Chapter 7: An Unexpected Visitor

Recap: Sesshomaru looked at both of them, they both seemed to like they were in their own little world. Taking in Kagome's story, he couldn't help but wonder how attractive she was to him. He marveled at the way her long black hair pooled down her back in soft waves. The way how her cobalt eyes changed like the sea, drew him to her. He noticed how her soft lips puckered and pout when she was though of something unpleasant. Stopping that form of thought quickly noticed a shadow from the corner of his eye. They were being watched…

The shadow was small, almost unnoticeable had Sesshomaru not had his head looking in that direction. Getting up he moved towards the shadow without making a sound, he quickly moved a chair that was pushed up against the metal wall. Behind the chair was a frighten animal. Sesshomaru had to almost double take at the creature. It looked like a cross between a kitten and a baby fox kit. Its fur was creamy white, with black stripes on its two tails, its paws were dipped black, along with its ears and its eyes were huge and innocent like a deer in head lights, however they held a peculiar shade of red.

Confused Sesshomaru continued to examine it from his crouching position and didn't realize that the 'frightened look' that the creature was making was just for show. Getting into a defensive position the creature leaned back on its hind legs preparing itself for its attack, catching Sesshomaru by surprise. The creature sprang into action and used her well sharped claws to slice Sesshomaru in the left cheek. A trickle of blood immediately started to slide down his cheek. Taking a step back Sesshomaru whipped his gun out prepared to let that little monster from hell met its maker, when Kagome grabbed his arm.

"Sesshomaru don't, that is just Kilala, she is my friend Sango's pet she must have stowed away in one of our bags before we went on our mission," she said as she picked up the hell demon. "She doesn't know you and considers you a threat. She is just a cutie when she gets to know you," snuggling her cheek up against the cat. Kilala instantly calmed being her arms and started purring.

Glaring at the 'cat' Sesshomaru spoke venom in his voice. "I don't know what that thing is but it isn't a cat. It needs to be sent back to the bowels of hell." In reaction to his statement Kilala bristled in Kagome's arms prepared to give him matching scratches on his opposite cheek. Kagome giggled and started petting Kilala's fur to calm her down.

"You right, she isn't a normal cat. She is one of Sango's experiments. She has the DNA of a Turkish van cat and a Northern American red fox. You see Sango isn't with the agency that Hojo and I are in. She loves science and doesn't want to lose her soul to people fighting a pointless war. However, she has been known to help me out from time to time. Her estate isn't that from where we are now actually. Well, it is far she lives in Madrid, Spain. We'll have to cross the Atlantic to take her back which we can't do until the chip has been decrypted," Kagome said absently stroked Kilala fur listening to her purr.

Sesshomaru sat down in a nearby chair looking at her interaction with the animal. Then turned his head to look at Hojo working on decrypting the chip. After a few moments of watching Hojo's hand fly over the keyboard. Sesshomaru spoke, "How secure is this place? I mean, is it safe that he is decrypting that thing here?"

Kagome paused in her stroking for one moment then continued saying, "Yes, this is the safest place to decrypt the Shikon Chip here. You see I love Souta like family but any spy knows that circumstances change when one is pushed in a corner. We don't know who is out to get us so as a safety precaution we have several safe houses set up all around the world. This safe house is off the grid from the agency, and only the Eri, Yuka, Ayumi, Hojo and I and now you know that this place even existed. Since they are dead only us three. Hojo knows the set up better than anyone and it was funded by Sango. So there isn't any reason to worry. I recommend that don't leave until we figure out what the hell my team died for."
