright. I'll see you guys later." I didn't wait for a reply. Closing the door behind me, I started walking home again.
About ten minutes later I realized I had no idea how to get home from there. I pulled out my forgotten cell phone from my jeans pocket and texted Levy.
Me: Hey Lev. Kind of lost on Blue Belle way.
Lev: Hey! Okay well you just have to walk up the street towards Carton Hill and you'll see Strawberry street from there.
Me: Thanks Lev! Ttyl.
Lev: Later
So I followed her instructions and I still ended up totally lost. "Damn it I should have asked for directions from Wendy when we got to Erza's." The only place I knew how to find from where I had ended up was the bridge. It was a 1/2 mile walk. 'I could find my way home from there!' As I decided on how to find my way back to my house, my phone had started vibrating. I struggled to pull it out of my pocket in time. I managed to press talk before it stopped ringing.
"H-hello?" There was a bunch of garbled speech on the other end. "Hello? I can't understand you. Who is this?" More noise and then some static. "Crap. What if that was Loke." I mumbled under my breath as I punched in the number that had just called. It rang a few times before someone picked up. "Hello? You just called this number who is this?" There was silence on the other end then some maniacal laughter. Which led me to believe it was either a prank call or one of my friends just being stupid.
The laughter grew quieter and a deeper, hypnotic sound took over. I couldn't hang up my phone, I couldn't even move it away from my ear. I just repeated over and over, "Hello? Who is this? This isn't funny anymore." as my eyes slowly started to feel heavy. I stumbled as I continued walking. A shiver flew down my spine. I felt as if hands were reaching out, trying to grab me, trying to drag me into the darkness.
Suddenly, out of no where, Natsu was in front of me. It looked like he was calling my name. Trying to get my attention. He tried to pry the phone from my hand. As soon as he finally ripped out from my clutching fingers, I collapsed. He caught me with a second to spare and lifted me, cradling me against his chest. My head lolled backwards, limply hanging. My eyes were half closed and I couldn't feel anything. I slipped slowly and involuntarily into a dreamless unconscious state.

The next thing I knew I was laying on a now somewhat familiar bed. I blinked open my eyes reluctantly and gazed around. It was really dark. I could feel him though. He was watching me. I smiled groggily in his general direction. "Morning. What's going on? Why is it so dark?" I felt a hand cover mine. "Lucy. It's the middle of day. It's only dark to you." Panic began to surface at his words. "What do you mean?" He hesitated for a second. "Well-." Another voice, Wendy, chimed in to finish what he was saying. "You're temporarily blind Lucy."
