"W-Wait, what?" Megan said, confused. "We're going? Right now?" Chiron seemed surprised. "Why would you wait? Your mother is in danger, so we obviously have to move quickly." Piper laughed and put her arm around Megan. "I forgot you're new. When a quest is urgent, we basically just leave immediately." Kayla suddenly appeared in the doorway.

"I'm coming too." She said. Chiron winced. "Kayla, you know that it's good to only have three quest members." Kayla frowned. "So?" Chiron sighed. "It's good to have good luck on quests. Plus, it would be good if we had an experienced quest member, to teach Megan and Millie the ropes."

Kayla sulked. "Fine." She turned to leave. Megan stopped her. "Kayla?" She paused. "What?"
"I'll make sure to invite you the next time my mom is in potential danger." Kayla cracked a smile. "'Kay."

Piper motioned to them. "Come on." She said. "I'll show you were Rachel lives." Piper led them up the hills to a big cave with a dramatic purple curtain over the entrance. They walked inside. Rachel was drawing on the walls.

She was currently drawing a picture of a sun falling to the earth, and a maze on fire. She was amazingly good. Rachel turned around, and dreamy look in her eyes. "Something's about to happen." She murmured. "I've been having these feelings." Piper cleared her throat.

"Um, Rachel, we're here for a prophecy." Rachel looked up in surprise, her red hair falling in front of her eyes. "How come?" She asked. Megan told her. She nodded. "Ok, then come here. I try not to make it to creepy, but since the last oracle was a mummy, the bar isn't too high. It still kind of freaks everyone out though. Can't say I blame them. Anyway, hi, I'm the channeler of the Spirit of Delph, speaker of the prophecies of Phoebus Apollo, slayer of the mighty python blah blah blah. Approach, seeker, and ask."

Piper stifled a grin. "You're really not doing well with the whole 'creeper fortune teller' vibe." Rachel grinned. "Sorry," Megan didn't feel nearly as nervous. "Um…, how can I save my mother?" She said.
All of the sudden, Rachel's normal eyes rolled back into her head. Her eyes glowed green. Megan jumped back and stifled a scream. Piper ran over to catch Rachel.

Rachel spoke in a hoarse voice:

When the forbidden child walks the earth
and the goddess of maidenhood is rebirthed
Fear and Panic attack with lies
and the Sun and the Moon sit side by side

Rachel suddenly sat up, her eyes normal again. "Whew. That one was weirder than usual." She seemed completely unfazed that she'd just channeled the spirit of a green thing.

They discussed the prophecy with Chiron. He frowned. "That is most mysterious. But then, prophecies rarely aren't." He added. "You should leave at midnight tonight, because that is when the moon is highest, and Artemis's power is greatest."

They all nodded solemnly. Megan was nervous, sure. But she was also excited to prove herself, and save her mother. It wasn't often such a powerful goddess was captured, and it was sure to be difficult. Megan didn't care.

That night, Megan slept badly. Of course, she only got three hours of sleep. Weirdly, when she stepped outside to meet her friends, she felt like Megan had just gotten a good night's sleep. Millie and Piper weren't out yet, so Megan decided to try and shake off her nervousness by practicing.

She shot arrow after arrow at the targets, each one splitting the last. Megan tested herself by going farther and farther away from the target to see if she could still hit the goal.

Each arrow kept splitting the other in half. Megan imagined she was killing every monster in the world that would stand in her way.

She felt a hand on her shoulder. Instinctively, she spun around and put an arrow at the person's throat. Megan relaxed when she saw it was just Piper. "Whoa, there." Piper laughed. "I come in peace!" Megan lowered her bow. "Sorry," She said. "I guess I was just jumpy."

Piper shrugged. "That's okay. I was jumpy on my first quest too." Millie walked up too, yawning. "How long have you been up?" She asked. "It was really hard to get up without waking up Clarisse, and believe me; Clarisse does not like people to disturb her sleep."

The trio told Chiron that they were leaving. He nodded gravely. Kayla gave Megan a tight hug before she left. "Kill some monsters for me." She said. Megan promised that she would.

And, for the first time since Megan had arrived, she stepped out of Camp Half-Blood's borders.
