Previously:
Natsu stopped as he heard Lucy's name.
"Yes her. She was still crying in the end, even after she got rescued. She said that somehow she felt like that there was something or someone missing in her life, as if she was waiting for someone else to rescue her. But in the end it was the blonde man who rescued her and tried to cheer her up. Hmm…but I never saw her again after that. What a shame."
Natsu and Happy felt guilty. It was supposed to be them who were gonna rescue her. But where were they when she needed them? All because of a stupid wish…Lucy had suffered.
"I'll save you this time Lucy, you can count on me." Natsu said as he exited the prison and headed out to the rocky mountain.
"I-I'm…never gonna ride t-the t-train…urgh!...again…" Natsu stuttered, trying hard no to throw up as Happy tried to pull him out of the train's door after finally arriving at their destination.
"That's what you say every time Natsu."
"A-are we there yet…Happy?" Natsu asked as he tried to stand up and walk.
"We are already here Natsu." Happy replied to the sick dragon slayer as he finally got him to leave the train's doors. He dragged him on the station's floors, thinking about how hard dragging Natsu was. Usually it would be Lucy who slings Natsu's arm on her shoulders and drag him 'till they got to the client's house, but since she wasn't with them at the moment it would have to be him who drags Natsu's heavy body across the floor.
"Excuse me. I don't mean to pry or anything but will he be alright?" a young woman suddenly approached them as she pointed at the pink haired lad.
"Aye! He'll be fine. He's like this all the time." Happy answered the woman but Natsu's barfing reactions said otherwise.
"I'm actually a hotel employee and my job is to endorse our hotel to tourists. Do you guys have a place to stay? We have medicine in our hotel if you'd like." She smiled brightly.
Natsu finally had the energy and raised his head up to look at the woman. Though his eyes were still a bit hazy, his head still spinning, he could make up that the woman had a blonde hair that reached down just below her shoulder blades, like Lucy's. She also had a curvaceous body, seeing as how her blue uniform hugged her curves. Then she had a soft smile that made him almost believe that she was actually Lucy.
"L-Lucy…" he called out as he slowly crawled towards the blonde girl, making her step away from him and look at him with disgust. But he caught her ankle and pulled her towards him, making her shriek as she fell down on her bottom. He wrapped his arms around her waist and the woman tried to pull away from him fiercely.
"Excuse me sir but would you please let go?! This is sexual harassment! I'm calling the police if you don-"
"L-Lucy…I'm sorry…" he slurred as if he was drunk, making the woman stop trashing. "Please don't be m-mad anymore. Happy and I are here now…p-please…stay…"
The woman stopped for a moment, suddenly feeling pity at the random stranger who was hugging and almost crying at her.
"Sorry. But we're looking for a blonde girl. Natsu, with his motion sickness, must've thought she was you." Happy apologized while carrying the lad as he finally spread his wings in the air.
The woman stood up and brushed the dirt off her clothes. "I'm not the Lucy you're looking for though, sir. I'm sorry." She sadly smiled at Natsu, whose eyes were still spinning. "Wait here." She quickly walked towards her bag and pulled out a small plastic bag. Then she walked back towards the duo and held the bag in front of Natsu. "I may not be this Lucy girl who can make you feel better, but for the meanwhile take this. You'll need the energy to find her." Natsu weakly accepted the bag from the woman. "They're medicine for motion sickness." She gave him a smile, making his sickness lessen.
"Thanks lady. Say, do you know the way to the rocky mountains?" Happy asked.
"Oh you're heading over there. It's a bit far from here. I guess a day's hike 'till you get there. It's in the southernmost part of this city. Don't tell me that's where you guys are…"
"Aye sir! That's where we'll be looking for Lucy."
"Oh dear. Do be careful. Fiore's number 1 guild, Sabertooth, has their headquarters residing there. I don't recommend you guys go there. They're really scary and powerful."
"But Lucy's there…" Natsu suddenly answered, determination suddenly mixed in with the tone of his voice. "I don't care how strong they are; I will come and save her."
The woman was taken aback. Just how much did this Lucy mean to him? "I see" She smiled once again. "Good luck to you then. But do be careful with Minerva. She's the guild master's daughter and she's powerful as he is. Then there's the infamous twin dragon slayers, Sting and Rogue…"
"Will do! Thank you nice lady!" Happy yelled as he flew up the sky, carrying Natsu along with him.
"Wait! I never got to know your name!" the woman shouted.
"I'm Natsu! Fairy Tail's fire dragon slayer." He answered, giving her his famous cheeky grin with his motion sickness finally gone.
She blushed as he smiled down at her, their figure slowly disappearing in the sky. "My name's Lucy." She whispered.
"Natsu…I don't think I can use my magic anymore. I used up too much max speed for one day…" the blue exceed whined as the dragon slayer carried him on his arms.
"Don't worry about it Happy. You've brought us to the mountain anyway. We can camp out here tonight and cover the rest of the mountain tomorrow." He laid down the blue exceed atop his camping bag and soon the exceed feel into a deep slumber.
The fire dragon slayer made a camp fire, making sure that the blue exceed won't freeze to death during the night, and sat in front of it. He stared up at the starry sky, thinking how much Lucy adored the stars. Sometimes when they were out at night, she would teach him some of the constellations the stars formed and their history. Mostly he would ignore her or day dream while she was talking, but right now he missed her lessons very much…and her presence the most. He had never realized 'till now how much she changed his life. How many people he had met and became close with. How he would go in and defy all of his beliefs just to save her. How much did she have an effect on him?
As if the heavens could hear him, a star shot down form the sky. Luckily he quickly noticed and closed his eyes to make a wish. He hated doing this. It made him feel like a gay and weak. But right now he needed to believe in something. Wishing for everything to get back to normal and to see Lucy again…he needed something to lean on, to push him further and look forward to tomorrow. Just something to believe in after wishing for something he regretted so much.
He opened his eyes again as the star finally passed through. As if on cue, a sound of breaking branch caught his attention. His nose caught a scent so familiar that he did not need to see the person. He already knew who it was.
He quickly stood and ran towards the scent, leading him to a forest just at the foot of the mountain, 'till he found himself at the center of it. The scent of trees, fruits and berries covered his nose and soon he lost the familiar scent. He cursed under his breath.
"Shit. I was so sure she was here."
Just then his peripheral view caught a light. It seemed like torch light. He turned and followed it, branches and twigs scratching up his skin leaving tiny scars but he didn't care. He was close. So close to her.
"Lucy!" he screamed her name as he finally pushed away the bush that separated his view of her.
A blonde turned to look at where she heard her name. But instead of happily seeing each other again, the salmon haired mage frowned as he caught the sight of the one thing he hated seeing the most.
Tears running down Lucy's face.
Sorry for the long wait for the update yet it's a short chapter. I still have an early class tomorrow and I just wanted to finish this chappy XP
And no, the Lucy in from the train station is not the Lucy we know. Just someone who looks like her and has the same name as her. The real Lucy is the one in the forest :)
But I'll promise to make it more interesting in the next chapter
Hope you enjoyed it.
