AN: Holy hell guys, I'm so sorry that this took 5evr to update. I lost my muse for a while, and then even with the 50th special and all, I just didn't know what to do. However, I was browsing my fanfic page and saw that there were a few new reviews so I looked at them. One mentioned that I screwed up with my continuity, saying Jack had the Doctor's eyes in the first chapter, but then in chapter 5 I said he had Rose's eyes. I fixed that and I'm terribly sorry for that mess up. ANYWAYS, I figured, it being Christmas and all, I should gift you with a new chapter of "Tearing Apart the Universes" soo enjoy!
Disclaimer here.
"I love you, Rose. I promise you, I'm not leaving you again," The Doctor said with a small smile. "It's been six years, right? That must've been hell for you. I can help. Let me watch him, so you can take care of yourself for a bit. Get a haircut, go to the spa maybe, and buy some new clothes? Whatever would help you relax, my love."
Rose bit her lip, wondering if she could really leave Jack with the Doctor. What kind of trouble would he get himself and Jack into? Do you really want to know, Rose? She asked herself. No, you don't. But he's offering. Let him watch Jack. Maybe they'll connect. Take this as a trial run; if Jack likes him, you don't have to kick him out yet. "Fine; I would love to spend the evening at the spa. C'min here," she grabbed the Doctor's hand and lead him to the kitchen. Rose began to point out Jack's favorite foods, what he shouldn't eat and drink; she wrote the number to her mum and dad's place, and of course 112 and 999, in addition to her new phone number.
The Doctor was positively giddy. He was going to spend some time with his son, and Rose would get to relax tonight. He grinned at her before he wrapped his arms around her and swung her around. "Oh, this is going to be brilliant, Rose; absolutely fan-tas-tic!"
Rose rolled her eyes and called Jack into the room. The young half-Time Lord bounded into the main room, a blue cardboard box in his hands. "Mummy, who's tha' skinny man, and why's 'e in the 'ouse?"
"This is Mummy's friend, John. John decided to pop in for a visit, and told Mummy she should go to the spa. So while I go out, John's gonna watch ya. Be a good boy, okay, love?" She ruffled his hair looked him in the eye. "John's a bit of a weirdo, so you keep him in check, a'right? I'll be back later."
The Doctor squatted down to Jack's level and looked at the crudely made TARDIS in his hands. "Woah! That's a pretty cool box ya got there, Jack."
"'S called the TARDIS," Jack said, looking at his mum. Rose was getting her coat back on and gave Jack a quick kiss on the forehead. "Stay out of trouble you two. John, I mean it." She squeezed the Doctor on the shoulder and then she was gone.
Once she was gone, the Doctor brought his attention back to the toy blue box. "The TARDIS, hm? What's that do then?"
"Mummy said it tra'els. In space 'nd stuff. 'S bigger on th'inside. Ma daddy, he lives in it. Saves the world," Jack sounded rather sad when he spoke.
"He saves the world? Wow! Is he like…superman or somethin'?" The Doctor grinned.
Jack shook his head. "No, 'e's not like that. 'E doesn't got a cape. Mummy said 'e useda wear a leafah coat. Now 'e likes ta wear suits. Kinda like yours, John."
"What made him change his mind? Suits and leather jackets are very different."
"The Bad Wolf, o'course."
The Doctor's eyes widened. Rose barely remembered her time as Bad Wolf. Did she tell Jack? "Did…did mum tell you about the Bad Wolf, Jack?"
"Nope."
"How'd you know then?"
"I jus'…I jus' know somefings," Jack looked down at the little blue box. "Mum says tha'm special, I jus' dunno how special I am."
"You are special, Jack. You are brilliant. Just like your daddy."
The young boy's eyes lit up as if it were Christmas. "You know ma daddy? Wha's he like, John?" His stomach rumbled, but he paid no mind to it. The Doctor, however, did.
"How's about I tell you while we make some grilled cheese?" The Doctor grinned, taking the boy's hand and bringing him to the kitchen. "Mum said it's your favorite."
"I really love bananas, but Mummy said tha's not dinner; so I have 'em for breakfast," Jack smiled.
"Dad's favorite! I think one time, he took a trip to the banana planet, and didn't want to leave," the Doctor winked. He went into the fridge and took out the bread, butter and cheese. Jack went to the lazy susan and grabbed the pan.
Together, they made about 5 sandwiches; two for the Doctor, and two for Jack (if he wanted two). They left one for Rose, in case she was hungry and didn't grab a bite while she was out. While they cooked, the Doctor told Jack all about his father, except that he was a Time Lord. He assumed Rose wanted to wait until the right time to tell the boy.
By 9 o'clock, the Doctor was putting Jack to bed. He read him a story and tucked him in. "G'night, Jack."
"G'night, John….John?"
"Yes, Jack?"
"I know Mummy said I'd prolly never meet ma Daddy…"
The Doctor frowned slightly. "Oh, never say never, Jack."
"I know, but…if I don't…John?"
"Yes?"
"Will you be ma Daddy?"
The Doctor smiled and kissed the boy's head. "Of course I will, Jack."
