On his way to Zelda's room, Pit overheard a few conversations. Apparently, last night two more Smashers disappeared; Fox and R.O.B. Things weren't looking good. The angel quickened his pace, but he didn't want to attract unwanted attention from curious Smashers who'd be willing to do anything for information on the current situation. As he walked past Toon Link's room, he heard Ness say, "I'm starting to worry. What if the culprit comes to one of us next? I don't want to be kidnapped!" And then Lucas: "I'm beginning to think it might not be as safe here as we thought it was."
Pit's eyebrows creased with worry and determination. He didn't want anyone else getting kidnapped. He needed to see Zelda.
Once he reached the room that the princess shared with Samus, he knocked three times and awaited an answer. The door swung open and the blonde assassin opened looked out at him. She raised an eyebrow. "Do you need something, Pit?"
"Uh, yes, actually. I was hoping to see Princess Zelda. It's urgent."
"Is this about that whole Dark Link situation?"
Should he tell her? It wouldn't hurt. "Uh, yeah. It is."
Samus nodded. "Zelda's in a match right now. It's probably almost over, though."
"Thanks Samus!" And with that, Pit left her, running down the hallways toward the teleportation room.

Zelda shot a well-placed Din's Fire attack to Bowser's nose. He stumbled backwards, and Zelda jumped to a higher platform. However, Bowser soon recovered and leapt after her. He attempted to a Grab and Throw, but the princess ducked and spun around, so she was then behind him. She kicked the back of his shell and he fell forward. She then quickly transformed into Sheik and began to pummel the over grown turtle with a series of kicks and punches. Bowser got up and swatted her away, and the Sheikah tumbled into a pillar. She quickly recovered and threw some of her needles at him. A deku nut landed next to the Koopa King, and he scooped it up and threw it at her. Sheik however caught it, and then lobed it back at the turtle. While he was stunned, she turned back into Zelda and performed her Forward Aerial, the Lightning Kick, and successfully ended the match.
They were both returned to the teleportation room, where the Hylian saw a very anxious looking Pit standing in the doorway. "Great match!" He said.
"Thanks, Pit." Zelda replied. "Did you need something?"
"Oh . . . yeah. Um, can we talk? It's about Link . . . and Dark Link." The angel said.
"Oh." The princess looked surprised, but quickly masked it. Many years of practice, Pit told himself. "Yes. Come with me." She turned and walked calmly out the door, and Pit followed. They eventually reached the Commons, where the two sat down across from each other.
"So what is it?" Zelda got straight to the point. "Must be important."
"Why do you say that?" The angel asked.
"Your face. You look very stressed."
"My—oh." Pit flushed red, embarrassed.
"Its okay, Pit. So what happened?"
"A lot. I think we've figured out why the Smashers are disappearing."
"We've?" Zelda asked; eyebrows raised.
"Yes. I went to see Link last night. Er, Dark Link. Well . . . " And Pit explained the conversation he'd had with Link the previous night.
When he'd finished explaining, Zelda stood up so fast she nearly knocked her chair down. "Oh, this is NOT good. Pit, we need to inform the Hands, immediately. You go talk to them, explain the situation and tell them that I sent you."
"What are you going to do?" Pit asked.
"I'm going to the basement. I need to release Link."
Pit nodded, and they both dashed off to their destinations.

Zelda ran down the basement stairs, eager to apologize to the hero. However, she was stopped when she heard voices. Very familiar voices . . . she pressed herself against the wall and tuned in her Hylian ears.
"I told you, you don't need to do this! Just fight me! Take me! I don't care, but leave the other Smashers out of this!" She heard Link say.
"You really don't listen Link. I will not be fighting you, or anyone. I won't need to. That's why I've been taking them. These fighters will only get in my way! The pieces have been hidden well, but I intend to find them, and soon." This was also Link's voice, but Zelda detected a very different tone. It must be Dark Link. She considered coming out and fighting him, but she couldn't do that. Not now. It wasn't time yet . . . she would need to be patient.
"What pieces?" Link prodded.
Dark Link laughed. "Do you really think I'd tell you that? Sorry, but it's a bit classified at the moment. But I wouldn't worry. You'll figure it out soon enough."
And with that, Zelda heard some words that she couldn't make out; they were too quiet. And then there was a loud sound, like a large stone being moved. Then it was quiet, but not for long. She heard a muffled whimper. Shaking her head to clear it, the princess stepped out from behind the wall, and saw Link, well, Dark Link's body, gripping the bars of the lonely cell in the corner. She ran to the table on the opposite side of the room and grabbed the keys that unlocked the cell. When he heard the jingling sound of the keys, Link looked up and saw Zelda. The princess could see there were tears in his eyes, but now his expression was relived. "Zelda!"
"Link! I—I'm so sorry. Pit told me everything." She put the keys in the lock and opened the door. The hero stepped out and gave Zelda a hug.
"I'm so glad you believed him. I though maybe—considering Dark Link's past, you wouldn't."
"Of course I believed him. Pit's an angel. He can sense lies."
Link sighed, and they stood there, in each other's embrace, until a small crash interrupted them. The two broke apart and looked in the direction of the noise. Pit was lying on the floor, groaning. He looked up. "Ugh—sorry, guys. I didn't mean to startle you. I was just coming to get you. The Hands want to talk."
Link rushed over and pulled Pit to his feet. "Thanks, Pit."
"Oh, it was nothing, I—"
"No, really. Without you, I might have been in there forever. Thank you."
Pit's face flushed. He wasn't used to compliments like that. "I—sure. Anytime, Link."
And with that, the three of them dashed up the stairs and towards the Hands' office.
In the hallways, they got many shocked and confused looks, but they just kept going. They soon reached the office, and stepped inside, Zelda closing the doors behind them.

Dark Link wandered the library, scanning the shelves as he walked by. He was looking for something—something very important to his mission. Five of the pieces had already been found, and five more were still hidden. The shadow-dweller was looking for a book titled The Keeper. This book, however, was not actually a book, but a case, which supposedly held the sixth piece. After a long period of scouring the shelves, the demon found the book he was looking for. Upon opening the cover, the noticed that there were no pages, but instead it was a shell. An empty shell, containing a bright blue fragment. Dark Link picked up the piece and stared intently at it. Only the ominous glow that in radiated spoke of its hidden power. Alone, the fragment would do nothing. But when united with the others, it would become something that could destroy anything and everything in its path. Dark Link slipped it into his pocked, and stepped into the shadows, leaving not a trace that he had been there.

SUSPENSE! I hope you all enjoyed the update! It was hard for me to find the motivation for this. I think I did mention in a previous author's note that I'm currently suffering from minor depression and borderline personality disorder. And that makes motivation hard to come across sometimes, but thinking about all of you guys always makes me feel a little better. :) Thank you so much for being supportive and your lovely reviews always make my day! Wanna make today? See you again soon.
